This document outlines the criteria for evaluating research and planning for a project at four different levels. At level 1 (0-7 marks), planning and research is incomplete, there is minimal research into the target audience and organization of production elements. At level 2 (8-11 marks), planning may be partially incomplete, research and organization is basic. At level 3 (12-15 marks), planning is complete, research and organization is proficient. At level 4 (16-20 marks), planning is complete and detailed, research and organization is excellent, and time management is excellent.

1. RESEARCH AND PLANNING – Self Evaluation
Level 1 0–7 marks
Planning and research evidence will be incomplete;
There is minimal research into similar products and a potential target audience;
There is minimal organisation ofactors, locations, costumes or props;
There is minimal work on shotlists, layouts, drafting, scripting or storyboarding;
There is minimal care in the presentation ofthe research and planning;
Time management may be very poor.
Level 2 8–11 marks
Planning and research evidence may be partially incomplete;
There is basic research into similar products and a potential target audience;
There is basic organisation of actors, locations, costumes or props;
There is basic work on shotlists, layouts, drafting, scripting or storyboarding;
There is a basic level of care in the presentation of the research and planning;
Time management may not be good.
Level 3 12–15 marks
Planning and research evidence will be complete;
There is proficient research into similar products and a potential target audience;
There is proficient organisation of actors, locations, costumes or props;
There is proficient work on shotlists, layouts, drafting, scripting or storyboarding;
There is a good level of care in the presentation of the research and planning;
Time management is good.
Level 4 16–20 marks
Planning and research evidence will be complete and detailed;
There is excellent research into similar products and a potential target audience;
There is excellent organisation of actors, locations, costumes or props;
There is excellent work on shotlists, layouts, drafting, scripting or storyboarding;
There is an excellent level of care in the presentation of the research and planning;
Time management is excellent.

2. Blog Entry Task
Answer the following questions as an entry for your blog. It can be titled Music Magazine Mock Reflection.
Explain why you have chosen your main image, background and other textual details.
I’ve chosen my main image and background as I think it appropriately represents the hip hop music genre
and one of its most recognized music stars which people will easily be able to identify.
What level would you rate your current piece of work?
I’d currently grade my work at a level 2 as I’ve started to pick up some basic understanding of what is
required in terms of content and deliverance
What worked well/looks effective in this production?
I think my artist represents the music genre in an identifiable way as his clothing is that typical of those
found in the music genre. The background also puts emphasis on the artist which looks good.
What would you need to do to improve this piece?
To improve I’d need to add more headings, banners, mast heads etc. and features to improve my grade and
possibly use a higher quality picture.
How will you apply your learning from the mock magazine design into the finished production?
Ill add all the features I previously didn’t use and also use my initiative in order to add what is required to
achieve a higher grade and listen to advice and feedback given from the teacher to gain higher marks and
understand what I need to do.
