MICROBIOLOGICAL EVALUATION
OF CLINICAL ENDOMETRITIS IN
BOVINES
Submitted by :- Rohit Kumar
(v-11-3-43)
AIM
 To provide choice of antibiotics in field
conditions
Increase the conception rate and settle the
problems of repeat breeding due to endometritis
 To reduce the cost of treatment in field conditions
 Prevention of abandoning of sterile cows
caused by chronic endometritis
ENDOMETRITIS
Characteriszed by inflamation of the
endometrium with turbid cervico vaginal
discharge. It influences fertility of the
animal. It is one of the major reason for
repeat breeding in bovines.
CLEAR DISCHARGE
TURBID DISCHARGE
APPEARANCES OF DISCHARGES
•0 is clear.
•All other discharges are from
endometritis.
MAJOR CAUSES
• Mall practice by untrained practitioners
• Lack of diagnostic facilities in the field
hospitals
Endometritis influences
the fertility in two ways
1.) SHORT TERM-
• Extend calving to
conception interval
• Increases no. of
services/conception
2.) LONG TERM-
• STERILITY
Diagnosis
• History
• Clinical signs
• Rectal examination
• Ultrasonography
• Vaginoscopy
• White Side test
• Uterine biopsy
• Bacterial culture

MOST COMMONLY FOUND BACTERIA IN
CLINICAL ENDOMERITIS:-

Conclusions
In culture sensitivity of cervical mucus:-
• highest sensitivity was recorded for Ciprofloxacin and
Enrofloxacin in all the cases followed by ofloxacin ,gentamicin
and other antibiotics used have also shown good sensitivity.
• highest resistance was recorded for Metronidazole ,
co-Trimaxazole . Resistance was also noticed for Penicilin and
oxytetracycline .
