The Royal Belum Rainforest Resort in Malaysia is located near Banding Lake and was designed in 2008 by C' arch architects. The resort incorporates elements of traditional Malay vernacular architecture like clustered arrangements of lightweight structures divided into kitchen, living, and bedroom areas, using local materials. The site experiences mild temperatures and rainfall, with stronger winds near the lakeshore that decrease further inland. Half the land is reserved for natural areas, and relocating mock villages is allowed but not destroying them.
