This article demonstrated discussions about myocardial injury and rehabilitation, not only focus on one or two causes for myocardial injury to occur, but also on multi-pathogeny. It discusses how to recover the injured myocardial tissue through various medical methodologies. According to the literature review, understanding the diseases is based on their pathogenesis, as well as the etiology and occurrence of their related symptoms, as far as cardiomyocyte injury is concerned. Re-functioning cardiomyocytes when weakened or lost after cardiomyocyte injury has also been discussed. Not only the consequence of myocardial injury but also relative diseases.

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

Regeneration of cardiomyocytes using bone marrow derived stem cell transplantation and other factors involved in heart repair.

Regeneration of Cardiomyocytes by Using Bone Marrow Derived Stem Cell
Transplantation and Other Factors Involved in Heart Repair
Pablo González
Abstract:
The heart is a very important organ in our body because it is in charge of pumping the
oxygenated blood through the veins and capillaries. One way it can be affected is by suffering a
heart attack. A heart attack can affect the heart by lowering its ability to pump and not carrying
the needed amount of oxygen through the body. If the heart continues at that rate its cells will be
damaged from lack of oxygen and the individual will suffer from heart failure. There are still no
cures for heart failure, although there are treatments. One very important treatment is Bone
Marrow Cell transplantation which consists of transplanting derived stem cells from the bone
marrow and injecting them into the cardiomyocytes. Stem cells will differentiate into heart cells,
taking the place of the destroyed ones. Transplantation therapy still needs more research, but it
has shown significant results in the regeneration of cardiomyocytes. Other types of heart therapy
are Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor intravenous injection and Drug Combination therapy.
The first one consists of injecting the myocardium with vascular endothelial growth factor which
will have an angiogenic and therapeutic effect. The second treatment requires the administration
of drugs such as statins, after the infarction to improve the viability of bone marrow derived stem
cell transplantation.
