It can be a big wow when you slow down from the business of everyday life, and you observe where you are coming from and where you going to.
The past year has been one of those wow moments when the end of another year arrived in a surprisingly exciting form, when we realise that we are having so much fun and the diary has almost no days left. As the magic of development and beauty graced us till the very last of the month.
We have celebrated our ‘Change Agents’ in the making graduating in Malmesbury and Worcester Prison, our Ivy Nyovane Teachers graduating their Montessori Training; We have been incredibly blessed with both our ‘Parole Portfolio’ where you wil meet Monwabisi Mbetane, who graces his community with ballroom dancing lessons as part of his COC Activation and further development at Ivy Nyovane Educare Centre. You will also find our outreach for lovely musical talent in the community of Elsies River.
So join us as we say farewell to 2014, with hugs and warm wishes as we spend quality time with our families during the festive season, discovering new horizons to inspire us for a new year.

Last Wednesday I delivered a speech titled “Success” to an enthusiastic group at the Centre of Education and Training in Brampton, Ontario. I opened my speech with the following quote:
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” ― Eleanor Roosevelt
And then I said success belongs to those:
a. with a clear vision and specific goals
b. willing to lose fear, willing take action and have a fierce desire and determination to succeed
c. who foster positive and meaningful relationships
Today I have decided to share with you a bit of my speech.
It is a privilege to present our annual report to you. We have had another incredible year of Change Agent Magic - contributing our special puzzle piece to crime prevention and diversion in our beautiful South Africa.
It moves my soul to experience how those we journey with allow themselves the experience of awakening to more of themselves and a deeper sense of purpose. I often say to our students:
>>Do not underestimate the ripple of your awakening<<
We experience its heartwarming impact on how we live and (un)learn together. A living and (un)learning that is authentic and kind… that is generous… that is honest and transparent… that stretches and encourages… that heals our wounds and edits our old stories. It is a living and (un)learning that allows the student their own unique path… also the tough patches! There is nothing more liberating than >>walking the plank<< of a perception!

TLC Reflection Paper
Our world definitely needs more leaders, but what does it mean to be one? Throughout
Tukwut Leadership Circle program speakers and invited guests have made me reconsider my
idea of leadership. A true leader is a person, who has a courage to bring his vision into reality, he
leads people showing them the right path, acting as an example of inexhaustible enthusiasm,
optimist, integrity, passion and open-mindedness.
Painting with the clients at Mountain Shadows strongly impacted me. Even though
sometimes it was difficult emotionally, volunteering there is an invaluable experience that made
me value the things I have in my life even more. Also, it showed me that people can overcome
any difficulty no matter how challenging it can be. I am happy that life has given me a chance to
be involved in such a wonderful humanitarian project.
There were two SMART goals that I set with Paulette. First goal was to complete TLC in
one semester and attend at least three M:POWR days, the other goal was to enhance my English
language skills with the emphasis on speaking and writing. I was able to attend one weekly
M:POWR, one on Saturday, and an intensive M:POWR. I am planning to help at the auction in
April as well. My English language communication skills have developed significantly and I am
working on my writing currently.
The workshops that I attended and overall TLC experience surely will help me to achieve
my career goals, since I want to work in the field of NGOs in the future. Thus, leadership and
intercultural skills are integral parts of my potential job. Currently I am taking an Intercultural
2. Communication class and the knowledge that I have got at the TLC workshops was very helpful
during our lectures and assignments.
There are so many things that you can do in CSUSM and so little time that you have as a
student. For my campus engagement, I attended different events like Bingo Night, Crafternoon
Tea, ALCIs’ Global Partnership Program, Movie Nights and International Coffee Hour. As for
my civic engagement, I am very grateful that I had a chance to volunteer at the Mountain
Shadows and Muramid Art Centre. Besides, every week, I volunteer at San Marcos Dog Kennel I
help to maintain the premises and care for the dogs in the shelter. Among my responsibilities is
taking the dogs out for walks and this job gives me much joy and happiness.
TLC program components showed me how much time, dedication and courage you need
to become a true leader. Also, from Mr. May’s workshop I have learned that a true leader is a
combination of inborn qualities and working on oneself. Now as I know the “criteria” for a good
leader I will enhance the qualities I already have and try to get the missing ones.
