The RCMP Marine Procurement Outlook Session outlines the RCMP's marine fleet, budget, and projected procurements and repairs. The RCMP operates 409 vessels across Canada with an annual operating budget of $1.6 million and capital budget of $3.5 million. Over the next three fiscal years, the RCMP plans to purchase 48 new vessels including patrol boats and RHIBs for $10.3 million total. An additional $1.9 million will be spent on vessel repairs, refits, and replacing outboard motors. Special projects include transporting one patrol vessel and beginning a patrol vessel replacement project.

Introduction to Floating Storage & Regasification Unit (FSRU)petroEDGE
Over the next 2 or 3 decades it is predicted that gas usage will grow at a much faster rate than oil and become the dominant energy source. Up to some 40% of gas comes from Offshore Fields. The transport of gas in the form of LNG is growing very fast – particularly for longer distance export routes. New offshore opportunities for gas production are being developed with the new technologies of Floating LNG (FLNG).
Inshore or Offshore FSRU’s provide safe, strategic and good location for the receiving terminals for LNG and provide the conversion of the methane from the liquid phase back to the gaseous phase to direct consumer usage.
This 2 day training course covers Gas and LNG activities – their Supply Chain from Onshore and Offshore Gas Fields to Market, with FSRU’s providing the last step by converting the LNG back to usable methane gas for local supply and use. Case Studies and videos will be used to illustrate lessons learned from past successful projects. A DVD of the powerpoint presentation and numerous Industry videos will be distributed with the lecture materials.

Challenges and prospects of Bay Container Terminal, Chittagong.MOHIMENUL
Chittagong port is considered the heart of economy of Bangladesh. The important role of Chittagong Port for Bangladesh underlines the necessity of investigating how best it should be developed toward meeting the future challenges. Toward enhancing the existing handling capacity, the Chittagong Port Authority plans for one of the largest and ambitious projects –the Bay Terminal – which will be the future Port of Chittagong.
Each offshore platform reaches the end of its lifetime at some point, and this necessitates decommissioning. This activity must be done safely, cost effectively and with as little environmental pollution as possible. While the life spans of these installations cover decades, they have not generally been designed with efficient decommissioning in mind. Moreover, the places where the facilities have been constructed are pivotal in defining the safest and most sustainable decommissioning method.
This 3 day training course will address the key issues surrounding an offshore decommissioning project. You will be exposed to key lessons learnt from Frigg, NW Hutton and Ekofisk, as well as lesson specifically derived from projects in based in Asia. The course will also assist in understanding the planning and decision analysis in decommissioning projects and costs involved.
This presentation was given as part of the CCS Ready workshop which was held in association with the 6th Asia Clean Energy Forum (20 – 24 June, Manila)
The workshop discussed the range of measures and best practices that can be implemented to prompt the design, permitting and construction of CCS projects when designing or building a new fossil fuelled energy or industrial plant.
Alice Gibson’s presentation provided a summary of CCS Ready and the proposed definition as well as an explanation of the necessary regulatory and economic drivers required to implement CCS ready.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.
