Satellite radio uses satellites to broadcast radio signals over a much wider area than traditional FM radio. It provides clear reception free from commercials or censorship. The document discusses the history and technology behind satellite radio, including how digital signals are encoded and transmitted via satellites before being received by subscribers. Some advantages are superior sound quality, broad programming options, and lack of static, while limitations include subscription costs and lack of local content. Overall, satellite radio is growing in popularity and audience due to its audio quality and coverage.
I m Pankaj singh. i have done my traing at AIR. This Presentation is all about ALL INDIA RADIO, Prasar Bharati. as there are now resources to get this ppt on net..i had to suffer a lot..so this is dedicated to all my friends who have done their training from AIR.
Seminar on Radio Broadcasting in India
Radio as a communication medium has played a very important role in the economic, political and cultural development of nations. It has the unique advantage of being receivable through low cost, battery operated, and mobile receiving sets, affordable for almost everyone, even in the rural areas. For the average argumentative Indian who loves talking, radio is an easy and effective medium to bond with and hence its continuing popularity in India.
This presentation covers:
Basics of Satellite communication
Indian Communication satellites
Satellite link and elements of satellite communication
Frequency bands of satellite communication
Different orbits of satellite communication
Link budget calculations
Being a radio RJ is a hectic job but it can also be a fun and very rewarding career. Unlike many other jobs, it is not hectic in terms of worrisome stress. Rather, a RJ has to be a master of multi-tasking and time management.
There are many tasks to perform and processes to keep in mind while hosting a live show on-air. This guide will introduce you to some of the main responsibilities of a radio RJ during a show.
Presentation that discuss ,what's sound? how microphones works , microphones types ,it's block diagram and the dorectional pattern of each microphone and how sound recording works also a matlab example code for sound recording analysis and how the signal looks like in a plot

this is an seminar totally based upon how we are able to watch the television through satellite television
the method of transmiting and recieving is also discussed.
This book is aimed at enabling the learner utilize radio to produce news and appropriate programmes for the benefit of society.
At the end of this course the learner should be able to:

2. A Brief Idea
Satellite Radio is a radio which uses analogue or digital
radio signal that is relayed through one or more
satellite.
It can received in a much wider geographical area than
commonly used FM radio.
3. Origin
The World Space Corporation was founded in 1990 with a
vision to provide digital satellite audio, data, and
multimedia services.
To implement this vision, The company build the first ever
Satellite Radio infrastructure in the world and provide
audio, data and multimedia broadcasting coverage to
Africa and Asia.
4. Classification of Radio
Analogue Radio
Here the audio signal is piggybacked on carrier signal by
means of analogue modulation techniques.
E.g. A.M., F.M.
Digital Radio
Here the audio signal is digitalized and then transmitted
using digital modulation techniques.
E.g. Satellite radio , HD Radio
5. Comparison
F.M. Radio
Sound Quality: Good
Coverage Area: Small
Listening Option: Hand
full of local programs
Pricing: Free service
Satellite Radio
Sound Quality: Superior
Coverage Area: Very Large
Listening Option:
Hundreds of global
programs
Pricing: Small Subscription
Fee
6. System Design
The Radio uses the 2.3GHz S band signal.
2 or 3 satellite are sufficient to provide coverage for an
entire continent.
Local repeater can enable signals for broadcasting even if
the view of the satellite is blocked.
Each individual Satellite Radio (Receiver) has an
Electronic Serial Number(ESN) Radio ID.
7. Working
A single song, as it travels off a server is passed through
encoder combined with a multiplexer.
Signals gets bounced up onto the satellite (Uplink).
Satellite Amplifies and channelize them.
Then back down (Downlink) to the receivers.
Finally transforms into audible wave so that the primitive
human ears can enjoy it.
9. Advantages
The programs of Satellite radio is free from commercial
ads.
All satellite radio programs are uncensored.
Satellite radio can provide very high quality sound.
Another thing about satellite radio is the absence of
static.
It covers hundreds of stations so listeners can hear a wide
range of music and programs.
10. Limitations
Paid service, satellite radio is a paid subscription service.
Lack of Local Programming, Satellite systems also don't
carry local radio channels.
Satellite has less life which is about 12-15 years.
Redundant components are used in the network design.
This incur more cost in the installation.
11. Conclusions
Superb sound quality listeners are growing.
Combined work of Sirius Radio and XM Radio(Radio Marketer)
showing positive results.
Total audience has grown 21% since 1994(200 M).
Radio has added 35 Million listeners since 2005.
