Research Paper On Fraternal Twins
In my opinion, twins reared in such different conditions can display some of the same traits
especially in their biological traits. In this movie (Twins, 1988), Julius and Vincent Benedict
considered as fraternal twins. Fraternal twins are formed from two different ova fertilized by two
different sperm. The fraternal twins are siblings born at the same time. Like other siblings they share
half their genes, chromosomes and also deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), (M Fish, 2010). So they
shared some of the common traits indirectly in their daily routine. Not only that, it was also
considered as nature, which is the biological traits inherited from their biological parents.
Adoption studies stated that two sets of factors that may account for differences in behaviour and
personality which is biological parents and environmental parents. So any links between the
biological parents and child that is given away is usually explained by genetics, ... Show more

The twins can also be the product of their environment. Since Julius lived in a peace and harmony
island, so he does not know about the life in the city, he totally realiable and right–minded, he was
also lack of communication skill with others since he stay on the island about thirty years without
others people instead of his biological father, this can be explained by the incidence whereby he is
shy speechless when he met a girl, Marnie in the supermarket. Besides, he was also resists to those
antisocial activities or behavior. In contrast, Vincent was more to craft and sly guys. This probably
because of nurture factor whereby he lived in a competitive city and need to compete with others in
order to survive. So Vincent was a big mouth and glib tongue guys, especially to her girlfriend. Not
only that, he also involved in gambling for him to get more financial

Hurdles And Law Restrictions: The Need For International...
According to Merriam–Webster's collegiate dictionary (1993), the term adoption refers to "legally
take another person's child into your own family and take care of him or her as your own child". But
in a simpler way to describe adoption is by saying "Adoption is a wonderful family building
option". With a great array of reasons why people adopt, one those reason that deserves a special
mention is "infertility". The inability to have a biological child is the most powerful reason to adopt
nowadays. Despite adoption being an act of love, international adoption is one of the challenges in
the modern world. Hurdles and Law restrictions make it harder for families who are willing to do so
but don't fill society expectations. When a single person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is true that the cost for a family to adopt an international child is extremely expensive. Nowadays,
the couple who decide start the adoption process is responsible for all the administrative and legal
cost, as well as training and adoption preparation, home study, translation, notarization, travel to the
country where the child is, medical expenses and all of this usually involve taxes. According to
American's Adoptions Agency (2017), "the cost to adopt is around $50,000". One alternative to
solve the higher prices is subsidizing some requirements for governments. For instance, the
countries where the couple and the child are living could have a department in charge of the whole
administrative process because this process required more effort between countries. Also, to have
many ways to pay for an adoption such as credits where the amount is divided into periods. Thus, if
governments invest in the adopt process more couples would be interested to know more about the

Preparing Your Family for an Orphanage Visit: Is Your Child Ready? C h e c klis t A d vic e f r o m
T h e r a pis t s a n d E x p e rie n c e d P a r e n t s
By Jean MacLeod
An orphanage visit can be a beneficial event for an adoptee, providing a link to personal history and
a grounded understanding of her life circumstances. It can also be an unpleasant, or even
traumatizing experience, filled with anxiety and shock over what abandonment and
institutionalization really mean.
As Jane Liedtke stressed in P r e p a rin g f o r a H o m ela n d Visit , an orphanage visit should be
planned, based on a child's individual emotional and cognitive readiness. A child who is ready for
enjoying the culture of her birth country may not be ready ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

interpret what she's hearing and seeing, and to express her own thoughts.
Prepare your child for encounters with special needs children. Talk about disabilities that keep a
child in an orphanage, or medical conditions that might require an infant to have an IV, be on
oxygen or recovering from surgery. Some babies might be in incubators.
Orphanage smells or sounds can be powerful triggers to pre–verbal memories. Chinese music may
be a positive trigger, while hearing crying babies could cause some children to shut down. De–
sensitize by talking about what you may see, hear and smell at the orphanage in advance of your
trip.
Discuss the obvious fact with your daughter that in China she will be surrounded daily by other
Chinese people; for a change she will be in the majority! Your child may enjoy this, or find this
unnerving and fear getting lost in the crowd.
After you, your adoption agency or your adoption travel agency has made an appointment for you
with the Director of your child's orphanage, be sure to follow up by mailing the Director a letter of
introduction (in Chinese) and current photos of your family. If

Boleking And Poverty In India
India is home to over 1.2 billion people with 4 percent of the population being orphans.
India is overloaded with orphans and statistics show that the problem is not going to be getting any
better anytime soon. There are many factors that contribute to the reasoning behind the amount of
orphans, like poverty and some kids being forced into sex trafficking and prostitution.
There are over 20 million orphans in in India because the country is very poor, some families simply
can't support a child so they abandoned them, and some children are unfortunately forced into sex
trafficking. There are many reasons that India alone has 20 million orphans in their country but by
far the most dominant factor is poverty. Around 67 percent of India's population lives below the
poverty line (10 Facts about Poverty in India). Parents simply cannot afford to provide for
themselves or for their children. Many children lack basic life necessities like nutrition, shelter, and
care from their parents, not because their parents don't love them, but because most of the time
parents cannot afford anything. (5 terrible causes of the Orphan Crisis). 46 percent of children under
the age of 5 are malnourished. 31 percent of infants are born with low birth–weight. All children in
India are underweight by 18 percent or more (Facts on Children in India). Theses truly statistics
show how badly the country is suffering, and even worse how the children are suffering. Although

The Current State on Russian Orphans Essay
Every year approximately one thousand Russian orphans are adopted by American couples. As of
early 2012, President Vladmir Putin has called for a ban on all Americans adopting Russian
children. Due to intense relations between America and Russia and the increasing death and illness
rate of Russian children living in America, Russian officials have ceased adoption by American
couples. By denying access to Russian orphans, the government is bound to cause an increase in
children with mental disease and possibly prevent these children from prospering for their future.
In 2008 the first incident of an adopted Russians death occurred. Dima Yakovlev, or otherwise
known as Chase Harrison passed after his father had accidentally left him in the ... Show more

Along with the neglect that is pressed upon the children, the abuse rates in these homes are very
high. Many reports of abuse and even death have been brought to the media's attention over the past
few years. One popular case was of two nurses that came home to the orphanage after a night of
drinking to crying little ones. In an attempt to muffle the sounds of the cries the two women stuffed
one child into a tub with a blanket over him. The other ones were stuffed in covers and put into a
closet. It was not until the next morning when the next crew came in that the three children were
found. Two had severe injuries afterward and one child, the youngest died.
Because of harsh relationships between Russia and many other countries the Russian government
has put a ban on all adoptions by many other countries. Due to the use of children as a political tool,
many ethical and moral values and rights are being broken by Russian officials. Not only is this
immoral to couples who wish to adopt these children but to the children themselves as well. By
preventing foreign couples from adopting these children, the Russian government is holding back
the orphans from a better life. The homes that they are kept in while living in Russia are poorly
equipped and the children then suffer from mental and physical illnesses as a result of the
orphanages.

Orphanages In The 1900s Research Paper
Orphanages in the 1900s
Orphanages back then were defined as kids without parents. A lot of the kids with single parents
were neglected. The orphans felt sad because they think about their parents. The kids were
abandoned or their homes were over crowded. Some kids were left on their own. The Orphanages
conditions were horrible. The kids would live in a life of crime because of it. Boys were taught a
trade and the girls were brought up to do domestic work. Some orphans were treated bad or was
neglected by the families that adopted them because they were in a higher social class. Thesis –

The orphans are sad because they have to live with a family that they don't know.'' ''I lie to myself
thinking that my family will come back''. It means that they have hope in their parents to find them.
Somewhere I will find my parents and never let them go. If the kids ever find their parents they
don't want them to leave again.
''Orphanages are the only place that left me empty and full at the same time''. It left them full
because they weren't the only ones left by their parents. It made them feel full because some adults
were around to help and there were some nice kids.
''Some orphans have hope, some have strength.''Orphans have faith that that they will be adopted.
Some have the strength to say that they will someday have a new family. Orphans are waiting. They

Adoption Report
When I finally learned about my heritage, I was ten. My mother and I were standing in the bank
vault, and she was getting some papers for a trip to Canada, to update all of our passports. While
Mom was sorting through the papers and jewelry in our lock box, I joined her. One particular,
colorful document caught my eye, so I drew it from the lockbox and held it up to her, asking what it
was. After looked at what I was talking about, she explained that it is my birth certificate. The
writing was strange, definitely not English, so this couldn't possibly be my birth certificate. Mom
gathered all of the passports, my birth certificate, and we went home. I couldn't stop asking her
questions about what all of the words meant, until she finally told me. That day, I learned of my
adoption. The adoption story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such as, why was I supposed to be on the registry for 10 months, instead of six months, or even a
year? Why did they offer us up to Russians first, instead of just putting us out on the registry? Why
couldn't my family look at the registry? Why did my parents feel the need to bribe the judge?
As I asked questions, I learned that the reason they offered us up to Russians first was that they
considered children, orphans, as the perfect building blocks of Soviet citizenships. There was no
family to corrupt us and we lived under the care of the State. Now, why a Russian family didn't take
me was they did not have much money to adopt children. Adoption of Russian babies could cost up
to $50,000. My adoption cost about $15,000. The small amount is due to my mental disability.
Viewed as "incompetent" by Russians, I was more likely to extend out to a global adoption. I was a
"clearance baby".
The reason children are supposed to be on the registry for 10 months is so eligible Russian couples,
who are looking to adopt, can have their pick, instead of having all of the "decent" children snatched

The Heart-warming Tale of Girls and Boys Town
Girls & Boys Town is different!
The story of Girls and Boys Town is one of the most heart–warming tales of human effort of the
20th Century. It is a tale of faith, courage and sympathy – one that enchanted the imagination of the
world and changed the way South Africa cares for challenged youth.
Founded by the late Bishop Reginald Orsmond in 1958 and based on the principles of Father
Flanagan's famous Girls & Boys Town in Nebraska, USA, Girls & Boys Town has granted
thousands of children of all races, genders, faith and languages a new beginning.
Most of them arrive here with broken dreams, sick at heart and in body too. Some have been
physically or sexually abused, forgotten or abandoned. Some come from broken homes, do badly at
school, have discipline issues, and lack social skills.
What makes them different ?
Girls and Boys Town is under the guidance of adults, the kids actually govern themselves, electing
their Mayor, Councillors and Managers who make the rules and see that they are kept. This
capitalises on the teenage desire to be admired and respected by their peers.
Our eight registered Children's Homes – four large Youth Development Centres and four community
'family' homes – offer residential care to children whose own families cannot cope and who don't do
well in foster care.
What are their objectives?
Girls and Boys Town, South Africa delivers national services that:
Take into consideration the needs of adolescents and adolescents home environments

Descriptive Essay
Have you ever felt oddly out of place somewhere that should be more, familiar? I've never felt more
alien then on my third trip to China visiting the Hunan province in a little town called Chengdu.
This little town was my origins. Like much of China it had become more urbanized and like much
of China it was unrecognizable to me. Seventeen years and six months ago I was adopted by Colleen
Colbert, and Joel Carreiro from an orphanage in a little town called Chengdu.
As I walked up to the building it was a large well built building with electricity, functioning toilettes
and playgrounds. I soon learned this was my orphanage 2.0, they rebuilt a larger and better
accommodated building for the growing number of kids in search for a different kind of family. The
building that I slept and played in was not in use and near rice fields where water buffalo roamed
nearby. It was a medium, shoebox shaped building, brown from time and rust. I wanted a port key to
take me someplace familiar, even the hotel room felt more homely. And yet I walked along my old
grounds with my mom and was told how I lived as a baby and who I was before I could remember.
It was strange to hear about my life in someone else's perspective and for the first time. My adopted
mom and dad couldn't tell me who I was for the first 18 months of my life as they were thousands of
miles away and hadn't known me apart from a cute 4 by 4 picture of a very smiley yet chubby
Chinese baby.
As I endured the sweltering heat

The Long Standing Effects On Children
There are about three hundred million children that are subjected to violence, exploitation and abuse
in orphanages (Kovacs Np.) Orphanages are supposed to be a haven for children to escape previous
problems, but instead these institutions are homes of nightmares for children. For example, many
children placed in orphanages are there to escape the abuse of families and loved ones, only to
experience more abuse at the hands of the orphanage caregivers. In the United States, at least one–
third of children admitted to infant orphanages younger than 12 months of age died, primarily of
gastrointestinal and respiratory illness, often complicated by malnutrition (Humphreyes 625–634).
This is not a problem in America, there are thousands of cases like this in countries such as China,
Russia, Romania, and Africa, these countries are prohibiting children their happiness. Children have
all the odds against them. They are being abused and neglected. Many of them do not even get
adopted. Furthermore, there have been studies that show the long–standing effects of orphans in
institutions after adoption. These institutions prevent child growth and development, most are
inadequate for raising children, many children develop mental illnesses, and they do not give
children the education they need to survive. For one thing, these institutions prevent child growth as
well as development. Children adopted from China were smaller physically and were behind peers
in development. They did not

Level 2 Childrens Care and Education Unit 5
Unit 5: Communication and professional skills within child care and education
D1:There are many aspects in relation to professional practice. Four areas of professional practice
are: Attitudes to work Time keeping and attendance Awareness of children's development
Understanding children's behaviour
D2: It is important when working within a childcare setting that your timekeeping and attendance is
up to scratch, punctuality is key because within this type of setting as a practitioner you have a
multitude of responsibilities to carry out in order to help the child to thrive and develop. In addition
to this it is also mandatory to have good punctuality because many people will be relying on you

Understanding a child's behaviour is keybecause they are unable to understand the reasons why they
behave the way they do, but if a practitioner is able to understand their behaviour they can strive to
overcome any issues which are contributing to the behaviour which is being shown. In addition to
this by understanding the behaviour and trying to deciefer the reasons behind it as a practitioner you
are helping them to avoid carrying the behaviour related issues into future life.
D3–I have made sure throughout my time at work placement that I have been punctual and aware of
my time keeping, this has been shown through my log book which has to be signed every day that I
have been present (See appendix 1), In addition to this I have also had my final report passed, one of
the criteria within this report is that I must show professional standards of time keeping, I passed
this part of my report. (See appendix 2 highlighted pink). Whilst attending my work placement I
have made sure that not only my timekeeping is up to a proficient standard but also that my attitude
towards my work is that of a professional practitioner. I am able to distinguish an improvement in
relation to my work attitude because on my final report one of the criteria states 'Demonstrates
positive and consistent attitudes and behaviour which shows commitment to the welfare of the child

Thesis About Street Children
I. Introduction
Everyone deserves to have a home that they can live, a sufficient food and things that makes them
contented although other are not comfortable to their life. Street children are those who are seen in
the street and under the bridges. Orphanage is one of the best places for the street children to live. In
this institution they will guided and they will take care by the officials. Some parents are not
responsible to handle such things because of the way they live. Because of the poverty a lot of
parents are force to abandon their children. And the children are needed to work for their daily
needs.
II. PROBLEM STATEMENT
We can see a lot of children sleeping in the street. We have many orphanages here in the Philippines
but the majority of this is occupied of street children. Due to the poverty and parent's lack of interest
in taking good care of their children many are seen by the roads, under the bridges and those chasing
cars to ask for alms. Some are out of school others are driven in pushing and using drugs. These
reasons are some of the causes why some children are involved with gambling and robbery. Early
pregnancy is also one of the reasons why street children are mounting. ... Show more content on

Relationship Between The Crc And The Optional Protocol
1. The relationship between the CRC and the Optional Protocol is supplemental, being that the CRC
is the binding/ruling international law on children's rights and the Optional Protocol expounds and
expands upon issues that the CRC did not address sufficiently. The Optional Protocol is a separate
convention that expands on three issues: armed conflict, sale of children, and communication. States
that choose to ratify the Optional Protocol, do so by the same methods as the CRC, thus superseding
the CRC provision on that issue. Under the CRC, article 28, age fifteen was the only age that could
be agreed upon for children to participate in armed conflict, therefore, that is the minimum age;
however, the Optional Protocol convention stated that age fifteen was too low and decided that age
eighteen should be the minimum for participation in armed conflict. The Optional Protocol on the
sale of children expands on the CRC's stance on the exploitation of children. The Optional Protocol
made specific provisions on the sale of children in the sexual context such as prostitution and
pornography. It outlines the measures that States should take in protecting children rom sexual
exploitation. The Optional Protocol on communication is fairly new and it recognizes children's
rights to bring grievances on the violation of their rights to the committee. It also outlines ways that
States and governments can help children submit their claims. 2a. Haiti reported that street children

Laura's childhood home, a haunted orphanage. Laura and her family move into the orphanage in

Simon befriends an imaginary boy named Tomas and five other ghost children within the house. But

The arguments over Simon's disappearance begin, and Laura's unwillingness to give up the search

disestablishment and, "if that sense of unmaking is sudden and seems personal – it hits you around
the heart – then it lodges in the memory as a complete set" (King 22). This personal unmaking is
what hits on the "phobic pressure points" for many people, including the loss of a child and being
haunted ( King 18). A phobic pressure point as King best describes it is a primal instinctual fear that
is widespread and works on a personal level. The loss of a child can be best described as a primal
instinctual fear, causing an immediate reaction from the mother when her child is lost. The mother
feels terror, fear, and panic over this loss that will supply the feelings of disestablishment and
disintegration. This fear connects the audience to Laura's character, since it is widespread fear and

Orphanages In The 1800s
Attachment is vital to development. John Bowlby (1988) states, " Study after study attest that
healthy, happy, and self reliant adolescents ad young adults are the products of stable homes in
which both parents give a great deal of time and attention to children" (p.2). This statement has
powerful implication for children and infants without parents who spend most, if not all of their
young life in orphanages; more specifically orphanages where attention is minimal. In 1729 the first
orphanage was established in the United States. In the 1800's orphanages grew and in the mid 1800's
charitable groups established 56 institutions for children (Bremner, 1970, p. 5). Downs (1983)

Even in places where the minority population is small the amount of children removed from their
families was still large, in fact about three times as high as their proportion in the general
population. "Bremner (1974) states, "Although the rate of child welfare services to Negro children
was higher...behavioral and emotional problems were reported for a considerably smaller proportion
of Negro children... This raised the question for some professionals that whether placement of
minority–group children is precipitated by poverty and lack of supportive resources, rather than
disruptive family relationships or perceived habits of the child" (p. 8). The removal rate of Native
American children was high as well. Like African American children there were obvious overlaps
between removal from the home and poverty. As well during that time most social workers were
Caucasian and tended to have different cultural standards in terms of family life therefore creating
convolution. Like the circumstances of Native American children being taken from their home in the
turn of the century, Native American children, when taken from their home often lost their culture

Essay On Orphanage
Greatness found in an Orphanage My life before visiting an orphanage, I used to complain a single

easily. Besides, I used to look down on people whose standards are unlike me. Basically I was being
cocky and was lost for fulfilling my endless desires. Thinking about my past, I was the one who
making myself to miss a happiness and forget what is really important to me in my life. One day, I
had a chance to visit a nearby orphanage which was organized by my school. Firstly I had felt
boring as this trip would be an unexciting trip. Frankly, I had thought that the people there would
think or act same like me but they just don't have parents. After we had prepared and packed our
donation items, the bus started to drive. It took 1 hour to get reached and finally the orphanage
appeared. It was placed in a rural area. When I entered the orphanage, there were around sixty to
seventy children standing there looking at me as well as my friends marvelously, excitingly yet

Should LBTG Adoption Be Allowed? Essay
Hello there, my project is on adoption. Should it be allowed or should it not be allowed that is the
question. I think that adoption should be allowed because it gives orphans a chance to feel what it is
like to be in a loving family, it gives parents that are either sterile or barren to have children of their
own, and it gives many people a great chance to be in the type of family that many people are so
happily in. Maybe someone that you know might be adopted; maybe you were adopted, now just
think if adoption was illegal. Many people feel like it should be illegal. So allow me to announce my

The first reason is that they are sterile. Being sterile is a thing that can happen to women, men, or

The last reason that most adults are not able to have children is just because of the age, although

Essay on Adoption as an Option for Infertile Women
Imagine getting married to the love of your life, knowing from the day that you first laid eyes on
him that he was the one that was going to father the children that you would have in the coming
years. Three months after having the wedding of your dreams, you find out you are pregnant after
two years of trying to conceive and you could not be happier. Celebrating with friends and family
eager to share with them the good news that you were expecting a miracle after almost giving up,
you are jubilant. After trying for so long and succeeding? (I don't know what word I want to put

Some of the underlying issues with fertility treatments are that some couples have to repeat the
whole process of treatments two to three times before the treatment works. Many times, couples are
left having to spend tens of thousands of dollars. The outcome from in vitro fertilization varies from
couple to couple. A big concern for the sergeant mother is that it can sometimes cost more than an
adoption. Having another woman carry your baby is stressful, you don't know the life they live
behind closed doors, or what they are putting into their body, it is hard to determine if your baby is
out of harms way. And, when looking into adoption the biggest question is to choose International or
Domestic. Whether you are adopting a child internationally or domestically you are doing the best
thing anyone could do by offering a child a place to call home. When adopting internationally rather
than domestically you have given a child the opportunity to experience freedom in the United States,
where they will be able to experience the beauty that life has to offer. In many other countries
children are left with inadequate water, no food, and no shelter. These orphans suffer daily going
without food, which are clothed with dirty clothes, some do not receive the love and affection that is
needed to grow strong and healthy,

The Importance Of My Life
Have you ever wondered where your life could be right now? What circumstances might have
changed the path your life took? What different people might have been in your life because of the
different path? These are questions that strike me occasionally. The main reason for this is because
my life could have turned out quite differently. I am Chinese and was left at an orphanage when I
was just a few days old, but was adopted when I was 14 months old. The life I have now is
excellent, but sometimes I do wonder what my life would be like now if I had not been adopted.
Now that I am nearly at adult age, what responsibilities would I have been expected to take care of?

Another option I think I would have had, is perhaps working around the city of Nanping. The city of
Nanping is built on the Min River, so not only would there be jobs within the city I could probably
find, there would have also been jobs that would be on the river that I could have been hired for.
Various fish live in the river and I believe that some of them are caught to be sold within the local
markets and perhaps even commercially. Nanping is also somewhat of a train station hub in China.
There are three different railways going out of Nanping, so I would think I could have bought a train
ticket for perhaps Fuzhou, which is a larger city in China, and looked for more work there or to
some of the surrounding villages and worked on some of the local farms. While this is all after I
would be out of the orphanage, I do think about how my childhood would have been different too. I
have grown up as an only child, but being in the orphanage I would have been surrounded by
perhaps hundreds of other kids as well as many adults. When the children are babies, I believe the
nannies take them in their houses and take care of them there. When they are older they are then
taken back to the orphanage and stay there until they are either adopted or age out. Albeit this is
essentially how my life has been, mostly me being in an orphanage, I have also mused over how my
life would have been if I had not been put up for adoption.

Persuasive Essay On Adoption
Adoption is an extensive process where a family takes in a child as one of their own. To adopt a
child, there are many requirements to make sure a couple is a good fit to adopt a child. Some of the
requirements to obtain a child are being over twenty–one, complete an application, give information
about your lifestyle and background, show proof of your marriage or divorce, (if applicable), and
many more.
There are multiple types of adoptions. These include agency adoptions, independently,
internationally, and adoption as same sex parents. These are not the only types of adoptions. There
are more just these that are the most common. The first one is adoption through an agency, agencies
typically handle kids who have been abandoned, orphans, or abused. To adopt a child through them
you must prove you have what it takes to be a parent and are ready to be one. The next is adopting
independently, adoption independently is when the birth parents meet with the adoptive parents. Not
all states will allow this and most of the time the states will regulate these very extensively.
Another type of adoption is internationally adopting a child, this is by far the most complicated of
all the types. The adoptive parents have to obey the laws of both countries and then obtain an
immigration Visa to see if the child can become a citizen of the United States. If the child has gained
citizenship and the parents are fit to be parents, they can adopt the child. Finally, same sex adoption

Predestination And The Movie ' Predestination '
Predestination
The movie Predestination has presented many great examples of different psychological cases. In
the movie the plot of the story is that a bomber has killed many people and the main character has to
go back in time to stop him. The aftereffects of going back in time multiple occasions is what may
be a leading factor as to what each characters unique disorder may be, but the tiny details on the side
is what reveals the bigger issue. The main characters are easy to breakdown and it 's obvious as to
what each ones disorders are.The background of this character is directly unique to the movie as the
main story of the movie is what causes him to develop all of his problems. The movie itself is a
paradox and requires a lot of thought even after seeing it from a third person point of view so the
characters themself face a harder grasp on the reality of what 's happening to them.
The movie has three major characters that are unique to themselves and each other. The characters
are all different to each other in many ways such as age, appearances, and even personalities yet
they are crucial to each other at the end of the movie. The first character is a middle aged man
named John, the second character is a younger woman named Jane, and the last character is an older
man whose name is also John. The middle aged man, John, is the time traveling agent mentioned
before whereas the older man named John is the fizzle bomber. The younger woman, Jane, works as

My First Year Of My Life
For years, I convinced myself that the story of my life began when I arrived in America at eleven

impossible it was to completely discard the first year of my infancy. While I had always known
about being adopted from China, I did not fully comprehend the weight of this detail until my late
teenage years. I grew up in a loving and somewhat sheltered environment. My parents made my
adoption seem like a grand fairytale, and they were my happy ending. To them, adoption made me
more special than the average kid, causing me to never think twice about my beginnings. I was the

In the midst of my clarifying Farm Fresh experience, I took a public speaking class at Regent
University. I had to give an informative speech on a current issue for my final assignment. To this
day, I still have no idea why, but I chose to talk about China's One Child Policy. I conducted intense
research on the topic, and I fell into a depression during that time. So many abortions–voluntary and
forced, early and late term. So much abandonment. As I read an article about all of China's
abandoned and orphaned children, I, for the first time in my life, wholly came to terms with the fact
that I had been one of those abandoned infants. I had been an almost victim of this cruel, unjust
policy. When I presented, I used my own story to open and close my speech. I addressed myself by
my middle name–my Chinese name, the name they called me in the orphanage. "This is Louzhi," I
somberly declared. "She was abandoned and placed in an orphanage as a small child, and she is one
of the millions of babies who are affected by China's One Child Policy." I discussed the policy's
history and how the only hope for abandoned Chinese babies was adoption. Throughout that ten–
minute speech, I felt like an ambassador for Louzhi. Part of me was this Chinese baby, but an even
larger part of me, the part that had no memory of my infancy, was simply Lili. I finally became Lili
Louzhi as I ended my presentation. "Remember Louzhi? That was me.... I was

1.1.i.c. Other acts of abandonment occur when:
Children cannot live up to the expectations of their parents. These expectations are often impractical
and not apt per the age .
Children are held responsible for other people's behaviour. They may be consistently blamed for the
actions and feelings of their parents.
Disapproval toward children is aimed at their entire beings or identity rather than a particular

Speech On Abandoned Children
There are many reasons for the large number of abandoned children in India. The children can be
unwanted (mostly girls), illegitimate or orphans due to diseases. The children have to be taken care
of one way or the other. Orphan children are the deprived and the isolated population deserving
special attention to become healthy and responsible children, physically fit, mentally alert and
morally healthy endowed with the skills and the motivation needed by society. UNICEF and global
partners define an orphan as a child who has lost one or both parents. An estimated 31 million
children in India, aged 0–17 years, are orphaned and abandoned according to the most recent
statistics from UNICEF.
Proper family environment plays an important role in the life of children. Nobody can deny the
important role of parents in developing balanced and harmonious development of personality. But
unfortunately cruel fortune deprives some children of the sympathetic affectionate parental care.
These children are known as orphaned children. An orphan is a child permanently bereaved of his or
her parents. In common usages, an orphan does not have any surviving parent to care for him or her.
Because of parental deprivation some children are reared in destitute homes and in orphanages. This
group of children is termed as institutionalised orphan children. These ... Show more content on

the one child policy. This meant that Chinese mothers could only have one child. Any additional

mother to abandon her child. This meant that if mothers wanted to provide their child a safe and
secure future, they often chose to leave the baby during the night either at or close to a children's
orphanage. In my case it was reported that my mother left me in blue clothes, wrapped in a nice
blanket, and tucked me into a box. The box was placed at an open air market across street from the

Effects Of Deprivation And Privation Of A Maternal...
This essay will look at research into the effects of deprivation and privation of a maternal
attachment on orphans in both Romania and around the world. Attachment is the emotional tie to a
parent that an infant experiences, giving the child security. It develops gradually to the primary care
giver and is important for survival (Boyd & Bee, 2009). In some cases children may experience a
disruption of this attachment which is known as deprivation (Key Book Ref).
Bowlby's (1965) maternal deprivation hypothesis states it is essential for the mental health of an
infant and young child to experience a warm, intimate and continuous relationship with the mother.
If a child is deprived of its mother, or any consistent caregiver, between 6 months and 5 years,
known as the critical period, then this would lead to serious cognitive, emotional and social
difficulties later in life. Bowlby's 44 Thieves Study (1944) supports the maternal deprivation thesis.
It found that 32% of thieves were diagnosed as affectionless psychopaths with the majority
experiencing separation for at least a week before the age of 5, illustrating that maternal deprivation
can seriously disrupt healthy emotional development. Although, Rutter (1999) refute this and
established that separation associated with illness was not associated with delinquency, but if
separation was associated with stress, children were four times as likely to become delinquent,
suggesting that Bowlby's thieves had probably suffered from

Even in places where the minority population is small the amount of children removed from their
families was still large, in fact about three times as high as their proportion in the general

was higher...behavioral and emotional problems were reported for a considerably smaller proportion
of Negro children...

Argumentative Essay About Gay Adoption
Corri Fairfull
Discursive Essay–Gay Adoption
Gay adoption is a subject which is widely debated. However over recent years gay adoption has
allowed for most gay couples who want to adopt young children and give them a good quality of
life, which they would have if they lived with their biological parents or a heterosexual couple, to do
so.
One positive view of gay adoption is that it gives the gay couple the chance to start their own family
and give a child in care a new start to life in a loving home. This will allow the couple to love and
care for the child just as much as they would if the child was living with their own biological
parents. Gay couples who want to adopt a child will give the same loving family home just like a
heterosexual couple or single parent would. For some children, living with a gay couple may be
something they haven't experienced before. However finding a family who love the child and
appreciate them for who they are, also encouraging them with all aspects of their life and supporting
them all the way through their life is what matters most to children.
Another positive view about gay adoption is that it means a child in care will receive the opportunity
to get the benefit of new parents who are going to give them the best possible life with parents who
are healthy, in a stable relationship and have a good financial support system in place. Since there
are many children up for adoption, gay couples often adopt children who are older as babies

John Keith Atkinson's Life aa a Child Laborour Essay
John Keith Atkinson was the son of former agricultural labourers James and Mary Atkinson. They
moved to Holmeside to work in Outcote Mill when their agricultural employer's farm was sold by
the landowner to another landowner to make his holdings bigger and more profitable. With their
jobs gone and their tied home lost, they followed other migrants into the town. John was an infant
when they moved. In Holmeside the Atkinson family, including five children, lived in the fusty
cellar of an already crowded house that gave rude shelter to four families besides them. Two
families occupied two upstairs bedrooms, and another two lived in a single ground floor room. The
parents of all five families and the older children worked at Staithes' mill. ... Show more content on

There, children learned through beatings, deprivation, and fear to yield to their keeper. Keepers
tormented their minds, abused their bodies, and determined every other aspect of their existence.
Like most pauper children, John grew morose and sullen. He lacked the spontaneity of normal
children, and lived in permanent dread that another tragedy might crush him. He remembered the
day he and sixty other children were ordered to make paper parcels of their belongings. Brown
paper and string were provided. With their bundles, they were packed like sardines into the back of
two horse drawn caravans and trundled over rough roads for a week before arriving at Outcote Mill.
They were bruised and in pain from their confinement, having had no room to stretch their limbs
during the journey. Jumping down from the carts at journey's end sent shafts of pain through them.
From the moment he arrived in the care of Reynold Walkden Staithes, young Atkinson was nothing

provisions of the law not being applied, the result was that appalling cruelties were routinely visited

Romanian Orphanages
Imagine a hospital that, at one time ran smoothly helping the public, now with the primary objection
of taking care of the thousands of abandoned infants and children. This is the reality in Romania
when Nicolae Ceausescu was in power. In 1966 he created an Anti–Abortion/Contraception law in
order to raise the population and achieve his ultimate goal to slowly take over surrounding areas and
increase Romania's power. The next plan of action was to open orphanages, which caused an entire
generation of mentally and physically handicapped children. Now after more than four decades, the

Ion Iliescu, former president of Romania created this law thinking that it is better for the children to
be in state run orphanages, foster homes or to be adopted domestically. One thing I'm sure he didn't
take into consideration is the fact that most abandoned children are gypsies, most Romanian's will
not adopt a gypsy child. This means that until they open adoption internationally again, many
children will not be getting the loving homes they deserve. It's a shame because there are so many
people who want to adopt from there and can give those children a better home than they could ever
imagine in Romania. When I started writing this research paper, it was just another assignment to

Adoption Of The United States Essay
Many children around the world don 't have a mother or father, or even a home. There are at least
140,000 orphans across the globe. About ten percent of all children are found working as child
laborers. One out of every eleven kids under the age of five is not in elementary school, and almost
three million children die every year from a lack of nutrition. The best way to get these children out
of these situations is to change their lives through adoption, donation, or fostering. Adoption in
different countries can be drastically different from each other. If you 're deciding to adopt from
Africa, there are certain conditions you must follow. If you want to adopt from Africa, you have to
be approved by the U.S. government. Before adopting in Ghana, you must love there for at least
three months. By doing this, the prospective parents can see what life is like in Ghana, and will help
them to better understand their future child. A waiver may be placed by the parents and passed by
the court if the child 's best interest is met through this. You must be at least twenty–one years older
than the child you wish to adopt, and at least twenty–five years old. Bottom line is, you 're best bet
is to be older in order to adopt from Africa. When couples are searching for their future child, they
must be a heterosexual couple. You can not adopt from Ghana if you are a homosexual couple.

Ok Chin Identity Swap
The question that I decided to use was "The author mentions that Ok Chin tried to tell her adoptive
parents about the switch, but the parents only spoke English, my question is why the orphanage
didn't make sure the parents and adopted child have some form of communication so things like this
won't happen?" In my opinion, I believe that the orphanage should have a better system so children
won't get switched in the process of adoption. For instance, the orphanage should have made sure
that each child was able to communicate with their new parents and vice versa. Even if the adoption
process has to take more time, this is highly needed in international baby trades. Just by making sure
the child and parents are able to communicate with each other can help stop many problems that

The parents and the child are able to get to know each other much better if the orphanage take the
time to make sure that both child and parents know how to communicate with each other. However,
as I was conducting my research, I came across an article about the film of Ok Chin's life called, In
the Matter of Cha Jung Hee. According to the article Ok Chin identity swap was purposely done.
OK Chin was told to keep secret about her identity because the real Cha Jung Hee was taken by her
father days before the adoption. Therefore, the orphanage needed another eight year old girl for the
parents. However, in my opinion all of this could have been done easily with the truth. There was no

Child Trafficking China Essay
Child Trafficking
The loss of a child or not being able to keep one is one of the worst and hardest things a person can
go through. The one child policy in China is leading to more orphans being put through the
unorganized adoption process and it results in children being sent into child trafficking. In China the
rate of children being put through adoption has increased. The increase of orphans being put into
adoption is directly related to the one child policy that was placed in China. This policy prevents
families from having more than one child because of the high population rate. With the influx of
children going in and out of the adoption agencies it affects the authenticity of the process and is
leading to children being out in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the one child law has been in place it has raised the number of orphans going in and out of the
orphanages. With the higher number of children it leads to them being not watched as carefully and
put in the hands of the wrong people. Some of the people that adopt children will them sell them to
make a profit off their organs. Many organs are used but the "kidneys make up 75% of the global
illicit trade in organs" (Denis and Davison). The kidneys are being sold because of the "rising rates
of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems" (Denis and Davison) that are occurring more
commonly in people. With the demand for organs so high currently, the adoption rate is going to
increase to try and sell children for their organs. Especially with the birth rate still increasing, the
Chinese are still having kids and sending the girls to orphanages more often than boys. The one
child policy is affecting the organ trade because families are still having kids when they are not
suppose to and it is leaving children without families in orphanages. The children without the
families are then placed in danger of getting adopted by people that are selling them for their organs.
Since some kidneys can be sold for "up to $200,000" (Denis and Davison) the demand for the organ
is increasing every day. The more organs that are sold the more

Foreclosure In The Orphanage
In the film, The Orphanage, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, the character of Laura exemplifies
individuals in society that are exposed to hardship and traumatic events, thereby searching for a true
sense of closure in order to fully resolve the problem and eventually recover and move on from the
past. To start off, towards the beginning of the film, Laura demonstrates an example of an individual
that has faced a horrific event which was left unsaid or unfinished. The dreadful idea of losing an
only child is truly indescribable, however, this is the scenario that Laura must face and move on
from. Moreover, it seems as if Laura has had no chance to say goodbye, or has no idea where/what
happened to her son, thus triggering this unfound closure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Closure truly allows an individual to gain a complete and satisfactory resolution to his/her problems,
releasing agony and allowing satisfaction and comfort. Closure is not only a sign of endurance and
faith, but also a sign of ease and tranquility from a past trauma that haunts the living daylights out of
someone. It also allows individuals to successfully move on from the dreadful past into a hopeful
future. Moreover, closure is the magic that triggers healing, it cures the past scars and wound one
experiences in their life. In a like manner, Laura was an individual that faced many hardships and
grief because of this unfound closure towards her son, Simon. Indeed Laura never fully became
satisfied with her life and her situation until she fully gained closure and an answer to what really
occurred, thereby easing her pain and allowing her to restore her faith. Likewise, I myself have gone
through a period in my life where grief and sadness of the death of my grandparents overwhelmed
my physical and emotional self being, the guilt and sadness not allowing for a full recovery.
However, when I truly seeked out closure or an answer to how I could allow myself to accept reality
and move on, then and only then did the process of healing invade my heart. Truly, hardship can
only be fought with closure, as the one who bails to find the truth, losses the opportunity to recover
fully, and lives the rest of his life in regret and gloom. Always seek out closure as it opens your heart
to acceptance and strengths is for

Research Paper On Fraternal Twins

  • 1. Research Paper On Fraternal Twins In my opinion, twins reared in such different conditions can display some of the same traits especially in their biological traits. In this movie (Twins, 1988), Julius and Vincent Benedict considered as fraternal twins. Fraternal twins are formed from two different ova fertilized by two different sperm. The fraternal twins are siblings born at the same time. Like other siblings they share half their genes, chromosomes and also deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), (M Fish, 2010). So they shared some of the common traits indirectly in their daily routine. Not only that, it was also considered as nature, which is the biological traits inherited from their biological parents. Adoption studies stated that two sets of factors that may account for differences in behaviour and personality which is biological parents and environmental parents. So any links between the biological parents and child that is given away is usually explained by genetics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The twins can also be the product of their environment. Since Julius lived in a peace and harmony island, so he does not know about the life in the city, he totally realiable and right–minded, he was also lack of communication skill with others since he stay on the island about thirty years without others people instead of his biological father, this can be explained by the incidence whereby he is shy speechless when he met a girl, Marnie in the supermarket. Besides, he was also resists to those antisocial activities or behavior. In contrast, Vincent was more to craft and sly guys. This probably because of nurture factor whereby he lived in a competitive city and need to compete with others in order to survive. So Vincent was a big mouth and glib tongue guys, especially to her girlfriend. Not only that, he also involved in gambling for him to get more financial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Merriam–Webster's collegiate dictionary (1993), the term adoption refers to "legally take another person's child into your own family and take care of him or her as your own child". But in a simpler way to describe adoption is by saying "Adoption is a wonderful family building option". With a great array of reasons why people adopt, one those reason that deserves a special mention is "infertility". The inability to have a biological child is the most powerful reason to adopt nowadays. Despite adoption being an act of love, international adoption is one of the challenges in the modern world. Hurdles and Law restrictions make it harder for families who are willing to do so but don't fill society expectations. When a single person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is true that the cost for a family to adopt an international child is extremely expensive. Nowadays, the couple who decide start the adoption process is responsible for all the administrative and legal cost, as well as training and adoption preparation, home study, translation, notarization, travel to the country where the child is, medical expenses and all of this usually involve taxes. According to American's Adoptions Agency (2017), "the cost to adopt is around $50,000". One alternative to solve the higher prices is subsidizing some requirements for governments. For instance, the countries where the couple and the child are living could have a department in charge of the whole administrative process because this process required more effort between countries. Also, to have many ways to pay for an adoption such as credits where the amount is divided into periods. Thus, if governments invest in the adopt process more couples would be interested to know more about the adoption even start with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

C h e c klis t A d vic e f r o m T h e r a pis t s a n d E x p e rie n c e d P a r e n t s By Jean MacLeod An orphanage visit can be a beneficial event for an adoptee, providing a link to personal history and a grounded understanding of her life circumstances. It can also be an unpleasant, or even traumatizing experience, filled with anxiety and shock over what abandonment and institutionalization really mean. As Jane Liedtke stressed in P r e p a rin g f o r a H o m ela n d Visit , an orphanage visit should be planned, based on a child's individual emotional and cognitive readiness. Talk about disabilities that keep a child in an orphanage, or medical conditions that might require an infant to have an IV, be on oxygen or recovering from surgery. Some babies might be in incubators. Orphanage smells or sounds can be powerful triggers to pre–verbal memories. Chinese music may be a positive trigger, while hearing crying babies could cause some children to shut down. • 9. Boleking And Poverty In India India is home to over 1.2 billion people with 4 percent of the population being orphans. India is overloaded with orphans and statistics show that the problem is not going to be getting any better anytime soon. There are many factors that contribute to the reasoning behind the amount of orphans, like poverty and some kids being forced into sex trafficking and prostitution. There are over 20 million orphans in in India because the country is very poor, some families simply can't support a child so they abandoned them, and some children are unfortunately forced into sex trafficking. There are many reasons that India alone has 20 million orphans in their country but by far the most dominant factor is poverty. Around 67 percent of India's population lives below the poverty line (10 Facts about Poverty in India). Parents simply cannot afford to provide for themselves or for their children. • 11. The Current State on Russian Orphans Essay Every year approximately one thousand Russian orphans are adopted by American couples. As of early 2012, President Vladmir Putin has called for a ban on all Americans adopting Russian children. Due to intense relations between America and Russia and the increasing death and illness rate of Russian children living in America, Russian officials have ceased adoption by American couples. By denying access to Russian orphans, the government is bound to cause an increase in children with mental disease and possibly prevent these children from prospering for their future. In 2008 the first incident of an adopted Russians death occurred. Dima Yakovlev, or otherwise known as Chase Harrison passed after his father had accidentally left him in the ... In an attempt to muffle the sounds of the cries the two women stuffed one child into a tub with a blanket over him. The other ones were stuffed in covers and put into a closet. It was not until the next morning when the next crew came in that the three children were found. Two had severe injuries afterward and one child, the youngest died. Because of harsh relationships between Russia and many other countries the Russian government has put a ban on all adoptions by many other countries. Due to the use of children as a political tool, many ethical and moral values and rights are being broken by Russian officials. Not only is this immoral to couples who wish to adopt these children but to the children themselves as well. By preventing foreign couples from adopting these children, the Russian government is holding back the orphans from a better life. The homes that they are kept in while living in Russia are poorly equipped and the children then suffer from mental and physical illnesses as a result of the orphanages. The rejection of ... My mother and I were standing in the bank vault, and she was getting some papers for a trip to Canada, to update all of our passports. While Mom was sorting through the papers and jewelry in our lock box, I joined her. One particular, colorful document caught my eye, so I drew it from the lockbox and held it up to her, asking what it was. After looked at what I was talking about, she explained that it is my birth certificate. The writing was strange, definitely not English, so this couldn't possibly be my birth certificate. Mom gathered all of the passports, my birth certificate, and we went home. I couldn't stop asking her questions about what all of the words meant, until she finally told me. That day, I learned of my adoption. The adoption story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why couldn't my family look at the registry? Why did my parents feel the need to bribe the judge? As I asked questions, I learned that the reason they offered us up to Russians first was that they considered children, orphans, as the perfect building blocks of Soviet citizenships. There was no family to corrupt us and we lived under the care of the State. Now, why a Russian family didn't take me was they did not have much money to adopt children. Adoption of Russian babies could cost up to $50,000. My adoption cost about $15,000. The small amount is due to my mental disability. Viewed as "incompetent" by Russians, I was more likely to extend out to a global adoption. I was a "clearance baby". The reason children are supposed to be on the registry for 10 months is so eligible Russian couples, who are looking to adopt, can have their pick, instead of having all of the "decent" children snatched up by ... • 17. The Heart-warming Tale of Girls and Boys Town Girls & Boys Town is different! The story of Girls and Boys Town is one of the most heart–warming tales of human effort of the 20th Century. It is a tale of faith, courage and sympathy – one that enchanted the imagination of the world and changed the way South Africa cares for challenged youth. Founded by the late Bishop Reginald Orsmond in 1958 and based on the principles of Father Flanagan's famous Girls & Boys Town in Nebraska, USA, Girls & Boys Town has granted thousands of children of all races, genders, faith and languages a new beginning. Most of them arrive here with broken dreams, sick at heart and in body too. Some have been physically or sexually abused, forgotten or abandoned. Some come from broken homes, do badly at school, have discipline issues, and lack social skills. What makes them different ? Girls and Boys Town is under the guidance of adults, the kids actually govern themselves, electing their Mayor, Councillors and Managers who make the rules and see that they are kept. This capitalises on the teenage desire to be admired and respected by their peers. Our eight registered Children's Homes – four large Youth Development Centres and four community 'family' homes – offer residential care to children whose own families cannot cope and who don't do well in foster care. What are their objectives? Girls and Boys Town, South Africa delivers national services that: Take into consideration the needs of adolescents and adolescents home environments ... • 19. Descriptive Essay Have you ever felt oddly out of place somewhere that should be more, familiar? I've never felt more alien then on my third trip to China visiting the Hunan province in a little town called Chengdu. This little town was my origins. Like much of China it had become more urbanized and like much of China it was unrecognizable to me. Seventeen years and six months ago I was adopted by Colleen Colbert, and Joel Carreiro from an orphanage in a little town called Chengdu. As I walked up to the building it was a large well built building with electricity, functioning toilettes and playgrounds. I soon learned this was my orphanage 2.0, they rebuilt a larger and better accommodated building for the growing number of kids in search for a different kind of family. The building that I slept and played in was not in use and near rice fields where water buffalo roamed nearby. It was a medium, shoebox shaped building, brown from time and rust. I wanted a port key to take me someplace familiar, even the hotel room felt more homely. And yet I walked along my old grounds with my mom and was told how I lived as a baby and who I was before I could remember. It was strange to hear about my life in someone else's perspective and for the first time. My adopted mom and dad couldn't tell me who I was for the first 18 months of my life as they were thousands of miles away and hadn't known me apart from a cute 4 by 4 picture of a very smiley yet chubby Chinese baby. As I endured the sweltering heat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Long Standing Effects On Children There are about three hundred million children that are subjected to violence, exploitation and abuse in orphanages (Kovacs Np.) Orphanages are supposed to be a haven for children to escape previous problems, but instead these institutions are homes of nightmares for children. For example, many children placed in orphanages are there to escape the abuse of families and loved ones, only to experience more abuse at the hands of the orphanage caregivers. In the United States, at least one– third of children admitted to infant orphanages younger than 12 months of age died, primarily of gastrointestinal and respiratory illness, often complicated by malnutrition (Humphreyes 625–634). This is not a problem in America, there are thousands of cases like this in countries such as China, Russia, Romania, and Africa, these countries are prohibiting children their happiness. Children have all the odds against them. They are being abused and neglected. Many of them do not even get adopted. Furthermore, there have been studies that show the long–standing effects of orphans in institutions after adoption. These institutions prevent child growth and development, most are inadequate for raising children, many children develop mental illnesses, and they do not give children the education they need to survive. For one thing, these institutions prevent child growth as well as development. Children adopted from China were smaller physically and were behind peers in development. They did not ... Introduction Everyone deserves to have a home that they can live, a sufficient food and things that makes them contented although other are not comfortable to their life. Street children are those who are seen in the street and under the bridges. Orphanage is one of the best places for the street children to live. In this institution they will guided and they will take care by the officials. Some parents are not responsible to handle such things because of the way they live. Due to the poverty and parent's lack of interest in taking good care of their children many are seen by the roads, under the bridges and those chasing cars to ask for alms. • 27. Relationship Between The Crc And The Optional Protocol 1. The relationship between the CRC and the Optional Protocol is supplemental, being that the CRC is the binding/ruling international law on children's rights and the Optional Protocol expounds and expands upon issues that the CRC did not address sufficiently. The Optional Protocol is a separate convention that expands on three issues: armed conflict, sale of children, and communication. States that choose to ratify the Optional Protocol, do so by the same methods as the CRC, thus superseding the CRC provision on that issue. Under the CRC, article 28, age fifteen was the only age that could be agreed upon for children to participate in armed conflict, therefore, that is the minimum age; however, the Optional Protocol convention stated that age fifteen was too low and decided that age eighteen should be the minimum for participation in armed conflict. The Optional Protocol on the sale of children expands on the CRC's stance on the exploitation of children. The Optional Protocol made specific provisions on the sale of children in the sexual context such as prostitution and pornography. It outlines the measures that States should take in protecting children rom sexual exploitation. The Optional Protocol on communication is fairly new and it recognizes children's rights to bring grievances on the violation of their rights to the committee. It also outlines ways that States and governments can help children submit their claims. 2a. Haiti reported that street children in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This personal unmaking is what hits on the "phobic pressure points" for many people, including the loss of a child and being haunted ( King 18). A phobic pressure point as King best describes it is a primal instinctual fear that is widespread and works on a personal level. The loss of a child can be best described as a primal instinctual fear, causing an immediate reaction from the mother when her child is lost. The mother feels terror, fear, and panic over this loss that will supply the feelings of disestablishment and disintegration. John Bowlby (1988) states, " Study after study attest that healthy, happy, and self reliant adolescents ad young adults are the products of stable homes in which both parents give a great deal of time and attention to children" (p.2). This statement has powerful implication for children and infants without parents who spend most, if not all of their young life in orphanages; more specifically orphanages where attention is minimal. In 1729 the first orphanage was established in the United States. In the 1800's orphanages grew and in the mid 1800's charitable groups established 56 institutions for children (Bremner, 1970, p. 5). This raised the question for some professionals that whether placement of minority–group children is precipitated by poverty and lack of supportive resources, rather than disruptive family relationships or perceived habits of the child" (p. 8). The removal rate of Native American children was high as well. Like African American children there were obvious overlaps between removal from the home and poverty. As well during that time most social workers were Caucasian and tended to have different cultural standards in terms of family life therefore creating convolution. I think that adoption should be allowed because it gives orphans a chance to feel what it is like to be in a loving family, it gives parents that are either sterile or barren to have children of their own, and it gives many people a great chance to be in the type of family that many people are so happily in. Maybe someone that you know might be adopted; maybe you were adopted, now just think if adoption was illegal. Many people feel like it should be illegal. What different people might have been in your life because of the different path? These are questions that strike me occasionally. The main reason for this is because my life could have turned out quite differently. I am Chinese and was left at an orphanage when I was just a few days old, but was adopted when I was 14 months old. The life I have now is excellent, but sometimes I do wonder what my life would be like now if I had not been adopted. Various fish live in the river and I believe that some of them are caught to be sold within the local markets and perhaps even commercially. Nanping is also somewhat of a train station hub in China. There are three different railways going out of Nanping, so I would think I could have bought a train ticket for perhaps Fuzhou, which is a larger city in China, and looked for more work there or to some of the surrounding villages and worked on some of the local farms. While this is all after I would be out of the orphanage, I do think about how my childhood would have been different too. I have grown up as an only child, but being in the orphanage I would have been surrounded by perhaps hundreds of other kids as well as many adults. When the children are babies, I believe the nannies take them in their houses and take care of them there. When they are older they are then taken back to the orphanage and stay there until they are either adopted or age out. • 47. Persuasive Essay On Adoption Adoption is an extensive process where a family takes in a child as one of their own. To adopt a child, there are many requirements to make sure a couple is a good fit to adopt a child. Some of the requirements to obtain a child are being over twenty–one, complete an application, give information about your lifestyle and background, show proof of your marriage or divorce, (if applicable), and many more. There are multiple types of adoptions. These include agency adoptions, independently, internationally, and adoption as same sex parents. These are not the only types of adoptions. There are more just these that are the most common. The first one is adoption through an agency, agencies typically handle kids who have been abandoned, orphans, or abused. To adopt a child through them you must prove you have what it takes to be a parent and are ready to be one. The next is adopting independently, adoption independently is when the birth parents meet with the adoptive parents. Not all states will allow this and most of the time the states will regulate these very extensively. Another type of adoption is internationally adopting a child, this is by far the most complicated of all the types. The adoptive parents have to obey the laws of both countries and then obtain an immigration Visa to see if the child can become a citizen of the United States. • 49. Predestination And The Movie ' Predestination ' Predestination The movie Predestination has presented many great examples of different psychological cases. In the movie the plot of the story is that a bomber has killed many people and the main character has to go back in time to stop him. The aftereffects of going back in time multiple occasions is what may be a leading factor as to what each characters unique disorder may be, but the tiny details on the side is what reveals the bigger issue. The main characters are easy to breakdown and it 's obvious as to what each ones disorders are.The background of this character is directly unique to the movie as the main story of the movie is what causes him to develop all of his problems. The movie itself is a paradox and requires a lot of thought even after seeing it from a third person point of view so the characters themself face a harder grasp on the reality of what 's happening to them. The movie has three major characters that are unique to themselves and each other. The characters are all different to each other in many ways such as age, appearances, and even personalities yet they are crucial to each other at the end of the movie. The first character is a middle aged man named John, the second character is a younger woman named Jane, and the last character is an older man whose name is also John. The middle aged man, John, is the time traveling agent mentioned before whereas the older man named John is the fizzle bomber. The younger woman, Jane, works as a magazine ... • 51. My First Year Of My Life For years, I convinced myself that the story of my life began when I arrived in America at eleven months old. I tumbled through the clichéd white–picket–fence childhood, never realizing how impossible it was to completely discard the first year of my infancy. While I had always known about being adopted from China, I did not fully comprehend the weight of this detail until my late teenage years. I grew up in a loving and somewhat sheltered environment. My parents made my adoption seem like a grand fairytale, and they were my happy ending. To them, adoption made me more special than the average kid, causing me to never think twice about my beginnings. I was the miracle child who brought joy to everyone I met. I had to give an informative speech on a current issue for my final assignment. To this day, I still have no idea why, but I chose to talk about China's One Child Policy. I conducted intense research on the topic, and I fell into a depression during that time. So many abortions–voluntary and forced, early and late term. So much abandonment. As I read an article about all of China's abandoned and orphaned children, I, for the first time in my life, wholly came to terms with the fact that I had been one of those abandoned infants. I had been an almost victim of this cruel, unjust policy. When I presented, I used my own story to open and close my speech. I addressed myself by my middle name–my Chinese name, the name they called me in the orphanage. "This is Louzhi," I somberly declared. "She was abandoned and placed in an orphanage as a small child, and she is one of the millions of babies who are affected by China's One Child Policy." I discussed the policy's history and how the only hope for abandoned Chinese babies was adoption. Throughout that ten– minute speech, I felt like an ambassador for Louzhi. Part of me was this Chinese baby, but an even larger part of me, the part that had no memory of my infancy, was simply Lili. I finally became Lili Louzhi as I ended my presentation. "Remember Louzhi? These expectations are often impractical and not apt per the age . Children are held responsible for other people's behaviour. They may be consistently blamed for the actions and feelings of their parents. Disapproval toward children is aimed at their entire beings or identity rather than a particular behaviour, such as telling a child he is worthless when he does not do his homework or she is never going to be a good athlete because she missed the final catch of the game. 1.1.ii. • 55. Speech On Abandoned Children There are many reasons for the large number of abandoned children in India. The children can be unwanted (mostly girls), illegitimate or orphans due to diseases. The children have to be taken care of one way or the other. Orphan children are the deprived and the isolated population deserving special attention to become healthy and responsible children, physically fit, mentally alert and morally healthy endowed with the skills and the motivation needed by society. UNICEF and global partners define an orphan as a child who has lost one or both parents. An estimated 31 million children in India, aged 0–17 years, are orphaned and abandoned according to the most recent statistics from UNICEF. Proper family environment plays an important role in the life of children. Nobody can deny the important role of parents in developing balanced and harmonious development of personality. But unfortunately cruel fortune deprives some children of the sympathetic affectionate parental care. These children are known as orphaned children. An orphan is a child permanently bereaved of his or her parents. In common usages, an orphan does not have any surviving parent to care for him or her. Because of parental deprivation some children are reared in destitute homes and in orphanages. This group of children is termed as institutionalised orphan children. These ... • 57. Tuanfeng Orphanage A box, that is where my story begins. I was born in China to an unknown mother during the time of the one child policy. This meant that Chinese mothers could only have one child. Any additional children were taken from their parents by the government. At the time it was illegal for a Chinese mother to abandon her child. This meant that if mothers wanted to provide their child a safe and secure future, they often chose to leave the baby during the night either at or close to a children's orphanage. In my case it was reported that my mother left me in blue clothes, wrapped in a nice blanket, and tucked me into a box. The box was placed at an open air market across street from the TuanFeng Orphanage. In most all reported cases mother's will hid and watch their child all night to make sure they are safe and found the next morning. I was found by Zi Young, an orphanage employee on March 12, 2001, and brought to the orphanage. • 59. Effects Of Deprivation And Privation Of A Maternal... This essay will look at research into the effects of deprivation and privation of a maternal attachment on orphans in both Romania and around the world. Attachment is the emotional tie to a parent that an infant experiences, giving the child security. It develops gradually to the primary care giver and is important for survival (Boyd & Bee, 2009). In some cases children may experience a disruption of this attachment which is known as deprivation (Key Book Ref). Bowlby's (1965) maternal deprivation hypothesis states it is essential for the mental health of an infant and young child to experience a warm, intimate and continuous relationship with the mother. If a child is deprived of its mother, or any consistent caregiver, between 6 months and 5 years, known as the critical period, then this would lead to serious cognitive, emotional and social difficulties later in life. Bowlby's 44 Thieves Study (1944) supports the maternal deprivation thesis. It found that 32% of thieves were diagnosed as affectionless psychopaths with the majority experiencing separation for at least a week before the age of 5, illustrating that maternal deprivation can seriously disrupt healthy emotional development. Although, Rutter (1999) refute this and established that separation associated with illness was not associated with delinquency, but if separation was associated with stress, children were four times as likely to become delinquent, suggesting that Bowlby's thieves had probably suffered from ... • 61. Orphanages In The 1800s Attachment is vital to development. • 65. Argumentative Essay About Gay Adoption Corri Fairfull Discursive Essay–Gay Adoption Gay adoption is a subject which is widely debated. However over recent years gay adoption has allowed for most gay couples who want to adopt young children and give them a good quality of life, which they would have if they lived with their biological parents or a heterosexual couple, to do so. One positive view of gay adoption is that it gives the gay couple the chance to start their own family and give a child in care a new start to life in a loving home. This will allow the couple to love and care for the child just as much as they would if the child was living with their own biological parents. Gay couples who want to adopt a child will give the same loving family home just like a heterosexual couple or single parent would. For some children, living with a gay couple may be something they haven't experienced before. However finding a family who love the child and appreciate them for who they are, also encouraging them with all aspects of their life and supporting them all the way through their life is what matters most to children. Another positive view about gay adoption is that it means a child in care will receive the opportunity to get the benefit of new parents who are going to give them the best possible life with parents who are healthy, in a stable relationship and have a good financial support system in place. Since there are many children up for adoption, gay couples often adopt children who are older as babies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. John Keith Atkinson's Life aa a Child Laborour Essay John Keith Atkinson was the son of former agricultural labourers James and Mary Atkinson. They moved to Holmeside to work in Outcote Mill when their agricultural employer's farm was sold by the landowner to another landowner to make his holdings bigger and more profitable. With their jobs gone and their tied home lost, they followed other migrants into the town. John was an infant when they moved. In Holmeside the Atkinson family, including five children, lived in the fusty cellar of an already crowded house that gave rude shelter to four families besides them. Two families occupied two upstairs bedrooms, and another two lived in a single ground floor room. The parents of all five families and the older children worked at Staithes' mill. ... Keepers tormented their minds, abused their bodies, and determined every other aspect of their existence. Like most pauper children, John grew morose and sullen. He lacked the spontaneity of normal children, and lived in permanent dread that another tragedy might crush him. He remembered the day he and sixty other children were ordered to make paper parcels of their belongings. Brown paper and string were provided. With their bundles, they were packed like sardines into the back of two horse drawn caravans and trundled over rough roads for a week before arriving at Outcote Mill. They were bruised and in pain from their confinement, having had no room to stretch their limbs during the journey. Jumping down from the carts at journey's end sent shafts of pain through them. From the moment he arrived in the care of Reynold Walkden Staithes, young Atkinson was nothing but a factory apprentice, one of many whose individuality and needs were disregarded. Romanian Orphanages Romanian Orphanages Imagine a hospital that, at one time ran smoothly helping the public, now with the primary objection of taking care of the thousands of abandoned infants and children. This is the reality in Romania when Nicolae Ceausescu was in power. In 1966 he created an Anti–Abortion/Contraception law in order to raise the population and achieve his ultimate goal to slowly take over surrounding areas and increase Romania's power. The next plan of action was to open orphanages, which caused an entire generation of mentally and physically handicapped children. Ion Iliescu, former president of Romania created this law thinking that it is better for the children to be in state run orphanages, foster homes or to be adopted domestically. One thing I'm sure he didn't take into consideration is the fact that most abandoned children are gypsies, most Romanian's will not adopt a gypsy child. This means that until they open adoption internationally again, many children will not be getting the loving homes they deserve. It's a shame because there are so many people who want to adopt from there and can give those children a better home than they could ever imagine in Romania. • 71. Adoption Of The United States Essay Many children around the world don 't have a mother or father, or even a home. There are at least 140,000 orphans across the globe. About ten percent of all children are found working as child laborers. One out of every eleven kids under the age of five is not in elementary school, and almost three million children die every year from a lack of nutrition. The best way to get these children out of these situations is to change their lives through adoption, donation, or fostering. Adoption in different countries can be drastically different from each other. If you 're deciding to adopt from Africa, there are certain conditions you must follow. If you want to adopt from Africa, you have to be approved by the U.S. government. Before adopting in Ghana, you must love there for at least three months. By doing this, the prospective parents can see what life is like in Ghana, and will help them to better understand their future child. A waiver may be placed by the parents and passed by the court if the child 's best interest is met through this. You must be at least twenty–one years older than the child you wish to adopt, and at least twenty–five years old. Bottom line is, you 're best bet is to be older in order to adopt from Africa. In my opinion, I believe that the orphanage should have a better system so children won't get switched in the process of adoption. For instance, the orphanage should have made sure that each child was able to communicate with their new parents and vice versa. It also allows individuals to successfully move on from the dreadful past into a hopeful future. Moreover, closure is the magic that triggers healing, it cures the past scars and wound one experiences in their life. In a like manner, Laura was an individual that faced many hardships and grief because of this unfound closure towards her son, Simon.
