GENRE AND THEME.
Revenge is a psychological thriller that is set in the modern
world. The theme within Revenge include mind games and
extreme behaviour towards the protagonist. Revenge
explores the theme of mental and psychological abuse as it
depicts a female protagonist who is targeted by her
boyfriend
AUDIENCE
• The idea of Revenge was inspired from many popular TV shows, and
movies that todays young adults and teenagers watch. For example,
Pretty Little Liars which is an American teen drama, which includes
mind games and contributes to the aspects of thriller. Pretty Little
Liars is very popular on Netflix with 5 star ratings and its one of the
most watched series. Our group was inspired by Pretty Little Liars as
its mysterious, and keeps the audience on the edge with its theme of
secretary which links to our idea of revenge. Therefore, looking at
Pretty Little Liars and its popularity (3.3 million people watched one
season of the series) our group picked out the best themes from it and
included it in our own opening scene as we believe it would be
effective as it was in Pretty Little Liars.
• The age group Revenge is aimed at 16-30 year olds.
