Potential Risk Precaution Emergency
Tripping over wires from
lights or other electrical
equipment.
Make sure all wires are
out of the way and tidy as
possible. Have main light
on when not shooting so
wires are easy to see
when moving around.
If someone trips, assess
the injury to see if they
need medical attention.
Model falling off the
small bench used as a
raised platform in the
shoot.
Make sure model is
wearing appropriate
footwear. Make sure
bench is placed on even
grounding
If model falls check to see
if they have any injuries
and if they need medical
attention.
Falling off ladder when
changing the background
colours.
If a ladder is used have
another member of the
team holding the bottom
so it is secure. If using
the ladder, make sure
appropriate footwear is
worn to reduce the risk
of slipping.
If someone falls from a
low height, check to see if
they have any injuries
and if they need medical
attention. If someone
falls from a high level, do
not move them and call
emergency services.
Bright studio lights that
can be hot to the touch.
Make sure people don’t
touch the lighting by
telling them not to and
having them positioned a
safe distance from the
models.
If they touch the light it
should not burn but I will
still assess the model to
make sure they are okay.
Lighting overheating or
electrical misuse can
possibly cause fire or
electrical sparks.
Turn off equipment when
not in use to stop
overheating and shutting
down.
I would clear the area
and make sure everyone
was okay and call
emergency services in
the case of a fire.
Harlow Museum
Potential Risk Precaution Emergency
Breaking or damaging
any of the artifacts on
display in the museum.
Stay a safe distance from
the artifacts but if not
possible treat them with
care.
If something was to get
broken we would replace
it or pay the damage cost
as agreed in the location
release form.
Tripping over or
becoming injured when
filming shots in darker
settings.
Keep the space the actors
will be in clear and have
any extra equipment out
of the way.
Immediately turn the
lights on to assess the
injury and seek medical
attention if needed.
Actors slipping over
during exterior action
scenes.
Wear shoes with grip to
avoid this. Scenes can
also be sped up in
postproduction so actors
do not need to move as
quickly.
If someone falls check to
see if they are injured
and seek medical
assistance if necessary.
Equipment getting wet
due to rain.
Have a crew member
hold an umbrella over
the equipment whilst
filming and cover
equipment when moving
in between shots.
If weather continued to
get worse we would have
to stop filming and
reschedule to make sure
the equipment was not
damaged.
Someone being injured
by misuse of equipment:
e.g. tripod, umbrella etc
Only allow people
trained with specialist
equipment to use it and
keep equipment that is
not being used kept out
of the way.
If someone were injured
I would assess the injury
and seek medical
assistance if needed.

Potential Risk Precaution Emergency
Tripping over items. Make sure everything is
moved away from the
space in which I plan to
shoot.
If someone fell, check to
see if they are injured
and seek medical
assistance if needed.
Breaking items. Make sure everything not
needed in the shot is
moved away from the
shooting space.
Replace anything that
may have been broken.
Woods
Potential Risk Precaution Emergency
Tripping over branches
and uneven ground
whilst filming action
shots.
Move as much as
possible out of the way of
the path the actors will
be running.
Check to see if the actor
is injured and seek
medical assistance if
needed.
Falling branches. Get scenes shot as
quickly as possible and
do not touch any trees if
it is not needed.
If a branch was to fall I
would check the actors
are okay and if not I
would call emergency
services for medical
attention.
Wild animals. Stay fairly close to a
public footpath to seek
help if needed and if I
come across a wild
animal do not disturb it
and move away from it.
Any animals we
encounter are unlikely to
be life threatening but if
a cast member was
injured by one I would
call a first aider.
College buildings
Potential Risk Precaution Emergency
Other people may
obstruct shooting area.
Try to film at times when
there are going to be less
people walking around.
Reshoot the scene if
someone gets in it. If
someone were to be
injured on our
equipment I would check
they are okay and if they
need medical attention.
Tables and chairs in the
canteen may obstruct the
actor and cause them to
be injured.
Move these out of the
way when not being used
and be aware of them
when they are.
If someone were to get
injured on a table or
chair I would check they
are okay and seek
medical attention if
needed.
