Introduction
 We got the information from Listening I taught
by Ms. Ani Setyaningsih on Monday 3rd of
December 2012 at 09.00 a.m., in Sanako Lab.
 We used the questionnaire(learners) and
Interview (teachers) and observation to look
for the information about the situation in the
class

  • 2. Introduction  We got the information from Listening I taught by Ms. Ani Setyaningsih on Monday 3rd of December 2012 at 09.00 a.m., in Sanako Lab.

Enviroment General Constraints Particular Constraints Questionnaire Result Effects on curriculum Design The learner & Situation What do they know What previous learning have they done Saya kesulitan dalam memahami perkuliahan 20 % students have difficulties during listening course, this indicates by some statement made by them e.g. the unclear voice from the audio speaker even this is the first time they get the experience taking listening course, meanwhile 80 % students do not feel that, they feel that the lecture deliver the material is clear enough - Providing the good tool for supporting learning e.g. speaker, audio. - Building the students confidence

Do they have preferred way of learning Are they interested in learning English Saya melatih kemampuan listening saya di luar jam perkuliahan 93.3% students try to practice outside the class; they assume that it is important to practice for better knowledge while 6.7% do not practice outside the class as they have full lecture and tasks. - Building the students respect or responsibility to practice outside the class : give more source to practice learning such as some site like BBC, British Council etc. Do they have preferred way of learning Do they have to learn English Listening adalah skill yang sulit diperoleh dibandingkan dengan skill yang lain 40% students think that listening is the hardest think than other skills, the students feels it is difficult as it is not commonly use in Indonesian while 60% students feel in contrary they feel listening is fun and enjoy - Giving feedback to learner also motivate them to learn listening

Are there enough resources Is there plenty of supplementary material Di dalam kelas, dosen memberi saya beberapa sumber belajar yang berguna 80% students feel that the source form lecture is well- prepared, the material is arranged based on syllabus and communicative while 20% students feel that the lecture just give limit source (just use 1 course book ) - The lecture can add some books as the reference for practice also some site to support learning listening Is it worth developing the course Do learner meet English outside the class Saya mencari sumber belajar di luar jam perkuliahan 66.7 % students try to find another learning source from outside. They do that as doing the assignment, even feeling that the limit time in listening course meanwhile 33.3% students do not do that as they forget to do and full lecture and tasks - Building the students respect or responsibility to find the source outside the class. - Give the task which need for accessing outside the class

Do they need English for a special purpose Do they have expectation what the course will be like Materi listening sangat dekat dengan kehidupan saya 93.3 % students feel that the material is related to their life; they assume that the material is exposure in their daily life while 6.7 % students do not feel the material closed to their life. - The lecture could accommodate the choice of material from their students as the material has the correlation to the teaching & learning goal. Do they need English for a special purpose Do they expect to learn certain things from the course Listening sangat penting untuk mendukung meningkatakan bahasa Inggris saya 100% students feel that listening will support their ability using English as this skill as the input in learning language to reach the output, speaking - State the goal of listening course - Building the intrinsic motivation to the students

Are there enough resources Are the tape recorders etc available Laboratoriumnya sangat cocok untuk melakukan aktivitas listening 66.7% students feel that the place is comfortable with air conditioner however 33.3% student feel that the seat is not fit with the amount of students even the headset - Preparing the supporting tool in teaching & learning activities such as headset, chair, speaker, etc. How old are they Can the learners do all the kinds of activities Saya ikut berpartisipasi di dalam aktivitas Listening 86.7% students take to participate in class as to get more feedback from the lecture even get the mark while 13.3% students do not take part in class as they feel anxious - Building the students becomes risk taker to take part during the teaching & learning

How old are they Are the learners interested in all kinds of topics Melakukan aktivitas listening di dalam kelas sangat membosankan 6.7 % students feel that listening is boring, however 93.3 % do not feel that as they have a game and the lecture makes listening course becoming more fun - Using another communicative language teaching which provide another interesting activities
