Pitbull Informative Speech
I have owned six Jack Russell terriers in the past twelve years and currently have four. I received
my first as a toddler, and as an adult, I am now preparing to have my first litter of pups sometime
this fall. This witty breed never fails to amuse or surprise. One of my dogs, named Susan, once
brought me a live rabbit, sat it in my lap, and then proceeded to bring it back every time it ran
away until I tied her. My purpose on this occasion is to educate you on these remarkable creatures.
Originating in England in the 1800s, these small energetic hunting dogs have not only been owned
by countless celebrities but have also become celebrities themselves. First, I am going to tell you
of their history, followed by a description of their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studying at the University of Oxford beginning in 1814, he had the opportunity to fox hunt four or
five days a week if he had enough money to do so. More than anything he desired to create the
perfect hunting dog. In his last year at Oxford, John Russell would get his first terrier, which
would be the founder of the Jack Russell breed. She was called Trump. Russell purchased her
from a milkman whom he encountered on the road. After he graduated from Oxford, Russell
became a vicar, and while he moved very often as positions became open, it was in Iddesleigh,
after he married, that his terrier breeding began. It is unknown which dogs were bred to Trump;
however there were many different lines, a variety of prestigious males being used, and
noticeable differences were produced. The reverend bred his terriers for work rather than show,
even though he invested in top show winners to breed to his dogs, such as Old Jock. Until
Thomas Pearce entered his dog, Venture, into a competition in 1866, no dog bred by Russell had
ever seen the show ring. Although the Reverend s terrier would later go to gain massive fame as
they were presented in the Crystal palace. In 1873, Russell helped found the Kennel Club, which

Taking a Look at Graphic Novels
Graphic novels are seen to be successful to those who don t like reading pages of words upon
words, but instead acting more like a comic book with semi detailed pictures that help the reader
envision the author s intended view. Although, they do have their limitations on being condensed
and lacking details that could allow the reader to fully understand characters in the environment of
the novel. With graphic novels, history is a great use to portray many important events such as
the Boxer Rebellion in China and provide a novel that can inform an audience of the history and
reasoning behind the event. As a whole graphic novels are best in that they can get a point across
to the reader much more efficiently than a wordy novel, but not with it s limitations of being
condensed in nature and lacking the extra details needed to understand the characters in the story.
Therefore, graphic novels reach a wide set of audiences, remains strong in providing voice and
portraying it s setting, but is weak with characterization and providing sufficient detail to the
understanding of a historic event. To obtain a wider range of an audience, graphic novels will just
do that. Graphic novels have many positives to the reader that it helps the reader view the novel in
the author s light of thinking. Graphic novels illustrate the scene in comic strip form that only
narrative is needed to bring the images to life. In Boxers and Saints, the story of Bao and Vibiana
is illustrated so beautifully

Tube 1 And 2 Lab Report
Tube 1 and 2 contain functioning enzyme extract and substrate solution, ribose 5 phosphate.
Furthermore, the conditions in tube 1 and 2 allow the reaction to proceed to form ribulose 5
phosphate and the mount of product formed can be measured. With tube 1 and 2 being identical,
averaging the absorbance allowed minimizing the error due to differences in enzyme
concentration and contaminants within experimental procedure. Tube 3 is used to boil the
enzyme extract to investigate the relationship of temperature on the rate of pentose 5 phosphate
isomerase activity. Tube 4 and 5 act as controls for the absorbance and the effect of substrate and
enzyme on the absorbance reading are investigate respectively. Tube 6 acts as a comparison for
the known amount of product whereby the absorbance of other tubes can be compared to tube 6
in order to calculate amount of ribulose 5 phosphate present. Lastly, tube 7 acts a black for all the
other tubes (1 6) because it only contains tris buffer. The effect of... Show more content on

Secondly, the sum of tube 4 (no enzyme) and tube 5 (no ribose 5 phosphate) were used to
adjusted the absorbance of tube 1 and 2 after using tube 7. As tube 4 only takes ribose 5
phospahte and tube 5 only contains the enzyme extract, by taking the difference of the sum of
these two values from the absorbance of one the full tubes (tube 1 or 2) it allows to account for
the absorbance caused by ribose 5 phosphate and the enzyme extract. And the adjusted absorbance
will indicate only the absorbance of the red complex formed by reaction between resorcinol
hydrochloric acid and ribulose 5 phosphate. Lastly tube 3 (boiled enzyme) is not used as denatured
enzyme has a different absorbance compared to active enzymes, thus tube 3 cannot be used to
adjust the absorbance values (Kabacoff and Laken,

New Australia And New Zealand
New Zealand is more than just a beautiful country, it is an investment opportunity waiting to
happen. The land is filled with natural beauty and can be seen even in the big cities. New Zealand
preserves the countryside because they know how important it is to be close to nature. The
government is very forward thinking. New Zealands economy is growing and business opportunities
are everywhere. The growing free market has increased development in many sectors of business
within New Zealand. History
About 1000 years ago, Polynesian s were the first to inhabit New Zealand. They became the Maori
people. Then in 1642 the European explorer, Abel Janszoon Tasman, sailed to the island.
Unfortunately his arrival brought about violence and Abel Janszoon Tasman left to return home
shortly after the violence erupted. In 1769 two European captains land in New Zealand thus
bringing with them muskets that start a war between waring Maori tribes. In 1840 some of the tribe
leaders and the British Crown signed the Treaty of Waitangi, which brought the country under
British control and gave the Maori equal rights as the British citizens.
In 1893 women were given the right to vote, in 1898 they started pensions, and in 1907 they
founded a child welfare program. Since 1941 the country has had socialized medicine. New

The Entanglement Of Opposing Forces In William...
The Entanglement of Opposing Forces When there is light, there is shadow. This is true with
William Shakespeares Macbeth as the main character of the same name is slowly transformed into
a malevolent person that can only be stopped by the light of another character, Macduff. Macbeth
and Macduff rely on each other as opposing forces in the play but cannot coexist because of the
parallels between them. The surge of power to Macbeththrough evil turmoil gives purpose and
presence to Macduff s character. Macduff and Macbeth s characters are foils of each other
representing two parallels of initially similar characters. Only one of the characters can survive
because of the hatred created by the contrast between the two. Therefore, one will always
persevere over the other. As Macbeth rises in power, Macduff s role in the play becomes more
prominent. Macbeths first major villainous deed was killing Duncan. In the next scene after the
murder, Macduff is introduced to the audience. In the following quote Macduff has a conversation
with Macbeth and his only concern is going to see the king:
MACDUFF. Is the king stirring, worthy thane?
MACBETH. Not yet.
MACDEFF. He did command me to call timely on him:
I have almost slipp d the hour.
MACBETH. I ll bring you to him.
MACDUFF. I know this is a joyful trouble to you;
But yet tis one.

The Molly Maguires Essay
The Molly Maguires
People of many different nationalities settled in Pennsylvania to work in the coal mines. Conflicts
developed not only among people of different cultural backgrounds but also between laborers and
owners of the mines. The struggle between labor and management is illustrated in the story of the
Molly Maguires, an Irish group which settled in eastern Pennsylvania. The Molly Maguires were
perhaps the most gruesome chapter in the history of Pennsylvania. The violent and dramatic case of
these people is a true life murder and detective story. To understand the conflict the Molly Maguires

The miners were forced to live in company owned shacks and had to trade in company stores at
excessive prices. Almost every miner was in debt to the company for rent and food which came
out of his wages. The English and the Welsh held the best jobs in the mines and discriminated
against the Irish. In order to fight back, the Irish formed a secret organization known as the
Molly Maguires. The name of the society was taken from a group of anti landlord agitators in
the 1840s led by a widow named Molly Maguire. The Molly Maguires organized about 1860
within a respectable society, known as the Ancient Order of Hiberians, it was most likely a revival
of what was known as Ribbonism of Ireland. This had been formed to defend the interests of
peasants against the oppression of the absentee landlords. Its methods were those of terrorism. The
Molly Maguires, also known as the Buckshots, White Boys, and Sleepers , centered in Schuylkill
County, Pennsylvania, more particularly in Cass Township. Although they began as a crude labor
organization whose tactics were aimed at bettering the then unbearable working conditions, the
Mollies soon attracted undesirable elements from the rough mining towns, and became a criminal
organization. The members of this organization sought to dominate the politics of the county, and
resorted to violence to take care of unfair

Cultural Differences Of The Bronx
I reacted as politely as I could to the cultural differences in the Bronx. The culture shock often made
me irritable and honestly annoyed, but I never lashed out or maliciously acted on my sentiments.
With the constant Spanish, music playing, and different attitudes, I needed to find a way to zone
out my surroundings. And I turned to music, country music in particular. I had always loved
country music, but I really came to love it while in the Bronx. It was a way for me to regress into the
culturein which I came mainly a white culture that often has an affinity for the outdoors and
wilderness. The urban jungle of NYC rarely offers a great area to fish or hunt. Yet I also did try
to embrace the changing culture. I would dance to the Latin music that many of my students
played; I would eat locally and try different cultures foods; and I read up on the history of the
Bronx and how it evolved into a city with a working class that is socioeconomically challenged,
and how many people especially those of color have received the brunt end of public policy
decisions that have no other explanation than environmental racismand unjust drug policies. For
example, we worked with students whom, at any given time, could have their homes evicted, suffer
an asthma attack from the unconscionable pollution caused by the Bruckner Bridge that connects
upstate New York to Manhattan, or lose a father or mother or sibling to one of the everyday evils
that swirl around a neighborhood like Hunts

The Past Is Our Definition
An American novelist Wendell Berry once said that the past is our definition. But does the past
truly hold enough strength to impact one s life? Is it merely a faded thought? Or does it provide
an insight into one s being? Quite often the past is simply referred to as a certain amount of
elapsed time. However, it is more than just a quantifying term. The pastis the memoir of one s
existence. It is the recollection of memories. The past is the keeper of our dreams, our struggles
and our fears. It is the moments that collectively create both one s presentand personality. The past
is a series of chords which when played in the right combinations produce a melodious euphony.
On the other hand, it may be an avalanche bearing the symbol of one s destruction. In times of
sorrow, a glimpse into the past can provide relief by reminding one of moments of joy, by
allowing him to relive them in his mind and by reducing the magnitude of his grief through this
mirage. The past teaches a person to learn from his failures. Through the provision of a clear
picture of one s faults, the past compels a person to alter his course of action or change his
behavior as timeprogresses in order to abstain from committing the same mistakes again. Thus, the
past can shape one into an entirely different person. Bear Came Over The Mountain by Alice
Munro is the tale of a couple s distress as the wife, Fiona is diagnosed with Alzheimer s disease.

Arts Education
Introduction
When you think about the purpose of education, there are three. We re preparing kids for jobs. We
re preparing them to be citizens. And we re teaching them to be human beings who can enjoy the
deeper forms of beauty. The third is as important as the other two, says Tom Horne, the state
superintendent of public instruction in Arizona.
Arts Education in the school system has been declining since the 1980 s. Budget cuts and
standards put in core classes like reading and math make it almost impossible to find a good arts
education in public schools. The money that was used to fund the arts programs is now being
denied and being put towards the classes that are being required to take standardized tests.
What most people don t know is that the arts help in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It estimated that since 2008, more than 80 percent of schools nationwide experienced cuts to
their budgets. Metla goes on to say, As a remedy in some instances, art programs were partially
or completely eliminated from affected school districts. People feel that arts classes are less
important than core classes. When it comes to picking which one stays and which one goes in a
situation like this, they feel that they are making the obvious choice by getting rid of the arts
education courses. Other reason that Metla talks about in her article, are the heavier standards put
in the core classes, In addition to less money being spent on education because of the recession,
various government policies, including the No Child Left Behind Act and the Common Core State
Standards have placed greater emphasis on core subjects, such as math and reading. In doing so,
they have sidelined arts education. Reasons the Neville

NFP will face an increase in the level of risk as well as the overall cost of capital. Now supposing
Plastic Products Division received a disproportionately high level of funding because their
returns exceed the company hurdle rates. Unfortunately, the division s beta is 1.28, larger than
the corporate beta reported by ValueLine (1.04) and Merrill Lynch (1.12). As NFP invests more
in riskier division and the division s beta remains unchanged, NFP s new beta and the overall
cost of capital would gradually increase a lot more than the current one, which later poses a
threat to the company itself. 2. Question: Explain the rationale behind using beta as a measure of
risk. Compute the company s beta based on the divisional betas and compare it with that
provided by Value Line and Merrill Lynch. Explain some of the inconsistencies that can be found
in reported betas. Do historical betas provide good measures of the future riskiness of firms (or
divisions)? ______________________________ Beta is an effective measure of risk. Unlike
standard deviation, beta is a measure of a stock s systematic, or market risk, which cannot be
diversified away. To investors, it is considered to be the most important measure. Now we are

How Far Was The East End Reliable Essay
How reliable and useful are these sources in explaining how difficult life was for the inhabitants of
the East End?
The city of London was a city of surprising sights. The streets were horribly overcrowded slums
where people lived in the worst conditions imaginable. The population rose during the 19th century,
from about 1 million in 1800 to over 6 million a century later. This growth far exceeded London s
ability to look after the basic needs of its citizens. The sanitation was gruesome and was full of
human and animal waste causing lots of infectious diseases such as typhoid and cholera which
spread quickly due to the cramp conditions.
Source 3 tells us that the East End of London was poor and over crowded. Many of the over
populated buildings housed up to thirty families. Some of whom lived directly above cess pits.

History Of Sam Phillips
Sam Phillips founded Memphis Recording Services in the early 1950s to record any and every
artist interested in performing at his studio, he had no particular limits on who the artists were
expected to be or what they were supposed to be singing as long as they made him money. The
early years would be spent primarily recording bluesartists such as B. B. King, Rufus Thomas,
Rosco Gordon, Joe Hill Louis, and Howlin Wolf. Sam Phillips vision was to bring artists as well
as genres together and work alongside them with the objective to create an entirely new style of
music. The studio s name was later changed to Sun Studios, a name that would end up leaving a
legacy that introduced the world to some of the founding fathers and mothers of rock and roll. Of

was careless and burned relationships with supremely talented artists. He grew up in the Bronx

proved to be important tools in his producing studio. He reportedly had the extraordinary ability
to organize music with artists to perfection in addition to a recording technique that some referred
to as the Wall of Sound. Basically, the wall of sound was a unique style resembling a raucous roar
which was created by many instruments being played as loudly as possible, mixed with an echoing

In the countryside, less than half a million out of a total rural population of eight hundred
million were receiving pensions in 1981. Individuals and families who live in rural areas rely on
their off spring to be part of their working staff. If such families are only allowed to have one
child, they much prefer to have males because they believe they are of more use for jobs that
require physical labor. (Hong, 1987) If a Chinese family who is not secure financially does
indeed have a daughter than she will most likely not marry, Hong explains. For economic
reasons, families with daughters are unlikely to let them go to grooms villages to live because
they will be needed not only for the parents old age security but also to boost the life long earning
potential of the household. (Hong 1987 pg. 320)

necessary for people to take a break and spend time with their families. To relate the topic of
nostalgia with food to my life, I recall a cherished memory I have about making enchiladas with
my grandma when I was nine. My mom s father is hispanic, but her mother is not, so she learned

Drug Resistance And Its Effect On The Clinical Benefit Of...
Drug resistance has become an obstacle in maximizing the clinical benefit of ART and
consequently, routine HIV genotyping is recommended prior to ART initiation during viral
rebounds and on the failure of an ART regimen. Successful PCR amplification of PR and RT
genes is essential regardless of which method is used for sequencing. Results from this study
show that not only it is possible to detect but also to characterize virus that continues to be
produced in low levels in such patients. The samples with LLV were amplified to determine
whether LLV present in patients on effective ART regimen resulted from the development of
drug resistance. Out of the 31 samples that were amplified using the optimized protocol, seven
had no product by the time library preparation was set up. The likelihood of the loss of PCR
products during clean up exists. There is a high possibility of mishandling the sample during
shipping and receiving of the samples. Instead of screw cap tubes, the samples were shipped on a
96 well plate with a film on top, which is not ideal as per protocol. Additionally, the ice packs had
melted by the time the lab received samples for sequencing. Since DNAdoes not evaporate easily,
lack of proper shipping and storage techniques could have led to samples spilling or possible
degradation.
Many samples had failed quality control step for library preparation via Nextera kit prior to Miseq
Sequencing. Samples mainly had low concentration or less quantity of DNA

The Marrow of Tradition Essay
As the United States developed and grew, upward mobility was central to the American dream. It
was the unstated promise that no matter where you started, you had the chance to grow and
proceed beyond your initial starting point. In the years following the Civil War, the promise
began to fade. People of all races strived to gain the representation, acknowledgement and place in
this society. To their great devastation, this hope quickly dwindled. Social rules were set out by
the white folk, and nobody could rise above their social standing unless they were seen fit to be
part of the white race. The social group to be impacted the most by this social rule was the African
Americans. Black folk and those who were sympathetic to the idea of... Show more content on

This is supported by the idea that race was determined by one s environment, that was in turn
determined by the color of one s mother. (Williams, 2006) Olivia is of a white race, with both
father and mother being white. She is happy and content with a privileged white life. Janet, on
the other hand, is the daughter of a black maid and a white man. When Janet s father died, his
will was taken and hidden secretly by Polly Ochiltree, Olivia s aunt. This meant that Mrs. Polly
kicked the maid Julia and her daughter Janet out of the house. As a result, Janet is pronounced
black and left nameless, with no money or hope looking towards the future. Despite Olivia s
opportunity to have whatever she desires, she is still jealous of Janet in some ways. For
example, seeing Janet with her son, made Olivia fall into a fit of hysterics. As Miss Jane put it,
So ter day,w en Mis Livy wuz out ridin an met dis yer Janet wid her boy, an w en Mis Livy got

play this game of who is worth more on a personal level. Pre Civil War, there were many free
black men and women. Most of these women became mistresses to the white Creole men of New
Orleans in a system called plaçage. The men would choose their mistresses at the Quadroon Balls.

Clear Hair Care Advertisement Analysis
This full page Clear Hair Care advertisement was found in Google Images; this image appeals to
consumers by the huge D_CK which is thought to spell out dick. The technique was to attract the
attention of those with a dirty mindset. The advertistment s purpose was to have the consumers use
the product to clean their dirty minds. The advertisement s primary colors consists of black and
gray which drags the consumer s eyes toward the yellow duck. The targeted audiences for this
advertisement are teenagers, young adults between 20 30 years old, and hairstylists.

Another target audience that this advertisement attract are hairstylists. Hairstylists are always on
the move to find new products to try out on their clients. They often go through different products

Risks And Risk Management Plan
Risk Management Plan
Introduction
An important part any project is to identify risks and to determine how to address said risks. In
this paper, I will identify 10 risks that could occur during the making of Coleman Covenant
Studios. I will also assess and address each risk in detail. Although I am hopeful the completion of
this project will happen with minimal negative risks, I do realize hope is not a plan. For this
reason, this risk management plan is in place to acknowledge and prepare for a variety of unplanned
events.
Planning Risk Management The purpose of this section is to determine how I will perform the risk
management process, who will be assigned to the risk management process, the budget, definitions
of risk and impact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, the stakeholders are willing to accept a considerable amount of risk as long as a plan is in
place to address it.
Qualitative Risk Analysis In addition to determining the impact of each risk and the likelihood
of that risk occurring, I also prioritized the risks by ranking them. By ranking each risk, I am
ensuring all team members understand the important of each risk in relation to other risks. As
mentioned earlier in paper, the ranks are in parentheses above. Once the risks were ranked, I
determined the probability of each risk and the impact it would have on the project if it did occur.
These numbers are factored into the risk matrix below: Table 1. Risk Matrix
The high risk in red is venue selection. The moderate risks in yellow are under budget, promotion,
venue location, legal issues, natural force delay, and bank doesn t approve loan. The low risks in
green are grand opening troubles, ahead of schedule, and design change.
Quantitative Risk Analysis In this section, I will further analyze the high risk activity: venue
selection. This activity is identified as high risk because the likelihood that it will occur is 50%
and if it occurs, its impact is at a level nine. Proper venue selection is integral to the successful
completion of the project. Ideally, a clear lot will be selected. However, there is a 50/50 chance the
lot selected will not be clear and destruction will take place.

Government Control Throughout Literary Works
Governmental control surrounds society daily and has been around for centuries. Governments
came around so that they could control others. It recurs throughout The Tragedy of Romeo and
Juliet by William Shakespeare, as well as in The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.
Even in modern day, government control remains a significant part of life. For example, the
SOPA bill arose in Congress when the need for anti piracy protection became urgent or the USA
admitting the Yemeni dictator into one of its medical centers. It occurs from the 1500s in The
Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet to the 1800s in The Count of Monte Cristo and even modern day.
Each government designs itself in a way so that it functions with a united purpose to keep the human

Napoleon puts himself into power after he successfully overthrows the king of France. The French
monarchy weakens day by day and thus, the Napoleon Empire quickly establishes itself in the
monarchy s place. Governmental control appears strongly when it just takes Villefort s signature to
throw an innocent person into jail. Dantes realizes this when he thinks: Villefort s change in
demeanour during the examination, the burning of the letter, the exacted oath, the magistrate s
almost supplicating voice which seemed to implore rather than to threaten, all passed through his
mind (Dumas 61). Once Dantes learns of Villefort s treachery, his personality completely turns
around. An innocent man should not be sent to jail because someone else chooses to cover his or
her tracks and fix his or her own problems. Governmental control has become corrupted and no
longer functional. The 1800s style governments opened themselves to conflict; however,
corruption prevailed. Modern day differs greatly compared to previous centuries but the need for
control has continued to live on. Modern day has vastly improved its government over the
previous centuries. However, society still faces issues due to governmental control. A bill called
SOPA tried to limit creativity on the Internet, but classed as an anti piracy bill. The USA formerly
debated on whether to admit a Yemeni dictator, one who has killed thousands of the Yemeni people,
into one of its medical centers.

Compare The Rate Of Reaction Between Magnesium Oxide And...
Throughout the experiment, countless calculations were made to calculate the enthalpy of
formation for magnesium oxide. This was accomplished, first by finding the temperature change
through use of a temperature probe within a chemical reaction with magnesium and hydrochloric
acid, along with a chemical reaction containing magnesiumoxideand hydrochloric acid. For the
reaction that consisted of magnesium and hydrochloric acid, the temperature change was much
more rapid compared to the reaction between magnesium oxide and hydrochloric acid. The reaction
was gray in color, steamed, bubbled, and had a strange smell (likely consisting of the released
hydrogen gas). In comparison, the reaction between magnesium oxide and hydrochloric acid was
lackluster, producing no bubbles and staying relatively clear in color. Although most magnesium
and magnesium oxide went from the weigh boat into the reaction, not all did, potentially affecting
our final results.
Furthermore, during the reaction, some errors that potentially could have occurred, would be loss
of heat from the reaction. Although the reaction was insulated inside of a styrofoam cup, heat could
be lost through the top of the cup because no lid was used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This step could also lead to errors, as every time a number is rounded before the final answer is
reached, the answer gets altered slightly. Of the four reactions above, three of the four reactions
were negative, meaning that the reactions were exothermic. As data was being calculated, a
mistake was nearly made in which reaction was exothermic versus endothermic. When calculating,
a crucial mistake was made at first which stated that Mg2+(aq) + H2O(l) в†’ MgO(s) + 2 H+(aq)
was exothermic, rather than endothermic. This mistake would lead to a calculation of around 865
kJ/mol, resulting in a potential percent error of around 44%. After the calculation was corrected, the

Food Safety Modernization Act ( Fsma ) Into Law
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention documented that about one out of six Americans
get sick (approximately 48 million people), 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die each year
from foodborne diseases (CDC.gov). According to the FDA this is a significant public health
concern which can be preventable (FDA.gov). This was the main reason why on January 4th, 2011,
President Obama signed the FDA Food SafetyModernization Act (FSMA) into law. Some specific
examples and major events that might have led to signing the FSMA into a law are major outbreaks
that have happened in the past few years. Some examples are the Escherichia coli O157:H7
outbreak which was linked to spinach, contamination of wheat gluten with melamine, and the
outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium in Peanut Corporation of America s peanut butter (Acheson,
2015). The FSMA amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD C) with respect to
safety of the food supply. The FD C Act consists of the regulation of food, drugs, devices, and
biological products by the FDA. These changes were made in order to highlight that the FDA has
to adapt the way it operates according to what is happening in the food industry. Our food now
travels more to get to us and the pathogens that we encountered before are now changing, adapting
and sometimes becoming stronger and harder to defeat. In addition, people live longer and develop
chronic diseases, making them susceptible to getting a foodborne illness. FSMA provides

The Importance Of Nursing Homes Are The Best Places For...
With the growth of the aged population, finding the suitable accommodation for the elderly
becomes a popular topic of interests. From that, an increasing number of the elderly are sent to
nursing homes, the facilities that specialized in aged care and are regarded as the ideal places
for old people. However, some question whether nursing homes are truly the best places for the
elderly. This essay will argue that there are still some issues that need to be addressed in nursing
homes, which may probably even make the elderly s lives worse. In this case, nursing homes are
not the best places for the aged people. Firstly, the facilities and staffs of nursing homes are
possibly not as adequate as one would like to imagine. One reason that nursing homes are
described as the suitable places for the olds is that they provide specialized facilities, doctors,
nurses and care recipients to protect the health for the elderly. Australian Aged Care Quality
Agency has set some standards for nursing homes and the Standard 2 Health and personal care
shows that nursing homes must put efforts on Staff development, Clinical care, Specialized
nursing care needs and Medication management. However, the facilities are actually rarely
checked to ensure that they meet the standards of basic health and safety (Brodwin, 2014) as well
as the percentages of nursing homes that lack adequate staffs to properly care for patients and
have been in violation of elderly abuse laws are 91% and 36% respectively

How Do Ocean Currents Affect The Climate System
The Way of the Ocean

Ocean currents are a very big part of the world s oceans. Ocean currents move water, circulating
around the globe pushing warm and cold water all around. These ocean currents are driven by the
rise and fall of tides, wind, the sun, energy, surface currents, and subsurface currents. But how does
the temperature of the ocean currents affect the ocean? All of these make up ocean currents and
help it affect the climate system. Ocean currents also affect the climate system by circulating
around the world and using what it is driven by. Without ocean currents there would not be enough

century it has been seen that sea levels have risen by a lot because of global warming and that
has contributed to the temperature increases of the ocean. The ocean has started to get warmer
and warmer. Studies have shown that global warming might be changing the direction of the
Atlantic Ocean currents and that can disturb sea life and land. As warmer water is coming onto
cold water places in the ocean, the warm water is pushing the cold water way. Tides and waves
are made by surface currents and subsurface currents and help the ocean currents move. (Currents)
The temperature of the ocean currents is a big part because it helps make the circulation pattern as
the currents move around. (Pidwirny) What makes the ocean currents spin in a circular formation
and move to different parts of the ocean is called a gyre. Gyres are what

Recent Changes in the Nursing Profession Essay
There have been many changes (major and minor) in the nursing profession and the medical field,
as a whole, over the years. Some of these changes include changing demographics and increasing
diversity, technological explosion, the cost of health care, and significant advances in nursing
science and research. Major socioeconomic changes created this drive to make transformations in
nursing and institutions. These institutions are the ones that are responsible for educating the next
generation of nurses, such as West Coast University.
Over the years, there have been major shifts within the United States in regards to its population.
Statisticians have estimated that 20% of the population will be 65 years of age and older. There is

technological changes, there have been improvements in both the outcomes and patient care
management areas. Information is now just a webpage away and readily available for clinicians
and their patients.
For all of mankind, the cost of health care is a major daily stressor. This article stated an interesting
fact that, A concern of businesses and governments for at least 30 years, the cost of health care in
the United States has approached 15 percent of the total gross national product (Barbara R. Heller,
Marla T. Oros, and Jane Durney Crowley, 2013, para. 19). Even with that fact, there are over 40
million individuals living in the United States that do not have health care coverage. The total
health care spending in America surpasses that of any other developed country. This is due to
technological advances that are readily available and breakthroughs in medicine. Still, there are
present concerns in nursing practices, such as: the affects on the nursing profession, treatment
options for their patients, and the patients participation in their own care. This article stated,
Nursing professionals, who have historically taken the lead in health education and health

Jesse Vs Agnus
Growing old is inevitable, it is something that everyone goes through, well unless you are the
Tuck s. The Tuck s some how lucked up and gained every lasting life, is it luck or is it a curse?
That depends on which Tuck you ask. There is no pain from growing old and no dying. Agnus,
Mae, Miles, and Jesse all have accepted their eternal life differently but, the two that differ the
most are Agnus and Jesse. Agnus has a difficult time dealing with the fact that he will never die,
whereas Jesse has embraced his longevity of life. You can t have living without dying. So you
can t call it living, what we got. We just are, we just be, like rocks beside the road. (Babbit, p. 64).
Growth is a major part of life and the Tuck s don t get to experience that anymore so Agnus feel s
stuck. He wants to experience getting old and dying because it is the cycle of life. He has
watched people he knew die and how much things have changed around him and he is envious of
the ones that get to have that. According to Zastrow, most elder adults reflect on their livesand
conclude what was meaningful about it and with that try to accept that their years left are limited
(p 647). It seems that Agnus has already participated in this idea of life review many times but,...

Jesse is a free spirit, he lives in the moment, just as many people in early adulthood. He also does
not stay in one place too long, constantly moving from job to job and not just because he does not
want anyone to know of the secret. Jesse s constant moving around is a great example of Peck s
theory of emotional flexibility (Zastrow, 2013, p. 470). Jesse s ability to easily shift emotional
investments from one activity to another, makes it easier for him to accept his eternal life. Another
example of Jesse s emotional flexibility is when he tells Winnie that they could get married and
travel the world (Babbit, p.

Jonathon Harker, a legal practitioner is headed on a business trip to visit a noble in Transylvania,

In today s media and entertainment business between books, movies and television series the
idea of a vampire has been sexualized by their nature and superior looks. The idea of being bitten
by a vampire is pleasurable in today s time and Bram Stocker created this feeling in what seems
to be Harker s dream. Stoker mixed the horror of the Count when he rips the women off of
Jonathon and gives them a child as a snack instead and the sexual experience with the three female
vampires in Harker s fantasy dream.
8.One of the three female vampires said this to the Count after Dracula s harsh order to leave
Jonathon alone, claiming Harker as property. The quote You yourself never loved, you never
love! is significant because thus far in the book Dracula appears to be alone, Harker is his only
contact, the women is stating the truth that Dracula has never loved and doesn t love. He isn t
capable of loving in the state that he is in and it makes the reader think about his loneliness and

Budweiser Commercial Analysis
If you were to watch the Budweiser commercial called, Puppy Love, from start to finish you
would have no idea that this commercial is to advertise beer. At the end of the commercial the
screen does say Budweiser. Consequently you would allegedly assume the commercial was
about adopting a puppy if it were not to say Budweiser; unless you analyzed further into the
commercial. This advertisement is directed towards people that are age twenty one or older in
the US, they must have a taste for beer, and maybe more specifically Budweiser. Anyone that
watches this would recognize that in the United States, we have a law that you cannot drink
alcohol under the age of twenty one. Nevertheless, this commercial may be aired across the
world we also need to place in mind that a few countries have different laws regarding the
drinking age. It is directed towards people who adore beer for the obvious reasons of having an
interest in the taste of beer to drink it as well as the brand Budweiser. People that do not drink
may not care for this commercial at all, meaning the majority of the people that do care to drink
beer would appreciate this commercial. The commercial does not target topics such as... Show more

This could be creating a connection between adopting puppies and grabbing a beer. The reason I
mentioned that is for the sake of the owner of the adoption center and the owner of the farm come
to an agreement to allow the puppy to be with the horses, therefore feeling relieved they grab a
beer. With that statement, the puppy, horse, and beer are emphasized. Mainly the puppy and the
horses due to the fact that the horses and puppy are in the entire commercial, and even though the
beer does not come into the scene until the end it is the fulfilled purpose of the

  • 2. Pitbull Informative Speech I have owned six Jack Russell terriers in the past twelve years and currently have four. I received my first as a toddler, and as an adult, I am now preparing to have my first litter of pups sometime this fall. This witty breed never fails to amuse or surprise. One of my dogs, named Susan, once brought me a live rabbit, sat it in my lap, and then proceeded to bring it back every time it ran away until I tied her. My purpose on this occasion is to educate you on these remarkable creatures. Originating in England in the 1800s, these small energetic hunting dogs have not only been owned by countless celebrities but have also become celebrities themselves. First, I am going to tell you of their history, followed by a description of their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Studying at the University of Oxford beginning in 1814, he had the opportunity to fox hunt four or five days a week if he had enough money to do so. More than anything he desired to create the perfect hunting dog. In his last year at Oxford, John Russell would get his first terrier, which would be the founder of the Jack Russell breed. She was called Trump. Russell purchased her from a milkman whom he encountered on the road. After he graduated from Oxford, Russell became a vicar, and while he moved very often as positions became open, it was in Iddesleigh, after he married, that his terrier breeding began. It is unknown which dogs were bred to Trump; however there were many different lines, a variety of prestigious males being used, and noticeable differences were produced. The reverend bred his terriers for work rather than show, even though he invested in top show winners to breed to his dogs, such as Old Jock. Until Thomas Pearce entered his dog, Venture, into a competition in 1866, no dog bred by Russell had ever seen the show ring. • 3. Taking a Look at Graphic Novels Graphic novels are seen to be successful to those who don t like reading pages of words upon words, but instead acting more like a comic book with semi detailed pictures that help the reader envision the author s intended view. Although, they do have their limitations on being condensed and lacking details that could allow the reader to fully understand characters in the environment of the novel. With graphic novels, history is a great use to portray many important events such as the Boxer Rebellion in China and provide a novel that can inform an audience of the history and reasoning behind the event. As a whole graphic novels are best in that they can get a point across to the reader much more efficiently than a wordy novel, but not with it s limitations of being condensed in nature and lacking the extra details needed to understand the characters in the story. Therefore, graphic novels reach a wide set of audiences, remains strong in providing voice and portraying it s setting, but is weak with characterization and providing sufficient detail to the understanding of a historic event. To obtain a wider range of an audience, graphic novels will just do that. Graphic novels have many positives to the reader that it helps the reader view the novel in the author s light of thinking. Graphic novels illustrate the scene in comic strip form that only narrative is needed to bring the images to life. In Boxers and Saints, the story of Bao and Vibiana is illustrated so beautifully ... • 6. The Entanglement Of Opposing Forces In William... The Entanglement of Opposing Forces When there is light, there is shadow. This is true with William Shakespeares Macbeth as the main character of the same name is slowly transformed into a malevolent person that can only be stopped by the light of another character, Macduff. Macbeth and Macduff rely on each other as opposing forces in the play but cannot coexist because of the parallels between them. The surge of power to Macbeththrough evil turmoil gives purpose and presence to Macduff s character. Macduff and Macbeth s characters are foils of each other representing two parallels of initially similar characters. Only one of the characters can survive because of the hatred created by the contrast between the two. Therefore, one will always persevere over the other. As Macbeth rises in power, Macduff s role in the play becomes more prominent. Macbeths first major villainous deed was killing Duncan. In the next scene after the murder, Macduff is introduced to the audience. In the following quote Macduff has a conversation with Macbeth and his only concern is going to see the king: MACDUFF. Almost every miner was in debt to the company for rent and food which came out of his wages. The English and the Welsh held the best jobs in the mines and discriminated against the Irish. In order to fight back, the Irish formed a secret organization known as the Molly Maguires. The name of the society was taken from a group of anti landlord agitators in the 1840s led by a widow named Molly Maguire. The Molly Maguires organized about 1860 within a respectable society, known as the Ancient Order of Hiberians, it was most likely a revival of what was known as Ribbonism of Ireland. This had been formed to defend the interests of peasants against the oppression of the absentee landlords. Its methods were those of terrorism. The Molly Maguires, also known as the Buckshots, White Boys, and Sleepers , centered in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, more particularly in Cass Township. Although they began as a crude labor organization whose tactics were aimed at bettering the then unbearable working conditions, the Mollies soon attracted undesirable elements from the rough mining towns, and became a criminal organization. The culture shock often made me irritable and honestly annoyed, but I never lashed out or maliciously acted on my sentiments. With the constant Spanish, music playing, and different attitudes, I needed to find a way to zone out my surroundings. And I turned to music, country music in particular. I had always loved country music, but I really came to love it while in the Bronx. It was a way for me to regress into the culturein which I came mainly a white culture that often has an affinity for the outdoors and wilderness. The urban jungle of NYC rarely offers a great area to fish or hunt. Yet I also did try to embrace the changing culture. I would dance to the Latin music that many of my students played; I would eat locally and try different cultures foods; and I read up on the history of the Bronx and how it evolved into a city with a working class that is socioeconomically challenged, and how many people especially those of color have received the brunt end of public policy decisions that have no other explanation than environmental racismand unjust drug policies. For example, we worked with students whom, at any given time, could have their homes evicted, suffer an asthma attack from the unconscionable pollution caused by the Bruckner Bridge that connects upstate New York to Manhattan, or lose a father or mother or sibling to one of the everyday evils that swirl around a neighborhood like Hunts ... • 10. The Past Is Our Definition An American novelist Wendell Berry once said that the past is our definition. But does the past truly hold enough strength to impact one s life? Is it merely a faded thought? Or does it provide an insight into one s being? Quite often the past is simply referred to as a certain amount of elapsed time. However, it is more than just a quantifying term. The pastis the memoir of one s existence. It is the recollection of memories. The past is the keeper of our dreams, our struggles and our fears. It is the moments that collectively create both one s presentand personality. The past is a series of chords which when played in the right combinations produce a melodious euphony. On the other hand, it may be an avalanche bearing the symbol of one s destruction. In times of sorrow, a glimpse into the past can provide relief by reminding one of moments of joy, by allowing him to relive them in his mind and by reducing the magnitude of his grief through this mirage. The past teaches a person to learn from his failures. Through the provision of a clear picture of one s faults, the past compels a person to alter his course of action or change his behavior as timeprogresses in order to abstain from committing the same mistakes again. Thus, the past can shape one into an entirely different person. Bear Came Over The Mountain by Alice Munro is the tale of a couple s distress as the wife, Fiona is diagnosed with Alzheimer s disease. And we re teaching them to be human beings who can enjoy the deeper forms of beauty. The third is as important as the other two, says Tom Horne, the state superintendent of public instruction in Arizona. Arts Education in the school system has been declining since the 1980 s. Budget cuts and standards put in core classes like reading and math make it almost impossible to find a good arts education in public schools. When it comes to picking which one stays and which one goes in a situation like this, they feel that they are making the obvious choice by getting rid of the arts education courses. Other reason that Metla talks about in her article, are the heavier standards put in the core classes, In addition to less money being spent on education because of the recession, various government policies, including the No Child Left Behind Act and the Common Core State Standards have placed greater emphasis on core subjects, such as math and reading. For example, think about what would happen if the Plastic Products Division received a disproportionately high level of funding because their returns exceed the company hurdle rates (its growth rate substantially exceeds the corporate average). As NFP invests more in riskier division and the division s beta remains unchanged, NFP s new beta and the overall cost of capital would gradually increase a lot more than the current one, which later poses a threat to the company itself. 2. Question: Explain the rationale behind using beta as a measure of risk. Compute the company s beta based on the divisional betas and compare it with that provided by Value Line and Merrill Lynch. Drug resistance has become an obstacle in maximizing the clinical benefit of ART and consequently, routine HIV genotyping is recommended prior to ART initiation during viral rebounds and on the failure of an ART regimen. Successful PCR amplification of PR and RT genes is essential regardless of which method is used for sequencing. Results from this study show that not only it is possible to detect but also to characterize virus that continues to be produced in low levels in such patients. The samples with LLV were amplified to determine whether LLV present in patients on effective ART regimen resulted from the development of drug resistance. Out of the 31 samples that were amplified using the optimized protocol, seven had no product by the time library preparation was set up. The likelihood of the loss of PCR products during clean up exists. There is a high possibility of mishandling the sample during shipping and receiving of the samples. Instead of screw cap tubes, the samples were shipped on a 96 well plate with a film on top, which is not ideal as per protocol. Additionally, the ice packs had melted by the time the lab received samples for sequencing. • 29. Compare The Rate Of Reaction Between Magnesium Oxide And... Throughout the experiment, countless calculations were made to calculate the enthalpy of formation for magnesium oxide. This was accomplished, first by finding the temperature change through use of a temperature probe within a chemical reaction with magnesium and hydrochloric acid, along with a chemical reaction containing magnesiumoxideand hydrochloric acid. For the reaction that consisted of magnesium and hydrochloric acid, the temperature change was much more rapid compared to the reaction between magnesium oxide and hydrochloric acid. The reaction was gray in color, steamed, bubbled, and had a strange smell (likely consisting of the released hydrogen gas). In comparison, the reaction between magnesium oxide and hydrochloric acid was lackluster, producing no bubbles and staying relatively clear in color. Although most magnesium and magnesium oxide went from the weigh boat into the reaction, not all did, potentially affecting our final results. Food Safety Modernization Act ( Fsma ) Into Law The Center for Disease Control and Prevention documented that about one out of six Americans get sick (approximately 48 million people), 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die each year from foodborne diseases (CDC.gov). According to the FDA this is a significant public health concern which can be preventable (FDA.gov). This was the main reason why on January 4th, 2011, President Obama signed the FDA Food SafetyModernization Act (FSMA) into law. Some specific examples and major events that might have led to signing the FSMA into a law are major outbreaks that have happened in the past few years. Some examples are the Escherichia coli O157:H7 outbreak which was linked to spinach, contamination of wheat gluten with melamine, and the outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium in Peanut Corporation of America s peanut butter (Acheson, 2015). The FSMA amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD C) with respect to safety of the food supply. The FD C Act consists of the regulation of food, drugs, devices, and biological products by the FDA. These changes were made in order to highlight that the FDA has to adapt the way it operates according to what is happening in the food industry. Our food now travels more to get to us and the pathogens that we encountered before are now changing, adapting and sometimes becoming stronger and harder to defeat. In addition, people live longer and develop chronic diseases, making them susceptible to getting a foodborne illness. FSMA provides ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From that, an increasing number of the elderly are sent to nursing homes, the facilities that specialized in aged care and are regarded as the ideal places for old people. However, some question whether nursing homes are truly the best places for the elderly. This essay will argue that there are still some issues that need to be addressed in nursing homes, which may probably even make the elderly s lives worse. In this case, nursing homes are not the best places for the aged people. Firstly, the facilities and staffs of nursing homes are possibly not as adequate as one would like to imagine. One reason that nursing homes are described as the suitable places for the olds is that they provide specialized facilities, doctors, nurses and care recipients to protect the health for the elderly. Australian Aged Care Quality Agency has set some standards for nursing homes and the Standard 2 Health and personal care shows that nursing homes must put efforts on Staff development, Clinical care, Specialized nursing care needs and Medication management. However, the facilities are actually rarely checked to ensure that they meet the standards of basic health and safety (Brodwin, 2014) as well as the percentages of nursing homes that lack adequate staffs to properly care for patients and have been in violation of elderly abuse laws are 91% and 36% respectively ...
