Political parties that are regional are not necessarily
regionalist parties. A "regional party" is any political
party with its base in a single region, whatever its
objectives and platform may be, whereas "regionalist"
parties are a subset of regional parties that specifically
campaign for greater autonomy or independence in
their region.

Ministers chosen by the prime minister
and appointed by the governor general
to lead various ministries and
agencies, generally with regional
representation. Traditionally most, if
not all, cabinet ministers will be
members of the leader's own party.
India
India has a multi-party system, where
there are a number of national as well
as regional parties. A regional party
may gain a majority and rule a
particular state. If a party is
represented in more than 4 states, it
would be labelled a national party.
Out of the 72 years of India's
independence, India has been ruled
by the Congress party for 53 years as
of January 2020.
South Africa
The NCOP provides equal representation to South Africa's nine
provinces and its approval is required for laws that affect South
Africa's provinces and cultural communities. Whereas the National
Assembly is elected by party proportional representation, the
