Basic Info behind the film ‘Carrie’
• Original book by Stephen King (1974)
• Original film 1976
• The horror genre were becoming popular in 70’s
• Gory horror films were replacing ‘gothic’ horror films in the 30’s
which were more about supernatural, ghosts, monsters etc.
(Frankenstein, Nosferatu)
• Women’s movement / sexual revolution (social/political)
• The role of technology and production value
– Use of colour
– Electronic music
– Production stunts (car crashing, building exploding, fire, etc etc)
