was an Italian banking family. The
biggest accomplishments of the
Medici were in the sponsorship of art
and architecture.
The Medici were responsible for the
majority of Florentine art during their
reign.
They were Patrons of great artists like
Michaelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci.

5. LEONARD DA VINCI
Italian polymath whose areas of
interests were invention, painting,
sculpting, architecture, science, music,
mathematics, engineering and many
more.
Lived from 1452 – 1519
Considered one of the greatest
painters of all time

Michaelangelo was an Italian sculptor,
painter, architect, and poet.
Born in Florence, Italy on March 1475
and February 1564.
Often considered a contender for the
title of the archetypal Renaissance
man, along with his rival and fellow
Florentine Medici client, Leonardo da
Vinci.
His famous works are Madonna of the
Steps and Sistine Chapel ceiling

His work is admired for its clarity of
form, ease of composition, and visual
achievement of the Neoplatonic ideal
of human grandeur.
Ran an unusually large workshop
which due to his death at the age of 37
left a large body of work.
Many of his works are found in the
Vatican Palace.
One of the finest draftsmen in the
history of Western art.
