Nevada Hazards Research Paper
Nevada Hazards
Wendy Gurganus
Coastal Carolina Community College One of the geologic hazards in Nevada is the Mountain
ranges. The reason these are hazards is because most of the ranges in Nevada have a major fault
line on either side of them. Some of these faults have been active within the last 1.6 million years,
and have had large earthquakes. This causes the ranges to tilt and shift and raised the ranges to
higher levels. As far as seismic activity goes, Nevada is the third most active state in the nation.
There is an earthquake in Nevada of a 7 or greater approximately once every thirty years. There are
strike slip faults in the northwest region of the state. The border of California had what is called
Walker Lane. This area... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Especially in the area around the Great Basin, since that covers most of the state. This area is
surrounded by the mountain ranges and gets all the run off . This water helps with the water
shortage throughout the year but at the time it is too much for the area to handle as there is no
drainage to the ocean from this area. Groundwater is used throughout the state. Sometimes, the
water is pumped out faster than it can be replenished. When this happens, the land surface can be
affected. There are many cracks in the ground near Las Vegas, and in some places the land has
sunken in over six feet within the last sixty years. An increase in the population of the state is to
blame for the increased demand on the groundwater and therefore, the increased damage being
done to the landscape as a whole. More people, more water, more land being developed, means
less of the natural preservers being available. Also, with these floods the state sees landslides. The
rocks of the area show the different ways the terrain was built

Black Bodice Overhead And The Moon
Stars twinkled in the black bodice overhead and the moon was nowhere in sight, yet, no one
questioned why. All lay dead in the sky while below on land, badlam occurred. It was the 18th Era
on Gaia, in the small mountain town of Nibelheim. Squall Leonhart was clutching Cloud s hand,
running towards Mt. Nibel, away from the denizens of his hometown. His feet could barely keep
up with the speed of the blonde, who was sprinting at an inhuman pace. The ascent of the mountain
was too much to handle for the mere men chasing them, while Cloud had swept Squall up and ran
with the brunette in tow. Squall knew everything was backwards and wrong. He had fallen in love

He released his lover from his chains and together, they made a break for the Mako caves. Squall
was a hunter, not hunted. Everything was backwards and wrong. They reached the caves, Cloud
slinging Squall in, away from the entrance. Cloud used his strength to move heavy boulders to
block the entrance, preventing anyone from coming in. He turned back to Squall, non existent
heart thawing at the sight of his scared, anxious love. Cloud walked over, grabbing the man s
face in his gloved hands and kissing him with all the passion he had. Are you okay, my love?
Cloud asked, bringing Squall in close to him. I am now, he whispered back, laying a kiss on
Cloud s chest. What will we do? I can t go back, and when they get up here, there s no stopping
them at all. I can t ask for protection from us. While it s not forbidden for a demon to love a
human, it s looked down upon. I only know of one hope for us, but it s not pleasant. Anything,
Cloud. Anything for you. I d take any pain over and over, if it meant I can stay with you. We ll
have to go to my home, Squall. We ll have to go to the Underworld. What you call, Hell. Hell is
better than Nibelheim, Squall murmured, hugging Cloud tighter and closing his eyes. How do
we get there? My dear, open your eyes, we re already there. Confused, Squall opened his eyes
expecting to still be in the cave, but instead saw he was inside of a dimly lit castle.

US Labor Market
With the exception of baseball players subject to reserve clause, (Scully 1974, Kahn 2000) ,and
university professors, (Ransom,1993) it can be inferred that in the case of fairly specialized
labor markets this model does not accurately describe the US labor market and also does not
describe the low to medium skilled sector. Instead one can argue that labor markets in the US are
overall competitive. Overall it can be assumed that the most efficient and prevalent employment
arrangements also provide the ability for competitive markets to effectively bargain between
employers and employees as the market forces see fit. Currently the US economy and labor market
can be considered open and competitive, for, individuals are willing and able to... Show more

The ability to monitor the hours worked by employees which was not required prior to the
inclusion in overtime pay. Important aspect not yet addressed is that the regulatory change under
consideration by the DOL will likely cause compensating adjustments in employment arrangements
that are more necessary than the adjustments put forth by the DOL. Throughout our analysis, we
assume it is relatively cost free for both employers and regulators to monitor and document the
number of hours that salaried employees work each week. Although this assumption might hold
for some types of salaried employees, it likely does not hold for many of them and surely does not

Compare And Contrast Islam And Christianity
The religions of Islam and Christianity have been widespread influencers throughout history. Both
religions share common teachings, as well as having contrasts. Their similarities include
worshipping only one god, revering the same early prophets such as Jesus, following a set of
commandments, believing in a day of judgement, and having a concept of heaven and hell. Their
differences include having different founders, the concept of sin, and the resurrection of Jesus. Islam
has also given many contributions to Western Civilization, such as science, math, medicine, and
philosophy. One of Islam and Christianitys similarities is worshipping only one god. Both faiths
are monotheistic However, their beliefs in the way in which god is expressed is different. In
Christianity, god is represented through the trinity. According to the BBC, The Bible taught that
Christians were to worship Father and Son and Holy Spirit. It also taught that Christians should
only worship God. Finally, it taught that there was only one God. In Islam, there is no concept of
a trinity, and they believe in the oneness of god, The most fundamental teaching of Islam is to
believe in the Oneness of God, in the sense of His being the only Creator, Preserver, Nourisher,
etc (Why Islam 1). In both Christianity and Islam, they revere the same early prophets. Some of
these prophets include Abraham, Moses, and John the Baptist. Both religions consider Jesus as a
prophet as well, but Jesus role in the

Qualitative Mini Research Proposal: Stereotype Threat
As demographic changes reshape the STEM talent pool in the US, the nation will need to draw
more on racial and ethnic groups that have been traditionally marginalized in order to maintain its
global competitiveness. By 2050, the US Census Bureau (2008) projects that minority racial and

Yet, Sunal at al. (2001) argues that many higher education faculty view change as something
beyond their control.
The proposed research focuses on faculty training on stereotype threat, and classroom exercises and
interventions designed to reduce the gap in the achievement of African Americans in STEM
disciplines. Through Project MAST Up we hope to better understand the mechanisms through
which African Americans STEM performance can be improved, focusing specifically on the
psychological changes that are produced by self affirmation which, in turn, improves performance
(Steele, 1999). We will focus on aspects of stereotyping and stereotype threat. Work on stereotype
threat represents an important focus on translating my basic, lab based research into field contexts.
This research perfectly exemplifies the goals of translational research by using basic research on
stereotype threat and affirmation to improve outcomes in authentic classrooms.
Literature over the past twenty years point to the contribution of subtle psychological factors to
gender disparities in classroom achievement at women s colleges, a study that was rooted in an
examination of HBCU s. We specifically focused on the psychological threat arising from fear of
being devalued based on a group identity. Studies have shown that becoming aware that one could
be seen in light of a negative stereotype about one s group creating what is called

Sebastian Inlet State Park
48241 Sebastian Inlet State Park
Offering a bit of calm for the young and an adventurous side for the wild at heart, Sebastian Inlet
State Park offers a beach the whole family enjoys. Located in Melbourne Beach, Florida, this
beach rests ten miles south of Melbourne Beach and six miles north of Vero Beach. And, lays
claim as one of six waterways linking the Indian River Lagoon to the Atlantic Ocean.
Three miles of beautiful beaches with rocky reefs beneath the water line describe this area. Water
clarity is best in the summer revealing a variety of fish and sea turtles. And, the Gulf waters lie 25
to 30 miles east of Sebastian Inlet for boaters and fishermen looking for a day on the water.
AMENITIES

Beginning and advanced snorkelers find underwater life inspiring. Three areas provide choice to
visitors. First, the clear water of the shallow lagoon offers experience and safety for beginners and
the timid. Second, the Inlet with its strong current and rocky line remains popular and challenging.
Finally, Monster Hole drops to 30 feet deep 30 to 40 yards off the jetty for experienced snorkelers.
While lifeguards are not present at this beach, a warning flag program alerts swimmers to
dangerous or restricted areas. With a bit of attention, surfers, snorkelers and swimmers enjoy the
sun and water safely. The Cove provides protected swimming with no waves, which is perfect for
young families. And, the other side of the Inlet boasts ocean waves for splashing over eager
swimmers.
Beachcombing on the shores of the Atlantic at Sebastian reveals plenty of shells and sea beans.
Sunbathing, of course, offers relaxation. And, for a change of pace and year round activity,
stargazing in the winter months is breathtaking. If that is not enough to do, canoeing and kayaking
on the Indian River Lagoon slows the pace.
Waterfront pavilions and picnic areas give families an opportunity to share a meal. And, for those
wanting to make more than a day of it, a campground with a boat ramp offers amenities. RV and

Holden s Attitude to Loss
The Catcher In The Rye Holden s Attitude To Loss And Goodbyes The theme of loss and
goodbyes recurs throughout The Catcher in the Rye and each occurrence reinforces Holden s
negative attitude towards change. The most vivid quote to gain insight into Holden s view on
change and subsequently loss (Byrne, Kalua and Scheepers 2012: 64) is in chapter 16 when
Holden reflects back on his childhood and his regular school visits to the Natural History Museum,
Holden finds a great comfort in the static and unchanging displays in the museum and in the
continuity he finds in there, The best thing, though, in that museum was that everything always
stayed right where it was. Nobody d move. (SparkNote...2007). The first example of a departure we

This difficulty to accept the migration of the ducks is most likely due to Holden s inability to
adapt to and accept change and loss. We see this again in Chapter 16 Holden says after he
reminisces about his school trips to the Natural History Museum Certain things they should stay
the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave
them alone. (Salinger 1994:110) To understand Holden s natural affinity towards constancy and
familiarity we need to look at his reaction and praise of the kettle drummer in the Radio City pre
show before the movie, we can see that Holden admires the drummer for his precision and
enthusiasm but mostly as he recognises him as a constant in the Radio City orchestra since he
was a child and Holden has memories attached to watching his performance I ve watched that
guy since I was about eight years old. My brother Allie and I, if we were with our parents and all,
we used to move our seats and go way down so we could watch him. He s the best drummer I
ever saw. (Salinger 1994: 124) SOURCES CONSULTED Byrne, D, Kalua, F Scheepers, R. 2012.

Sgw Model Of Cultural Competence
Cultural competence is significant especially for group leaders since groups have so much
diversity. To provide competent supervision, supervisors must assist trainees in conceptualizing
diversity issues, becoming aware of personalizations related to diversity, and generating diversity
competent interventions at all levels of group work interaction (Okech Rubel, 2007, para. 4).
Okech and Rubel (2007) researched the integration of cultural competency into the supervision of
group work model (SGW). The SGW model focuses on the supervision cultivating the group
leaders to be competent on learning to meet the needs of individuals within a one on one
relationship, as well as successfully understanding and intervening in subsystems and the group as a

The Inca empire was one of the most advanced technology empires during the period of 1400 to
1533 C.E. The Inca Civilization thrive on the ancient Andean region of South America. By the end,
their empire spread across the western South America from Quito in the North to Santiago to the

facing some slumps and success moments.
Incas made their home high in the mountains, about 11,000 feet above the sea level. Inca built

every crime had a severe punishment. Unlike other places, the Inca empire had low crime rates.
If you made a mistake for the first time, then you would get a scolding by the government. If you

Transfiguration In The Eucharist
The first Eucharistic transfiguration was conducted by Jesus Christ at the Last Supper. The Last
Supper was the final meal Jesus shared with his Disciples in Jerusalem. The meal also
commemorated His establishment of the priesthood. At the Last Supper also identified as Mass,
Jesus articulated to his Apostles, the forerunners of the current bishops, to reenact His enactment in
commemorative of his passing. The Church has traditionally imparted how the Eucharisthas
originated at the Last Supper and how the initial society followed Jesus command to break bread
in his name (Acts 2:42). Luke s Gospel also expresses Jesus words: Do this in memory of me .
During the Mass, Catholics faithfully unleavened bread and wine are transformed into the body
and blood of Jesus Christ through a process known as transubstantiation. This has been an action
completed by Jesus during the Passover meal who uttered the words This is my body, which is
given for you. Subsequently, he passes a cup filled with wine. He then says, This is my blood... It
is believed those who eat of Christ s flesh and blood shall have eternal life. Since that period, the
Church has devotedly obeyed the Lord s commands, the Last Supper is renowned everyday through
the commemorating of Mass. Throughout the past decades, the practice of Latin has developed into
a site of Catholic traditionalism, however in the upcoming years this has shifted due to the
discharge of the new liturgy, the older form of mass;

French Parfums CEO Mary Behlar to U.S outlets over the next five years. This report determines
the economic feasibility of Voodoo Love based on the net present value (NPV) of its cash flows
and the internal rate of return (IRR) over the 5 year period. We have made certain assumptions to
calculate the final numbers which are outlined below. The Appendix contains the detailed
calculations. Based on our calculations the project is economically feasible. The NPV of the

Ethnic Differences Between Tutsi And Twa Essay
Analysis Before the genocide, Rwanda demonstrated three major ethnic categories. Hutu constituted
the majority of the population, accounting for some 85% of all native Rwandans. Tutsi and Twa,
comprising approximately 14% and 1% of the population respectively, shared Rwanda with the
Hutu majority. Between Hutu and Tutsi, there were no major differences in language, religion, or
clanship. Traditionally, these ethnic distinctions related to occupation rather than traditional racial
categories: The Hutu were generally identified as agriculturalists whereas the Tutsi were usually
recognized as herdsmen. Prior to European colonialism and the subsequent issuing of racial identity
cards during the 1930s, these identities were flexible Hutu could acquire livestock and Tutsi could
practice agriculture. In the early 1900s, Dutch colonialists reorganized Rwandan society on the
basis of Tutsi racial superiority. Hutu and Twa were recognized as historically indigenous
populations whereas the Tutsi were believed to have migrated from either Ethiopia or the Middle
East. Colonialists exaggerated the physical differences between Hutu and Tutsi, often mistakenly
incorporating the pigmy Twa into these comparisons. In actuality, these constructed racial
classifications were inconsistent and arbitrary. Unable to distinguish consistently between native
Hutu and Tutsi, Dutch administrators eventually introduced means tested systems of ethnic
recognition, by classifying any person

Numbers In Norse Mythology
Numbers have had a fascinating presence throughout history. There is evidence of the use of
numbers dating back at least twenty thousand years, such as the discovery of the Ishango bone.
The Chinese, Mayans, Romans, Babylonians, and Greeks all had numbering systems. They were
all unique and they have all played a role in the use of Numbers in their everyday lives. Numbers
have also played a significant role in magic and divination. The I Ching system from the Chinese,
the tarot, and numerology are all some very popular forms. A Greek philosopher named
Pythagoras is credited for modern day numerology. Arithmancy is another form of divination based
on assigning numbers to a word or phrase. This can be seen in the Hebrew Kabbalah.

Problem Of Homelessness In The United States
Homelessness. It s a problem all over the United States, a problem all over Missouri, and a
problem all over the entire St. Louis area. About 30% of people who are chronically homeless
have mental health conditions about 50% have co occurring substance use problems. A lot of those
homeless individuals do have jobs, in fact almost half (44%) of homeless people have jobs. This
shows that there is more to homelessnessthan just not having a home. Although those that are
homeless do have jobs most of them don t pay enough, to get homeless individuals in better paying
jobs programs need to be made to help the homeless get over their addictions, help them get rid of
the effects of their mental illnesses, and help them get an education.

Eye Anatomy Poster
Eye Anatomy Posters Explaining Our Body s Cameras
By Stephen Lamb
Oct 4, 2009
The human eye is nature s version of a camera, yet so much more complex than a camera that all its
functions require years of study to understand. For example, within the layers of the retina
immediately behind the lens, light impulses are converted into electrical signals which proceed
through the optic nerve to the occipital cortex at the back of the brain, where they are translated .
Healthy eyes see in 20/20 vision. That is, standing 20 feet away from an eye chart a series of
symbols, or images, printed on a page people with 20/20 vision can see everything a normal eye
can see, normal being based on the average visual acuity of a majority of the population. ... Show

Defects in the shape of the lens, or inadequate filling of the vitreous humor, can result in
inadequate vision. Age and disease also play their part in reducing human vision. Thus, perfect
vision at birth may require correction as early as grade school, and will almost certainly require
correction by the age of retirement.
Ophthalmologists, or eye doctors, can help patients understand the need for corrective lenses or
surgery by using an Eye Anatomy Poster, whose central figure is a cut away view of the right eye
which depicts everything from the rods and cones (specialized structures in the eye the retina uses to
process light) to more esoteric items like the canal of Schlemm or scleral venous sinus, a circular
channel that collects fluid from the anterior chamber and sends it to the bloodstream.
With its diagram of the visible light spectrum, and a dissection of the structures of the eyeball, this
detailed chart makes it easier to see how the sight of a flower, for example, passes through the
retina to the optic nerve and is interpreted by the brain for our enjoyment, edification and

The, Peace, Night, Day, Love, Hate
Introduction
Binaries are embedded within every facet of our perceptions. War, peace, night, day, love, hate; we
are inclined to believe that every subject, idea, and thing has a polarizing companion. While this
paradigm may be beneficial in understanding the distinction and differences between these pairs, it
fails to entertain an idea even more compelling; that these polar opposites may not in fact be that
different from one another, and the bold notion that these dichotomies might not be as real as we
presume. Art and physics have been traditionally painted as polar opposites; neither resembling the
other even remotely. One is rational, objective, and logical, while the other is interpretive,
subjective, and, at times, seemingly illogical. While these superficial characteristics make a
persuasive argument for an antagonistic relationship between these subjects, it fails to acknowledge
their overarching commonality. Both disciplines have rich and prolific histories, saturated with
radical ideas, incredible individuals, and ground breaking discoveries and progressions. These rich
histories have provided the necessary foundation for the modern interpretations of these subjects
and all the wonderful innovations and understandings this modernity has entailed. While many
factors, movements, and people are responsible for this progression, two such movements in
particular have caused radical paradigm shifts in their respective disciplines. Impressionism and

Don t Not Wear A Helmet
Motorcycles are probably some of the coolest things in the world to eight year old kids. I was
lucky enough to grow up around motorcycles, and some of the kindest people I have ever met;
bikers. My dad and his best friend, Ken, had ridden motorcycles together since their junior year
of high school. They both saved up all the money they had earned from bailing hay to buy their
motorcycles. Being reckless, as most teenage boys are, they developed the bad habit of not
wearing helmets while riding. In 2008, Ken s life was cut short after a fatal motorcycleaccident. He
was on his way home from work when a woman in a large suburban switched lanes and did not see
him on his motorcycle. Ken swerved in an attempt to get out the woman s way, but... Show more

Why is wearing a seat belt a requirement and wearing a motorcycle helmet is not? In the State of
Texas Motorcycle Operators Handbook, it states that a motorcycle accident is more likely to be a
critical if the motorist is not wear a helmet. Without a helmet, you are five times more likely to
sustain a critical head injury in a crash. (Texas Dept. of Public Safety) Both safety devices keep
motorists safe and could potentially save lives. Motorcycles are much more dangerous than cars
because the whole body is exposed. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety s
article, Motorcycle Helmet Exemptions , the state of Texas has a law in place that requires
riders younger than 21 years old to wear a helmet. Riders older than 21 years of age are exempt
from wearing a helmet if they have completed a Motorcycle operations course or if they are
covered by medical insurance ( Motorcycle Helmet Exemptions ). I think there should be a law
in place in Texas requiring all motorcyclists to wear helmets at all times. My dad has ridden a
motorcycle since before I was born. He is very passionate about this particular hobby. As a
teenager, he developed a hatred for motorcycle helmets due to how uncomfortable and heavy they
are. He has handed me, excuse after excuse for why he doesn t want to wear the potentially
lifesaving device. After the devastating loss of his best friend, he still chooses not to wear a
helmet. My dad uses the excuses that

The Religious Believer s Explanation for the Existence of...
The problem of evil and suffering presents a real problem to the religious believer because it
compels them to accept conflicting claims that are logically impossible to reconcile. Religious
followers often question the nature of God and whether or not he is the type of God we are led to
believe. St Augustine said that if Godcannot stop evil and suffering he is not all powerful if he
will not stop evil and suffering then he is not all good. However Augustine did not actually
believe this to be true he set it out as something which he was going to solve. Surely God can do all
that is logically possible if he created the world out of nothing. If God is supposedly all knowing
then he should know how to stop evil and suffering. If God is all... Show more content on

J.L. Mackie a modern philosopher had a similar approach to Hume and he believed that God could
not be both omnibenevolent and omnipotent if evil exists. He labelled this the inconsistent triad
and believed that you could not have all three conflicting claims at once.
Flew another modern philosopher looked at the possibility that God may not love us. He
believed the biggest challenge to the believer is allowing the challenge of God s existence and
demanding an answer. He said it is not enough to just say that God s love is different to ours
because it is the simplest explanation. If we do this we are just qualifying God s love as opposed
to demanding a solution and finding good reason why he should not intervene.
A possible solution to the problem of evil is the Augustinian theodicy which is based on Genesis. St
Augustine argued that in genesis 1 God is seen as creating a world that is perfectly good and
free from defect. He said that this was clearly outlined in G1:31 where it says God saw what he
had made and it was very good. He believed that evil itself is not a thing or substance therefore
God did not create it. Augustine argue that evil was the going wrong of something good and as a
result Augustine termed evil as a privation of a good that did not come from God but entities with
free will such as angels and humans who were willing to give

How Muscle Growth Affects Your Body After Weight Training...
Have you always wondered if there s a less time consuming way that you can build muscle, yet
still gives you the results you would get if you worked out daily in the gym? It s not exactly
easy, but it is possible. By varying the intensity of your exercise session and taking a nice
recovery period after, you ll see that you can build your muscles with less effort and become
stronger. Many studies have been done on musclegrowth. Much of that research points to the theory
that you need to rest your body after weight trainingin order to build muscles more effectively. It s
also been said that muscles can continue to adjust to their new growth and strength for time
periods as high as 21 days after the last workout. It s been noted by some fitness buffs that they
could reduce their exercisetime by two thirds and still achieve the same amount of muscle growth
that they otherwise would have noticed with everyday workouts. Many fitness enthusiasts are
spending way too much time working out, which means their muscles don t have time to recover.
This is unhealthy for muscle growth for your body. Working out too much can actually damage
your health and hamper your muscle building efforts. You may find yourself suffering from a
weaker immune system. You might also get sick or injured easily. So how to you determine how
long you should let your muscles recover after a workout? When you have intense workouts,
remember that your muscles take four to seven days to fully recover.

Popularity of Soccer Around the World Essay
Popularity of Soccer Around the World
I am going to talk about the most popular sport in the world: football. Now, you may be having
visions of huge quarterbacks, dressed up in their padding and helmets, parading down the field
during the Super Bowl. But the other kind of football, the football the rest of the world knows,
has no padding or helmets. This other football is known in America as soccer. In more than 175
countries across the globe, football, or soccer, rates as the number 1 national sport.
Football dates back as far as thousands of years ago. There are records that show that ancient
civilizations of Greece, Egypt, and China (among others) played an age old form of football with a
stuffed leather ball. Early games in Old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the present there are more than 2 million players registered with official football organizations,
and about 275,000 clubs play in official leagues and tournaments. The World Cup, held every
four years, is the highlight of football tournaments. Held by FIFA (of course), it lasts 1 month,
and on this month, the world s eyes are on the World Cup. In 1994, over 1 billion people watched
the World Cup, and the events leading up to it. The fans are everything to football. The pride of
their city or country equals the pride of their football team.
A football game is not about sitting and quietly watching the game while eating hotdogs and
peanuts... it is a wild fiasco! The fans dress up in costumes and their team colors, they paint their
faces and bodies and sing songs in unison about their team. The stadiums are gigantic and
chaotic. The Maracana Stadium in Brazil is usually filled up to it s capacity with 220,000
screaming fans. Once, many Brazilian fans fainted in the stands when they lost to Uruguay. The
popularity of this sport also has it s downsides. It has even been deadly. For instance, in 1969 the
qualifying games between El Salvador and Honduras caused a war between the 2 countries. There
had been conflict between the countries, but things boiled over when they clashed on the playing
field, sparking a full scale war that lasted 2 weeks.

Analysis of the Canadian Computer Software Industry
The Canadian Computer Software Industry: An Analysis
Introduction
The involvement has become so involuntary that it has now become a dependence and an addiction,
to an extent that the absence of a computer makes someone completely dysfunctional, thus making
the computer software industry an instrumental new force within the international economy (Kent
Williams 1997 p 140). Our insatiable need for new and updated technologies to accompany us
through almost all walks of life has been resulting in a rapidly growing computer software industry
that is featured in a number of locations around the world. Canada has seen great success in the
growth of its software industry and its ability to export its intellectual products all over the globe.
Computer Software Industry
The computer software industry is a relatively new development on the international market place.
Only a few decades ago, there was no such industry at all. Thanks to a number of innovative
software developers, the rise of the industry has become a booming success. The industry itself
increased dramatically in the 1990s. It was during this period that software was growing in a
number of other supporting industries. Software soon became an integral part of industries like
healthcare, business applications like databases and network structures, personal finance, and
education (Kent Williams 1997). The more intertwined it became with other business applications,
the more successful software became as a

Easter Island Essay
Easter Island was once a haven for its inhabitants. It provided them with all of their needs, food,
shelter, tools, and even the ability to create great works of art. They abused this Eden, and turned it
into a disaster, with almost no natural resources. This could very well happen to us, because our
earth is the same Eden that Easter Island once was.
The people of Easter Island came over to their new land, and recognized that it was ideal for
them to settle. The land was lush; the sea was providing a bounty of fresh fish, and other seafood.
The earth was dark brown, and very rich. Everything was just the way it needed to be to support a
growing community of people.

The soil was losing its great growing powers, because of over cultivation. There were hardly as
many seabirds as could be remembered in recent years. Slowly but surely, their way of life was
dwindling, like a slowing dying flame. They couldn t directly see their end, but it was near. When
their major population finally did go, it went out with a whimper. Slowly and quietly they went the
way of their beloved fern trees. With the loss of all of the necessary items to sustain their eco
system, such as the fern, the trees, which they used to make rope, the birds they used, hunt. All
gone now, because they could not replenish them selves in a quickly enough time to meet the needs
of the people.
This should act as a rude awakening to us. The planet could be considered a large Easter Island.
We have a potentially non sustainable eco system. If we are not careful, we could go the same way
as the inhabitants of the island. It is possible for us to use up everything so there is nothing left
for our children to use. If we look at our progression over the last 300 years that we have inhabited
North America, we will notice that we have removed many natural resources. Trees in the
Northwest, plains in the Midwest, the marshes of Florida, all of which have been devastated by
humans in the past centuries. Our great grandparents did not notice the destruction, nor will I ever be

Thus, we return to the solid of revolutions formula
Volume = ∫_a^bв

The radius will be the aforementioned equation of the line. This again perfectly matches the

Because the question is College Worth it? is too general, each person has they own perception and
that makes it harder to accomplish a unified answer. On the other hand, numbers of colleges
seekers nowadays are more likely to greater than before. However, the answer to the question is
complicated because it requires a strong balance between the cost of being in college and the

Although the worth of college has been discussed over and over in the past years, Michael Potts

perspective that high cost can be a struggling point in causing lower academic standards.
Michael Potts stated that student s ideas about paying in college so they are supposed to get

One Hundred Years Of Solitude By Gabriel Garcia Marquez,...
With 220,000 dead in Colombia and one million in both Mexico and Nigeria, the impact of civil
wars still pierces the literature in these countries (Roser and Nagdy). However, the works that grew
out of the bloodstained soil in these countries differs from literature written after a civil war in
other parts of the world. Unlike most countries, culture in Colombia, Mexico, and Nigeriais still rich
with superstition and mythological themes that bleed into the works of the authors that live there.
Because of this, authors in these countries often write in the genre of magical realism, which
combines aspects of fantasy and reality in writing, as noted by Thomas Alwa Edison in the
International Journal of Multidisciplinary Approach and Studies. In One Hundred Years of
Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, and The

Light And Sugar Hypothesis
Analysis:
When evaluating the result from this investigation it is evident that the sugar light is the most
effective mix, based on the aspect of the plants grown by them. The Prediction in the hypothesis
was correct as the plant that grew the largest amount was the plant with both sugar and light,
however the statement that light was more valuable than sugar was shown to be incorrect. The first
prediction was clearly correct, as it can clearly be seen by comparing table (t, 1) and table (T, 6)
that the plant with sugar and light grew on average by .53cm in height while the one with only
sugar lost on average 1.66 cm in height, the plant with just light lost on average .33cm in height
and the plant with no sugar and no light grew only 2 cm in height. The factor of the amount of
roots that grew completely support the hypothesis as the roots of the plant that had sunlight and
sugar, as can clearly be seen by comparing (t, 1) and (t, 6) went up by 5 roots while the plant with
only sugar on average gained .66 roots, the plant with just light on average only gained 2.66 roots

Implementation Of Additive Manufacturing At The...
You pack everything that you think you need for deployment. You conduct your demand analysis
that leads you to believe that what you packed is just what you need. Every deployment you had
been on before confirms that those are the assets that will lead you to mission success. However,
this deployment is different and just about everything you brought is not required and to source it
from else where will take too long. In the near future the most viable solution will be to print it. As
3D printing now formally known as Additive Manufacturing (AM) evolves, the possibility of have

Implementation of additive manufacturing at the Intermediate level (I Level) of a Marine Aviation

A stonemason has his own set of tools that he uses to complete any form of stonework. But this
does not mean that Freemasons do not have tools of their own. Just because they do not lay bricks
or work on stone inside their lodges does not mean that they do not need anything else. In fact,
aside from the different Mason regalia used in rituals, there are also tools associated with each
degree that a Mason lands on.
Entered Apprentice
24 inch Gauge
A gauge (or a ruler) is used to measure the hours of each day. At this degree, Masons are taught to
divide their day into three, spending 3 hours on sleep or refreshment, 8 hours on the service of God
and others in need, and 8 hours on work and the usual vocations.
Common Gavel
The common gavel, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also shows that every Masonic brother shares the same goal and will be judged by the same laws.
Plumb
Also called as a plumb line (for stonemasons), it reminds Masons to stay just, honest and upright.
Master Mason
Trowel
The trowel symbolizes the need to spread brotherly love, with the theoretical cement it is spreading
symbolizing the strong unity or bond among brothers.
Pencil
Although the pencil seems to be a common tool in an actual stonemason s job, in Freemasonry, it
symbolizes how God has everything that people do written down. On the judgment day, this list
will be consulted and will be the basis for how one will be judged.
Skirrit
The skirrit, in stonework, is used to draw a perfect line on the ground. In Freemasonry, it is a
reminder to stick to the goal of perfection that the brotherhood has set.
Compass
The compasses are among the most popular symbols of Freemasonry, and also proves to be one of
the most important tools. It reminds Freemasons to know the limits between good and evil based
on the rules of the Great Architect of the Universe.
Seeing how these tools help in every degree of Freemasonry, it is no wonder that they are also
among the most common symbols that appear on important Masonic

Twelve Angry Men Essay
Twelve Angry Men is a very interesting play about an unfortunate young man, who was convicted
of killing his dad. The worst part was, the young man was only nineteen, and his life was just
starting. The jurors listened to all the evidence, then came the hard part, making the decision:
guilty, or innocent. Eleven jurors said guilty and only one said innocent. There was a lot of peer
pressure involved. I decided to write about different peer pressures three of the jurors used.
The three jurors I picked are juror #10, juror #7, and juror #8.The first juror I want to write about is
#10. Juror #10 was using a lot of sarcasm, whenever he was trying to prove his point, or prove
someone else wrong. I think that this method of peer pressure is ... Show more content on

Although a lot of evidence was really convincing, he tried to prove it unconvincing and use
sarcasm to convince other jurors otherwise. One example of #7 using sarcasm would be this quote:
quot; Why don t we have them run the trial over... quot; I think this quote clearly shows that juror #7
is trying to convince other jurors, that court s evidence proves the young man is guilty without
reasonable doubt. Also to break #8 s spirit he used name calling, another kind of peer pressure. I
believe this is a very good example: quot;The boy is guilty pal, like the nose on your face. quot;
The third and last juror I picked was #8, he was not using sarcasm, nor was he muscle flexing, he
was using reasonable argument, which helped him convince all the jurors that the young man was
innocent. He did not try to convince anybody by screaming at him, on the contrary he tried to go
over all the evidence, and he was using intelligent thinking, like trying to calculate exact times, and
figure out the correct position of the switch blade in the chest of the father. He was also trying to
recreate a situation to see if indeed one of the witnesses on the stand was lying.
Quotes like this one convinced me that #8 was very wise and intelligent person: quot;If he heard
anything at all, he still couldn t have identified to voice with the el roaring by... quot; (The el is a

Therapeutic Aspects Of Photodynamic Therapy
The therapeutic properties of light have a long history. The ancient Indians discovered, in 1,000
BCE that light therapy, in addition to psoralens, a plant compound, could cure vitiligo (Barr, H. et
al., 2002). In the early 20th century, Niels Finsen s and his wife s treatment of lupus vulgaris with
ultra violet lightnotably earned them the Nobel Price (Barr, H. et al., 2002). A more modern
application of light s theraputic properties is photodynamic therapy. Photodynamic therapy destroys
tumours through the use of a photosensitizer, oxygen, and light in a wavelength specific to the
photosensitizer (Brown Ibbotson, 2009, p. 251; Barr, Kendall, Reyes Goddard Stone, 2002, p. 136).
First, the photosensitizer is administered (Brown Ibbotson,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is used in the detection of cancers, the targeting os photosensitisers, and for monitoring the
response to therapy (Celli et al., 2010). The same photosensitisers that are used in photodynamic
therapy can be used to outline cancerous tumours, especially useful for resections (Celli et al.,
2010). Photodynamic therapy works best when photosensitisers are targeted to tumours to avoid
side effects. The fluorescence of photosensitisers can be used to monitor their accumulation in
tissues (Celli et al., 2010). The fluorescent properties of photosensitisers mean that they can be
used for therapy and imaging and the same time (Celli et al., 2010). Before photodynamic therapy
can take place, the tumour must be assessed (Celli et al., 2010). Other information, such as
vascular patterns, which can be discerned from imaging, are useful for planning treatment (Celli
et al., 2010). Fluorescent imaging can also help in determining placement of fibres for light
delivery (Celli et al., 2010). One of the most successful uses of fluorescent imaging with
photodynamic therapy is in the treatment of macular degeneration (Celli et al., 2010). The
compound fluorescein is used to detect leaky areas in blood vessels, which are the targets for
photodynamic therapy (Celli et al., 2010). Fluorescent imaging is also used to monitor the dose
response to photodynamic therapy (Celli et al., 2010). Fluorescence has been used to determine the

Reasons For Preventing Delays For Closing Delays
You accepted the offer and the buyer have agreed with the closing date, hopefully with any
closing delays. The final goal for both the seller and the buyer is have all parties involve dint he
process to prevent any closing delays. The delays aren t always caused by the seller or the buyer.
In some cases the delays are due to the lender or financial instructions and how long they take to
process the loanand close.
In California the escrow instructions have different procedures, for instant southern California signs
on the front end, while northern California signs on the back end. Before anything happens all of
the terms of the purchase agreement need to be met, the seller deposits the deed and the buyer
deposits the funds.
Many of the causes for closing delays can be prevented and correctly quickly with planning and
communications. Some common errors causing closing delays include documentation, incorrect
amounts stated on the required funding, or findings from the buyers final walk through of the home
before closing.
7 Ways To Avoid Closing Delays On Your Home Sale
1Communications
This one is at the top of the list for good reason. Buyers need to keep their lenders up to date and
in the loop at all time. Your lender is processing one of the largest transactions of your life, and
there s a ton of paperwork and duplicate information needed to process your loan documents. If
your lender can t reach you to get the information, there s a delay. If you ve been asked to

  • 2. Nevada Hazards Research Paper Nevada Hazards Wendy Gurganus Coastal Carolina Community College One of the geologic hazards in Nevada is the Mountain ranges. The reason these are hazards is because most of the ranges in Nevada have a major fault line on either side of them. Some of these faults have been active within the last 1.6 million years, and have had large earthquakes. This causes the ranges to tilt and shift and raised the ranges to higher levels. As far as seismic activity goes, Nevada is the third most active state in the nation. There is an earthquake in Nevada of a 7 or greater approximately once every thirty years. There are strike slip faults in the northwest region of the state. The border of California had what is called Walker Lane. This area... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Especially in the area around the Great Basin, since that covers most of the state. This area is surrounded by the mountain ranges and gets all the run off . This water helps with the water shortage throughout the year but at the time it is too much for the area to handle as there is no drainage to the ocean from this area. Groundwater is used throughout the state. Sometimes, the water is pumped out faster than it can be replenished. When this happens, the land surface can be affected. There are many cracks in the ground near Las Vegas, and in some places the land has sunken in over six feet within the last sixty years. An increase in the population of the state is to blame for the increased demand on the groundwater and therefore, the increased damage being done to the landscape as a whole. More people, more water, more land being developed, means less of the natural preservers being available. Also, with these floods the state sees landslides. The rocks of the area show the different ways the terrain was built ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nibel, away from the denizens of his hometown. His feet could barely keep up with the speed of the blonde, who was sprinting at an inhuman pace. The ascent of the mountain was too much to handle for the mere men chasing them, while Cloud had swept Squall up and ran with the brunette in tow. Squall knew everything was backwards and wrong. He turned back to Squall, non existent heart thawing at the sight of his scared, anxious love. Cloud walked over, grabbing the man s face in his gloved hands and kissing him with all the passion he had. Are you okay, my love? Cloud asked, bringing Squall in close to him. I am now, he whispered back, laying a kiss on Cloud s chest. What will we do? I can t go back, and when they get up here, there s no stopping them at all. I can t ask for protection from us. While it s not forbidden for a demon to love a human, it s looked down upon. I only know of one hope for us, but it s not pleasant. Anything, Cloud. Anything for you. I d take any pain over and over, if it meant I can stay with you. We ll have to go to my home, Squall. We ll have to go to the Underworld. What you call, Hell. Hell is better than Nibelheim, Squall murmured, hugging Cloud tighter and closing his eyes. How do we get there? My dear, open your eyes, we re already there. Confused, Squall opened his eyes expecting to still be in the cave, but instead saw he was inside of a dimly lit castle. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

US Labor Market With the exception of baseball players subject to reserve clause, (Scully 1974, Kahn 2000) ,and university professors, (Ransom,1993) it can be inferred that in the case of fairly specialized labor markets this model does not accurately describe the US labor market and also does not describe the low to medium skilled sector. Instead one can argue that labor markets in the US are overall competitive. Overall it can be assumed that the most efficient and prevalent employment arrangements also provide the ability for competitive markets to effectively bargain between employers and employees as the market forces see fit. • 5. Compare And Contrast Islam And Christianity The religions of Islam and Christianity have been widespread influencers throughout history. Both religions share common teachings, as well as having contrasts. Their similarities include worshipping only one god, revering the same early prophets such as Jesus, following a set of commandments, believing in a day of judgement, and having a concept of heaven and hell. Their differences include having different founders, the concept of sin, and the resurrection of Jesus. Islam has also given many contributions to Western Civilization, such as science, math, medicine, and philosophy. One of Islam and Christianitys similarities is worshipping only one god. Both faiths are monotheistic However, their beliefs in the way in which god is expressed is different. In Christianity, god is represented through the trinity. According to the BBC, The Bible taught that Christians were to worship Father and Son and Holy Spirit. It also taught that Christians should only worship God. Finally, it taught that there was only one God. In Islam, there is no concept of a trinity, and they believe in the oneness of god, The most fundamental teaching of Islam is to believe in the Oneness of God, in the sense of His being the only Creator, Preserver, Nourisher, etc (Why Islam 1). Through Project MAST Up we hope to better understand the mechanisms through which African Americans STEM performance can be improved, focusing specifically on the psychological changes that are produced by self affirmation which, in turn, improves performance (Steele, 1999). We will focus on aspects of stereotyping and stereotype threat. Work on stereotype threat represents an important focus on translating my basic, lab based research into field contexts. This research perfectly exemplifies the goals of translational research by using basic research on stereotype threat and affirmation to improve outcomes in authentic classrooms. Literature over the past twenty years point to the contribution of subtle psychological factors to gender disparities in classroom achievement at women s colleges, a study that was rooted in an examination of HBCU s. The Last Supper was the final meal Jesus shared with his Disciples in Jerusalem. The meal also commemorated His establishment of the priesthood. At the Last Supper also identified as Mass, Jesus articulated to his Apostles, the forerunners of the current bishops, to reenact His enactment in commemorative of his passing. The Church has traditionally imparted how the Eucharisthas originated at the Last Supper and how the initial society followed Jesus command to break bread in his name (Acts 2:42). Luke s Gospel also expresses Jesus words: Do this in memory of me . During the Mass, Catholics faithfully unleavened bread and wine are transformed into the body and blood of Jesus Christ through a process known as transubstantiation. This has been an action completed by Jesus during the Passover meal who uttered the words This is my body, which is given for you. Subsequently, he passes a cup filled with wine. He then says, This is my blood... It is believed those who eat of Christ s flesh and blood shall have eternal life. Since that period, the Church has devotedly obeyed the Lord s commands, the Last Supper is renowned everyday through the commemorating of Mass. • 20. Ethnic Differences Between Tutsi And Twa Essay Analysis Before the genocide, Rwanda demonstrated three major ethnic categories. Hutu constituted the majority of the population, accounting for some 85% of all native Rwandans. Tutsi and Twa, comprising approximately 14% and 1% of the population respectively, shared Rwanda with the Hutu majority. Between Hutu and Tutsi, there were no major differences in language, religion, or clanship. Traditionally, these ethnic distinctions related to occupation rather than traditional racial categories: The Hutu were generally identified as agriculturalists whereas the Tutsi were usually recognized as herdsmen. Prior to European colonialism and the subsequent issuing of racial identity cards during the 1930s, these identities were flexible Hutu could acquire livestock and Tutsi could practice agriculture. In the early 1900s, Dutch colonialists reorganized Rwandan society on the basis of Tutsi racial superiority. Hutu and Twa were recognized as historically indigenous populations whereas the Tutsi were believed to have migrated from either Ethiopia or the Middle East. Colonialists exaggerated the physical differences between Hutu and Tutsi, often mistakenly incorporating the pigmy Twa into these comparisons. In actuality, these constructed racial classifications were inconsistent and arbitrary. Unable to distinguish consistently between native Hutu and Tutsi, Dutch administrators eventually introduced means tested systems of ethnic recognition, by classifying any person ... Numbers have also played a significant role in magic and divination. The I Ching system from the Chinese, the tarot, and numerology are all some very popular forms. A Greek philosopher named Pythagoras is credited for modern day numerology. • 23. Eye Anatomy Poster Eye Anatomy Posters Explaining Our Body s Cameras By Stephen Lamb Oct 4, 2009 The human eye is nature s version of a camera, yet so much more complex than a camera that all its functions require years of study to understand. For example, within the layers of the retina immediately behind the lens, light impulses are converted into electrical signals which proceed through the optic nerve to the occipital cortex at the back of the brain, where they are translated . Healthy eyes see in 20/20 vision. That is, standing 20 feet away from an eye chart a series of symbols, or images, printed on a page people with 20/20 vision can see everything a normal eye can see, normal being based on the average visual acuity of a majority of the population. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Defects in the shape of the lens, or inadequate filling of the vitreous humor, can result in inadequate vision. Age and disease also play their part in reducing human vision. Thus, perfect vision at birth may require correction as early as grade school, and will almost certainly require correction by the age of retirement. Ophthalmologists, or eye doctors, can help patients understand the need for corrective lenses or surgery by using an Eye Anatomy Poster, whose central figure is a cut away view of the right eye which depicts everything from the rods and cones (specialized structures in the eye the retina uses to process light) to more esoteric items like the canal of Schlemm or scleral venous sinus, a circular channel that collects fluid from the anterior chamber and sends it to the bloodstream. With its diagram of the visible light spectrum, and a dissection of the structures of the eyeball, this detailed chart makes it easier to see how the sight of a flower, for example, passes through the retina to the optic nerve and is interpreted by the brain for our enjoyment, edification and ... War, peace, night, day, love, hate; we are inclined to believe that every subject, idea, and thing has a polarizing companion. While this paradigm may be beneficial in understanding the distinction and differences between these pairs, it fails to entertain an idea even more compelling; that these polar opposites may not in fact be that different from one another, and the bold notion that these dichotomies might not be as real as we presume. Art and physics have been traditionally painted as polar opposites; neither resembling the other even remotely. One is rational, objective, and logical, while the other is interpretive, subjective, and, at times, seemingly illogical. While these superficial characteristics make a persuasive argument for an antagonistic relationship between these subjects, it fails to acknowledge their overarching commonality. Both disciplines have rich and prolific histories, saturated with radical ideas, incredible individuals, and ground breaking discoveries and progressions. These rich histories have provided the necessary foundation for the modern interpretations of these subjects and all the wonderful innovations and understandings this modernity has entailed. While many factors, movements, and people are responsible for this progression, two such movements in particular have caused radical paradigm shifts in their respective disciplines. I was lucky enough to grow up around motorcycles, and some of the kindest people I have ever met; bikers. My dad and his best friend, Ken, had ridden motorcycles together since their junior year of high school. They both saved up all the money they had earned from bailing hay to buy their motorcycles. Being reckless, as most teenage boys are, they developed the bad habit of not wearing helmets while riding. In 2008, Ken s life was cut short after a fatal motorcycleaccident. He was on his way home from work when a woman in a large suburban switched lanes and did not see him on his motorcycle. Ken swerved in an attempt to get out the woman s way, but... The problem of evil and suffering presents a real problem to the religious believer because it compels them to accept conflicting claims that are logically impossible to reconcile. Religious followers often question the nature of God and whether or not he is the type of God we are led to believe. St Augustine said that if Godcannot stop evil and suffering he is not all powerful if he will not stop evil and suffering then he is not all good. However Augustine did not actually believe this to be true he set it out as something which he was going to solve. He labelled this the inconsistent triad and believed that you could not have all three conflicting claims at once. Flew another modern philosopher looked at the possibility that God may not love us. He believed the biggest challenge to the believer is allowing the challenge of God s existence and demanding an answer. He said it is not enough to just say that God s love is different to ours because it is the simplest explanation. If we do this we are just qualifying God s love as opposed to demanding a solution and finding good reason why he should not intervene. A possible solution to the problem of evil is the Augustinian theodicy which is based on Genesis. St Augustine argued that in genesis 1 God is seen as creating a world that is perfectly good and free from defect. He said that this was clearly outlined in G1:31 where it says God saw what he had made and it was very good. He believed that evil itself is not a thing or substance therefore God did not create it. Augustine argue that evil was the going wrong of something good and as a result Augustine termed evil as a privation of a good that did not come from God but entities with free will such as angels and humans who were willing to give ... Have you always wondered if there s a less time consuming way that you can build muscle, yet still gives you the results you would get if you worked out daily in the gym? It s not exactly easy, but it is possible. By varying the intensity of your exercise session and taking a nice recovery period after, you ll see that you can build your muscles with less effort and become stronger. Many studies have been done on musclegrowth. Much of that research points to the theory that you need to rest your body after weight trainingin order to build muscles more effectively. It s also been said that muscles can continue to adjust to their new growth and strength for time periods as high as 21 days after the last workout. It s been noted by some fitness buffs that they could reduce their exercisetime by two thirds and still achieve the same amount of muscle growth that they otherwise would have noticed with everyday workouts. Many fitness enthusiasts are spending way too much time working out, which means their muscles don t have time to recover. This is unhealthy for muscle growth for your body. Working out too much can actually damage your health and hamper your muscle building efforts. You may find yourself suffering from a weaker immune system. You might also get sick or injured easily. So how to you determine how long you should let your muscles recover after a workout? When you have intense workouts, remember that your muscles take four to seven days to fully recover. ... Our insatiable need for new and updated technologies to accompany us through almost all walks of life has been resulting in a rapidly growing computer software industry that is featured in a number of locations around the world. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because the question is College Worth it? is too general, each person has they own perception and that makes it harder to accomplish a unified answer. On the other hand, numbers of colleges seekers nowadays are more likely to greater than before. However, the answer to the question is complicated because it requires a strong balance between the cost of being in college and the benefits after graduating. Although the worth of college has been discussed over and over in the past years, Michael Potts works in philosophy at Methodist College as an associate professor in Fayetteville NC, has a perspective that high cost can be a struggling point in causing lower academic standards. Michael Potts stated that student s ideas about paying in college so they are supposed to get high grades made quality education drop down. Not only education standard will be lowered because some students believes that paying to college means that they will get high grades, also the lower education standards are, the weaker universities prestige, rank, and status will be, which will affect some students in their self esteem. While Potts belief toward student paying for college affect education standers, Lilly, a professional writer and editor in his own business, also says that yes, the college cost a lot of money it will be beneficial for them economically. • 38. One Hundred Years Of Solitude By Gabriel Garcia Marquez,... With 220,000 dead in Colombia and one million in both Mexico and Nigeria, the impact of civil wars still pierces the literature in these countries (Roser and Nagdy). However, the works that grew out of the bloodstained soil in these countries differs from literature written after a civil war in other parts of the world. Unlike most countries, culture in Colombia, Mexico, and Nigeriais still rich with superstition and mythological themes that bleed into the works of the authors that live there. Because of this, authors in these countries often write in the genre of magical realism, which combines aspects of fantasy and reality in writing, as noted by Thomas Alwa Edison in the International Journal of Multidisciplinary Approach and Studies. In One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, and The Famished Road, by Ben Okri, the magical and the realistic components of their plots must be inseparable so that their authors, through characters, may accurately reflect the cultural effects of colonialism and civil wars and symbolically... Marquez s passionate reflection of Colombian culture seeks to bridge the gap between the country s violent past and its covert beauty. His lush jungle settings are often awash with blood and a cacophony of screams always accompanies his diverse wildlife. To capture an accurate account of Colombian culture in One Hundred Years of Solitude, Marquez turned to history to fill the pages of his novel. For instance, one of the main conflicts in the novel is a civil war between two parties aptly named after the two brutal political parties present in Colombian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Light And Sugar Hypothesis Analysis: When evaluating the result from this investigation it is evident that the sugar light is the most effective mix, based on the aspect of the plants grown by them. The Prediction in the hypothesis was correct as the plant that grew the largest amount was the plant with both sugar and light, however the statement that light was more valuable than sugar was shown to be incorrect. The first prediction was clearly correct, as it can clearly be seen by comparing table (t, 1) and table (T, 6) that the plant with sugar and light grew on average by .53cm in height while the one with only sugar lost on average 1.66 cm in height, the plant with just light lost on average .33cm in height and the plant with no sugar and no light grew only 2 cm in height. The factor of the amount of roots that grew completely support the hypothesis as the roots of the plant that had sunlight and sugar, as can clearly be seen by comparing (t, 1) and (t, 6) went up by 5 roots while the plant with only sugar on average gained .66 roots, the plant with just light on average only gained 2.66 roots and the plant with no sugar and no light on average gained 2 roots. This data also supports the hypothesis that light is more important than sugar as the plants with light grew more root than the plants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 40. Implementation Of Additive Manufacturing At The... You pack everything that you think you need for deployment. You conduct your demand analysis that leads you to believe that what you packed is just what you need. Every deployment you had been on before confirms that those are the assets that will lead you to mission success. However, this deployment is different and just about everything you brought is not required and to source it from else where will take too long. In the near future the most viable solution will be to print it. As 3D printing now formally known as Additive Manufacturing (AM) evolves, the possibility of have everything you need at your fingertips will have a profound impact on your operational readiness. Implementation of additive manufacturing at the Intermediate level (I Level) of a Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron, will drastically reduce the acquisition and production lead times associated with low demand items, items that are impacted with obsolescence, and drastically reduce cost and footprint of conventional logistic models. One advantage of AM is dramatically reducing acquisition and production lead time associated with low demand items. Currently, Defense Logistics Agency s (DLA) demand forecasting is predicated on either previous demand history or flight hours which will determine how much to buy and how much to stock. This formula is great for the high demand and major end items as they are more predictable with continuous monitoring for any changes in pattern. Utilizing this forecasting ... In fact, aside from the different Mason regalia used in rituals, there are also tools associated with each degree that a Mason lands on. • 42. Twelve Angry Men Essay Twelve Angry Men is a very interesting play about an unfortunate young man, who was convicted of killing his dad. The worst part was, the young man was only nineteen, and his life was just starting. The jurors listened to all the evidence, then came the hard part, making the decision: guilty, or innocent. Eleven jurors said guilty and only one said innocent. There was a lot of peer pressure involved. I decided to write about different peer pressures three of the jurors used. The three jurors I picked are juror #10, juror #7, and juror #8.The first juror I want to write about is #10. Although a lot of evidence was really convincing, he tried to prove it unconvincing and use sarcasm to convince other jurors otherwise. One example of #7 using sarcasm would be this quote: quot; Why don t we have them run the trial over... quot; I think this quote clearly shows that juror #7 is trying to convince other jurors, that court s evidence proves the young man is guilty without reasonable doubt. Also to break #8 s spirit he used name calling, another kind of peer pressure. I believe this is a very good example: quot; The boy is guilty pal, like the nose on your face. quot; The third and last juror I picked was #8, he was not using sarcasm, nor was he muscle flexing, he was using reasonable argument, which helped him convince all the jurors that the young man was innocent. He did not try to convince anybody by screaming at him, on the contrary he tried to go over all the evidence, and he was using intelligent thinking, like trying to calculate exact times, and figure out the correct position of the switch blade in the chest of the father. He was also trying to recreate a situation to see if indeed one of the witnesses on the stand was lying. Quotes like this one convinced me that #8 was very wise and intelligent person: quot;If he heard anything at all, he still couldn t have identified to voice with the el roaring by... quot; (The el is a train)I believe Twelve Angry Men situation could happen in the real life, and I am almost ... • 43. Therapeutic Aspects Of Photodynamic Therapy The therapeutic properties of light have a long history. The ancient Indians discovered, in 1,000 BCE that light therapy, in addition to psoralens, a plant compound, could cure vitiligo (Barr, H. et al., 2002). In the early 20th century, Niels Finsen s and his wife s treatment of lupus vulgaris with ultra violet lightnotably earned them the Nobel Price (Barr, H. et al., 2002). A more modern application of light s theraputic properties is photodynamic therapy. Photodynamic therapy destroys tumours through the use of a photosensitizer, oxygen, and light in a wavelength specific to the photosensitizer (Brown Ibbotson, 2009, p. 251; Barr, Kendall, Reyes Goddard Stone, 2002, p. 136). First, the photosensitizer is administered (Brown Ibbotson,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is used in the detection of cancers, the targeting os photosensitisers, and for monitoring the response to therapy (Celli et al., 2010). The same photosensitisers that are used in photodynamic therapy can be used to outline cancerous tumours, especially useful for resections (Celli et al., 2010). Photodynamic therapy works best when photosensitisers are targeted to tumours to avoid side effects. The fluorescence of photosensitisers can be used to monitor their accumulation in tissues (Celli et al., 2010). The fluorescent properties of photosensitisers mean that they can be used for therapy and imaging and the same time (Celli et al., 2010). Before photodynamic therapy can take place, the tumour must be assessed (Celli et al., 2010). Other information, such as vascular patterns, which can be discerned from imaging, are useful for planning treatment (Celli et al., 2010). Fluorescent imaging can also help in determining placement of fibres for light delivery (Celli et al., 2010). One of the most successful uses of fluorescent imaging with photodynamic therapy is in the treatment of macular degeneration (Celli et al., 2010). The compound fluorescein is used to detect leaky areas in blood vessels, which are the targets for photodynamic therapy (Celli et al., 2010). Fluorescent imaging is also used to monitor the dose response to photodynamic therapy (Celli et al., 2010). Fluorescence has been used to determine the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
