Analyse one of your coursework productions in relation to the concept of genre-
My A2 coursework is a music video production. I have chosen to do it of a singer. The mise en scene
in my images represents the setting in my music video as they were both set on the beach. Also it
also shows the genre of the song that the singer is singing, as the setting is a beach on a rainy cold
day, you would instantly think of a sad love song in this genre and this is what the song is. Also the
singer has a parker coat on and a burgundy coloured dress, this also shows that this artist is an
upcoming indie artist as usually if an artist were famous they would be wearing glam outfits with
amazing makeup and hair, whereas this artist just has ordinary clothes on. As the genre of the singer
is indie/pop this is shown through the clothes also as she isn’t wearing an extravagant outfit like
other pop artists usually would. This also shows audiences willing to listen to the singer that the
singer is not all about the props and settings of the music video but about the words in the songs
and how the song is being produced. It shows the singer cares more about the music then the image
which she portrays. This is how most indie bands / singers start out. The audience would be anyone
in-between 16 – 30 years old as people older than thirty usually listen to the music they have grown
up listening to and they don’t usually change their music taste, and anyone under 16 usually listens
to music at the top of the chart that is always getting played on the radio, so they probably won’t
