Mr. G. Santhosh Kumar is a research associate who has developed real-time PCR diagnostic kits for diseases like malaria, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, dengue, rabies, HIV, and hepatitis C. He has experience designing primers and probes for infectious diseases, isolating nucleic acids, and standardizing real-time PCR assays. Previously, he purified proteins including streptolysin O, insulin, and interleukin-2.

Isolation of DNA and RNA – (from blood, plasma and sputum) using standard kits (spin
column based) and in-house method (silica coated iron nano particles based).
Design and development of real time PCR based diagnostic assays on Applied Biosystems
real time PCR and in-house fabricated chip based real time micro PCR device.
Developed qPCR kits for malaria, tuberculosis and hepatitis B.
Developed of Reverse Transcription qPCR for the diagnosis of Chikungunya, Dengue,
Rabies, HIV and Hepatitis C virus.
Melt curve analysis for the detection rifampicin resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis
and differentiation of HCV genotypes.
Standardization and immobilization of PCR master mix buffers.
Analysis of PCR product by agarose gel electrophoresis and melt curve.
2. Bioinformatics
Hands on experience in designing primers and Taqman probe for infectious disease.
Designed internal positive control for real time PCR.
Hands on experience in epitope prediction to develop immunoassay kits for infectious
diseases.

Cloning of PCR products using TA cloning kit for positive control.

Purification of antibodies from serum and cell culture medium using affinity, ion exchange

Production of polyclonal antibodies against peptides and proteins. Coupling of peptides,
antigens to CNBr Sepharose for purification of antibodies.
ELISA for acute kidney injury markers like NGAl and Cystatin C.
