The Madras Pinjrapole shelters nearly 1,500 cows in Chennai, providing them shelter, food, medical care and protection. Run solely through donations, it costs around 12 lakh rupees per month to care for the cows. Under the Gopalkyojana scheme, people can donate 5,400 rupees to sponsor the annual care of one cow. The cows are well cared for daily and produce 800 liters of milk each day.

• To prevent this cruelty occurred to cows, Goshalas comes to their rescue.
• The Madras Pinjarapole is the only one of its kind in South India, giving shelter,
care and protection to sick and neglected Cows.

6. Located in 12 acres site, about 2,100 cows are currently under its fold,
maintained and fed in 28 sheds with 100 workers in charge

people who cannot see harm being done to these
mute animals.
• But sympathy alone is not enough. Cows that are sick
or neglected due to some reason, also have a right to
live in dignity.

adopted many.
• The cows are taken care of on a daily
basis. Sheds have been provided to house
the cows in and all their day to day needs
like water, food and medical care are
provided to all of them.
• Cows that were brought in sick have
been treated and are hale and hearty
now.
• Those cows that were saved from the
slaughterhouses and those that were not
yielding milk are now in good health and
quite a few of them even yield milk
regularly.

13. Cows and their shelters are maintained every day.

14. Everyday the cows are fed green grass, bananas
and extract of gingelly oil which is very
nutritious.

15. Veterinary hospital at Goshala
The veterinarian at Pinjrapole attends to sick cows immediately
and administers the medication.

16. 800 Litres of Milk are produced,packed and
distributed each day.

17. Cow dungs are used as manures and Gobar gas fuels.

18. Solely run with liberal donations by Philanthropists and Samaritans
from all sections of society, at an average monthly expenditure of Rs.
12 Lakhs and a recurring deficit of Rs. 3 Lakhs per month, it continues
to strive and work for its dedicated objective and functions
effectively, despite many hurdles.
