The Media And Popular Culture
Media and Popular Culture Popular culture is different from traditional culture; it is based on the
timeline of the significant characteristics of a culture. Popular culture is the ideas, attitudes, thinking,
memes, images, and other phenomena that are in the mainstream of a given culture, especially the
western culture in the early 20th century to the middle 20th century and the emerging global
mainstream in the early 20th and the 21st century. Deeply influenced by the mass media, this
collection of ideas permeates daily life of the society (Wikipedia 2014). Mass media is conceived and
designed to reach a very large media audience. It may need to be in the form of broadcast media, in
television and radio, or print media, such as newspapers and magazines. Internet media can also obtain
the status of the mass media; actually, with so many ways out there provided by internet media, mass
media has been more accessible than ever before. Some people also call it the mainstream media ,
refer to the fact that it tends to give prominent coverage to the news that are cater for the interest of the
public, while ignores the controversial news. Most people around the world are dependent on
mainstream sources for most of their news, so globally, it has already been a huge industry. But there
could be some problems with mass means too, as it could devour the diversity and have negative
effect on popular culture.

Ephedrine Synthesis
Hemant et al. [20] reported that combination of preloading ephedrine is an effective prophylaxis
against spinal hypotension and provides hemodynamic stability when compared to the use of
ephedrine or preloading alone.
Although , ephedrine was considered as the drug of choice as a vasopressor in obstetrics it not take the
superiority. [21 23] It was reported that the administration of ephedrine increases the blood pressure of
the mother by its beta adrenergic action , so preserving uterine and placental blood flow, while other
vasopressors which have a pure alpha agonist were associated with a decrease in this blood flow.[7]
However, previous studies observed that ephedrine has a similar efficacy as other vasopressor and
causes fetal acidosis.[24] As regard to ephedrine group, this study observed hypotension in 37.9% of

Therefore, in our study, we used a bolus followed by continuous infusion to maintain good control of
SBP with ephedrine probably to attempt increasing maternal blood pressure before onset of spinal
block induced hypotension. The recommended dose for IV ephedrine infusion is between 0.5 mg/min
to 5mg/min.[26] We selected a lower infusion dose (1.5 mg/min), after a small dose bolus (6 mg), as
our target was to keep blood pressure at baseline. We found that with this regime ephedrine had a
limited effect in maintaining blood pressure without evidence of fetal acidosis as there was a
significant decrease in SBP after induction up to 14min in E group when compared all values with the
baseline value but still higher than L and C groups. This result differ from the result of other authors
[6,25,29] who used 2.5 ml/min of ephedrine as an infusion after 5mg bolus dose. They reported that
with this dose, ephedrine was effective in maintaining blood pressure without evidence of fetal

State Trooper V. Vincent s Case
A Senior Louisiana State trooper Steven Vincent, 43, was dead after receiving two gunshots in his
head by a gunman, at the side of the road in Bell City, Louisiana, on Monday. Vincent was supposed
to help a possibly impaired driver who was also responsible for his death.
Reuters reported that Kevin Diagle, 54, was charged of first degree murder and aggregated battery of a
police.
In a press conference, State Police Colonel Michael Edmonson detailed the scene that was recorded on
a dashboard camera of the police car. It was frightening to watch, he said while pointing out that
Vincent followed their protocols. He did everything right.
According to Reuters report, the trooper was responding to a call regarding a reckless driver on
Sunday when he confronted Diagle. The police ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

shotgun blast. I saw my trooper go backwards, Edmonson recounted. Moreover, the video recording
showed Diagle bowed over Vincent and was heard saying to the trooper: You re lucky. You re going to
die soon.
In addition, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso said that Diagle could also be involved to a death
of a person before his encounter with the trooper. The authorities are yet to release reports in his
alleged involvement.
Moreover in the press conference, Edmonson thanked the motorists who stopped to rescue Vincent
with their heroic act in getting the gun out from Diagle. They stopped to help my trooper and I will
never forget that, Edmonson said. I was pretty proud of them, he added.
Edmonson also said on his statement, As an organization, we are heartbroken over this senseless and
tragic death. Our thoughts and prayers are with his surviving wife Katherine and his son Ethan as well
as his entire extended family.
Meanwhile in USA Today news, Governor Bobby Jindal ordered flags to be lowered to half staff to

The Value Of Waste Control
Mass customization of products has become a common approach in manufacturing organizations.
Explain the ways in which mass customization can be applied to service firms as well. In many ways
mass customization has always been a factor that service firms have necessarily embraced. The
intangible business of dealing with people directly and providing services is by nature customized to
individuals involved in the transaction(s). What mass customization of products in manufacturing
contexts can provide to service organizations by way of example; are the models of lean
manufacturing, kaizen and organizational structure. Lean manufacturing teaches the value of waste
control, kaizen frames continuous improvement and the common factor between these approaches is
highly trained employees (Daft, 2016). Highly trained employees who are empowered and versed in
both technical aspects and soft skill aspects of customer interaction; best support a service
organization. A service organization employee has to be able to address customized requests at each
interaction, which is why service firms are labor and knowledge intensive (Daft, 2016, p. 273) when
compared to the product focus of a manufacturing firm. Although there is that clear difference in focus
(or expenditure) between a manufacturing organization and a service organization, an organic
structure is most applicable for both. Highly trained and empowered employees function best in an
organic, decentralized environment

Analysis Of Love Actually By Richard Curtis
The movie Love Actually (2003) by Richard Curtis demonstrates how the connections between people
are limitless and that love is a concept that has the ability to lift people up and tear people down. The
movie follows the lives of nine different relationships and the audience is able to see every aspect of
love, romantic, platonic, familial and more. In an article by Ben Dreyfuss, he points out that most
critics of the film point like to say that Love Actually is a saccharine soulless picture that relies on an
emotionally manipulative soundtrack and has nothing to say but somehow takes 136 minutes to say it
(Dreyfuss). However, that is not the case. This movie has had a lot of controversy since the release in
2003. In this paper I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This film does a great job of showing that not all loves are happy and pleasant all the time. In an
article written by Seija Rankin, she points out that people do refer to their desired relationships in the
context of popular films . (Rankin) This is a reason why this film is so important, especially in today s
culture of romanticizing everything. People need to see real world examples of what love looks like.
They need to be aware that love does not always go right, and everything is not always flowers and
daisies. While the Prime minister and Natalie s story worked out, not everyone in the films did.
Love Actually is just that, portraying love as in actually is. Not just the pleasant happily ever side but
also what happens after happily ever after. For example, the story of Juliet, Peter, and Mark. Joliet and
Peter get married at the beginning of the film and Mark is the best man. Juliet has always had the
impression that Mark did not like her as he never really made any attempts to get closer to her or get
to know her in any way. Through a series of event Juliet finds out that Mark has actually been in love
with her the entire time. Once she finds this out at the end of the film Mark shows up and tells her yes,
he is in love with her, but he knows that they can not be together. This highlights the unhappy sides to
love. When one s love cannot be returned by the one they desire. It shows the audience that just

Mentos Lab
Introduction: The diet coke and Mentos experiment has been a favorite of amateur scientists, but how
does it work? There have been debates, and scientists have concluded that the diet coke and Mentos is
a physical reaction, called nucleation. Nucleation sites are areas that have high surface with low
volume. Such places can be your fingerprint, scratches on glass, specks of dust, or even Mentos candy
(Eepy Bird). Mentos candies have a pitted surface that s rough when looked at through a microscope,
therefore creating a wonderful place for nucleation to occur. Water molecules like to be next to other
water molecules, so if you drop something into the soda, like Mentos, it acts as a site for growth of
bubbles. Mentos have a high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which soda made the largest Mentos fountain? How can you tell? Diet coke made the largest Mentos
fountain because it had the least amount of soda left over after the reaction. 2. Which soda gave the
worst results? How can you tell? Mountain Dew made the smallest fountain with the worst results
because it had the most amount of soda left over after the reactoin. 3. What differences are there
between the diet and regular soda? How does this affect the size of the fountain? The difference
between diet and regular soda is that diet soda uses artificial sweeteners, like aspartame for example.
This affects the fountain because low surface tension helps bubbles grow quickly. The surface tension
in water containing aspartame is lower than sugary water, which explains why diet soda creates a
bigger fountain thatn regular soda (NewScientist). 4. What differences are there between caffeinated
and caffeine free soda?

Arterial Oxygen Saturation
It is known that as altitude increases, atmospheric pressure decreases, as does the partial pressure of
oxygen (Hall Table 44 1). That same table demonstrates that the partial pressures of both oxygen and
carbon dioxide in the alveoli decrease as well. However, the alveolar water vapor pressure remains
unchanged constant at 47mmHg no matter the altitude (Hall 561). The most deleterious result of these
factors is that less oxygen is being delivered to the tissues. Fortunately for me, Guyton and Hall says
that altitude has a relatively insignificant effect on arterial oxygen saturation at 9,000ft (Hall Figure 44
1). It is not until 10,000ft that arterial oxygen saturation begins to steeply decline. The physical affects
of acute hypoxia according to Hall are drowsiness, lassitude, mental and muscle fatigue, sometimes
headache, occasionally nausea, and sometimes euphoria. These effects progress to a stage of
twitchings or seizures above 18,000 feet and end, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to an article in Oxford Journals, one of the first steps in acclimitization is polycythemia.
This increase in red blood cells can be seen within the first two days of ascension. However, the
author is quick to point out that it is nonetheless a slow process and therefore not nearly as vital to
acclimitization as the other factors that come into play, the most crucial of which is the increase
pulmonary ventilation (West). Low oxygen is immediately sensed by chemoreceptors in the carotid
and aortic bodies, which then send signals to the respiratory centers of the brain, resulting in an
increase in respiration. In a matter of only days, acclimitization increases our: pulmonary ventilation,
concentration of red blood cells, lung diffusing capacity, vascularity of tissues, and ability of cells to

The Importance Of Communication And Parents Or Guardians...
1. A teacher can provide positive communication to parents or guardians by making a good impression
from the first contact. Communication itself can be done through email, notes, calls, or face to face.
The best way to begin a good communication channel is by starting early to contact the parents and
introduce yourself and your expectations/plans for communication. By stating these to both the parent
and the student, everyone will know the best way to contact you. This makes it easier for you to send
the information and for the parents to receive it in a timely manner.
2. In my observation classroom, the teacher likes to use guided questions to facilitate class discussion.
Currently, the 8th graders are reading To Kill a Mockingbird. Sometimes it is good to begin on the
comprehension level to make sure that the students understand the plot of the story before asking them
further questions about analysis. She will then ask them what conclusions they draw from the text and
what makes them think that. Finally, they are asked to evaluate what they are reading. Do you agree
with Atticus decision to defend Tom Robinson? What would you do in Scout s position if that was
your father? She helps them go beyond just the knowledge level in order to better understand the
importance of the story.
3. Though I have not observed a specific instance of engaging students in learning in my observation
classroom, the professor of one of my English classes this semester does a good job of not

Improving Capital Access Programs Within The Sba
On May 19, 2015, a hearing in the 114th congress was held. The Subcommittee on Economic Growth,
Tax and Capital Access (of the Committee on Small Business) entitled Improving Capital Access
Programs within the SBA , discussed ways to give more money to its veteran entrepreneurs. This
would be done by changing the loan process within the Small Business Administration. The House
report gives the following testimony from, a lender authorized to operate in the Loan Program that the
initiative would help SBA guaranteed lenders get needed capital to veterans, (p.4 HR). This is where
the idea was planted and then it was assigned by the speaker, Mr. John Boehner, to the House
Committee on Small Business.
Introduced May 21, 2015, Representative Steve Chabot, Chairman of the Small Business Committee,
recommended to increase access to capital for veteran entrepreneurs. This act was named the Veterans
Entrepreneurship Act of 2015. Along with Rep Chabot were six cosponsors in the House: Rep Mike
Bost (IL), Rep Carlos Curbelo (FL), Rep Christopher Gibson (NY), Rep Richard Hanna (NY), Rep
Steve Knight (CA), and Rep Tom Rice (SC). All six gentlemen are republicans and members of the
House Committee on Small Business. There are 24 members in the committee, ten of which are
democrats; six out of fourteen republicans sponsored this Act. There are currently no female
republicans on this committee. This means that most republicans on the Committee are in favor of

And so, the aim of accountability systems is to provide incentives to encourage student to achieve at
high levels and set clear goals for student performance.
Every Student Succeeds Act, was signed into law in 2015 and is replacing the No Child Left Behind
Act. ESSA is a system that gives states more flexibility as it relates to funding, assessment and
accountability. Moreover, there are many positive components to ESSA that will help a superintendent
be effective in their position. One positive concept of the ESSA accountability system is that it will
utilize the federal and state standards by merging them into one while the efficiency is analyzed. In
addition to this, ESSA ended the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) requirement that was designed
Under the No Child Left Behind Law while allowing states to eliminate unnecessary assessments.
According to (Feagan, 2009), AYP was defined during this time as a stronger accountability measure.
It was the only accountability system used to determine if schools were successful. This law made it
difficult for superintendents to effectively move schools because AYP looked at individual subgroups
in addition to individual groups. And so, if a superintendent was the leader of a district that had a high
poverty rate, the test results in many cases were lower (2009.) Thus, making it

Analysis Of Meghan Trainor s All About That Bass
The music industry nowadays is becoming more and more overloaded with songs orientated around,
how to charm a man, what it takes to get a man and of course how compete and outshine another
female for a man. However whilst being initially happy that Meghan Trainor s All About That Bass
became so very popular in receiving praise for encouraging women to celebrate and embrace their
curves; the chart topper become an almost girl power anthem on a positive body image, which in my
opinion is needed and long overdue in times like these. Trainor s effort stands out, taking the top spot
in 27 countries around the world, racking up an impressive 1.6 million views on YouTube. This was
however until I was past the catchy, bubble gum pink tune and addictive baseline and paid closer
attention to the lyrics of Trainor s clever marketing ploy, it s clear to see that All About That Bass is as
far from a feminist anthem as they come and unfortunately altered my interpretation that in fact that
Trainor was feeding young girls a negative perception of what is expected of them and their bodies, as
they are brought up alongside the pressures of today s media driven and highly influenced society. The
lyrics made me upset, annoyed, angry and a little embarrassed all at the same time. While I applaud
Trainor for her efforts in encouraging women to embrace their bodies, I remained to be blind in seeing
the need, or even understand why she mixed these messages with body shaming and

Abstract
Hamilton (Albert) Fish (1870 1936) was an American serial killer, child rapist, and cannibal. He was
known as the gray man, the werewolf of wisteria, the Brooklyn vampire, the moon maniac, and the
boogey man. Albert (born Hamilton) Fish came from a family seemingly stricken by mental illness,
with six close relative in mental hospitals. At the age nine his father died, and Fish was sent to an
orphanage. At that point Fish experienced bullying, and whippings from caretakers. It wasn t until
three years later that his mother took on a government job and was able to take him back. He began a
relationship with another boy, where he was introduced to urine drinking and feces eating. In 1890 he
moved to New York, where he became a prostitute and began raping young boys. At some point he
became interested in penises themselves and began sexual mutilations. In 1917 Fish s wife ... Show

s penis and killing him. Afraid of somebody smelling it, if he took the body with him, cut into pieces.
In 1917 Fish s wife left him for a young handyman, taking nearly everything they owned, except for
their six children. Soon after Fish began having auditory hallucinations. At this time Fish began asking
his children and their friends to use a board to spank him, along with self harming himself using

History and Analysis of Mormonism in America Essay
History and Analysis of Mormonism in America
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was officially organized by Joseph Smith in
Western New York on April 6, 1830, and by 1978, spread to more than seventy nations. One
uniqueness of the Mormon religion is that it was the first church to have begun in the United
States.
Following the revivals of the 1800 s, religion entered a temporary decline in Western New York,
reawakened in 1807 1808, then declined again because of the military excitement The Chnts of
1812.
After this time, a new wave of revivalism began, in liberal churches such as the Unitarians and to

He went into the woods to pray and in the words of Joseph Smith, I saw a pillar of light over my head,
above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me . . . when the light
rested upon me I saw two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above
me in the air. One of them spoke unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other, This is
My Beloved Son. Hear Him. To Joseph this meant that he was forgiven of his sins and was not to join
any of the organized churches.
For the Mormons the visit of an angel to Joseph Smith during the night of September 21, 1823,
signaled the documentary foundation of Mormonism. A statue representing the angel stands atop the
Salt Lake Temple. In one hand the figure holds a trumpet: in the other are clasped plates symbolic of
the Book of Mormon, the ancient religious record whose existence Smith claimed was revealed to him
in 1823.
Shortly after his first vision Joseph Smith was concerned with his lack of spirituality. He was praying
on Sept. 21 when he was rewarded with the appearance of an angelic being who said his name was
Moroni. It was Moroni who told Joseph Smith where the gold leaves or plates were located. Smith
tried to keep this secret, however, word got out. And today, this religion is practiced by millions in the
United States.

Effects of Internet Travel Booking Sites on Travel Agencies
General Introduction
Since the birth of the Internet, many people have been using its resources to accommodate their travel
needs. Traditionally, people use a travel agent to book their travel plans, but with the convenience of
the internet, some might think travel agencies would no longer be needed. The travelers are the front
line personnel in retail travel agencies providing services to travelers based on their knowledge and
experience (Vasudavan and Standing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, some authors say that travel agents provide better service than the internet,
especially when making complex travel arrangements, answering questions, handling problems and
maintaining a relationship with travel consumers.
Methodology
Participants
During spring 2012, 20 random participants were selected to take a paper form survey. These
participants were chosen from the general public. The survey consisted of 20 ranking questions and all
participants were given the same survey. The questions investigated the satisfaction of the customers
with internet travel services, travel agent services, and cost comparison between the two.
Instrument
The instrument consisted of 20 questions with three constructs related to the satisfaction of the
customers with internet travel services, travel agent services, and cost comparison between the two.
The construct of internet satisfaction related to how satisfied the customers were with their previous
booking experiences on the internet. The construct of travel agent satisfaction related to how satisfied
the customers were with their previous booking experiences with an agent. Cost comparison related to
how the customers previous experiences compared to each other in terms of cost. The participants
rated each question as 6 = strongly agree, 5 = agree, 4 = slightly agree (all some form of agreement), 3
= slightly disagree, 2 = disagree, and 1 = strongly

The Privatization Of Coal Industry
China has been the world s leading coal producer and consumer in recent years.(2,28) China
accounted for 47 percent of total global coal consumption and 20 percent of world energy related CO2
emissions in 2012. (1,3) China held an estimated 126 billion short tons of recoverable coal reserves in
2011, the third largest in the world behind the United States and Russia. Coal comprised 69% of China
s total energy consumption in 2011. (2,28) Characterized by increasing domestic production and
import, coal s dominance in China s energy consumption sector is likely to sustain in recent future.
Thus, the regulatory and price reform regarding coal played the most significant role in transforming

However, they have caused many regulatory challenges such as environmental degradation, tax
evasion, and mine accidents. Starting from 1997, the central government plans to close small TVE
mines. (11,6) The small coal mines in China suffered from insufficient investment, outdated
equipment, and poor safety practices, they are inefficient and are ineffective in responding to market
demand. The current goal of government is to close those small mines and consolidate them into large
coal companies. The consolidation can attract greater investment in new coal technologies and
improve the safety and environmental record of coal mines. The government s current 12th Five Year
Plan calls streamlining the industry by forming 10 large coal companies that will account for about
60% of the country s total coal production and capping the number of coal mines at 4,000 through
mergers and acquisitions. (2,30) For example, Shanxi, with the largest coal reserve and coal industry,
experienced two consolidations during 2006 and 2009. 98 percent of coal mines have signed merger
or reorganization agreements and 80 percent of mining licenses have been altered. The number of coal
mines in Shanxi has been reduced from 2,600 to 1,053, and mining companies, from 2,200 to 130.
According to the government of Shanxi, the consolidation has not only led to increased output, but
also led to safety gains. Accidents and deaths were decreased by 40 and 32 percent respectively
compared to 2008. (12) It

Examples Of Hero Cycle Of Harry Potter
The Hero Cycle of Harry Potter
What is a hero s cycle? The hero s cycle is a quest pattern that all heroes (someone who embarks on a
quest) follow. The hero s cycle is found in almost all myths, legends and novels. A great example of
the hero s cycle could be seen in the novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone. The main character,
Harry Potter, goes through three important stages of the cycle, the departure, initiation, and the return
stage. Theses stages have subdivisions which not only contributes to the growth of the hero, but also
lays out what a hero goes through in order to achieve his/her quest.
Joseph Campbell, the founder of the hero s journey precisely lays out each stage and subdivision on
what the hero goes through. The hero first starts in the ordinary world where he is used to everything.
Harry who lives in the cubby under the stairs, is used to being bullied by his uncle, aunt and his
cousin. Harry s journey begins when he gets a mail. This mail is important because Harry has never
received a letter before due to the fact that he has no family. As he is opening the envelope Dudley,
Harry s cousin, sanches the mail from Harry and gives it to his father, Vernon.
Vernon refuses Harry s call to adventure by ripping, burning, and shredding the mail Harry receives.
Joseph Campbell s Hero With A Thousand Faces, as summarized by Christopher Vogler, states, A Hero
often refuses [or is reluctant] to take on the Journey because of fears and insecurities that have

popcorn and count popcorn into a popcorn bag for the number they drew.
Right side: This side I designed for students who are a little more advanced. I spray painted this side
with chalkboard paint so that the students can directly write on the board. The students will role a dice

Perception Of Reality In The Allegory Of The Cave
The issue in the philosophy of perception is explaining how perception could give someone either
knowledge or a justified belief about the world. We recognize this reality to be something which we
cannot change in any way. However, it can not be said about the perception of reality being
completely true. The strange thing of all this is that reality may not actually exist. The reason we all
think in one reality is that we only see our central point of the story. Just because someone sees
something in a specific way does not make it so. This problem has been viewed in terms of a skeptical
argument that appears to show that such knowledge and premise are impossible. Although I agree that
perception of life may or may not be true, I cannot accept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plato has also inquired about our perception. He states that there are two kinds of perception: sensory
perception and spiritual perception. Sensory perception is the world of aspect, in which we perceive,
with the support of our sensory organs. For this reason, the world is the world of illusion. It is the
world of shadows so in Plato s view, it is the world of falsification. The reality or truth is impossible to
perceive through our senses. This extensive metaphor symbolizes how we humans have the ability to
seek for philosophical knowledge or the light, but one will never experience the Truth, the sun, for the
reason that it is what causes blindness for possessing too much knowledge. Although, experiencing the
Truth can be achieved through spiritual perception, which is divine understanding. Spiritual
enlightenment is unique for each individual, but there are some recognizable signs. First, one stops
both suffering and struggling, which are also products of the mind. You will actually have trouble
relating to how you used to manage to suffer, and emotions become valued messengers rather than
problems. Spiritual perception can be possible when we reject the world of sensory perception, so
until and unless we break all the material chains, we will not have spiritual perception. It is the
exemplary philosophy of Plato and his spiritual perception as an ideal

Informative Speech On Thanksgiving
Anyone can eat soul food on any particular day of the year. However, it is something distinctive about
preparing and eating soul food on Thanksgiving Day. Soul food is considered to be fried chicken,
macaroni and cheese, collard greens, breaded fried okra and yams. The preparation and consumption
of soul food have been a staple in my family s tradition for many generations. Perchance the food
tastes better because of the cool crisp air, or maybe it s the Macy s Thanksgiving Day parade. I
honestly don t know why, but I feel like this should be a paten scientific theory. Everything just feels
right on this day, as if the world halts for a split second and it is at harmony. Possibly that is why the
food is cooked to perfection. Even the process of preparing the meal is practically better than eating
the food.
II. Body
For this food to be touched by the food Gods, we must prep for the feast the day before Thanksgiving.

Now that we are finally finished, we can begin to prepare for the feast.

Abstract: Whereas organizations traditionally approach sustainability from a technical perspective,

companies to do things differently . This differentiation and market creation strategy will allow
companies to sufficiently leverage sustainability as a business opportunity. We introduce the concept

This research aims to contribute not only to academic literature, but also to business by creating
practical insights for managers to facilitate SI within their organizations. The resulting model serves as
a basis in answering how organizations can become capable of SI.
This paper starts by providing a theoretical background and describing the methodology of our
research. Subsequently we will briefly discuss a number of cases and thereafter present the theoretical
framework and the corresponding organizational capabilities, alongside initial support. We will finish
by offering directions for future research.
1
Theoretical basis
Prior to discussing the relevant theories concerning the development of the capabilities model for SI
we will discuss the changing position of sustainability in an academic and business context.
In the past 20 years, a shift has been observed in the global sustainability agenda from legislation to
sustainability as a competitive advantage. This is illustrated by the significance of an international
agreement such as the Kyoto Protocol in 1997 versus the voluntary carbon neutral commitments that
several businesses (HSBC and BT to name a few) made a mere decade later. The aforementioned
example also demonstrates how public pressure can influence corporate response. The Kyoto protocol
was conceived at a time when governments were held accountable for sustainability issues, whereas
organizations are expected to take their

Trapped In The Chosen
In society today people can feel trapped by many different things like expectations and rules. In the
book the chosen, by Chium Potok Danny feels trapped by his strict religious rules and traditions and
by the expectations of his father and his father s congregation. Reuven uses an analogy in the story
about a spider and a fly. The fly is trapped in the web of the spider and can t get out. When Rueven
sees this he thinks of Danny. Feeling trapped is a very normal feeling for people today because of the
way society works. The perfect image is something that can come up a lot when one thinks about

Religion can be a very helpful think in ones life until it becomes a burden because a person has
disconnected from what really matters and is focused on perfectly following everything according to
traditions and rules. In the chosen, that is one thing that did trap Danny because he never found beauty
in his faith. Danny and his father are having a conflict about faith a because Danny is next in line to
become the tsaddik but that s not what Danny wants for his life. One thing that puts a lot of burden on
people is expectations from parents and the fact that one feels a strong need to live up to them. When a
parent puts expectations on their child instead of a different adult the weight of those expectaions
becomes ten times bigger and those children begin to feel trapped. It is hard for a child to stand up to
thei parents inthese situations so the feelings of being trapped become greater. Sometimes that person
just needs someone to give them that push they need to get away from the feeling of being trapped.
Rueven was that person for Danny. In the story, when Rueven sees the spider web and te fly, he begins
to feel sorry for the struggleing fly so he blows on it to try to set it free so it could fly away. Danny

The Importance Of Voting In America
With the presidential election going on today I am baffled at how many of my friends care so little

and my vote wouldn t matter anyways, so I m just not going to do it... I was baffled at how little she
cared and how she didn t want to try to understand more about the people running in order for her to

The fact that we know more about a cartoon than we do about our freedoms is terrifying. I feel as
though our younger generation has taken for granted the wonderful nation we live in that allows them
to post on social media, take selfies, say what they want, and even wear what they want. They are so
self consumed that things like politics are not even a blimp on their radar so why try to learn more
about it. I myself was not too sure on who I would be voting for a couple days before the election, so I
took the time educated myself on all the candidates and then was surer about my vote. If we as a
younger generation do not take the time to study an understand all of these political matters then
worse could come to worse and we could lose our freedom just by allowing others who may not have
the countries best interest make all the decisions for us. Education is the key to success and without
educating ourselves on what is going on in the world we live in we are allowing others to take control

Titled after the proverbial saying, If life gives you lemons, make lemonade, Lemonade was released as

larger storyline. Beyoncé explores themes of betrayal, anger, forgiveness, redemption, and celebration
through lyrics, spoken word, and cinematic elements. The opening song on the album titled, Pray You

breath as you pass it off so cavalier... Prayin to catch you whispering, I m prayin you catch me
listening. In these lines, she is singing of a lover s infidelity which sets the scene for the songs that

grew thickened skin on my feet, I bathed in bleach... but still inside me, coiled deep, was the need to
know ... Are you cheating on me? She proceeds to write to her lover, that his infidelity was a wicked
way to treat the girl that loves you. In the following songs titled Don t Hurt Yourself, Sorry, Daddy

Benefits Of Implementing The Parental Leave Policy
The United States and the United States Army had made several revisions to the paternity/ maternity
leave policies. Even with current changes we are not where we need to be. The United States Army
currently offers 10 days of paternity leave to Soldiers that are married¹ and 12 weeks of maternity
leave for female Soldiers.² The Army should convert these two policies into one policy titled parental
leave. Some of the benefits of implementing the parental leave policy are mother s physical and
mental readiness, increased performance, and equality.
Maternity leave is to allow for the women to heal after delivering a baby. Having the father/ spouse
home during the first ten days is helpful but not enough time. The father/ spouse being present can
allow for them to take on some of the child rearing activities. These activities can range from bathing,
diapering, feeding and etc. This helping hand will allow for the mother to get more rest aiding in a
faster recovery, provide breaks from child rearing that reduces the likeness of postpartum depression
and create more flexibility. Parental leave will provide the ability for the father/ spouse to support the
maternal mother through the duration of her medical recovery, which is an average of six weeks. This
can be a stressful time as the female body regulates its hormones. Another important medical factor is
the father/ spouse can help monitor the mother s signs and symptoms and get the help if necessary. In

All About the Brake-Assist System Essay
The Brake Assisted System
The purpose of the brake assisted system
The purpose of the brake assisted system is assist when the user applies force to the brake pedal that is
not sufficient enough to stop the vehicle. Based on the speed and force to which the brake pedal is
pressed, the brake assisted system will detect if an emergency is taking place or could have taken
place. The brake assist system increases the brake pressure until the ABS regulation intervenes to
prevent the wheels from locking. This way the greatest possible braking effect can be achieved and the
brake path can be shortened significantly.

2. How much actually exert in the brake when using manual braking system?
If we were to take a look at a situation where the piston in the master cylinder is pushes 40mm with
10N force. It is understood that the slave piston will then move 10mm with a force of 40N. Now, that
force can be further increased by inserting a lever connected between piston, pedal and pivot point.
Note that, if the distance from the pedal to the pivot is 3 times the distance from the pivot to the
connected piston, then it multiplies the pedal force by a factor of 3, as the user is pushing down on the
pedal.
In case of a user who pushes pedal 120mm down with 10N force, 30N force will be applied to the
master piston and slave piston move the brake pad by 10mm of a force of 120N.

The Late Century French Noble Constructed By Odo Of Cluny
The early medieval nobility consists of elites within society of a higher social and political status due
to their wealth, lineage, and reputation within the community. It can be argued that Gerald, a 10th
century French noble constructed by Odo of Cluny embodies the social and political role of the
nobility at the time, most prominently represented in his key role as a lord with heightening power in
the ever developing feudal system, and integrally linked with this, his unwavering loyalty to the king
and monarchy. In contrary, Gerald portrays many qualities that arguably do not mirror the likes of a
10th century noble such as his questionable masculinity and sexuality reflected through his pacifistic
nature and his greater focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bisson describes this as power without restraint , which, perhaps backwardly, is reflected in Gerald s
lack of aggression he is able to take matters into his own hands and disregard the general higher
authority consensus on how vassals should be managed. However, countering this localised power yet
underpinning Gerald s role as a noble with political influence is his refusal of William of Aquitaine s
offer to join forces and thus enforcing his loyalty to the king. At the time, political power was gained
by a positive and resilient relationship with the king, as Airlie suggests that The motor that propelled
fortunate members of the aristocracy across Europe was royal favour and patronage . This devotion
strengthens Gerald s perceived role of reflecting a typical noble s political influence, as nobility was at
its strongest when showing loyalty to the Carolingian kingship.
However it can be argued that Gerald did not reflect the political role of a noble in the 10th century,
shown through his greater obligation to monastic duties than secular political influence. Gerald wore
old fashioned woollen or linen clothes as his strength lay in God rather than in gold or the multitude of
riches . This was unlike nobles at the time, who undoubtedly would have gained more political control
by looking presentable and appearing as a typical respectable noble. Although religion would have
been an integral feature in the lives of nobility,

Competition Review the advertising of your major competitors. Document where their ads are placed,
as well as their messages and their major selling points. Use that information in developing your own
advertising strategies. This technique saves you work, because your competition has done it for you.
For example, sites like Groupon, Living Social and AngiesList provide their members with substantial
discounts on daily deals. They advertise through ad words and graphic banners on websites and
television. They all have affiliate programs, as well. If you were starting a daily discount program,
those methods have proved effective for these companies, so they should do well for you. Customers
Keep your customers in mind when developing ads and deciding where they ll be placed. Stress the
benefits of your product rather than the attributes, such as customers will spend less, receive better
service, have more time or feel more secure. One technique is defining how your customer has a

Plan your advertising campaign to be consistent and repetitive. Potential customers generally need to
see an ad several times before they re ready to investigate the product or company. Companies that
implement several different ad campaigns often do that to capture different market segments.
However, the message of the ads remains constant. Think of Geico ads, which include the gecko,
cavemen and a man asking rhetorical questions but the message of getting fast, inexpensive car
insurance remains constant. McDonald s appeals to children with Ronald McDonald, to generation Y
with I m lovin it and to parents with the emphasis on healthy foods while simultaneously emphasizing
good food and low prices. The gecko is successful, because when a person who has seen the Geico ads
needs auto insurance, that image is memorable, according to Simon Owens, author of The Geico

Othello Racism Analysis
Isolation, by definition, represent the act of being separated from a general group. In William
Shakespeare s Othello, racism can be seen as a common thing throughout the dialogues in the play.
Almost every single character have made racial slurs towards Othello. The protagonist, Othello is seen
as an isolated individual from the rest of Venice due to his skin colour. Othello feels insecure about his
race. The antagonist, Iago is able to take advantage of Othello s insecurities and weak emotions by
endlessly convinces him about Desdemona s infidelity. Racism in his society and Othello s sense of
heroism contribute to his downfall. However, Othello s insecurity regarding his race is the tragic flaw
that caused his downfall, killing both himself and his loved wife.
Externally, In Othello society, other s racist comments against him incorporate some impact on
Othello s downfall. Characters such as Roderigo, Iago, and Brabantio referred Othello as an inhumane
being. Othello was known as the moor and thick lips by Iago and Roderigo. Almost everyone
discriminates Othello verbally because of his skin colour. Yet, Iago is the most racist towards Othello,
he attempted to aggravate Brabantio by telling him an old black ram (I, III,23) is making the beast
with two backs with your white ewe . Iago referred Othello as black and Desdemona as white, where
two of them contradict each other. Iago intended to upset Brabantio by using racist animal imagery to
prove to Brabantio about his daughter s elopement. We can see that Iago have no respect for Othello
as a person, but only sees him as a black animal. Nonetheless, Desdemona s father, Brabantio also
have a racist attitude towards Othello. Brabantio doesn t seem to believe that Othello won his daughter
over with his personality. He believes Desdemona is abused, stol n, corrupted by spells and medicine
(I, III,60 61). Brabantio considered her daughter s elopement unnatural because he just cannot believe
his daughter fall in love with what she feared to look on ( ). Others racist comment around Othello
exposes his inner insecurity step by step, up to a point that Othello can no longer take it and causes his
downfall.
Internally, Othello s insecurities about

Representation Of The House Of Representatives
The legislature of the United States consists of two houses, the Senate and the House of
Representatives. The bicameral system was created by the Founding Fathers in order to carry out one
of the most imperative functions of Congress, representation amongst other function such as
legislation, deliberation and scrutiny. The Senate ensures each state is equally represented with two
congressmen, equally the House of Representatives also has to carry out the function of representation
but its representatives unlike the Senate are proportioned to the population of the states for example
California has 55 representatives however Alaska has 1. Even though representation is an important
and well known function of the legislature the extent to which it is carried out can be argued to have
declined in the subsequent years due to factors such as the expansion of the population. The role of
representation was intended to be carried out in 13 states under the Founding Fathers however the
increase to 50 has made this function increasingly difficult. The creation of the House of
Representatives ensured the function of representation would be carried out as the house was
proportioned to equally represent all the states. Having a set number of representatives in one states
according to population ensures that the voices of that state s population can be heard effectively. The
Framers choice of a bicameral system was in part a choice to leverage two different representational
schemes. The

railroad line between Yokohama and Tokyo in 1972, and this really shows how much Japan was
modernizing before the Russo Japanese war. Russia was experiencing a lot of tumult before the Russo
Japanese war. A large political group, The Social Democratic Labor Party, split into two sides in 1903,
one called the Bolsheviks and the other the mensheviks. They had the Crimean war in 1853 to 1857,
and the Russo Turkish war from 1877 to 1878. They also experienced a rapid increase in industrialism
after they stopped the practice of serfdom in 1861. This increase in industrialism led to a big working

Confidentiality Agreements During the initial hiring process, you should have your new employee
sign a confidentiality agreement. While surprising to learn, a confidentiality agreement is different
from noncompete agreements. A confidentiality agreement asks that the employee keeps all business
related information confidential during and after employment. Not only will this agreement hold the
employee liable if information is disclosed to competitors and third parties, but the confidentiality
agreement also holds you liable in case information regarding your employee is ever disclosed. Are

Sometimes I think that sleeping isn t important because I thought that sleep wouldn t help your body.
Well I was wrong to say that because it does help your body. The amount of sleep you get each day
impacts over the course of your life. I was asked if sleep had a huge impact on your health. Well my
answer is yes it does have a huge impact. Some people don t have enough hours of sleep, some have
too much, and some don t know how much their suppose to sleep. Despite the fact that some people
think that sleep isn t important, I m going to prove that sleep is important According to Source 1, if
you routinely lose sleep or choose to sleep less then needed, the sleep loss will add up. The total sleep
loss is like your sleep debt. For example, if you lose 2 hours of sleep each night, you ll have a sleep

They also think that only little children should take naps. Their wrong if they think that only little
children should take naps. My reason is that there is evidence that napping can benefit people of all
ages. Many famous historical figures take naps. Napping helps people deal with stress and it could
renew a person s energy. For example, if the brilliant scientist Albert Einstein didn t take naps he
would ve never had invented the light bulb. If the amazing artist Leonardo Da Vinci didn t take naps,
eh would ve been too sleepy to paint the Mona Lisa. The human body operates according to the

Death Of Socrates Research Paper
The Truth Behind The Death of Socrates
The government has always had regulations that must be followed. One of these cases was in Athens,
399 BC, confronting the trial and execution of Socrates. This particular situation focused on the
violations of the government s devine rules and expectations; however, there is more than meets the
eye as to why the execution took place. Socrates execution was brought upon by his thoughts and
teachings, the conflicting ideas of the government, and his refusal of a trial.
The initial reason for the execution of Socrates was his idea about the Athenian government and said
corruption of the youths. The article, The Trial and Execution of Socrates: 399 bce, talks of Socrates
view of the democratic Athenian government saying, He felt it did not go far enough in promoting
ethical governance of the citizenry (The Trial and Execution of Socrates: bce). Socrates put down the
government s leadership in the community and proposed his own ideas to those who would listen. A
large majority of his followers were young men whose minds were ... Show more content on

article titled The Suicide of Socrates, 399 BC the author mentions, regarding Socrates, that His anti
democratic views had turned many in the city against him (The Suicide of Socrates, 399 BC). During
the Athenian rule, most people had only the ideas that the government placed in their minds. Anyone
who believed otherwise, as Socrates had, would be punished. Moreover, as told in the article, The
Greeks and America s founding fathers, part 2: Learning what not to do, Socrates was convicted to
death for charges against the state of atheism and misleading the youths (Sandefur). Socrates objection
of the government s beliefs and teachings to the young men of Athens lead to his

Double Indemnity And Reservoir Dog Analysis
The two films I analyzed are Double Indemnity (Wilder, 1944) and Reservoir Dogs (Tarantino, 1992)
they follow the film noir tradition, which, according to Blaser (2008) is a style more directors moved
to employing after the world war. Averagely, film noir explores the many aspects of being human such
as the greed, lust, love, truth, and lies. The two films move away from the tradition of the previous
films that insisted on the family as central to humanity with women and men having different roles in
society. While the first movie, as the name suggests, is about an insurance policy and the two leading
characters manipulate others to their benefit, the second is about a group of thieves who ambush one
another. A typical film noir follows and encounters the same traits could lead regarding, as Blaser
terms it in A Short Description of film noir, thematic content (Blaser, 2008). The directors of both
films use lighting and shadows to manipulate the mood of the films and the black and white, low lit
scenes which compliment the dialogues between characters. Wilder s Double Indemnity tells a tale of
murder, love, and betrayal while Reservoir Dogs is about crooks who get caught up in a diamond heist
that fails to run smoothly due to deception. Both films showed the underbellies of society by human
actions led by greed and lust, they often make the perpetrators forget what could happen when things
go wrong hence some of the characters in both films end up facing the consequences for their
involvement.
The directors of both films use lighting and shadows in almost every scene to depict the darkness of
the characters and focus on the mood of the films. The low lit dinner at the beginning of Tarantino s
Reservoir Dogs depicts the underworld in the rest of the film. Furthermore, most of the scenes that
dominate in the film noir are shot in an abandoned warehouse that is lowly lit. Mr. Blonde asks Joe if
he could shoot Mr. White and White suggests that even if Blonde shot him in his dreams, he should
wake up and apologize. The conversation the group holds at the dinner table does not escalate into
violence but is still corrupt and portrays the character s take on violence. The director was trying to
make the viewer see

  • 2. The Media And Popular Culture Media and Popular Culture Popular culture is different from traditional culture; it is based on the timeline of the significant characteristics of a culture. Popular culture is the ideas, attitudes, thinking, memes, images, and other phenomena that are in the mainstream of a given culture, especially the western culture in the early 20th century to the middle 20th century and the emerging global mainstream in the early 20th and the 21st century. Deeply influenced by the mass media, this collection of ideas permeates daily life of the society (Wikipedia 2014). Mass media is conceived and designed to reach a very large media audience. It may need to be in the form of broadcast media, in television and radio, or print media, such as newspapers and magazines. Internet media can also obtain the status of the mass media; actually, with so many ways out there provided by internet media, mass media has been more accessible than ever before. Some people also call it the mainstream media , refer to the fact that it tends to give prominent coverage to the news that are cater for the interest of the public, while ignores the controversial news. Most people around the world are dependent on mainstream sources for most of their news, so globally, it has already been a huge industry. But there could be some problems with mass means too, as it could devour the diversity and have negative effect on popular culture. The continuous development of communication technology, especially the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although , ephedrine was considered as the drug of choice as a vasopressor in obstetrics it not take the superiority. [21 23] It was reported that the administration of ephedrine increases the blood pressure of the mother by its beta adrenergic action , so preserving uterine and placental blood flow, while other vasopressors which have a pure alpha agonist were associated with a decrease in this blood flow.[7] However, previous studies observed that ephedrine has a similar efficacy as other vasopressor and causes fetal acidosis.[24] As regard to ephedrine group, this study observed hypotension in 37.9% of ... Therefore, in our study, we used a bolus followed by continuous infusion to maintain good control of SBP with ephedrine probably to attempt increasing maternal blood pressure before onset of spinal block induced hypotension. The recommended dose for IV ephedrine infusion is between 0.5 mg/min to 5mg/min.[26] We selected a lower infusion dose (1.5 mg/min), after a small dose bolus (6 mg), as our target was to keep blood pressure at baseline. We found that with this regime ephedrine had a limited effect in maintaining blood pressure without evidence of fetal acidosis as there was a significant decrease in SBP after induction up to 14min in E group when compared all values with the baseline value but still higher than L and C groups. This result differ from the result of other authors [6,25,29] who used 2.5 ml/min of ephedrine as an infusion after 5mg bolus dose. They reported that with this dose, ephedrine was effective in maintaining blood pressure without evidence of fetal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Vincent s Case A Senior Louisiana State trooper Steven Vincent, 43, was dead after receiving two gunshots in his head by a gunman, at the side of the road in Bell City, Louisiana, on Monday. Vincent was supposed to help a possibly impaired driver who was also responsible for his death. Reuters reported that Kevin Diagle, 54, was charged of first degree murder and aggregated battery of a police. In a press conference, State Police Colonel Michael Edmonson detailed the scene that was recorded on a dashboard camera of the police car. In addition, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso said that Diagle could also be involved to a death of a person before his encounter with the trooper. The authorities are yet to release reports in his alleged involvement. Moreover in the press conference, Edmonson thanked the motorists who stopped to rescue Vincent with their heroic act in getting the gun out from Diagle. They stopped to help my trooper and I will never forget that, Edmonson said. I was pretty proud of them, he added. Edmonson also said on his statement, As an organization, we are heartbroken over this senseless and tragic death. • 5. The Value Of Waste Control Mass customization of products has become a common approach in manufacturing organizations. Explain the ways in which mass customization can be applied to service firms as well. In many ways mass customization has always been a factor that service firms have necessarily embraced. The intangible business of dealing with people directly and providing services is by nature customized to individuals involved in the transaction(s). What mass customization of products in manufacturing contexts can provide to service organizations by way of example; are the models of lean manufacturing, kaizen and organizational structure. Lean manufacturing teaches the value of waste control, kaizen frames continuous improvement and the common factor between these approaches is highly trained employees (Daft, 2016). Highly trained employees who are empowered and versed in both technical aspects and soft skill aspects of customer interaction; best support a service organization. A service organization employee has to be able to address customized requests at each interaction, which is why service firms are labor and knowledge intensive (Daft, 2016, p. 273) when compared to the product focus of a manufacturing firm. Although there is that clear difference in focus (or expenditure) between a manufacturing organization and a service organization, an organic structure is most applicable for both. Highly trained and empowered employees function best in an organic, decentralized environment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of Love Actually By Richard Curtis The movie Love Actually (2003) by Richard Curtis demonstrates how the connections between people are limitless and that love is a concept that has the ability to lift people up and tear people down. The movie follows the lives of nine different relationships and the audience is able to see every aspect of love, romantic, platonic, familial and more. In an article by Ben Dreyfuss, he points out that most critics of the film point like to say that Love Actually is a saccharine soulless picture that relies on an emotionally manipulative soundtrack and has nothing to say but somehow takes 136 minutes to say it (Dreyfuss). However, that is not the case. This movie has had a lot of controversy since the release in 2003. In this paper I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This film does a great job of showing that not all loves are happy and pleasant all the time. In an article written by Seija Rankin, she points out that people do refer to their desired relationships in the context of popular films . (Rankin) This is a reason why this film is so important, especially in today s culture of romanticizing everything. People need to see real world examples of what love looks like. They need to be aware that love does not always go right, and everything is not always flowers and daisies. While the Prime minister and Natalie s story worked out, not everyone in the films did. Love Actually is just that, portraying love as in actually is. Not just the pleasant happily ever side but also what happens after happily ever after. For example, the story of Juliet, Peter, and Mark. Joliet and Peter get married at the beginning of the film and Mark is the best man. Juliet has always had the impression that Mark did not like her as he never really made any attempts to get closer to her or get to know her in any way. Through a series of event Juliet finds out that Mark has actually been in love with her the entire time. Once she finds this out at the end of the film Mark shows up and tells her yes, he is in love with her, but he knows that they can not be together. This highlights the unhappy sides to love. • 7. Mentos Lab Introduction: The diet coke and Mentos experiment has been a favorite of amateur scientists, but how does it work? There have been debates, and scientists have concluded that the diet coke and Mentos is a physical reaction, called nucleation. Nucleation sites are areas that have high surface with low volume. Such places can be your fingerprint, scratches on glass, specks of dust, or even Mentos candy (Eepy Bird). Mentos candies have a pitted surface that s rough when looked at through a microscope, therefore creating a wonderful place for nucleation to occur. Mountain Dew made the smallest fountain with the worst results because it had the most amount of soda left over after the reactoin. 3. What differences are there between the diet and regular soda? How does this affect the size of the fountain? The difference between diet and regular soda is that diet soda uses artificial sweeteners, like aspartame for example. This affects the fountain because low surface tension helps bubbles grow quickly. The surface tension in water containing aspartame is lower than sugary water, which explains why diet soda creates a bigger fountain thatn regular soda (NewScientist). 4. • 8. Arterial Oxygen Saturation It is known that as altitude increases, atmospheric pressure decreases, as does the partial pressure of oxygen (Hall Table 44 1). That same table demonstrates that the partial pressures of both oxygen and carbon dioxide in the alveoli decrease as well. However, the alveolar water vapor pressure remains unchanged constant at 47mmHg no matter the altitude (Hall 561). The most deleterious result of these factors is that less oxygen is being delivered to the tissues. Fortunately for me, Guyton and Hall says that altitude has a relatively insignificant effect on arterial oxygen saturation at 9,000ft (Hall Figure 44 1). It is not until 10,000ft that arterial oxygen saturation begins to steeply decline. The physical affects of acute hypoxia according to Hall are drowsiness, lassitude, mental and muscle fatigue, sometimes headache, occasionally nausea, and sometimes euphoria. However, the author is quick to point out that it is nonetheless a slow process and therefore not nearly as vital to acclimitization as the other factors that come into play, the most crucial of which is the increase pulmonary ventilation (West). Low oxygen is immediately sensed by chemoreceptors in the carotid and aortic bodies, which then send signals to the respiratory centers of the brain, resulting in an increase in respiration. In a matter of only days, acclimitization increases our: pulmonary ventilation, concentration of red blood cells, lung diffusing capacity, vascularity of tissues, and ability of cells to use oxygen (Hall ... • 9. The Importance Of Communication And Parents Or Guardians... 1. A teacher can provide positive communication to parents or guardians by making a good impression from the first contact. Communication itself can be done through email, notes, calls, or face to face. The best way to begin a good communication channel is by starting early to contact the parents and introduce yourself and your expectations/plans for communication. By stating these to both the parent and the student, everyone will know the best way to contact you. This makes it easier for you to send the information and for the parents to receive it in a timely manner. 2. In my observation classroom, the teacher likes to use guided questions to facilitate class discussion. Currently, the 8th graders are reading To Kill a Mockingbird. Sometimes it is good to begin on the comprehension level to make sure that the students understand the plot of the story before asking them further questions about analysis. She will then ask them what conclusions they draw from the text and what makes them think that. Finally, they are asked to evaluate what they are reading. Do you agree with Atticus decision to defend Tom Robinson? What would you do in Scout s position if that was your father? She helps them go beyond just the knowledge level in order to better understand the importance of the story. 3. The Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access (of the Committee on Small Business) entitled Improving Capital Access Programs within the SBA , discussed ways to give more money to its veteran entrepreneurs. This would be done by changing the loan process within the Small Business Administration. The House report gives the following testimony from, a lender authorized to operate in the Loan Program that the initiative would help SBA guaranteed lenders get needed capital to veterans, (p.4 HR). This is where the idea was planted and then it was assigned by the speaker, Mr. John Boehner, to the House Committee on Small Business. Introduced May 21, 2015, Representative Steve Chabot, Chairman of the Small Business Committee, recommended to increase access to capital for veteran entrepreneurs. This act was named the Veterans Entrepreneurship Act of 2015. Along with Rep Chabot were six cosponsors in the House: Rep Mike Bost (IL), Rep Carlos Curbelo (FL), Rep Christopher Gibson (NY), Rep Richard Hanna (NY), Rep Steve Knight (CA), and Rep Tom Rice (SC). All six gentlemen are republicans and members of the House Committee on Small Business. Every Student Succeeds Act, was signed into law in 2015 and is replacing the No Child Left Behind Act. ESSA is a system that gives states more flexibility as it relates to funding, assessment and accountability. Moreover, there are many positive components to ESSA that will help a superintendent be effective in their position. One positive concept of the ESSA accountability system is that it will utilize the federal and state standards by merging them into one while the efficiency is analyzed. In addition to this, ESSA ended the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) requirement that was designed Under the No Child Left Behind Law while allowing states to eliminate unnecessary assessments. According to (Feagan, 2009), AYP was defined during this time as a stronger accountability measure. It was the only accountability system used to determine if schools were successful. This law made it difficult for superintendents to effectively move schools because AYP looked at individual subgroups in addition to individual groups. • 12. Analysis Of Meghan Trainor s All About That Bass The music industry nowadays is becoming more and more overloaded with songs orientated around, how to charm a man, what it takes to get a man and of course how compete and outshine another female for a man. However whilst being initially happy that Meghan Trainor s All About That Bass became so very popular in receiving praise for encouraging women to celebrate and embrace their curves; the chart topper become an almost girl power anthem on a positive body image, which in my opinion is needed and long overdue in times like these. Trainor s effort stands out, taking the top spot in 27 countries around the world, racking up an impressive 1.6 million views on YouTube. This was however until I was past the catchy, bubble gum pink tune and addictive baseline and paid closer attention to the lyrics of Trainor s clever marketing ploy, it s clear to see that All About That Bass is as far from a feminist anthem as they come and unfortunately altered my interpretation that in fact that Trainor was feeding young girls a negative perception of what is expected of them and their bodies, as they are brought up alongside the pressures of today s media driven and highly influenced society. The lyrics made me upset, annoyed, angry and a little embarrassed all at the same time. While I applaud Trainor for her efforts in encouraging women to embrace their bodies, I remained to be blind in seeing the need, or even understand why she mixed these messages with body shaming and ... One uniqueness of the Mormon religion is that it was the first church to have begun in the United States. Following the revivals of the 1800 s, religion entered a temporary decline in Western New York, reawakened in 1807 1808, then declined again because of the military excitement The Chnts of 1812. He went into the woods to pray and in the words of Joseph Smith, I saw a pillar of light over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me . . . when the light rested upon me I saw two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spoke unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other, This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him. To Joseph this meant that he was forgiven of his sins and was not to join any of the organized churches. For the Mormons the visit of an angel to Joseph Smith during the night of September 21, 1823, signaled the documentary foundation of Mormonism. A statue representing the angel stands atop the Salt Lake Temple. In one hand the figure holds a trumpet: in the other are clasped plates symbolic of the Book of Mormon, the ancient religious record whose existence Smith claimed was revealed to him in 1823. The hero s cycle is found in almost all myths, legends and novels. A great example of the hero s cycle could be seen in the novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone. The main character, Harry Potter, goes through three important stages of the cycle, the departure, initiation, and the return stage. Theses stages have subdivisions which not only contributes to the growth of the hero, but also lays out what a hero goes through in order to achieve his/her quest. Joseph Campbell, the founder of the hero s journey precisely lays out each stage and subdivision on what the hero goes through. The hero first starts in the ordinary world where he is used to everything. Harry who lives in the cubby under the stairs, is used to being bullied by his uncle, aunt and his cousin. Harry s journey begins when he gets a mail. This mail is important because Harry has never received a letter before due to the fact that he has no family. As he is opening the envelope Dudley, Harry s cousin, sanches the mail from Harry and gives it to his father, Vernon. Perception Of Reality In The Allegory Of The Cave The issue in the philosophy of perception is explaining how perception could give someone either knowledge or a justified belief about the world. We recognize this reality to be something which we cannot change in any way. However, it can not be said about the perception of reality being completely true. The strange thing of all this is that reality may not actually exist. The reason we all think in one reality is that we only see our central point of the story. The reality or truth is impossible to perceive through our senses. It is understood that the slave piston will then move 10mm with a force of 40N. Now, that force can be further increased by inserting a lever connected between piston, pedal and pivot point. Note that, if the distance from the pedal to the pivot is 3 times the distance from the pivot to the connected piston, then it multiplies the pedal force by a factor of 3, as the user is pushing down on the pedal. In case of a user who pushes pedal 120mm down with 10N force, 30N force will be applied to the master piston and slave piston move the brake pad by 10mm of a force of 120N. 3. • 36. The Late Century French Noble Constructed By Odo Of Cluny The early medieval nobility consists of elites within society of a higher social and political status due to their wealth, lineage, and reputation within the community. It can be argued that Gerald, a 10th century French noble constructed by Odo of Cluny embodies the social and political role of the nobility at the time, most prominently represented in his key role as a lord with heightening power in the ever developing feudal system, and integrally linked with this, his unwavering loyalty to the king and monarchy. In contrary, Gerald portrays many qualities that arguably do not mirror the likes of a 10th century noble such as his questionable masculinity and sexuality reflected through his pacifistic nature and his greater focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bisson describes this as power without restraint , which, perhaps backwardly, is reflected in Gerald s lack of aggression he is able to take matters into his own hands and disregard the general higher authority consensus on how vassals should be managed. However, countering this localised power yet underpinning Gerald s role as a noble with political influence is his refusal of William of Aquitaine s offer to join forces and thus enforcing his loyalty to the king. At the time, political power was gained by a positive and resilient relationship with the king, as Airlie suggests that The motor that propelled fortunate members of the aristocracy across Europe was royal favour and patronage . This devotion strengthens Gerald s perceived role of reflecting a typical noble s political influence, as nobility was at its strongest when showing loyalty to the Carolingian kingship. However it can be argued that Gerald did not reflect the political role of a noble in the 10th century, shown through his greater obligation to monastic duties than secular political influence. Gerald wore old fashioned woollen or linen clothes as his strength lay in God rather than in gold or the multitude of riches . This was unlike nobles at the time, who undoubtedly would have gained more political control by looking presentable and appearing as a typical respectable noble. Although religion would have been an integral feature in the lives of nobility, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The bicameral system was created by the Founding Fathers in order to carry out one of the most imperative functions of Congress, representation amongst other function such as legislation, deliberation and scrutiny. The Senate ensures each state is equally represented with two congressmen, equally the House of Representatives also has to carry out the function of representation but its representatives unlike the Senate are proportioned to the population of the states for example California has 55 representatives however Alaska has 1. Even though representation is an important and well known function of the legislature the extent to which it is carried out can be argued to have declined in the subsequent years due to factors such as the expansion of the population. The role of representation was intended to be carried out in 13 states under the Founding Fathers however the increase to 50 has made this function increasingly difficult. The creation of the House of Representatives ensured the function of representation would be carried out as the house was proportioned to equally represent all the states. Double Indemnity And Reservoir Dog Analysis The two films I analyzed are Double Indemnity (Wilder, 1944) and Reservoir Dogs (Tarantino, 1992) they follow the film noir tradition, which, according to Blaser (2008) is a style more directors moved to employing after the world war. Averagely, film noir explores the many aspects of being human such as the greed, lust, love, truth, and lies. The two films move away from the tradition of the previous films that insisted on the family as central to humanity with women and men having different roles in society. While the first movie, as the name suggests, is about an insurance policy and the two leading characters manipulate others to their benefit, the second is about a group of thieves who ambush one another. A typical film noir follows and encounters the same traits could lead regarding, as Blaser terms it in A Short Description of film noir, thematic content (Blaser, 2008). The directors of both films use lighting and shadows to manipulate the mood of the films and the black and white, low lit scenes which compliment the dialogues between characters. Wilder s Double Indemnity tells a tale of murder, love, and betrayal while Reservoir Dogs is about crooks who get caught up in a diamond heist that fails to run smoothly due to deception. Both films showed the underbellies of society by human actions led by greed and lust, they often make the perpetrators forget what could happen when things go wrong hence some of the characters in both films end up facing the consequences for their involvement. The directors of both films use lighting and shadows in almost every scene to depict the darkness of the characters and focus on the mood of the films. The low lit dinner at the beginning of Tarantino s Reservoir Dogs depicts the underworld in the rest of the film. Furthermore, most of the scenes that dominate in the film noir are shot in an abandoned warehouse that is lowly lit. Mr. Blonde asks Joe if he could shoot Mr. White and White suggests that even if Blonde shot him in his dreams, he should wake up and apologize.
