Saul Bass was an American graphic designer and filmmaker best known for designing animated motion picture title sequences. He began doing print work for film posters but was asked to design the title sequence for Carmen Jones in 1954, impressing the director. Bass went on to design iconic logos for companies like Bell and AT&T as well as title sequences for over 40 films from the 1950s-1990s, using animation and graphics to set the tone and summarize the film's story.
