This document summarizes the use of a modified TIPS methodology to change men's supportive roles during a woman's pregnancy, delivery, and post-partum care. It involves 5 steps: 1) gathering information on existing knowledge and barriers, 2) analyzing the information and developing counseling strategies, 3) negotiating trial practices with men, 4) following up to gather results and reactions, 5) making recommendations for the program. The results showed that men were most successful adopting practices during pregnancy and post-partum care, and least successful accompanying their wives to health facilities for delivery. The program recommends the changes are feasible with overcoming resistance.
