The student risk assessment identifies hazards students may face while filming in Solihull Town Centre. Potential hazards include tripping over wires or equipment. Without controls, the worst possible outcome is a major injury. Existing controls include securing wires and keeping equipment out of walkways. Additional planned controls are sectioning off an area for filming and fully charging equipment beforehand to avoid live plug sockets. These measures aim to reduce the probability of an accident.

-Boots make sure that there are no
wires down aisles in the shop so
people do not trip over them. They
are built into the frame work or
hung against walls to prevent
accidents.
-Boots keeps things like tools and
other necessities out of the way of
where people of the public walk
around in the shop.
-Things that have a live current
involved like charging stations and
cameras are kept well out of the
way of the publics reach such as
CCTV cameras are arranged high
up on the ceiling so no one can
touch them as they are plugged in.
-I will make sure that if there
are any wires being used when
in the process of filming vox
pops, they are not to be within
walkways of where people will
be going or I will hold the
excess wire so it is not lying
around on the floor.
-We will section off a corner in
the shop to make sure that we
can make people aware of our
equipment and the precautions
to take. Other people not
involved will not be near us to
trip over any equipment.
-Equipment will be charged up
ready for when we go to
Solihull to film, therefore we
do not have to use live plug
sockets to charge them.
Cameras will be placed on
tripods and not moved so no
accidents occur.
