Heian Japan Culture Analysis
First, however, understanding the socio political climate of Heian Japan is important, particularly in
how it pertains to the women of the noble class. The Japanese first began to develop a personalized
identity, separate from China soon after the Capital was moved from Nara to Heian kyo, what is now
modern day Kyoto, in 794. Prior to this period, the Japanese observed Chinese customs and cultural
nuances in all aspects of their life. They traveled back and forth from the island to the continent, wore
Chinese styled clothing, Buddhism was followed, Tendai and Shingon being primary and both out of
China, and much of custom and protocol was both the written and spoken word were Chinese. (See

King Lear Flaws
William Shakespeare is famous for the tragic plays that he wrote throughout his lifetime. Students
study some of his best known tragic works like Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and King Lear. These
tragic plays revolve around a character whose life is influential and heroic, known as the tragic hero.
The tragic hero is always a noble member of a royal family, who possesses a tragic flaw which leads
to his untimely death and the death of other characters around him, both innocent and guilty. Often
times, the tragic hero is a character whose flaw is exaggerated, for as a man of great heroism, his vices
must be equally great. Throughout the play, readers sympathize with the character recognizing their
own weakness as the character himself realizes his flaw and tries to right all of the wrong that has
been done. This is true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even those of royal blood themselves show King Lear the same respect anyone else would give him.
The Duke of Burgundy, one of Cordelia s suitor s addresses King Lear properly: Pardon me, royal sir;
/ Election makes not up in such conditions (Shakespeare 1.1. 204 205). Burgundy addresses King Lear
as royal sir, showing that he is of high noble status. King Lear bearing the title of King shows that he
is a male of noble birth and therefore fulfills the first trait of being a tragic hero.
Throughout the play, King Lear continuously proves that he is indeed, a tragic hero. As a King, his
nobility is unquestionable, but his tragic flaw of pride brings death to himself and others.
Unfortunately, once he realizes his mistakes and tries to fix them, it is too late, and both the guilty and
innocent pay the price of his pride. However, King Lear s value is not lost; readers of today can learn
from the mistakes of Lear and perhaps prevent the recurrence of such conflicts in their own lives.
Tragic heroes like Lear teach readers valuable life lessons that they can learn

Analysis Of The Book The Ghost
(Enter the Villan) Here she comes, dressed all in blue, from head to toe. She walks purposefully, her
long formal robe swishing against the floor as she stalks towards me. She looks elegant and cold, but
the menacing grin upon her face betrays her zeal. I catch a glimpse of the lightning in her forest green
eyes as she lurches forwards. I reel backwards, terrified of her ability to skewer my whole world. My
thoughts whirl around as I tumble ceaselessly. That face is unmistakable, the foul witch of Hal edon. It
s just a dream. Woken up from my restful slumber, I relive that nightmare. She s the ghost, the
apparition, the questionable spirit that haunts me both when I m asleep and awake. I stumble out of
bed, grabbing a nearby torch, and wiping the sleep from my face. My castle is silent and damp tonight.
Nearly too quiet for my own comfort. I still feel unsettled, as the thought of an attack runs rampant in
my head. I try to calm myself by pacing around my bed, but the rug is ever so slightly damp from the
humidity, and it makes the soles of my feet feel sticky. Listening for any noises, I try to be reassuring.
There is no one in the house. There aren t any noises in the house that would suggest people present. I
am safe. Suddenly the sound of small footsteps are audible from what I discern to be the cellar.
Gathering my courage, I carefully exit my room, and round the corner, my hand sliding across the
cool, rough stone wall. Tip toeing down the old

Example Of A Hero Of Brunhild
Sigurd is an example of a hero who follows a strong moral and ethical code. The most prominent
example of this occurs after he has rescued Brunhild from her castle for the second time while he is
disguised as his friend Gunnar. At this point in the story, Sigurd no longer remembers his love for
Brunhild because of a potion he was given. Therefore, he agrees to take the form of his friend so
Gunnar can marry Brunhild. Sigurd clearly cares very much about doing the right thing and keeping
the promise he made to Gunnar. In fact, Sigurd makes sure to place his sword between him and
Brunhild when they sleep together. It can be argued that Sigurd was willingly being deceptive towards
Brunhild, but this situation does show Sigurd s inner desire to be honorable by helping others and
fulfilling his promises. Additionally, when Sigurd is able recall the fact that he loves Brunhild, it is his
honor and recognition of the fact that she is someone else s wife that prevents him from acting on his
feelings. Bakaridjan Kone is another example of a hero who takes pride in his moral and ethical code.
He is even willing to die so that he may act in accordance with it. In the myth, Bakaridjan Kone makes
the imprudent decision to boast that I am so strong that if I were to stamp one foot, so much earth
would give way that the entire kingdom of Segu would be swallowed up! But the people would have
nothing to fear, for I could pull out all of Segu with one finger! But if I were to fall into

Death In Mary Oliver s Sleeping In The Forest
Mary Oliver s poem, Sleeping in the Forest, presents a peaceful and vivid representation of death and
its relationship with nature. As the poem begins, the reader is introduced to the earth welcoming the
speaker back into the realm of nature. Man was created from the dust of the earth and when we die,
our bodies return to the dust. However, this poem presents a more beautiful image of what death is
composed of. Death is often portrayed as being frightening and disturbing. When individuals are
presented with the thought of death, they often push this thought away out of fear and ignorance.
Everyone will die someday whether we ignore the thought of death or not. However, Oliver creates a
relaxing and welcoming image for the reader on what death (ideally) is. Obviously, since Oliver is still
alive, she doesn t know what death feels like. However, the way she describes death, I hope that it
feels like sleeping in a forest; full of stars and enchantment. The enchantment in this poem begins by
the earth welcoming the speaker back home. This speaker expresses that, She took me back so
tenderly. This statement exemplifies to the reader that death is not a scary process. In this case, the
earth is being portrayed as a woman. This is significant because women are often portrayed as being
nurturing and caring. For the reader, this can trigger memories or ideas of who the reader would
picture the earth as. Whether that be a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, etc. the reader can

The Political Establishment in Germany Succeeded in...
The political establishment in Germany succeeded in maintaining the political status quo through a
policy of moderate reform. How far do you agree with this statement?
The political establishment during the Second Reich in Germany were successful in maintaining the
political status quo between the years 1871 and 1918. It can be argued however, that they were
successful in doing so through more than just a policy of moderate reform. During these years,
Germany abided by a rigid constitution which allowed power to ultimately be firmly held in the hands
of the Kaiser. A great sense of nationalism and patriotism also existed in Germany and the vast
majority of the German population heavily valued the Kaiser. Furthermore, the constitution ... Show

In 1902, during Von Bulow s chancellorship, the Tariff Law was introduced which put higher duties on
imported grain and thus raised food prices. Despite the Kaiser heavily approving of the Tariff Law, it
served to turn worker support away from the Kaiser s system and to the SPD. This can be seen in the
sharp rise of votes in the 1903 general election. This may suggest that moderate reform was never the
mechanism to keep power in the hands of the old elites or maintain the status quo. However, the threat
of Socialism was undoubtedly overestimated by the political establishment who were under the
misconception that the Socialist movement was wholly revolutionary. It may therefore be argued that
since the threat of the socialists was smaller than perceived, it was in fact the existing structures of the
Kaiserreich that maintained the political status quo.
It could be argued that under Bulow s chancellorship, the fact that he carried such an interest and
passion in foreign policy, allowed stability to remain as policies such as Weltpolitik and
Sammlungspolitik helped to reduce conflicting interests on the domestic front. However, Bulow was
confronted with the difficulty of financing Weltpolitik as the government had been in deficit since
1900. Bulow s proposition to raise indirect taxes and introduce an inheritance tax created immediate
opposition. Bulow proceeded to form

Dunkirk Or Dunkirque In France
Dunkirk or Dunkirque, is in France. Infamously known for Dunkirk evacuation, this small town went
from a peaceful settlement into a brave town of soldiers. In 1940, from May 26 to June 4, Allie
soldiers were exposed to what could have been one of the worse massacres in history. In a span of ten
days, sailors, fishermen, or anybody with a boat, saved 350,000 British, French, and Belgium soldiers
from Dunkirk. The evacuation was very successful. For every eight men on the Dunkirk port, seven of
them were rescued. The unfortunate ones became prisoners of war to Germany.
In 1940, during the beginning of World War II, France was becoming progressively weaker. The Allies
were losing the war, so Great Britain wanted to pull their troops out.

Communication in Organisation
COMMUNICATION IN AN ORGANIZATION
INTRODUCTION
Humans communicate all the time, and most of the time we do it as a matter of course, without
thinking about it. We can define it in the following way:
 Communication is one of the basic functions of management in any organization and its importance
can hardly be overemphasized. It is a process of transmitting information, ideas, thoughts, opinions
and plans between various parts of an organization.
 Communication is the process of conveying information from a sender to a receiver with the use of
a medium in which the communicated information is understood the same way by both sender and
receiver. Communication is important in an organization because it creates mutual understanding ...

Communication in an organization can be for the following reasons:
For motivation and employee morale:
Communication is also a basic tool for motivation, which can improve morale of the employees in an
organization. Inappropriate or faulty communication among employees or between manager and his
subordinates is the major cause of conflict and low morale at work. Manager should clarify to
employees about what is to be done, how well are they doing and what can be done for better
performance to improve their motivation. He can prepare a written statement, clearly outlining the
relationship between company objectives and personal objectives and integrating the interest of the
two.
For increase productivity:
With effective communication, you can maintain a good human relation in the organization and by
encouraging ideas or suggestions from employees or workers and implementing them whenever

Drug Subdiction And Drug Addiction
Drug addiction is a crippling problem in the United States, and has the possibility of affecting every
single person. May it be from someone in the upper class, to a single mother who is living in poverty,
this form of substance abuse is becoming more and more abundant in recent times. Unfortunately,
many people who have never dealt with or looked into substance abuse often blame the individual for
what happened. The sociological imagination, on the other hand, says otherwise. According to C
Wright Mills sociological imagination, private troubles, such as substance abuse, often have a root in
public issues of social structure. Sadly, the societal roots of many issues are not seen by others,
causing the individual and their choices to be seen as the cause of their problem. In turn, this view
may support a punitive perspective against the person in question. In the case of Brittney May, her
drug addiction had started at a relatively young age, and as a result of it, she had ended up in prison.
Although she has been released after her first long sentence, she ended up being convicted again, and
is currently in prison. Additionally, her prison sentence ended up making her lose custody of her child.
Fortunately, her old mother agreed to take care of that child.
Growing up in a low income bracket neighborhood, Brittney was already placed in a society which
had a number of adverse effects on her. Ranging from negative peer pressure from the children
surrounding her, to the

The Great Moai Statues Of Easter Island
Similarities and differences are what make things so interesting. Would you be happy if everyone was
the same. Every looked the same, and liked the same things and hated the same things. No you wouldn
t because you would want to be you and no one can tell you what you want to be or what you don t
want to be. Even the buildings you make would be the same from a normal house to a normal office
building. The Panama Canal was one of the most useful canals ever built and they were made to for
one reason and that was to transport goods. This was somethings everyone needed to solve at that
time(1900s). The great Moai statues of Easter Island are also great structures and are really
tremendous to the eye. These buildings and canals were made to one purpose they had to do
somethings and that something was to make things easier for the people. Some similarities they had
were that they both took a long time and sacrifice to build. A difference they had was that they were
built for different purposes and they had their own different struggles.
Predominantly, The Panama Canal was one of the greatest structures built by mankind. The Moai as
well were something to be fascinated by because they were beautiful creations made by us. The one
thing they both have in common was that they both took a long time to build. The Moai took
approximately about 10 15 years to build and that was with the help of mana which was part of the
belief and if that wouldn t of existed it probably

I Am A Native Staten Islander
I am a native Staten Islander. Both my parents and set of grandparents were born on Staten Island as
well, so it s no surprise I was too. Much of my family lives on Staten Island and my whole childhood
memories and reflections are all based off being Staten Island. I do appreciate the childhood memories
I have as well as some of the people I have met, but I have mixed feelings overall about where I am
from and most days I do not like it. I definitely agree it has both it s pro s and con s at times.
As much as I hate to admit it, there are things I enjoy about Staten Island. Most of these things come
from believe it or not, the few tourist attractions Staten Island is home of. The architecture on Staten
Island isn t bad. I think the Verazzano Narrows bridge speaks volume when it comes to that, which
connects from Staten Island to Long Island and is visible from a spot in all 5 boroughs. My personal
favorite starts with the Historic Richmond Town which was founded as the Staten Island Historical
Society in 1856. The museum s focus creates opportunities for the public to explore the diversity of
the American experience from the colonial period to the present. Richmond town is 100 acres
consisting of 28 historic buildings dating from the late 17th to early 20th centuries, half still standing
at their original locations which makes the experience visiting overall more realistic and interesting.
Another reason I like Staten Island is because of Fort Wadsworth, which is one

The Hepatitis C Virus
Acute viral hepatitis is the most common form of infectious hepatitis. There are five distinct viruses
types A, B, C, D, and E. Diagnostic markers of viral hepatitis include elevation of aspartate
aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, gammaglutamyl transferase, white blood cell count, and
prothrombin time.
Hepatitis C is an infectious disease that primarily affects the liver, caused by the Hepatitis C virus
(HCV).
The cause of HCV, is a spherical, enveloped, single stranded RNA virus belonging to the Flaviviridae
family and Flavivirus genus. The natural targets of HCV are hepatocytes and, possibly, B
lymphocytes. Lauer and Walker reported that HCV is closely related to hepatitis G. HCV can produce

Lichen Planus
Lichen Planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory cutaneous disease that frequently involves oral mucosa.
Common symptoms are oral pain or a burning sensation, especially with acidic or spicy foods.
Symptoms are often irrespective of the clinical presentation. There is evidence of an association
between HCV and Oral Lichen Planus (OLP); however, this varies by region and further studies are
needed to fully confirm the relationship.
Diagnosis of OLP should involve a referral to a trained clinician in oral medicine or maxillofacial
surgery. The principles behind treatment of OLP are symptom management, immune modulation,
monitoring and education. Treatment of OLP is usually reserved for disease that is symptomatic.
Topical corticosteroids are normally the main choice of treatment for OLP.

Biography Of Nicolaus Copernicus s Discovery Of...
Ages Through Science
In Latin America and Europe, people started to question the Catholic Church and began doubting if
the Church was abusing their power. After the Scientific Revolution, philosophical thinkers and
scientists discovered new theories, such as gravitational physics laws and other opinions written in
books. Nicolaus Copernicus s discovery of heliocentrism transformed astronomy, his writings changed
the people s perspective of the universe further challenging the Catholic Church s beliefs.
Before Copernicus, people made scientific discoveries such as Aristarchus of Samos (310 230 BCE),

Most of his theory was correct, but one thing was incorrect, that being the path of orbit is circular.
People, during this time, were starting to break out of their shells and learning about new things and
ideas, but the Catholic Church, being the basis of life, disapproved. This shows that people wanted to
discover and educate themselves, but they couldn t with the church having power over them. Since
Aristarchus s theory was unprovable during that time since there were no telescopes or satellites, the
church quickly dismissed it. In the webpage, Nicolaus Copernicus, it is stated that Aristarchus used the
concept of parallax to show that the stars were a very large distance from Earth and to do that he must
have expanded the size of the universe enormously. These ideas contradicted what the Bible said, so
he was considered a sinner and people didn t want to agree and fall into the bandwagon. Due to people
s fear of the Church, many people went against their will and didn t get a chance to discover. During
Aristarchus s time, people suppressed new ideas and became subjects of the church. On the other
hand, Aristarchus tried his best to be strong in his ideas, but he didn t survive. Another astronomer and
mathematician before Copernicus was Ptolemy (90 168 AD) who also formed incorrect theories and
promoted the Church s power over the people. In Nicolaus Copernicus Biography, Biography.com

Messenger RNA Essay
There are three types of RNA: mRNA, tRNA, and rRNA. Messenger RNA (mRNA) is synthesized
from a gene segment of DNA which ultimately contains the information on the primary sequence of
amino acids in a protein to be synthesized. The genetic codes is translated is for mRNA, not DNA.
The messenger RNA carries the code from the nucleus to the ribosome in the cytoplasm where protein
synthesis occurs. It also carries the genetic information copied from the DNA in the form of a series of
three base code words , also known as triplets, each of which specifies a particular amino acid. Each
nucleotide triplet, called a codon, can be read from the mRNA and translated into an amino acid to be
incorporated into a protein being synthesized. Messenger RNA is a ... Show more content on

The tRNA molecules is made up of a single strand of RNA consisting of about 80 nucleotides. By
twisting and folding upon itself, tRNA forms several double stranded regions in which short stretched
of RNA pair with other stretches. There is a single stranded loop at one end of the RNA and it contains
a special triplet of nitrogen bases called an anticodon. The anticodon triple on tRNA is complementary
to a triplet codon on the mRNA. At the other end of the tRNA molecule is a site where an amino acid
can attach. This specific structure of the tRNA gives tRNA its ability to match a particular nucleic acid
word (codon) with its corresponding protein word (amino acid). There are about 45 different type soft
RNAs, each with a certain shape and a specific anticodon. The third type of RNA is the ribosomal
RNA (rRNA). In the cytoplasm, rRNA and several proteins combine to form a nucleoprotein called a
ribosome. The ribosome serves as the site and carries the enzymes necessary for protein synthesis.
Ribosomes are where protein synthesis actually takes place; they consist of two subunits a large

Yellowstone National Park is a truly unique place. Few places in the world contain such amazing
biodiversity, and such a wide variety of species in such a condensed area. While many scientists have
been interested in studying the various plants and animals that inhabit Yellowstone, a group of
microorganisms that has been of special interest in the past few years are Yellowstone s extremophiles
the microorganisms that inhabit Yellowstone s thermal springs. Extremophiles have opened the eyes of
science to the possibilities of life in extreme conditions, helping us to understand how they adapt to
such seemingly inhospitable environments. They have also helped us to make several important
advances in the fields of medicine and biotechnology. Before the discovery of extremophiles in
Yellowstone, it was widely believed that life simply could not survive at extremely high temperatures,
as extremely high temperatures quickly denature proteins in cells. Although most organisms are
unable to survive in such extreme climates, the microorganisms that inhabit Yellowstone s thermal

Roman slavery was a very big part of the Roman lives. Slavery was an important feature of the roman

Many people sold themselves into slavery to pay off depths. If people needed money to pay things off,
they would often sell themselves into slavery or get brought in. Some became slaves because they
could not pay back the money they had borrowed. The government would take people into slavery if
they could not pay their taxes. There were also many cases of poor people selling their children as

A Critical Analysis Of The Uk s Compensation Culture
A critical analysis of the UK s Compensation Culture
Does UK law encourage people to blame and claim ?
Compensation culture is a culture where individuals try to get compensation for any loss, damage, or
suffering caused by another individual. This commonly stretches to include incidents that have weak
or insubstantial links between the claimant and defendant (Horsey and Rackley 2009). Lord Falconer
the former Lord Chancellor defines compensation culture as
...a catch all expression... it s the idea that for every accident someone is at fault. For every injury,
someone to blame. And, perhaps most damaging, for every accident, there is someone to pay (Lord
Falconer, 2005). This essay will briefly explain negligence and its elements and will further critically
analyse the UK compensation culture and discuss whether it exist, or whether it is a perception created
by the media. This essay will further discuss whether the UK laws encourage people to blame and
claim and what the UK law has done to prevent an increase in the compensation culture. The tort of
negligence was established with the leading case of Donoghue v Stevenson (1932) . Donoghue got
sick from having a drink in a café after finding a snail in the bottle. Around this time, there was no
route for litigation due to no contractual association. The only contractual commitment was with

Summary Of The Fairy Forest In A Tale Of A Short Story
The forest of Quedayla, is located next to the swamp. The swamp is where the terrifying monsters, by

dangerous swamp creatures that lurk among them. One of the monsters in the swamp is Fowley the

of the swamp. So, she devised a plan to turn their beautiful home into a place to fear, just like they did

its path to dead remains. Under the cloak of night, she snuck to the outskirts of the fairy village,
located at the heart of Quedayla. Where she placed the tar like substance at the foot of an old oak tree
and it started to decay. At a slower rate than Fowley was hopping, but she had no time to fix it,
because there are fairy guards patrolling the border of the fairy village, to ensure everyone in the
village stayed safe. The next day in the fairy village, in the afternoon Lily went to the training field for

These young people were growing their hair long, participating in free love, and flexing their flower
power. The hippie generation was not all about rebelling againsed their parents or doing drugs and
having sex, Hippies are people who believe that the way to peace is love. They believe that in order to
love one another it is important that they accept one another for who they are but the people in their
time others did not see this. They just saw kids that were breaking the law. They did many wild things
that people other than the hippies frowned upon like, doing many different drugs and experimenting
with sex, listening to loud music and holding war protests. One of the Hippie s foundations was the of

Sex was also a big part of the Hippie culture. The Hippie Generation thought that sex was almost like
a drug used for physical pleasure, Sex to them was supposed to be free and fun, not forced but not
frowned upon. Most of the drug use and sex occurred during their concerts they held. The Trips
festival, Woodstock and free concerts by The Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane were a big part of
the Hippie Generation and how they went about their daily lives. There were two main parks where
these events occurred, one was the Golden Gate Park the other was Buena Vista Park. The main park
that held most of the festivals and the most famous festival was the Golden Gate Park, it held the Trips
Festival which was a week long festival created to celebrate the LSD experience. the Festival involved
many different bands singing about drugs and other things the hippies did. One other really big rally
held in 1969 was called Woodstock, 400,000 hippies gathered together for three days to listen to rock
and blues music, wear funny clothing or no clothes at all, to talk, sing, dance, to drink beer or smoke
pot and make love. This was held in a small town in New York. The fun ended when anyone brought

Executive Summary
This report was written to analyze the competition among the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
industry segment, especially as it relates to the relationship between Skype and AT amp;T and the
competition between the VoIP market and the land line market. In analyzing this segment we found
that VoIP is a growing industry in what has historically been predominately a land line
telecommunication company such as AT amp;T.
The industry segment is faced with a rivalry type competitive market that is ... Show more content on

With a roughly 5 percent market share by the end of 2010, VoIP was still a small competitor in the
industry.
A major opportunity for VoIP providers was to capitalize on the cellular market. Experts predicted
that, by 2019, half of all mobile calls would be over IP networks. The IP connections would be
available through VoIP applications that ran through a cellular device. Mobile VoIP applications are
expected to reach 278 million users, generating a $32.2 billion profit.
What does the five forces analysis reveal about the chances for profitability in the VoIP industry?3
1. Current sellers competing in the market * It s been good times to be a VoIP user, and bad ones to be
Skype. * To a great extent, up until now Skype has had a lock on the consumer P2P VoIP market, and
even though it s recent move into business VoIP hasn t been universally well received, things looked
rosy for the company in that market as well. * But a trio of competitors makes the future less rosy for
Skype. Yahoo, the well financed startup Jajah, and the big Web site Lycos have all released no cost or
low cost VoIP P2P solutions recently, attempting to muscle in on Skype.
2. Threat of new competitors market entry * Possibly the most intriguing of the group is the European
based Jajah. The service requires no client to

Historical Accuracy Of Pompeii
The movie Pompeii is based on the eruption of Mount Vesuvius that destroyed the Roman city of
Pompeii. Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD, destroying the city and killing all of its inhabitants. The
movie did do a fairly good job of portraying the correct historical details of what this day in history
would have actually been like.
For the opening of the movie the writings of Pliny the younger, a young man who witnessed the
eruption and wrote about the occurrences of that day, were quoted. Although Pliny had written the
description of the day many years after the eruption, it is the best description on what actually
happened. The producers of the movie also used footage of the actual ruins of Pompeii to help recreate
the city for the set and any green screen footage. By using photos of the ruins they were able to rebuild
the city over the ruins and were able to seek help from archaeologists to ensure that the recreation was

during the times of the Roman Empire she would not have held any real power. Also, the destruction
of the city did not match the real accounts of what had happened in order to dramatize the story more.
In the description left by Pliny, the city would be covered in up to sixteen feet of ash and would have
more molten lava flowing toward the city. In the movie it showed large fireballs flying toward the city
and not as much ash falling over the city. At the end of the movie is where the ash begins to take

have happened. The casts of the people of Pompeii were also created instantly in the film, but the ash

Effects Of Sorcery On Aboriginals In Australia
There are multiple, small, Aboriginal camps located in a small town of Australia called Coen. This
was the central region for people of the Aboriginal culture. After the 1990s, some of the camps were
moved farther from their central area in Coen and moved closer to other cultures while some camps
stay stationed in Coen. Since they have moved closer to other cultures, they are getting wrapped into
modern, Australian culture and are moving farther from how their ancestors originally did things such

One form is when a sorcerer uses projectiles. A sorcerer throws sharp objects including fish hooks or
stones and it hits the victim. Healers heal the victim by removing said object from the body. Another
form of sorcery is the use of poison is food or drinks. This mainly takes place where the majority of
the population hangs out and socializes which in the Aboriginal culture of coen is their version of a
bar. When a person leaves their drink sitting on a table and walk away, a sorcerer will come and
quickly place poison into it. If you visit this particular bar you will be warned by multiple people to
keep your drink in hand or in eye s sight and never leave it alone and vulnerable to sorcery. This can
also be done by shadows that stay in dark places where no one usually goes and wait for someone to
come to them by themselves. These shadows will remove blood and organs and then stitch up their
patient and bring them back to life. These victims tend to die a few days after they are brought back to
life. The younger men are taught about drinking blood by older men of the culture and they would
attack a drink the blood of other Aboriginal people. The third form of sorcery is done by sorcerers that

Investment Decisions Are At The Core Of The Financial World
Investment decisions are at the core of the majority of the financial world. On a daily basis, individual
investors, banks, bankers and management companies attempt to optimize their select investments in
financial markets around the world. Companies purchase portions of other companies or sell off
divisions within their own in global mergers and acquisitions market in order to change the strategic
path of their business. On the other hand, companies will face the constant challenge to determine
their ideal investments into new factories, marketing strategies, or major research. Many investment
decisions are moderately complex. Generally, they involve complicated considerations on projected
gains out of the deal as well as a comprehensive analysis of the risk that is related to the investment.
Therefore, a comprehensive investment assessment should be required for any investment decision.
One of the most important decisions for any business is an investment with the purpose of making
profits in the future. Investment decisions are concerned with the use of resources, including
purchasing or selling and every decision could be vital to a company. Any casual decision can result in

Monetary Policy Provided By Federal Reserve System
Macroeconomic sentiment
Over the past couple of years we have seen a huge surge in stock markets (Chart#1). The main reason
for such moves is Quantitative Easing monetary policy provided by Federal Reserve System since late
2008. Purchases were halted on 29 October 2014 after accumulating $4.5 trillion in assets or 26% of
GDP. The key outlook is tend to be consumer behavior, because households spending represents two
thirds of GDP, which is broadest measure of economic activity. The job market is considerably
stronger right now. Since June last year, payroll employments expanded by $2.2 million jobs
(Chart#2), which represents 2.4 percent annual rate of increase. As a result, incomes are rising rapidly.

One more reason for such situation is recently surged value of the dollar.
Understanding the fact, that falling commodity prices and rising dollar cannot last indefinitely, and
maybe even bottomed out for now, I see a lot of perspectives within these markets in one year period.
Moreover, a lot of forecasters expect inflation to move toward two percent goal during this year,
which will result in substantial rise in commodity prices. Although, it is a controversial issue
according to the FED projections for the current and the next year, which have been lowered from
previous numbers (Table#1).
In this case, Fed is unlikely to tight money supply by increasing federal funds rate, which is currently
zero and is a frequently debatable topic. Such policy has a positive impact on a stock market.

Development Of Aging Or Mid Life Crisis
There will come a time when one has to come to terms of aging or mid life crisis. According to
Weaver (2009) the major psychological changes occur in childhood. The author also noted that Freud
also mentioned that all stages of the psychosexual development are also completed in early childhood
(pp.69). Freud and Freud also had differences when it referred to coming of age (Weaver, 2009). Jung
saw mid life not as a crisis, but put the emphasis on growth and maturation (pp.70). Most of the clients
that Freudians seen were experiencing neurosis, this put a different perspective on their adjustment to
life, while Jung s patients were socially adaptable (Weaver, 2009). Jung did not see mid life crisis of
balancing the self, social world with a deepening meaning. Jung thought that people of mid life, were
developed, one side, of their life, and now lacks meaning (Weaver, 2009). Now the existentialist view
was in contrast with the psychodynamic view and believed that people in this stage of life gravitating
towards meanings and values (Frankl, 1967). This was evident of a study done in the 1960 at a Vienna
Hospital; it showed that 55% existential frustration and half expressed life are meaningless (Frankl,
1967). Carl Rodgers had some similarities with Frankl s perspective on mid life crisis (pp.73).
Rodgers looked at it from a humanistic approach, while asking existential question such as; What is
my purpose? (pp. 73). Rodgers noted that the process of the coming of self is

This poem is one of the many exceptional sonnets the writer, William Wordsworth has written in the
1800 s as he feels emotional and spiritual to nature. Sonnets are fourteen line poetic inventions written
mostly using the iambic parameter. This specific structure of the poem is a Petrarchan sonnet or also
known as the Italian sonnet divided into two parts known as the Octave (first eight lines of the poem)
and a Sestet (last six lines of the poem). In this poem, the octave has a rhyme scheme of ABBAABBA

Nowadays these words seem old fashioned: thou beauteous , o er , walkest , liest , thee , worshipp st .
These words can also be found in the religious book of Christians called the Bible which emphasizes
the religious aspects nature has within itself. There is also a great deal of comparison between
Christians and nature displayed in the poem with the use of words such as Abraham, Nun, heaven etc.
The speaker also contrasts himself as a mere thinker to the little girl who puts no effort at all but she is
intimately linked to nature and its serenity. The poem is carried out in a respectful and serious tones
using words like holy time showing emphasis on religion and God is with thee when we know it not
also showing spirituality knowing there is a supreme being that watches over us all, the tone could
also be described as affectionate and gentle using the words Dear and emphasizing it twice to show
affection and care to this little girl and praises her natural quality.
There is also a variety of figures of speech used throughout the poem: metaphor Thou liest in
Abraham s bosom comparing how blessed the young girl is God s court. Simile the holy time is quiet
as a Nun comparing the serenity and peace of that moment is like being in the presence of Gods
worship and a sound like thunder comparing the oceanic waves

Ken Kesey s One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest is a unique fiction novel about oppression and
rebellion in an American 1950 s Mental Hospital. In this highly distinctive novel, setting definitely

The interiors are also significant as it is a representation of how society applied their expectations of
each other. Throughout the McCarthy period, there was the great threat of the Russians, the
communists, who could potentially use nuclear technology to attack America. Also, any person who
unpatriotically supported communism was harshly dealt with. These events were represented in an
exact scale model of the Mental Institution. Anyone who dared to cause an uproar was humiliated in
group therapy sessions, or given Electroshock Therapy, or in extreme cases such as McMurphy,

Setting is also important, as it refers to the period this book was set in, the 1950 s. Ultimately, it is a
reflection of what was happening in American society at the time, and what American society
expected from each other. McCarthyism, as started by Senator Joseph McCarthy, was the most
prevalent movement of the 1950 s, where there was great momentum for anti communism and the
suppression of the Anti communist party. Freedom of speech was suppressed, just like speech and

Future Challenges
Historically speaking, Canada has never been a great market for American retailers. The Canadian
dollar was weak, costs were higher, and with limited real estate development, it was difficult to find
space. Not anymore, now the door to Canada is opening wider than ever thanks to a stronger Canadian
dollar, a relatively robust economy, and a loosening of the commercial real estate market, in part
because of the downsizing of some longtime retailers like Sears Canada. For American retailers,
Canada s allure is simple; sales per square foot at Canadian malls were almost 50 percent higher in

Industries alleged that the company had systematically violated state laws by failing to pay employees
for a variety of duties, such as delivering merchandise and doing inventory work. The agency ordered
Nordstrom to change its compensation and record keeping procedures, and to pay back wages to some
of Nordstrom s 30,000 employees. Soon after, the firm created a $15 million reserve to pay back wage
claims. The company, however, remained a target of class action lawsuits on these matters, which
were finally settled out of court in early 1993 when Nordstrom agreed to pay a set percentage of
compensation to employees who worked at Nordstrom from 1987 to 1990. The settlement cost the
company between $20 million and $30 million.

One specific competitive advantage Macy s holds over Nordstrom s is its target demographic. While
Nordstrom s focuses mainly on career moms between the ages of 35 and 50, Macy s recently launched

I say this in light I could call my own experience, and it makes sense that an individual in a position of

Organizational Structure
Making of Rules to Govern Performance Rules should be indicated out speak to authority decisions

Case Study Of Guna Fibress
Background
Guna Fibres, Ltd is a textile manufacturing company founded in 1972 and situated at Guna, India. Ms
Surabhi Kumar is the managing director and principal owner while Mr Malik is the bookkeeper. This
company utilizes the technology and domestic raw materials to expand its franchises. It supplies fibre

The Problem
The main problem of the company is that it couldn t liquidate a seasonal working capital loan for the

Gupta s recommendation to use level annual production. Gupta believes that level production has two
main advantages. First, under level production, Guna does not need seasonal hiring and layoff, thereby
maintaining a more stable workforce. Secondly, level production can reduce the manufacturing risk, to
decrease the profitability of equipment breakdown in peak season, due to a large amount of production
request. The cost of equipment breakdown will be huge since Guna s production will be out of stock
in the peak season. Based on Gupta s estimation, using level production will reduce the company s
direct labor and other direct manufacturing cost from 34% to 29% of its purchases. The impact of
Gupta s proposal is illustrated in Exhibit 8, Guna s note payables shows that company cannot clean up

Perils Of Knowledge In Frankenstein
The Perils of Knowledge Ever since man stepped foot on Earth, the search for knowledge has been
neverending. Within the past few centuries, man reached new heights never before dreamed of when it
came to information and inventions. Mary Shelley s Frankenstein embodies this quest for intellect.
Victor Frankenstein, the main character, sets off on a journey to acquire as much education as
possible, but by doing so ends up creating a shockwave of various effects. Thus, Frankenstein displays
how the obsessive pursuit of and acquirement of knowledge leads to extraordinary accomplishments,
such as new technology and inventions. However, at the same time, this impulse spurs nefarious
actions and consequences. Victor Frankenstein is the first character in the novel. His life starts in a
wealthy and noble family and after some time decides to attend the University of Ingolstadt to study
sciences. Victor becomes so obsessed with his studies that the stars often appeared in the light of
morning whilst I was yet engaged in my laboratory , (30). Studying night and day, Victor eventually
made some discoveries in the improvement of some chemical instruments , a contribution that
undoubtedly led to improvements in the science and medical aspects of the 19th century (31).
However, the main focus of Victor s compulsive studies comes later in the novel when he creates the
creature. He grasped for the idea of creating a living human frame from scratch: a concept that had

Bruce Tuckman s Stages Of Team Development
Grow your Team With Team Development Techniques
The team development model of:
Forming Storming Norming Performing was proposed in 1965 by American psychologist Bruce
Tuckman.
The Forming Storming Norming Performing model describes a set of stages in training that a group
must go through in order to be able to achieve maximum potential.
As the name implies, the Forming Storming Norming Performing model show the four ordered stages
a team must go through before they become like a well oiled machine.
Forming
The first stage of training, forming, is when the team is just getting to know each other. Each has his
or her own ideas, which are usually independent of the other. There is minimum cooperation and
integration of ideas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stage is when the concept of Forming Storming Norming Performing is introduced to the team.
Storming
This is the stage where the concepts of each member come together for the first time. This is where
members of the team experience their ideas being criticized, improved, and commented on by their
colleagues.
Storming not only refers to the concept of brainstorming , but also to the stormy stage of team
development.
Some immature members will not appreciate their ideas being criticized, and their behavior might
serve as a deterrent for the team to move on to the next stage of thier development.
It s up to the supervisor or team leader to decide how to deal with this kind of attitude.
Norming
Once the stormy phase is over the team reaches the stage where they start to work together
collectively. They re more familiar with each other s attitudes, work ethics, and tastes in terms of ideas
and work output.
What you should look out for in this phase, is the tendency for team members to completely lose their
individual tastes and ideas, and slowly become accustomed to agreeing with each other all the

The Photographer Into Afghanistan With Doctors Without...
In The Photographer Into War Torn Afghanistan with Doctors Without Borders, one of the themes
evident within the book is the difference between the stereotypes of Afghan people and who they
actually are. The photographer, Didier Lefevre, is fueled by, a profound respect and love for the
people of Afghanistan, and a belief in the importance of their work ( Lefevre x). The importance in
that work was to show humanity in the faces the media portrays as terrorists. The media also portrays
Afghanis for being uneducated, sheltered, and driven by religion. Throughout the book there are
examples of Afghans that deserve empathy, but one page stood out from the rest: page 176. It displays
Bassir Khan s businessmen and bodyguard sitting unamused in the first panel, with the follow up
panels of them leaving Didier in the room. The first panel in specific represents both the humanitarian
and sheltered themes of the book. What is most interesting about the first panel, is the image itself
confirms racial ambiguities. The men shown are of darker complexions, which is perceived as being
inferior to whites. On top of that, it confirms that non whites are violent, as one of the men are holding
a gun. They are all men, wearing turbans and hats and worn down jackets. Peering at the first panel
makes readers think Lefevre failed his mission to humanize Afghanis, but a closer look at the narrator
s block tells another story.

Fundamental Principles Of The Metaphysics Of Morals By Kant
In, Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant states his belief that philosophy is
divided into three parts. The three parts of philosophy include, physics, ethics, and logic. Kant states
that all rational knowledge is either material or formal. Formal/natural philosophy is known as logic,
while material/moral philosophy has to do with reasons. Moral principles, are centered on theories of
reason, rather than character and value. If your actions are taken for morals alone, rather than any
other reason, they are considered morals. Also, an action is judged on the reason it was taken, rather
than the result of that action. Furthermore, if you respect and act in accordance with moral law, then
your actions are moral.

Broken Spears Summary
The book, Broken Spears was an interesting reading that talked about the Spanish conquest of
Tenochtitlan. Throughout the book, it becomes clear that the Spanish were successful in their conquest
as a result of a number of factors. The Spanish were intimidating in appearance and in their weaponry.
They had animals that the Aztecs had never seen before. They also formed alliances with rival tribes,
like the Tlaxcaltecas tribe. Finally, one of the key reasons that the Spaniards were able to successfully
conquer the Aztecs was due to the fact that Motecuhzoma himself, believed that Cortes and his men
were gods. In regards appearance, the Spanish were essentially covered from head to toe in iron armor.
Even the weapons they carried were covered in iron. The Aztecs were unaccustomed to the iron clad
individuals. In regards to weaponry, the Spanish were, even more, intimidating in the fact that they
had cannons. The Aztecs describe the cannon to Motecuhzoma, a thing like a ball of stone comes out
of its entrails: it comes shooting sparks and raining fire...smoke that comes out of it has a pestilent
odor. The odor penetrates even the brain and causes great discomfort ( 30). For me personally, the only
reason I can think of for Cortes to fire off a cannon was to show dominance over the Indians. For
people who had never even heard of a cannon before, it is understandable that the Native Americans
were fearful of Cortes and his men. Along with the iron clad armor and weapons the

What Is The Critique Of The Columbian Exchange Critique
Critique of The Columbian Exchange Crosby, Alfred W. The Columbian Exchange: Biological and
Cultural Consequences of 1492. 30th Anniversary ed. Westport, CT: Praeger, 2003. Print. 256 Pages.
Book obtained through Amazon. Alfred Crosby shares the events that follow Christopher Columbus
arrival at the Bahamas in 1492. Through this non fiction work, readers can stay informed about the
details that affect our life. Regarding Crosby, his credentials can be found on the page titled About the
Author at the end of his book: Alfred W. Crosby, Jr., is Professor Emeritus of American Studies,
History, and Geography at the University of Texas, Austin. His field of expertise qualifies him to write
on the subject, the Columbian exchange. He presents facts with items such as quotes, statistics, and
past occurrences. It is clear that Crosby has done a significant amount of research because he
acknowledges the grant that Washington State University provided and his bibliography is sixteen
pages long. The techniques authors adopt are important because they contribute to the writing style.
Throughout most of the book, I am able to comprehend the language easily. Although I did encounter
medical and scientific terms that I had to confirm the meaning of. It seems as though Crosby tends to
get carried away with the usage of statistics when he gets the chance. Constantly supplying numbers
doesn t give the reader enough time to digest the information. Not only that, but I found myself

Civil War Book Report
In a ten state campaign, Tony Horwitz sets out on an investigative adventure to find out why people
still care about the Civil War. Horwitz, a winner of the Pulitzer Prize for national reporting, a former
reporter for The Wall Street Journal, and a staff writer for The New Yorker (at the time of publishing)
travels throughout the southern states, conducting interviews with prominent Civil War thinkers and
local men and women about their passion for the war, and attending different events put on by groups
dedicated to the memory of the war. While he doesn t find a definitive answer for his question,
Horwitz presents often unthinkable accounts from different people and the source of their passion and
remembrance for the Civil War. Horwitz s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Horwitz does a phenomenal job in interviewing the Westerman family, and the Freddie Morrow, the
shooter, and even attends the trial of Morrow. In this chapter, Horwitz is able to present both sides of
the murder, and the lasting effect on both. Horwitz also succeeds in starting conversations with the
people he s interviewing, which also secures him invites to Civil War related events, which adds
another view to his narrative. One of Horwitz s flaws throughout the novel is his passiveness when
interviewing someone. Instead of prodding their beliefs and discussing their statements, he is just
there seeming to come more from more a distance with more of a somber attitude in regards to those
he s interviewing and not speaking up when they say problematic statements. Despite these
shortcomings, Horwitz s narrative secures its place in the modern political climate in regards to the
controversies surrounding Civil War monuments and the Confederate battle flag by presenting one of
side s views about the Civil War that often goes

The Japanese first began to develop a personalized identity, separate from China soon after the Capital was moved from Nara to Heian kyo, what is now modern day Kyoto, in 794. Prior to this period, the Japanese observed Chinese customs and cultural nuances in all aspects of their life. They traveled back and forth from the island to the continent, wore Chinese styled clothing, Buddhism was followed, Tendai and Shingon being primary and both out of China, and much of custom and protocol was both the written and spoken word were Chinese. • 4. King Lear Flaws William Shakespeare is famous for the tragic plays that he wrote throughout his lifetime. Students study some of his best known tragic works like Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and King Lear. These tragic plays revolve around a character whose life is influential and heroic, known as the tragic hero. The tragic hero is always a noble member of a royal family, who possesses a tragic flaw which leads to his untimely death and the death of other characters around him, both innocent and guilty. Often times, the tragic hero is a character whose flaw is exaggerated, for as a man of great heroism, his vices must be equally great. Throughout the play, readers sympathize with the character recognizing their own weakness as the character himself realizes his flaw and tries to right all of the wrong that has been done. This is true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even those of royal blood themselves show King Lear the same respect anyone else would give him. The Duke of Burgundy, one of Cordelia s suitor s addresses King Lear properly: Pardon me, royal sir; / Election makes not up in such conditions (Shakespeare 1.1. 204 205). Burgundy addresses King Lear as royal sir, showing that he is of high noble status. King Lear bearing the title of King shows that he is a male of noble birth and therefore fulfills the first trait of being a tragic hero. Throughout the play, King Lear continuously proves that he is indeed, a tragic hero. As a King, his nobility is unquestionable, but his tragic flaw of pride brings death to himself and others. Unfortunately, once he realizes his mistakes and tries to fix them, it is too late, and both the guilty and innocent pay the price of his pride. However, King Lear s value is not lost; readers of today can learn from the mistakes of Lear and perhaps prevent the recurrence of such conflicts in their own lives. Tragic heroes like Lear teach readers valuable life lessons that they can learn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of The Book The Ghost (Enter the Villan) Here she comes, dressed all in blue, from head to toe. She walks purposefully, her long formal robe swishing against the floor as she stalks towards me. She looks elegant and cold, but the menacing grin upon her face betrays her zeal. I catch a glimpse of the lightning in her forest green eyes as she lurches forwards. I reel backwards, terrified of her ability to skewer my whole world. My thoughts whirl around as I tumble ceaselessly. That face is unmistakable, the foul witch of Hal edon. It s just a dream. Woken up from my restful slumber, I relive that nightmare. She s the ghost, the apparition, the questionable spirit that haunts me both when I m asleep and awake. I stumble out of bed, grabbing a nearby torch, and wiping the sleep from my face. My castle is silent and damp tonight. Nearly too quiet for my own comfort. I still feel unsettled, as the thought of an attack runs rampant in my head. I try to calm myself by pacing around my bed, but the rug is ever so slightly damp from the humidity, and it makes the soles of my feet feel sticky. Listening for any noises, I try to be reassuring. There is no one in the house. There aren t any noises in the house that would suggest people present. I am safe. Suddenly the sound of small footsteps are audible from what I discern to be the cellar. Gathering my courage, I carefully exit my room, and round the corner, my hand sliding across the cool, rough stone wall. Tip toeing down the old ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Example Of A Hero Of Brunhild Sigurd is an example of a hero who follows a strong moral and ethical code. The most prominent example of this occurs after he has rescued Brunhild from her castle for the second time while he is disguised as his friend Gunnar. At this point in the story, Sigurd no longer remembers his love for Brunhild because of a potion he was given. Therefore, he agrees to take the form of his friend so Gunnar can marry Brunhild. Sigurd clearly cares very much about doing the right thing and keeping the promise he made to Gunnar. In fact, Sigurd makes sure to place his sword between him and Brunhild when they sleep together. It can be argued that Sigurd was willingly being deceptive towards Brunhild, but this situation does show Sigurd s inner desire to be honorable by helping others and fulfilling his promises. Additionally, when Sigurd is able recall the fact that he loves Brunhild, it is his honor and recognition of the fact that she is someone else s wife that prevents him from acting on his feelings. Bakaridjan Kone is another example of a hero who takes pride in his moral and ethical code. He is even willing to die so that he may act in accordance with it. In the myth, Bakaridjan Kone makes the imprudent decision to boast that I am so strong that if I were to stamp one foot, so much earth would give way that the entire kingdom of Segu would be swallowed up! But the people would have nothing to fear, for I could pull out all of Segu with one finger! But if I were to fall into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Death In Mary Oliver s Sleeping In The Forest Mary Oliver s poem, Sleeping in the Forest, presents a peaceful and vivid representation of death and its relationship with nature. As the poem begins, the reader is introduced to the earth welcoming the speaker back into the realm of nature. Man was created from the dust of the earth and when we die, our bodies return to the dust. However, this poem presents a more beautiful image of what death is composed of. Death is often portrayed as being frightening and disturbing. When individuals are presented with the thought of death, they often push this thought away out of fear and ignorance. Everyone will die someday whether we ignore the thought of death or not. However, Oliver creates a relaxing and welcoming image for the reader on what death (ideally) is. Obviously, since Oliver is still alive, she doesn t know what death feels like. However, the way she describes death, I hope that it feels like sleeping in a forest; full of stars and enchantment. The enchantment in this poem begins by the earth welcoming the speaker back home. This speaker expresses that, She took me back so tenderly. This statement exemplifies to the reader that death is not a scary process. In this case, the earth is being portrayed as a woman. This is significant because women are often portrayed as being nurturing and caring. For the reader, this can trigger memories or ideas of who the reader would picture the earth as. Whether that be a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, etc. the reader can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Political Establishment in Germany Succeeded in... The political establishment in Germany succeeded in maintaining the political status quo through a policy of moderate reform. How far do you agree with this statement? The political establishment during the Second Reich in Germany were successful in maintaining the political status quo between the years 1871 and 1918. It can be argued however, that they were successful in doing so through more than just a policy of moderate reform. During these years, Germany abided by a rigid constitution which allowed power to ultimately be firmly held in the hands of the Kaiser. A great sense of nationalism and patriotism also existed in Germany and the vast majority of the German population heavily valued the Kaiser. Furthermore, the constitution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1902, during Von Bulow s chancellorship, the Tariff Law was introduced which put higher duties on imported grain and thus raised food prices. Despite the Kaiser heavily approving of the Tariff Law, it served to turn worker support away from the Kaiser s system and to the SPD. This can be seen in the sharp rise of votes in the 1903 general election. This may suggest that moderate reform was never the mechanism to keep power in the hands of the old elites or maintain the status quo. However, the threat of Socialism was undoubtedly overestimated by the political establishment who were under the misconception that the Socialist movement was wholly revolutionary. It may therefore be argued that since the threat of the socialists was smaller than perceived, it was in fact the existing structures of the Kaiserreich that maintained the political status quo. It could be argued that under Bulow s chancellorship, the fact that he carried such an interest and passion in foreign policy, allowed stability to remain as policies such as Weltpolitik and Sammlungspolitik helped to reduce conflicting interests on the domestic front. However, Bulow was confronted with the difficulty of financing Weltpolitik as the government had been in deficit since 1900. In a span of ten days, sailors, fishermen, or anybody with a boat, saved 350,000 British, French, and Belgium soldiers from Dunkirk. The evacuation was very successful. For every eight men on the Dunkirk port, seven of them were rescued. The unfortunate ones became prisoners of war to Germany. • 11. Drug Subdiction And Drug Addiction Drug addiction is a crippling problem in the United States, and has the possibility of affecting every single person. May it be from someone in the upper class, to a single mother who is living in poverty, this form of substance abuse is becoming more and more abundant in recent times. Unfortunately, many people who have never dealt with or looked into substance abuse often blame the individual for what happened. The sociological imagination, on the other hand, says otherwise. According to C Wright Mills sociological imagination, private troubles, such as substance abuse, often have a root in public issues of social structure. Sadly, the societal roots of many issues are not seen by others, causing the individual and their choices to be seen as the cause of their problem. In turn, this view may support a punitive perspective against the person in question. In the case of Brittney May, her drug addiction had started at a relatively young age, and as a result of it, she had ended up in prison. Although she has been released after her first long sentence, she ended up being convicted again, and is currently in prison. Additionally, her prison sentence ended up making her lose custody of her child. Fortunately, her old mother agreed to take care of that child. Growing up in a low income bracket neighborhood, Brittney was already placed in a society which had a number of adverse effects on her. The Panama Canal was one of the most useful canals ever built and they were made to for one reason and that was to transport goods. This was somethings everyone needed to solve at that time(1900s). The great Moai statues of Easter Island are also great structures and are really tremendous to the eye. These buildings and canals were made to one purpose they had to do somethings and that something was to make things easier for the people. Some similarities they had were that they both took a long time and sacrifice to build. A difference they had was that they were built for different purposes and they had their own different struggles. Predominantly, The Panama Canal was one of the greatest structures built by mankind. The Moai as well were something to be fascinated by because they were beautiful creations made by us. The one thing they both have in common was that they both took a long time to build. I think the Verazzano Narrows bridge speaks volume when it comes to that, which connects from Staten Island to Long Island and is visible from a spot in all 5 boroughs. My personal favorite starts with the Historic Richmond Town which was founded as the Staten Island Historical Society in 1856. The museum s focus creates opportunities for the public to explore the diversity of the American experience from the colonial period to the present. Richmond town is 100 acres consisting of 28 historic buildings dating from the late 17th to early 20th centuries, half still standing at their original locations which makes the experience visiting overall more realistic and interesting. Messenger RNA (mRNA) is synthesized from a gene segment of DNA which ultimately contains the information on the primary sequence of amino acids in a protein to be synthesized. The genetic codes is translated is for mRNA, not DNA. The messenger RNA carries the code from the nucleus to the ribosome in the cytoplasm where protein synthesis occurs. It also carries the genetic information copied from the DNA in the form of a series of three base code words , also known as triplets, each of which specifies a particular amino acid. Each nucleotide triplet, called a codon, can be read from the mRNA and translated into an amino acid to be incorporated into a protein being synthesized. Messenger RNA is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tRNA molecules is made up of a single strand of RNA consisting of about 80 nucleotides. By twisting and folding upon itself, tRNA forms several double stranded regions in which short stretched of RNA pair with other stretches. There is a single stranded loop at one end of the RNA and it contains a special triplet of nitrogen bases called an anticodon. The anticodon triple on tRNA is complementary to a triplet codon on the mRNA. At the other end of the tRNA molecule is a site where an amino acid can attach. This specific structure of the tRNA gives tRNA its ability to match a particular nucleic acid word (codon) with its corresponding protein word (amino acid). There are about 45 different type soft RNAs, each with a certain shape and a specific anticodon. The third type of RNA is the ribosomal RNA (rRNA). In the cytoplasm, rRNA and several proteins combine to form a nucleoprotein called a ribosome. The ribosome serves as the site and carries the enzymes necessary for protein synthesis. Extremophiles have opened the eyes of science to the possibilities of life in extreme conditions, helping us to understand how they adapt to such seemingly inhospitable environments. They have also helped us to make several important advances in the fields of medicine and biotechnology. Before the discovery of extremophiles in Yellowstone, it was widely believed that life simply could not survive at extremely high temperatures, as extremely high temperatures quickly denature proteins in cells. Compensation culture is a culture where individuals try to get compensation for any loss, damage, or suffering caused by another individual. This commonly stretches to include incidents that have weak or insubstantial links between the claimant and defendant (Horsey and Rackley 2009). Lord Falconer the former Lord Chancellor defines compensation culture as ...a catch all expression... it s the idea that for every accident someone is at fault. For every injury, someone to blame. And, perhaps most damaging, for every accident, there is someone to pay (Lord Falconer, 2005). This essay will briefly explain negligence and its elements and will further critically analyse the UK compensation culture and discuss whether it exist, or whether it is a perception created by the media. This essay will further discuss whether the UK laws encourage people to blame and claim and what the UK law has done to prevent an increase in the compensation culture. The tort of negligence was established with the leading case of Donoghue v Stevenson (1932) . Donoghue got sick from having a drink in a café after finding a snail in the bottle. Gupta s recommendation to use level annual production. Gupta believes that level production has two main advantages. First, under level production, Guna does not need seasonal hiring and layoff, thereby maintaining a more stable workforce. Secondly, level production can reduce the manufacturing risk, to decrease the profitability of equipment breakdown in peak season, due to a large amount of production request. The cost of equipment breakdown will be huge since Guna s production will be out of stock in the peak season. Based on Gupta s estimation, using level production will reduce the company s direct labor and other direct manufacturing cost from 34% to 29% of its purchases. Some immature members will not appreciate their ideas being criticized, and their behavior might serve as a deterrent for the team to move on to the next stage of thier development. • 44. The Photographer Into Afghanistan With Doctors Without... In The Photographer Into War Torn Afghanistan with Doctors Without Borders, one of the themes evident within the book is the difference between the stereotypes of Afghan people and who they actually are. The photographer, Didier Lefevre, is fueled by, a profound respect and love for the people of Afghanistan, and a belief in the importance of their work ( Lefevre x). The importance in that work was to show humanity in the faces the media portrays as terrorists. The media also portrays Afghanis for being uneducated, sheltered, and driven by religion. Throughout the book there are examples of Afghans that deserve empathy, but one page stood out from the rest: page 176. It displays Bassir Khan s businessmen and bodyguard sitting unamused in the first panel, with the follow up panels of them leaving Didier in the room. The first panel in specific represents both the humanitarian and sheltered themes of the book. What is most interesting about the first panel, is the image itself confirms racial ambiguities. The men shown are of darker complexions, which is perceived as being inferior to whites. On top of that, it confirms that non whites are violent, as one of the men are holding a gun. They are all men, wearing turbans and hats and worn down jackets. Peering at the first panel makes readers think Lefevre failed his mission to humanize Afghanis, but a closer look at the narrator s block tells another story. • 45. Fundamental Principles Of The Metaphysics Of Morals By Kant In, Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant states his belief that philosophy is divided into three parts. The three parts of philosophy include, physics, ethics, and logic. Kant states that all rational knowledge is either material or formal. Formal/natural philosophy is known as logic, while material/moral philosophy has to do with reasons. Moral principles, are centered on theories of reason, rather than character and value. If your actions are taken for morals alone, rather than any other reason, they are considered morals. Also, an action is judged on the reason it was taken, rather than the result of that action. Furthermore, if you respect and act in accordance with moral law, then your actions are moral. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Broken Spears Summary The book, Broken Spears was an interesting reading that talked about the Spanish conquest of Tenochtitlan. Throughout the book, it becomes clear that the Spanish were successful in their conquest as a result of a number of factors. The Spanish were intimidating in appearance and in their weaponry. They had animals that the Aztecs had never seen before. They also formed alliances with rival tribes, like the Tlaxcaltecas tribe. Finally, one of the key reasons that the Spaniards were able to successfully conquer the Aztecs was due to the fact that Motecuhzoma himself, believed that Cortes and his men were gods. In regards appearance, the Spanish were essentially covered from head to toe in iron armor. Even the weapons they carried were covered in iron. The Aztecs were unaccustomed to the iron clad individuals. In regards to weaponry, the Spanish were, even more, intimidating in the fact that they had cannons. The Aztecs describe the cannon to Motecuhzoma, a thing like a ball of stone comes out of its entrails: it comes shooting sparks and raining fire...smoke that comes out of it has a pestilent odor. The odor penetrates even the brain and causes great discomfort ( 30). For me personally, the only reason I can think of for Cortes to fire off a cannon was to show dominance over the Indians. For people who had never even heard of a cannon before, it is understandable that the Native Americans were fearful of Cortes and his men. Along with the iron clad armor and weapons the ... Regarding Crosby, his credentials can be found on the page titled About the Author at the end of his book: Alfred W. Crosby, Jr., is Professor Emeritus of American Studies, History, and Geography at the University of Texas, Austin. His field of expertise qualifies him to write on the subject, the Columbian exchange. He presents facts with items such as quotes, statistics, and past occurrences. It is clear that Crosby has done a significant amount of research because he acknowledges the grant that Washington State University provided and his bibliography is sixteen pages long. The techniques authors adopt are important because they contribute to the writing style. Throughout most of the book, I am able to comprehend the language easily. Although I did encounter medical and scientific terms that I had to confirm the meaning of. It seems as though Crosby tends to get carried away with the usage of statistics when he gets the chance. Constantly supplying numbers doesn t give the reader enough time to digest the information. Not only that, but I found myself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
