Parents and those exercising parental authority have the following rights and duties towards their unemancipated children according to the Family Code of the Philippines: to keep children in their company and support, educate, and instruct them through good example and precept; to give children love, affection, advice, and companionship; and to provide moral and spiritual guidance while stimulating civic duties and integrity. Parents are also tasked to supply good educational materials, supervise activities and associations, protect from bad influences, and prevent detrimental habits.
