INTRODUCTION
What is band saw machine?
A bandsaw (also written band saw) is
a power saw with a long, sharp blade
consisting of a continuous band of
toothed metal stretched between two
or more wheels to cut material. They
are used principally in woodworking,
metalworking, and lumbering, but
may cut a variety of materials.
PART AND
LABELLING OF
THE MACHINE:
How does the band saw machine work?
When the saw is set up for a cut, the
operator raises the saw, positions the
material to be cut underneath the blade,
and then turns on the saw. The blade
slowly descends into the material,
cutting it as the band blade moves. When
the cut is complete, a switch is tripped,
and the saw automatically turns off.

Band Saw
Machine:
Use
After stopping the machine, use a brush or rag to remove all
excess chips from the drill press table and stock.
Turn
If the saw blade binds on a piece of stock, turn the saw off
and wait until it comes to a complete stop before attempting
to remove the blade from the stock.
Use
Use a push stick or board to push small or irregular sized
stock. Small work pieces can also be secured with a tabletop
vise or clamp.
Plan Plan saw cuts to avoid backing out of curves in the stock.
Do not force
Do not force stock into the saw blade. Let the speed of the
blade cut stock appropriately.
Allow Allow the saw to reach full set speed prior to cutting stock.
Check
Check to ensure the band saw is correct for the type of stock
and correct speed being used.
Check Check to ensure the band saw blade is sharpened.
Adjust
Adjust the upper guard assembly to within 1/4 inch of the
stock prior to starting the machine. Set the band saw at the
appropriate speed for the type of stock being machined.
Ensure
Ensure the guard doors are closed and the blade is properly
adjusted prior to turning on the machine.
Must follow the
S.O.P when used
this machine.
Adjust the blade
guard with your
comfortable to
prevent from the
excess chip.
Used additional stick to push the
material while cutting.
Clean the blade and machine after used the
machine. Remember, switch off the supply
power first.
WHAT CAN BE HAPPEN
IF WE IGNORE THE
S.O.P AND PPE OR NOT
ALERT WHILE USING
THE MACHINE?
The chips can make an
injuries if we do not
wear the safety
goggles
FINGER INJURIES OR
DAMAGE IFWE DO
NOT USED GLOVE
OR PUSH STICK
Importance of wearing
hearing protection is
to avoid our hearing
from damage
IN, CONCLUSION ITS IMPORTANCE TO US TO USED AND FOLLOW ALL
THE PPE AND SOP WHILE USING THE BAND SAW MACHINE.
REMEMBER THAT!!!
