This document provides lesson plans and activities for teaching students about the meaning of respect. It includes definitions of respect, questions to prompt discussion and reflection, and writing prompts for students to explain why they or others deserve respect and to brainstorm ways to show respect in the classroom. The learning target is for students to evaluate the true meaning of respect.

• to value or regard the worth of people and
things and to treat them with consideration,
care, and concern
• Read the definition and use it to add to your
previous definition to make it more dynamic!!

• Why does Mrs. James deserve respect?

6. Class discussion
• Why is it important to be respectful in our
classroom? Groups, hallways, lunch, etc…

Under your Bell Ringer, number 1 – 6 and
write your answer to each statement

• Brainstorm a list of things you value in your
life

10. “Find out what it means to me...”
Think of a person that you respect more than
anyone else. (family member, famous person,
church leader, etc.)
• Write a letter to them telling them WHY they are
the person you respect above all else!
• Your letter should be about
a half a page.
