Remote cultures
1. Remote Cultures
1) Overall Impression of both cultures
The tribe from Venezuela was interesting. It was surprising to see that
people still live that way.
The video from WV was not surprising to me at all, I have lived here my
whole life and I knew people lived and acted like that.
2) Implications (social, political, legal, religious, economics, others)
I found it shocking that a 30 some year old American man married an 11
year old. I understand that it was her culture, but that is not his. Just
because he goes there does not mean he must participate in all cultural
things, like marriage.
3) How do they compare to yours
The Venezuelan tribes culture honestly does not compare to my culture
at all. However, being from WV Jessie’s culture does compare to
mine a little.
4) Similarities between both cultures
They both are remote and not really accepted by the rest of their
country/state.
5) How do you think those cultures were created
Civilization kept moving and both of these groups stayed where they
were and kept living the only way they knew how to.
2. 6) What would it take to integrate those cultures to ours, should we?
It would take a lot to integrate both of these cultures to ours. The tribe
obviously does not want to completely or they would have when they
had the chance to. Jessie could simply move, but he hasn’t so obviously
doesn’t want to either. Therefore, no we should not integrate these
cultures to ours.
