Building an Open Source iOS app: lessons learned
Dec 12, 2016, Hacker Dojo (Santa Clara), 6pm
In this talk I'm going to talk about lessons learned from building Sensorama (http://www.sensorama.org), an Open Source sensor platform for data science. The main theme of the talk will be Open Source: what is great about it, what is bad and how you must become a part of the Open Source community to really move quickly and benefit from it. For this project, I did both the code and the design, so you'll have a chance to see how solo-developer deals with time/feature constraints, which tools I've used and what my approach towards development in this mode is. In other words: I'll tell you what I did to stay sane. If the iOS development were a walk in a dark city park, this talk may turn out to be your flashlight. NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN CONDENSING HEAT EXCHANGERS...ssuser7dcef0
Power plants release a large amount of water vapor into the
atmosphere through the stack. The flue gas can be a potential
source for obtaining much needed cooling water for a power
plant. If a power plant could recover and reuse a portion of this
moisture, it could reduce its total cooling water intake
requirement. One of the most practical way to recover water
from flue gas is to use a condensing heat exchanger. The power
plant could also recover latent heat due to condensation as well
as sensible heat due to lowering the flue gas exit temperature.
Additionally, harmful acids released from the stack can be
reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation. reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation.
Condensation of vapors in flue gas is a complicated
phenomenon since heat and mass transfer of water vapor and
various acids simultaneously occur in the presence of noncondensable
gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. Design of a
condenser depends on the knowledge and understanding of the
heat and mass transfer processes. A computer program for
numerical simulations of water (H2O) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4)
condensation in a flue gas condensing heat exchanger was
developed using MATLAB. Governing equations based on
mass and energy balances for the system were derived to
predict variables such as flue gas exit temperature, cooling
water outlet temperature, mole fraction and condensation rates
of water and sulfuric acid vapors. The equations were solved
using an iterative solution technique with calculations of heat
and mass transfer coefficients and physical properties.
Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

Harnessing WebAssembly for Real-time Stateless Streaming PipelinesChristina Lin
Traditionally, dealing with real-time data pipelines has involved significant overhead, even for straightforward tasks like data transformation or masking. However, in this talk, we’ll venture into the dynamic realm of WebAssembly (WASM) and discover how it can revolutionize the creation of stateless streaming pipelines within a Kafka (Redpanda) broker. These pipelines are adept at managing low-latency, high-data-volume scenarios.
Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
Water billing management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Our project entitled “Water Billing Management System” aims is to generate Water bill with all the charges and penalty. Manual system that is employed is extremely laborious and quite inadequate. It only makes the process more difficult and hard.
The aim of our project is to develop a system that is meant to partially computerize the work performed in the Water Board like generating monthly Water bill, record of consuming unit of water, store record of the customer and previous unpaid record.
We used HTML/PHP as front end and MYSQL as back end for developing our project. HTML is primarily a visual design environment. We can create a android application by designing the form and that make up the user interface. Adding android application code to the form and the objects such as buttons and text boxes on them and adding any required support code in additional modular.

Using recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) for pavements is crucial to achieving sustainability. Implementing RCA for new pavement can minimize carbon footprint, conserve natural resources, reduce harmful emissions, and lower life cycle costs. Compared to natural aggregate (NA), RCA pavement has fewer comprehensive studies and sustainability assessments.

Projects undertaken:
War field Spying robot:
My first robot! I had been dreaming of building a full pledged war field robotwhich can truly
resemble a human warrior but then later I understood it needs lot of research. So I started
my work with this robot. To be specific this is not actually a war field robot, instead what it
does is just spying the surrounding environment where it’d put inusing its camera. Itsmotion
is controlled by an android app overbluetooth.Good thing is Imade a simpler and hassle free
circuitso that in case of failure it will be easy to debug.
I retained the name “War field robot” just because it alwaysreminds me that I’ve a dream of
building that robotin future.
A voice assistant like Jarvis from Ironman movie:
It’s the Hollywoodmovie“IronMan” whichpulled me into robotics. I alwayshad that fantasy
of being like IronMan. And of course if its IronMan it’s Jarviswhois his PA. Iused the Amazon
Echowhichis a PAbuilt by Amazon Inc. Immediately I thought of building my own using the
electronics I had withme. Fortunately, I found some guidelines by Amazon Inc. itself on how
to proceed. And There I go!! I successfully ported it to Raspberry Pi. My voiceis input to the
Raspberry powered desktop through a mic attached to the Raspberry. The software
controlled desktop would then process my request and the reply over the speaker attached
to the Raspberry. It was able answer all my questions fluently and also play music and
interact with me; of course not at all par with Jarvis but it was nice experience while in
debugging softwareslike Node.Js, Javaand Linux commands.
Ultrasonic mapmaker using Arduino and MatLab:
Well this is what the name itself says. Using Arduino, breadboard, Servo motor, Ultrasonic
sensor (whichis the main culprit to detect objects) and MatLab and of course a bit of coding
the Matlab on PC showed the map of an object (physical characteristics) which is at a
maximum distance of 2m. More powerful sensors could be used for greater distance and
greater efficiency.
IOT withRaspberry Pi and Arduino:
And this was my first IOT project! although it was not a big one, howeverit was a nice try. I
used both of my most loveable embedded/electronic systems- Arduino and Raspberry. Itwas
more of playing with Pythonscript to control the LED on Arduino using Raspberry.
One more IOT that workedupon was “Webinterface for Raspberry to control
LED through web”. In this I was able to control 8 LED’s (On/Off) in connection with
Raspberry through a webinterface from anywhere.
Projects under works:
A programmable 4axis robotic arm:
This is the first mecha-electronics project I started working. The aim was to build a 4 axis
robot that can be easily controlled by programmed commands using Arduino. I wanted to
build this at very, minimum cost so I bought Writing Pad and cut into desired shape to form
hind arm and fore arm of the robotic arm, a plastic material as gripper and a light wood for
the base and servo motors for movements. I simulated the entire circuit, wrote the Arduino
3. Page 3
codeand started building the robot. But at the end unfortunately it failed. Iknew the material
pad was not a good choice yet I wanted to try. Then I thought of going for plastic or acrylic
sheet but I halted the project for time being, hope I succeed the next time I start again.
Brainwaves ControlledAutomation:
This is the most excited and wonderfulproject that I’m interested in. That means I’ve not yet
started the build because stilldoing study onit. Theaim of the projectisto use thebrainwaves
generated by our brain to control the things. Well it looks like this is the ultimate step to
become IRONMAN (My INSPIRATIONforever).Onebiggest medical advantage of this is with
this we can develop the ability of controlling our brain to avoid distress and other negative
thoughts and many more advantages it has. To sum it up as of now I’m thinking of doing 3
things with this project:
1) Control the movements of a robot
2) Control the mouse of computer
3) Control the lights in home(On/off)
Summary:
“A MECHANICAL BY DEGREE BUT ELECTRONICS BY PASSION”
Theabovelinebest describesmebecausethat’swhat I’m.
I’vealwaysbeenpassionateaboutrobotics.
I loveto playwith Arduino andRaspberryPI.
I shouldsaythis “Googleismybestfriend”.
