4.  In order to avoid chronic traffic jams, the cabinet of Bihar has
approved the construction of a flyover in the station road.
Actually this is the extension of ROB at G.P.O to Exhibition Road
through Bihar Rajya Pul Nirmaan Nigam Ltd. (BRPNNL).
 The BRPNNL in turn has taken up the detail engineering of the
project through consultancy firm(S. P. Singla Constructions Pvt
Ltd ) having vast experience in this field. The work generally
includes survey, geotechnical investigation, traffic study and
planning & design.

5.  According to the project details, the execution of
project is carried out in two phases. Both the
phases had already started.
 The length of fly over is (854m +612m) and
(207m) ramp.
 Cost of Project :- 167.85 crore
 Opening of Project :- 28-06-2013
 Closing of Project :- 15-08-2017

9.  On a Flyover or bridge, the portion of the structure
that directly receives the live load and span is
referred to as the superstructure. In contrast, the
abutment, pier and other support structures are
called the Sub-structure.

10. Foundation
 Pile foundation is used

 Diameter of pile :- 1200 mm
 Vertical load capacity of pile :- 230 Tonnes
 Horizontal load capacity of pile :- 20 Tonnes

11.  A pile cap is thick concrete mat that rests on
piles to provide a suitable foundation.
 It distributes the load to piles uniformly.
 Thickness of pile cap :- 1800 mm
 M35 Grade Concrete is used for casting piles
& pile cap
 Bars used – Fe 500 Steel Bar of Dia 25 mm &
32 mm

12.  It is a vertical supporting structure over pile cap
 No. of pier shaft :- 41

13.  Designed to distribute concentrated loads
evenly over the area of the pier shaft.

14. Pedestal
 Dimension :- 950mm x 850mm x 250mm
 No. of pedestal over a pier cap is 4.

15.  Pot bearing is used
 Negligible vertical deflection as only 0.06.
 High horizontal load capacity

16.  A flyover segment is the roadway surface of
the flyover.
 These segments in this flyover are of box
type and I-girder type .

17.  Checks errant vehicles from jumping outside from the
flyover
 Width of crash barrier is 500mm

 The steel used in the construction is of grade HYSD.
 The diameter of bars may vary from 12mm to 32mm.

31.  After the completion of this project, flyover would
benefit the commutators going to Kankarbagh and
Gandhi Maidan area from Mithapur Bus Stand.
 This project will prove a great asset to people of
Patna as it will prevent chronic traffic jams gridlock
in areas like New Market, Patna Junction &
Exhibition Road. Hence a considerable amount of
fuel and time will be saved.
 It will also enhance the Beauty of City PATNA.
