Accountable for the ongoing daily management of all human resource activates for a business unit of approximately
225 FTEs within the organization. Troubleshoot day-to-day operational challenges that involve staff, workflow and
processes. Work with individuals and teams to resolve and remove barriers. Implement and deliver special projects
designed to develop and improve the department, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction. Develop and
evaluate current departmental training initiatives and selected divisional activities. Lead and monitor departmental
performance improvement projects, coach and develop new project leaders. Identify opportunities to build upon
existing projects and design new programs. Collaborate with departmental and divisional leaders to develop effective
project plans that identify key issues, challenges, approaches, performance metrics and resources. Create work plans,
which include schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and budget and status reports. Establish procedures for
implementation of project deliverables. Coordinate and communicate the maintenance and update of program
policies and procedures.
• Developed employee opinion survey action plan designed to improve staff engagement, retention, and work
climate. Improved scores by 20 percentage points between the 2010 and 2014 surveys.
• Implemented customer survey action plan which produced an improvement in overall satisfaction score of 10
percentage points between the 2013 and 2014 surveys.
• Created an apprentice program and a separate employee development program designed to establish a career
path for hourly employees.
• Partnered with Human Resources to create the department’s first per diem program designed to enhance
customer satisfaction and reduce overtime.
• In collaboration with Human Resources and Training and Alumni Affairs, established a partnership with Houston
Community College’s VAST program to develop the Institution’s first internship for special needs individuals.
• Developed and implemented departmental buddy mentorship program for new hourly employees and managers
and promoted Institutional formal mentoring programs.
• Served as panelist for Institution-wide Mentoring Day in 2013 and 2015.
• Member of Clinical Support Services Quality Texas application and Strategic Planning teams.
Smart City Networks, Las Vegas, Nevada 1994 – 2004

Managed all aspects of delivering voice and data communications, electrical and plumbing services to convention
center administration (city government), show management, and exhibitors at convention centers nationwide.
• Spearheaded simultaneous data retrofit project, cabling and re-cabling of the convention center construction
and expansion, and installation and implementation of Wi-Fi at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
Managed labor, oversaw budget, procured all materials for this multi-million dollar project. Enhanced company’s
MWBE/HUB purchasing program in conjunction with these and other projects.
• Instrumental in voice and data startup projects at Reliant Park, Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center,
Charlotte Convention Center, and the new Washington, DC Convention Center.
• Coordinated with White House Communications to provide communications services for visits of Presidents
George Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush; Vice Presidents Al Gore and Dick Cheney.
