basis, but also those rarer and larger

It is important that all
companies develop a plan
for when out of the ordinary
circumstances take place.

Lock-downs: it is important to account for attacks on the office building and prevent any
further damage from being done.
At your discretion turn-off lights (this may draw attention depending on the building a time of day.
Lock the door then barricade it with heavy furniture.
Stay away from doors and windows.
Hide under or behind the furniture.
Wait for the authorities.

prepared for. Some companies will be targets for violence depending on their field.

These attacks always seem to be random, and without warning, but in retrospect there
always indicators leading up to an incident people should be wary of certain signs.
Shooters will often display fits of depression, mood swings, and outburst of rage.
The usual appearance will have diminished and have domestic problems, and abuse of
substances.
Increased conversation about weapons and empathy for those who commit
violence.
Most often these acts manifest themselves as either

Lockdown procedure -- If you become cornered by the
attacker with no possible way to escape
Start throwing things at them in rapid succession to distract them for a possible chance of escape.
it is important that all the employees involved receive the adequate after care.
counseling should be provided and company staff should be observant of signs
of PTSD—post traumatic stress disorder.
Also handling the media situation in the after math of the shooting.
If you do see anything like this it
is essential that you DO NOT
touch or move the item contact
upper management then if
necessary they will contact the
authorities.
If someone calls in a threat, it is
important that you do not hang
up. Try and keep them on line.

This is a much more common occurrence in offices a majority of people have been bullies at some point in
their life.
Common reasons people are bullied
Independence/ not being obedient or compliant.
More capable employee/ more skilled.
Being more preferred by fellow coworkers/customers.
Rule abiding/ ethical.
Not following the politics of the office.

Office Etiquette
Clutter is a trip hazard as well as fire hazard. Keep a clutter free work environment.
Always use step ladders; there are many unnecessary falls because people use chairs in place of ladders.
Drawers left open can pose hazard. People can easily run into these. CLOSE the
drawers.
Dress for your environment; most importantly is shoes. Heels, work boots, and non-slip
sneakers all have their place.
Corners can be dangerous if you are not careful; Collisions can easily pop up. Mirrors can easily fix this
issue.
Put things away. Not only is organization vital to preventing accidents, but it also prevents security
breeches.
