Reflection Essays
Writing a reflection essay can be both a challenging and rewarding task. The difficulty lies in the
subjective nature of the assignment, as it requires the author to delve deep into their thoughts,
experiences, and emotions. Unlike more objective essays, reflection essays demand a level of
introspection and self-analysis that can be uncomfortable for some.
One of the challenges is finding the right balance between personal reflection and academic
rigor. While the essay is inherently personal, it must also adhere to certain academic standards.
Striking this balance requires careful consideration of language, tone, and structure. The writer
must navigate the fine line between expressing personal insights and maintaining a scholarly tone.
Moreover, the process of self-reflection itself can be demanding. It necessitates an honest
examination of one's beliefs, values, and experiences. This introspective journey may unearth
memories or emotions that are difficult to confront. Consequently, the writer may find
themselves grappling with the vulnerability that comes with baring their inner thoughts to an
audience.
Additionally, articulating thoughts and feelings effectively in writing poses its own set of
challenges. Finding the right words to convey emotions or complex ideas can be daunting.
Crafting a coherent narrative that engages the reader while remaining true to the essence of the
reflection requires a high level of writing skill.
Despite these challenges, the reward lies in the opportunity for personal growth and self-
discovery. A well-written reflection essay can serve as a powerful tool for introspection and can
contribute to the writer's own understanding of themselves and the world around them.
In conclusion, while writing a reflection essay may be challenging due to its subjective nature,
the process can be immensely gratifying. It pushes writers to explore their inner selves and
develop a deeper understanding of their experiences. The key lies in navigating the delicate
balance between personal expression and academic rigor.
And if you find yourself struggling with this or any other type of essay, you might consider
seeking assistance. There are resources available, such asHelpWriting.net, where you can order
various types of essays and receive expert guidance to make the writing process more
manageable.

Father Jack Flaherty Analysis
A Saint in the Making: Father Jack Flaherty
Priests can help you navigate your way through life because God s voice shines
through them. Father Jack Flaherty is one of the most compassionate and driven
priest I have ever met. He goes from parish to parish spreading God s love to
everyone in need and goes above and beyond in making sure that everyone feels
welcomed wherever they go. Due to his large time commitment, dedication to God
and his parishioners, and his exemplary exhibition of heroic qualities, Father Jack is
a hero
One important aspect of Father Jack s life that makes him a hero is the large amount
of time he commits to being a priest. Father Jack knew his calling was the
priesthood, but he had no idea how much schooling went into it. According to
Study.com, when becoming a priest men must go through three specific steps. First,
they must earn a bachelor s degree in the fields of either philosophy, religious
studies, or English ( Become a Catholic Priest: Step by Step Career Guide ). Then
after careful reflection on their vocation, they need to study at a seminary, classes
that prepare them for the priesthood by practicing preaching or studying church
history by using their critical thinking skills ( Become a Catholic Priest: Step by
Step Career Guide ). Lastly, they must become ordained, when the future priest
receives holy orders, a sacrament, from another priest, during a Mass or a celebration

Super Soldiers And Super Soldier Experimentation Essay
Super Soldier Experiments Going through life, at times, one would wonder how
vast the greed of human beings is. Is it as dangerous as we think? Wanting
something? Desiring something so much that you would risk everything you own
and love? Is it as sinful as we are taught as kids to believe? All we have to do is take
those desires and create something good out of it. However, when we desire
something that affects the rights of other living things, it is extremely bad and these
questions will all be answered with a solid Yes. . I will be sharing with you the
opinion of many others whom are against such situations; situations such as super
soldierexperiments.
Super Soldier experimentation is a version of human experiments on military
soldiers based on the idea of making them the perfect killing machines. The
government in charge of a certain military base doesn t want any interference of
human emotions, hunger, PTSD, and fatigue. For those in charge, being rid of those
pesky human emotions would benefit them greatly due to the fact that those sorts of
emotions may negatively impact the army s progress in defeating their enemies.
These kinds of experiments as well as other types of human experiments have been
going on for as long as the first World War or, perhaps, even before then. Numerous
have been articles put out on very notable figures in history partaking in these
supposedly top secret events. Genetically modified humans have been an ambitious

Baroque Era vs. Classical Era Many musical scholars agree that Baroque music and
Classical music are the two eras that are most influential on the way music is
performed today. The techniques and philosophies of those eras are often
mimicked; whether it be in musical concerts or movie scores, the presence of the
eras are still felt. The histories of the two eras are really influenced not just by the
arts and technology of their times but also the political climate, thus causing drastic
changes in performance. The characteristics of the two eras drastically change from
one era to the next as a direct result of the composers of the Classical Era trying to be

Baroque Era and was composed to be very simple, logical and clear with few
exceptions to those rules. (Smith) An example of a classical composer is Franz
Joseph Haydn, who began his musical career as a choir boy in Vienna where he
learned to play violin. In 1761, he was hired as the assistant music director to
Prince Esterhazy and later was named music director in 1766. As director he was
responsible for more than writing, directing or performing at least 2 concerts a
week and as a direct result wrote more than 100 symphonies as well as many
quartets and sonatas. (Buckley) An example of one of Haydn s most recognizable

Diary Of Kaamet Analysis
I was born on the month of Renwet, during the Fourth of Peret. My father used to
tell me stories of how both our moons fell on that day, an omen, an indication of
prosperity and future success to come. I never believed him, for I had never seen
the moons fall. The planet of Kaamet has two moons; the larger one named
Khonsu, the smaller one named Iah. It is said that once every 500 years, these
moons fall, and a new member of the royal family is born. The sky turns a deep,
blood red, with streaks of indigo and violet painting the sky. A vendetta of colour:
raging, violent, yet beautiful. The birthing ceremony was nearly perfect. The rites

This man, as I would later find out, was my uncle Asim Khalfani, king of the
Western kingdom. A horn was blown, announcing his arrival, even though his
presence seemed to fill up the entire room. Asim strode over to where the king and
queen were sitting. Brother , he exclaimed. It s nice seeing you again! Father s
face lit up at his brother s greeting. Yes Asim , he said, smiling. It has been quite a
while. But the festivities have started, and you are late! Come meet your niece.
Asim leaned over my cradle and kissed my forehead. He mumbled a prayer,
blessing me, a tradition for this occasion. It was at this moment that I knew that
things would never be the same. As Asim finished reciting the prayer, he tapped my
forehead 3 times. Leaning in close, Asim pressed his lips to my year and uttered
three words that would change the course of Kaametian history: I. Will.

To secure Hawaii water future, their first step includes the stakeholder input.
Researchers must come together and discuss their policies and constraints, and
how they can reach their goal in securing Hawaii s water future. The following step
is groundwater modeling, a process of understanding the gist of all the science
aspects of data being collected. This type of research requires a variety of scientists,
such as microbiologists, geochemists, and hydrologists. An example includes taking
a water sample from an area on Oahu to determine what direction the water is
flowing from. Their job is to collect samples of data and analyze if there is any
relationship between water and climate. The next step in their project is economic
modeling, a stage of scenario playing and discussing the economic benefits for the
community. The final stage is decision support, which is directly answering questions
regarding watershed policies, data, system capacity, and
Comparing Women In Macbeth And The Woman In Black
Women are presented in similar ways in The Woman in Black and Macbeth, both
writers use their female characters to create contrasts and raise questions about
women. Susan Hill s use of typical women of the time helps to contrast with the main
female character, sets the scene for this novel and also helps to bring some normality
to it. Susan Hill being able to create that image near the beginning of the novel of
what a good mother looks like using the archetypal mothers makes the personality of
Jennet Humfrye even more outrageously different. Furthermore, the Womanin Black s
powerful, commanding and dangerous character juxtaposed with the subservient
typical women such as Isobel, Esme and Stella and the emotional and affectionate

Both writers explore the struggle for power and the limitations of being a woman.
The writers nevertheless, have some differences in the messages they are trying to
convey, as Shakespeare experiments with the inclusion of masculinity in his female
protagonist as Lady Macbeth is the dominant one in her relationship with Macbeth.
Susan Hill also touches upon this as the Woman in Black could be interpreted as
showing the effects of having unique characteristics for a woman of her time.
Moreover, Susan Hill explores the family structure and whether the whole notion is
obsolete. The roles of women in both texts are clear and relevant for their contexts,
although some experimental individuality is

The article is titled Communication Modality Sampling for a Toddler with Angelman
Syndrome by Jolene Hyppa Martin, Joe Reichle, Adele Dimian, and Mo Chen. The
authors explored three modes of communication, vocal, gestural, and graphic, with a
young child with Angelman syndrome. The researchers investigated which modeof
communicationwould be the most effective and efficient for the child.
Angelman syndrome can cause cognitive, communication, and physical disabilities. It
is a disorder that affects around 1 in 10,000 births and for the majority of the cases,
the cause is genetic. Angelman syndrome can be caused by an abnormality in
chromosome 15. Previous research on Angelman syndrome and the different
communication modes is lacking. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This symbol is taught in gestural, graphic, and vocal mode. The modality sampling
has many advantages, one of the most important being that it provides important
intervention resources.
The main purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of graphic and gestural
modes of communication with a toddler with Angelman syndrome (Martin, Reichle,
Dimian, Chen, 2013). The participant was Adam, a 21 month old male with
Angelman syndrome. Before the study started, Adam was assessed in
communication, cognition, and fine and gross motor skills. Adam did not engage in
vocal imitation or turn taking. His mother reported that Adam would sometimes
vocalize to get her attention, he would also protest, request, and express excitement.
Adam s fine motor skills were delayed, but he had adequate movements to produce
gestures for the study.
Before the sessions started, the three researchers went through a role play training.
This was done to increase reliability and interobserver agreement between the
researchers. The 44 sessions occurred at the participant s house or at his day care
center. The first session was a baseline probe and the rest of the sessions were
divided into five phases. The sessions were held two times per week for five months.
The materials for the study included three objects or activities that Adam liked or

John Butler Becoming America Summary
In his book, Becoming America: The Revolution Before 1776, Jon Butler is arguing
that prerevolutionary America was much more modern than it is often thought to
have been. He argues throughout the book that the people, economy, politics, material
wants and needs, and spiritual beliefs within the colonies were all very similar to
those in modern America. Butler discusses the diversity of people seen within the
colonies that was not only unprecedented at the time, but is still not seen in some
countries today. He states that by 1703 there was no ethnic or national majority
within the colonies and that in certain areas, a majority could only be found by
grouping together all white settlers. Butler also points out that by 1760, American
Indian populations had decreased dramatically and were occupying very small
geographic areas surrounded by European settlers. This caused many Native
American populations to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He describes the colonial economy as more rapidly growing and complex than any
other economy in this time period. He states that the economy was incredibly
competitive, but that the gap between the rich and the poor accelerated more rapidly
in prerevolutionary America than any other time in American history. Butler also
stresses that the economy of the colonies at this time relied greatly on farming, but
states that after 1680 Americans began farming in a more modern and commercial
way. This meant that farms were not only producing enough to maintain their
household, but were also producing excess crops and livestock that they were able
to sell for profit. Butler argues that the southern colonies led the way in the
advancement of the colonial economy in unexpected ways. Farmers in the southern
colonies were able to manipulate the economy by diversifying the amount of crops
they grew in order to safeguard against price drops in certain crops due to excess
Philosophy of Behaviorism
Philosophy of Behaviorism
Tammie Williams
Columbia College
Abstract
For hundreds of years there has been a fascination on how humans behave and how
humans learn. This has been observed and studied by psychologists, educators, and
scientists by means of humans and animals and how they perform in different
environments. This fascination is known as behaviorism. This aspect of behaviorism
deals with how a humans or animals respond to a certain stimuli and how a new
behavior is then developed. This paper will address the philosophy of behaviorism,
the great contributors to behaviorism and their aspects of behavioral learning such as
classical conditioning and operant conditioning.

Psychoanalysis is a school of thought that was founded by Sigmund Freud. This
theory focuses on that behavior is influenced by the unconscious mind. Freud felt that
the human mind was made up of three elements which include the id, the ego, and the
superego. Eric Erikson, Carl Jung, and Anna Freud were also psychoanalysis
thinkers. Humanistic psychology was developed as a response to behaviorism and
psychoanalysis. Individual free will, self actualization and personal growth were
focused on by humanistic psychology. Carl Rogers and Abraham Maslow were
amongst the major humanistic psychology thinkers. Gestalt psychology is based
upon that people experience things as unified wholes. This approach started in the
late 19th century in Austria and Germany. This approach was a response to molecular
approach of structuralism (Cherry, 2005). Gestalt psychologists felt things must be
looked at as a whole rather than breaking the thought down. They believed that a
whole is more than just the sum of its parts. Cognitive psychology is a school of
thought which studies the mental process including how we remember, think,
perceive, and learn. Philosophy, neuroscience, and linguistics are disciplines that are
related to this branch of psychology. The stages of cognitive development theory by
Jean Piaget were amongst the most influential theories from cognitive psychology.

of Scripture Of all the debates that have developed in the Christian world over the
centuries, the debate in regards to the infallibility and authority of scripture looms
at the top of the list. This is not simply a trivial matter of belief, but this is a key
issue; what an individual believes in this regard has the potential to either clarify
or distort his or her view on the character, trustworthiness, and supremacy of God.
A person s stance on this issue, the infallibility and the authority of the written
Word of God, will determine and establish many of the boundaries of their faith in
God. To truly be a believer and follower of Christ requires that one place faith in, and
believe that Christ was who He said he was, and what He said he was. This belief
also requires one to believe what He believed and what He declared to be

Outliers Reflection
After reading the chapter in the book Outliers, The Story of Success, I believe that
Gladwell did a great job explaining how different cultures can cause an impact our
to the society and the individuals. Although I love working in a work place that
embraces diversity and is accepting of all kinds of people, this may lead to some
challenges due to the differences that we pertain. For example, every coworker I
work with is unique in his or her own way; we were all raised differently and were
born into other communities. Furthermore, this enabled us all have different ways
of doing things or handling situations. One thing that I was taught to do a certain
way may bother a coworker of mine if they do it differently and vise versa which
could lead to those challenges. A talent that someone may be superior at, may be
extremely difficult for somebody else. In the end, everyone has their own talents
which should be embraced and used in order to become successful. In the book, they

Koreans are also respectful and passive people, which hindered them from

that they needed to improve their communication with one another, and learn from

Descriptive Essay On Animal Abuse
An Animal Extravaganza s Galore
Animals are the beginning of the best nerve wrecking filled love you could ever

resonated with the everlasting idea of helping animals more so than anyone and
anything else in this world. My love for animals had begun when I was a mere two
years old. I ve always had pets: dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, and much more. I
remember the joy I d felt when my parents brought my dogs and I to the park. To find
out more information about how to help adoptable animals in shelters, I contacted
Amanda Smasal, a community outreach coordinator at Wayside Waifs. Wayside
Waifs is no kill shelter located in Kansas City, Missouri which has adoptable dogs
and cats, ready and willing to go to safe, loving homes.
When I first emailed Smasal asking if she would participate in the interview, I felt
overwhelming fear and began to panic about the whole encounter. The fear of
having to ask someone I had never met to talk with me is something that scares me.
Nonetheless, I sent the email asking politely yet efficiently to see if she would give
me a few of her precious minutes to answer questions about a cause worth fighting
for: animal rescue hospitals. She quickly responded to my quaint email
approximately a day later stating she would happily answer any and all questions I
have, significant or insignificant. The questions took a couple days to figure out. The

Essay On Homelessness By Liz Murray
People struggle internally with problems that are not always obvious to the
outside world; however, we can t usually tell what the particular problem is until it
is brought into the open. In Liz Murray s earlier years, she was homeless in New
York living in subways and parks. She overcame this obstacle by making a decision
that it was her choice and responsibility for her own life. She made her mind up to
change her situation by achieving the goals of education and improving her life. Her
familysituation created her homelessness at an early age when she had no choice in
the matter. Although her parents loved her, the drugs in their lives competed for their
attention. This lifestyle pattern she dealt with was a pattern from her mothers
childhood.

Each of us has unique experiences and characteristics, but our journey began in the

Dark Knight Themes
The Dark Knight
Drama Films are a genre that show serious stories, they re more realistic than other
genres out there because quite often they deal with real life situations. The characters
always have some kind of conflict; they show humans at their worst, best, and in
between. There s a wide range of themes for drama films, to name just a few: current
issues, societal ills, injustice, political unrest, corruption of power, and corrupt
societal institutions. The Dark Knight touches on quite a few of these themes. Joker
in his own twisted way spends a majority of the film trying to show Batman how
corrupt Gotham is. You see a good man broken down by a series of unfortunate
events and turned into something bad. You see a city believe in... Show more content

Christopher Nolan s The Dark Knight is a haunted film that leaps beyond its
origins and becomes an engrossing tragedy. It creates characters we come to care
about. That s because of the performances, because of the direction, because of the
writing, and because of the superlative technical quality of the entire production.
This film, and to a lesser degree Iron Man, redefine the possibilities of the comic
book movie. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 94% with an average rating of 8.6 out of 10.
Its critics consensus says: dark, complex and unforgettable, The Dark Knight
succeeds not just as an entertaining comic book film, but as a richly thrilling crime

The two scenes that stuck most with me were both between the Joker and Batman,
the interrogation scene and the final scene of the film between them. What made

The Theme Of Happiness In Dandelion Wine By Ray
Bradbury
Happiness is something that people all over the world strive for each day; it is
even some s ultimate goal in life. There are many different philosophies on how to
achieve and maintain happiness, but no two people are precisely alike on their
journey. Nonetheless, there is one reiterating theme found, everybody has been
given a chance at happiness. Life has never denied anyone of at least a glimpse of
the feeling. Although there will be darkness in life, happiness is perpetually found
down the road. Ray Bradburydisplays this idea in his novel Dandelion Wine. The
main character, Doug Spaulding, has many instances during his summer that supports
this theme. Through the loss, change, and pain Doug both experiences and views, he
can always find happiness around him and in the life he lives.
Doug experiences many instances of loss during his summer. Between the moving
of his best friend to the death of his great grandmother, Doug s life becomes very
different than it was before the summer began. These events may cause one to
believe that Doug is unhappy with his life, however it is very much the opposite.
By the end of summer, Doug is very optimistic about the next summer, saying next
year s going to be even bigger, days will be brighter, nights longer and darker
(Bradbury 235). Though the very small world of his has been flipped upside down
within a few months, Doug is still happy and knows that things are only going to
get better from here. One specific instance of Doug overcoming loss is when his
best friend, John Huff, moves away. After Doug sees John for the last time, Doug
blows up in a fit of rage screaming You, John! John, you re my enemy, you hear?
You re no friend of mine! (Bradbury 111). This loss was very hard on Doug because
he is very young, twelve years old, and hasn t had to deal with anything like this.
After calming down, Doug moves on and is able to find joy in life in things such as
going to the local ravine, writing revelations in his journal, and spending time with
family. He becomes content with life once again.
Change is another prevalent item in Doug s summer that some might believe could
hinder his happiness. Many parts of his life that have always been there change over

Dinosaurs Extinction
Have you ever wondered why dinosaurs went extinct? Here is a theory of why the
dinosaurs don t exist in today s world. A long time ago the only thing that existed
was animals called dinosaurs they were the only living things on planet earth. These
dinosaurs were unique because they could talk, but nobody could understand them, it
was like their secret code language. These dinosaurs lived a happy and healthy life
until the small explosion changed the life of these dinosaures. Just a few miles away
from eartha fight started between two planets called Sun and Moon. The argument
was about who would shine more light on earth. The argument went to the point
where they started to shoot fireballs at the moon and then the moon started to throw
rocks at the sun. During the fight one the fireballs misses it s target (moon) and
made its was towards the earth but apparently there was space ship traveling the
universe full of aliens and the fireball came in its path which made space ship
crashed on Earth including the huge fireball. The fireball was so powerful that it
almost brought everything that came in its path such as rocks, asteroids and much
more. When the spaceship crashed on planetEarth, creating a loud bang, making the
dinosaurs frighten in terror. Then the biggest problem in Earth s history step out of
the broken space ship. There were 5 weird aliens that step out of the space ship.
They had very big heads that looked like blue almonds. When the aliens step out
Legal Prostitution in the United States Essay
It is rather odd to think that prostitution, which is considered to be the world s oldest
profession, would be illegal and harmful in nature. The issue of legalizing prostitution
has entered public conversation around the world, which is severely divided. Many,
like myself, consider prostitution to be a victimless crime. Despite such opposition to
legalizing prostitution, many argue that legalizing it would result in decreased
morality issues, increase the economic activity in the United States, and help decrease
the number of sexually transmitted diseases among both prostitutes and those who
patronize them, The most common argument against the legalization of prostitution
is that it establishes sexual immorality. The prostitute,... Show more content on

The United States nor virtually any other country has ever been plagued with the
problem of too little population growth, also it is not a threat to institution of family.
What is left of the moralist argument is that prostitution is wrong morally, only by
the religious faith. This point cannot be logically rejected; it must simply be accepted
or rejected as an assertive statement. Given that prostitution will continue to flourish
in the United States, there are many people who do not accept the religious
disapproval and many more who are not willing to pay for the enforcement of these
religious rules.
Another argument to legalize prostitution would to be to regulated it, and take the
woman off the street and place her into a safe environment, for instance: women
who are in brothels in Nevada are screened monthly for STD s and are given birth
control. Sexually transmitted diseases are a major concern for the women as well as
the men and should be a major reason why legalization of prostitution should be
pushed. Legalized prostitution has shown that prostitutes who work in brothels
practice safe sex and are less likely to contract and transmit STDs. As indicated in the
article entitled, Prostitution : George Flint, director of the Nevada Brothel
Association, points with pride to the 20,000 monthly AIDS tests that have been
performed on legal prostitutes since tests were required in 1986, with HIV showing
up only among job applicants. Similarly, not a
Why Are Pharmaceutical Companies Unethical
Pharmaceutical companies market their product in a variety of ways. It can be
anything from simple pamphlets to actually taking doctors out to dinners to persuade
them. An enormous amount of money is spent on this marketing could go to other
things, but it is instead used to influence people. It becomes less about the treating a
condition and more about making a profit. It even gets to the point where
pharmaceutical companies target the uneducated public and try to manipulate them.
Pharmaceutical companies have turned prescriptions into more of a way to make a
larger profit rather than a means to help people.
The means by which pharmaceutical companies are at best questionable and at worst
unethical. The amount of money that is spent on the marketing of pharmaceuticals is
greater than what goes into research to. About $29.9 billion is spent every year on
marketing by American pharmaceutical companies while nine out of ten companies
spend less than what they spend on marketing on research. That money could be far
better distributed to be able to help people rather than using it to manipulate health
care professionals and patients into using their products. Research grants can be very
difficult for researchers to get and a lot of that money could go ... Show more content

It can of course create an open discussion between doctors and patients, which is
good, but there can be downsides. A great example of this would be
antidepressants. There are loads of adds on the television for medications like
Cymbalta. The people those advertisements are targeted to are not trained medical
professionals and they can easily be misled. They do not have the knowledge to truly
make an educated decision that only years of medical training can get. People can

that that is the medication or treatment for them, even if that is not the
Stereotypes In The Wasp Factory
The novels Lady Audely s secret , Rebecca , and The wasp Factory possess
analogous elements of the gothic. They present diverging concepts of femininity
rebelling against imposed gender stereotypes, and focalise on the usually
marginalised abjected figures of society. (Kristeva, 1982:3) This essay aims to argue
how the gendered the monster are embodiments of social anxieties and ideologies and
how challenge these projections. Mutual notions within the texts such as: the use of
gothic tropes, uncanny gendersubverting society s ideals, and monsters as metaphors

Drying Is A Mass And Heat Transfer Process Essay
Chapter 1 : Introduction
Drying is a simultaneous mass and heat transfer process that converts a liquid,
solid or semi solid feedstock into a solid product having lower moisture content.
This is usually done by applying heat to evaporate the liquid into a vapor phase.
Sometimes drying takes place below the triple point of the liquid to be removed and
the solid phase is directly converted to vapor phase via sublimation as in case of
freeze drying. [1]
As drying must involve a phase change of the liquid to be removed, it is considered
as one of the most energy intensive unit operations. This is due to the high latent heat
of vaporization, as well as, the inefficiency of using hot air as the most common
drying medium. Hence, the operating cost of dryers represents their major cost item.
Drying is an important process in many fields such as chemical, agricultural,
ceramics and pharmaceutical industries. It may be done to have free flowing solids
that are easy to handle, to facilitate the preservation and storage of different materials,
to reduce the transportation costs or to achieve desired quality of products. [2]
Regeneration of adsorptive beds is an important drying application. The operation of
such beds includes three periods. During the first period adsorption takes place till
breakthrough. This is followed by steaming period where live steam is blown through
the bed to remove the adsorbate from the solid desiccant. In the third period;
regeneration period, the hot, moist

George Orr s Loss Of Power
Throughout history, there has been many leaders or individuals who have taken
power over their followers and anyone else under them. They pick and choose what
they want to do with the power they have and whether they want to use it for good
or bad. More often than not it is utilized towards good and helping others. But when
it is not, it can lead to the destruction of the person with the power and of the
followers of the leader. Though having powers can be one of the best things in the
world, it can also be the worst because it can drive people away from helping others, it
makes them believe that they can change another persons thoughts and feelings, it
makes them believe they can change their surroundings and the future, and ultimately

But sometimes having power can be a downfall for some. Many would agree that
power comes with great responsibility, for example leaders such as the president or
teachers and parents. All of whom are thought as people who are there to help
others in some aspect. In the novel The Lathe of Heaven, by Ursula K. Le Guin,
character George Orr begins receiving help from Dr. Haber to stop changing reality
with his dreams. Soon after, Dr. Haber realizes George s powers are real, he begins
to use his powers to his advantage and stops helping George with his dreams.
George realizes it and he says, It s the chance of power that my dreams give him
that twists him around. (75) He knows that his power has gotten to Dr. Haber and
that he is being used by him to achieve greater things for himself rather than help
him. In Out of Control!? How Loss of Self Control Influences Prosocial Behavior:
The Role of power and Moral Values, by Anne Joosten, Marius van Dijke, Alain
Van Hiel, and David De Cremer, it states, We argue that people need power to feel
that they can refrain from helping others . The individual who possesses power
ultimately feels superior to everybody else, leading him away from the helpful person
he was in the beginning. Feeling superior then also enables the person to manipulate

This paper looks at the gift giving tradition between the Natives and the Europeans.
Carlos and Lewis s Marketing in the Land of Hudson Bay article explains in great
detail the strategies used by the Hudson Bay Company to develop a trading
relationship with the Natives, as well as the trends in trading. The article also
elucidates that in order to understand its customer s culture and demands, the Hudson
Bay Company participated in Native traditions one of which was to present gifts to
Native traders before the actual trading. As the importance of this tradition is
emphasized in the article as well as the data presented, this paper aims to explore the
influence of receiving gifts on trade between the two parties. Giftexchange is a
common practice among many countries and many professions. The economists look
at gifts as an incentive to increase productivity. This theory is tested and proved in the
following two articles.
The article Regarding gifts on Christmas gift exchange and asymmetrical business
relations by Jeannette Lemmergaard, and Sara Louise Muhr, focuses on the
impression the company gifts can make on the business partners during Christmas.
The authors argue that corporate gift exchange between business partners at
Christmas is an attempt to build personal relationships, as a gift represents social and
cultural value than just the economic value. The article extensively investigates the
regard and obligation phenomenon, which is explained in the article as:
Is Edgar Allan Poe Genius Or Insane
There is always one step from genius to insane. Whatever case we take, both genius
and insane people have a kind of psychological shift from normal condition. This is
well known fact that early ages of human life impact person s fate to a large extent.
To better understand Edgar Poe, its quite necessary to go back to his early ages.
Poe knew sadness and grief his whole life. His mother died when he was only a
baby, he frequently argued with his foster father, and his beloved wife died of
tuberculosis. Edgar s father, David, was an alcoholic and abandoned Edgar and his
two siblings after his mother s death. Being a lonely and abandoned boy, he got
obsessed with cats and often wrote his masterpieces with a cat on his shoulder or on
the table. A big sorrow, which Edgar Alan Poe came through in his childhood made
him very secretive and reserved man. One morning he was found unconscious on the

Essay about A Comparison of My Last Duchess and...
My Last Duchess is a poem about an arrogant and extremely powerful
Duke who is describing his deceased Duchess. From the word last in the title it is
implied that the duke has had more than one duchess.
In this poem, the Duke is extremely egotistic. He says, I choose never to stoop. The
duchess would look at everyone in the world as being equal no matter what class
they are. The duke however cannot do this. He is too worried about his appearance.
Porphyria s Lover is a poem in which a man describes an evening in which his lover,

In addition, here the use of enjambment is effective because it gives the reader the

The rhythm in this poem is consistent give a relaxed atmosphere in the poem. This
is effective because it makes the Duke revealing he had his wife murdered more
shocking. Browning jars the rhythm in the poem where the duke reveals he had his
wife killed.
Browning also uses an effective rhyming scheme. He uses rhyming couplets to make
the poem flow easily. For examplein My Last Duchess he writes, FrГ Pandolf s

Lover gives the poem a relaxed rhyme but off rhymes give a shocking effect at the
point where the lover murders Porphyria
Browning use enjambment effectively in both poems. More so in
Porphyria s Lover . The lines do not employ end stops; sentences and other
grammatical units do not necessarily conclude at the end of lines. This happens
more so in Porphyria s Lover . The lover describes
Porphyria removing her wet hat, untied/ Her hat and let the damp hair fall . The use
of enjambment here gives the image of her long blonde hair falling from beneath her
hat. This is effective because it gives the reader the image of her hair moving out of
position.
Browning uses language very effectively in these poems.
In My Last Duchess Browning use diminutive language to describe the

Spinal Cord Essay
The spinal cord in partnership with the brain sends information around the body by
electrical signals. It informs the body exactly what it is the brain requires, the brain
then interprets what the body is feeling. The spinal cord in conjunction with the brain
makes up the CNS. A cylinder of nerve tissue which resembles a thick cream coloured
rope about the thickness of the little finger with a length of approximately 38/45
centimetres stretches these distance to where it joins the medulla oblongata situated
at the base of the brainand runs down the spinal cordto the level of the first lumbar

The thickness of the spinal cord varies in thickness depending on the area of the
vertebral column and parts of the body supplied. It swells out in both the areas of
the cervical and lumber regions, where at these points it supports the large nerve
supply to the limbs. Known as the cervical and lumbar enlargements. The cord
itself consist of a deep cleft both at the back and the front, here it is almost
completely divided into a right and left side like that of the cerebrum. If you were
to view a section of the spinal cord which had been cut cross sectionally you would
be able to see a butterfly shaped region, which would appear grey in colour and
surrounded by white matter. Found on the outside of the cord, the white matter

spinal cord supporting communication of the CNS. Each bundle of nerve fibres are
responsible for specific types of information they can transmit ascending signals
towards the brain and descending signals from the brain to neurons in various
muscles and glands throughout the body. Found inside the spinal cord is the grey

Revenge In Much Ado About Nothing
Revenge is an act of retaliation at someone who wronged you. In the comedy of
Much Ado About Nothing, by William Shakespeare, the theme of revenge plays a
role. Revenge plays a part in our lives just as it does with the characters in Much
Ado About Nothing. Growing up with a younger sister of similar age, we often
fought (we still do). It is now all a big blur on why we fought, but I can still
remember the act of revenge that we took on one another. I remember that it was
around lunch time when we were still around the ages of 8 and 9 and we fought
about something I cannot recall now. I was very mad at my sister and decided that I
would take matters into my own hands. It was around lunch time and we were going
out to get something to eat.

The History and Production of Yummy Jelly Beans Essay
Jelly Beans
Around the world small, sweet, sugar filled candies bring enjoyment to those who
consume them. What are these tiny, pleasure inducing sweets? The answer is jelly
beans. Jelly beans are produced in numerous varieties and flavors; therefore, their
story is just as diverse and colorful as they are.
The History of Jelly Beans Initially, the first jelly bean was created in the early
1800s by an unknown American candy maker. However, one can trace back the
beginnings of their production process to 17th century France. The French made
Jordan Almonds, sugar glazed almonds, by a process called panning, which is now
used to make the hard sugar coating on jelly beans. Panning is the rocking of a
desired item in a container filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then the trays are coated with a light layer of cornstarch, which is then left to dry
overnight. The next day, the cornstarch layer is removed, the middles are put
through a moisture steam bath, and are finally sprayed with sugar and left to sit
for another twenty four to forty eight hours. Next, is the panning process where the
centers of the bean are set in a rotating drum, called an engrossing pan. While the
center is rotating, sugar is added gradually to build the hard outer shell. During this
time, colors and flavors are also added to get the unique look and taste of the bean.
Once finished, confectioner s glaze is added to give the beans a shiny, smooth,
and silky appearance. After the beans have been polished (a process that can take
two to four days) they are ready to be shipped to companies and stores. Overall, the
whole process can take between seven to twenty one days depending on the
manufacturer. Consumers can find jelly beans in most candy shops, mini marts, and
grocery stores. If interested in specifically buying Jelly Belly brand, consumers can
go to the Jelly Belly website to make their specialized orders.
Flavors To begin with, there were only a few flavors of jelly beans; however, today
there are many brands all with their own unique renditions on numerous flavors. The
Jelly Belly Company is known for its wide and unusual range of flavors. Their most
popular has changed throughout the years, but Very Cherry
Voyager s Golden Record
The idea behind the Voyager s Golden Record was created by a NASA team in
1977, which was led by an Astronomer from Cornell University, Carl Sagan. The
Golden Record was designed to show Earth s experiences to an Alien world. The
record was designed with sounds and images to show the diversity of the human
population on Earth. Essentially, the Golden Record was a time capsule for extra
terrestrial intelligence (Molteni, 2016). The Golden Record was not the first time
we tried to reach out to alternative life forms. The Pioneer 10 and 11 launched into
space carrying small metal plaques in the early 70 s, which only indentified time and
place for the extra terrestrial life (NASA, 2016).
The Golden Record begins with a quote from then President ... Show more content on

The Kickstarter Campaign reached its pledge goal of $198,000 and will begin
launching a new three LP vinyl box set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the
Golden Record. The LP s will include all the original audio, images and contents of
the original Golden Record but will add additional items such as, a book with all
the original illustrations from the original Voyager mission. The LP s will also
include essays written by all the people involved with the Voyager mission from
1977. The set will also include a digital download and a lithograph of the cover
diagram. This will be the first time the Voyager Golden Recordwill be available to
the public (Brennan, 2016). The updated version will be a memory time capsule for
everyone to enjoy, something to share with their ancestors for many years to
Busn115 Week3 Assignment
BUSN115_Week3_Assignment
Scenario: To open a Lemonade Stand in your local neighborhood.
Its summer time and the most important thing in hot weather is the need to quench
your thirst. What is a better drink then a refreshing Lemonade. Since long I was very
much interested in opening a lemonade stand, which I finally decided to have it
implemented before the summer season starts. After a lot of research and hard work I
have come up with a business model that would work efficiently in generating
revenue and also help local community.
Brand:
The brand name that I came up with is a catchy and trendy word which I think
represents the product and justifies the product s need in hot season. The brand name
would be GO COOL Real Lemonade. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pricing Strategy:
Since the Lemonade business depends on lemon and sugar, our company will have
to keep an eye on the stock needed and the availability of the two item locally and
internationally. Even though the business will be at the peak in summer and will
slow down in winter, a close monitoring on the international prices is a must. The
future plan of the company is to expand in other continents by giving out franchise.
So if it winter in US we generate business revenue from countries like Australia and
New Zealand where they would have summer. To keep standard pricing and profit
margin for the franchises, a detailed costing would be required. The things that are
needed to be considered would be Cost of Lemon, Cost of Sugar, Cost of water, Cost
of container, 10% overheads (labor, rent, utilities, etc), 5% franchisingfee and 7%
profit margin. In addition to this pricing 2% price fluctuation will be added to the
cost. With this calculation the company and the franchises should make enough
money to survive in the competitive market.
Global Market:
Even though the product can be packed in a container and can be sold globally, I
would prefer to have local franchises so that we can provide pure and authentic
lemonade without preservatives as we promised. Also, opening a franchise will give
local people employment, which is also a way to give back to the community.
If we stick to the plans and ethics, I think our company has a bright future
Essay on Sunny Southern California
California, I have found it, according to their state motto. A land plentiful in beauty.
The north houses massive fields, ideal for harvesting the fruit of the vine. The
middle of the state contains a massive hub for immigrants, a bridge made of gold,
and buildings widespread. Down south there is an odd combination of Hollywood
stars that own ten million dollar houses, while at the same time, only 80 miles south
lies an area with a large Hispanic influence.
Imagine multiple cultures encapsulated within a one and a half mile long pier. The
road can be traveled with a 30 minute walk, a 20 minute bike ride, 15 minutes on
roller blades, or a two minute cruise in your convertible. A small strip of land that is
divided as well as the Northwest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Muscle Beach jumps out with men pumping iron just to the right of the path, it
cannot be missed and the men make sure of it. Across the street lies a neon sign
displaying Tattoo Parlor right next to a tanning salon. (Ironic considering the 75
degree weather all year round.) Lastly and definitely not least is the Canali CafГ©,
(No, I did not misspell cannoli.) which resides just off the Ocean Front Walk on
Washington Blvd. Then my brother and I hastily crossed the steet on our bicycles to
avoid the oncoming traffic and continued to the next block.
A large fancy white building, which did not appear to belong with the neighboring
shady shack on the street, emerges from the haze. The scene looked like a set for
Hair on Broadway, as 10 college women were dancing to Bob Marley s music raising
multiple signs that said, Welcome to The KushShop, the doctor is in today . Once
my eleven year old brother (He is not very coordinated.) saw this scene, he
immediately lost control of the bike and fell onto the sand alongside the bike path. I
asked him what had happened. He responded, I was looking at The Kush Shop and I
lost my focus. What is Kush anyway? In a sudden state of shock I replied, I m not
sure, I think the sell souvenirs . I assumed that this was not the right time to educate
my brother regarding what I have learned about cannabis in health class. Once my
brother mounted his bike once more, I convinced him to ride as fast as he could in

Reflection Essays

  • 1. Reflection Essays Writing a reflection essay can be both a challenging and rewarding task. The difficulty lies in the subjective nature of the assignment, as it requires the author to delve deep into their thoughts, experiences, and emotions. Unlike more objective essays, reflection essays demand a level of introspection and self-analysis that can be uncomfortable for some. One of the challenges is finding the right balance between personal reflection and academic rigor. While the essay is inherently personal, it must also adhere to certain academic standards. Striking this balance requires careful consideration of language, tone, and structure. The writer must navigate the fine line between expressing personal insights and maintaining a scholarly tone. Moreover, the process of self-reflection itself can be demanding. It necessitates an honest examination of one's beliefs, values, and experiences. This introspective journey may unearth memories or emotions that are difficult to confront. Consequently, the writer may find themselves grappling with the vulnerability that comes with baring their inner thoughts to an audience. Additionally, articulating thoughts and feelings effectively in writing poses its own set of challenges. Finding the right words to convey emotions or complex ideas can be daunting. Crafting a coherent narrative that engages the reader while remaining true to the essence of the reflection requires a high level of writing skill. Despite these challenges, the reward lies in the opportunity for personal growth and self- discovery. A well-written reflection essay can serve as a powerful tool for introspection and can contribute to the writer's own understanding of themselves and the world around them. In conclusion, while writing a reflection essay may be challenging due to its subjective nature, the process can be immensely gratifying. It pushes writers to explore their inner selves and develop a deeper understanding of their experiences. The key lies in navigating the delicate balance between personal expression and academic rigor. And if you find yourself struggling with this or any other type of essay, you might consider seeking assistance. There are resources available, such asHelpWriting.net, where you can order various types of essays and receive expert guidance to make the writing process more manageable. • 2. Father Jack Flaherty Analysis A Saint in the Making: Father Jack Flaherty Priests can help you navigate your way through life because God s voice shines through them. Father Jack Flaherty is one of the most compassionate and driven priest I have ever met. He goes from parish to parish spreading God s love to everyone in need and goes above and beyond in making sure that everyone feels welcomed wherever they go. Due to his large time commitment, dedication to God and his parishioners, and his exemplary exhibition of heroic qualities, Father Jack is a hero One important aspect of Father Jack s life that makes him a hero is the large amount of time he commits to being a priest. Father Jack knew his calling was the priesthood, but he had no idea how much schooling went into it. According to Study.com, when becoming a priest men must go through three specific steps. First, they must earn a bachelor s degree in the fields of either philosophy, religious studies, or English ( Become a Catholic Priest: Step by Step Career Guide ). Then after careful reflection on their vocation, they need to study at a seminary, classes that prepare them for the priesthood by practicing preaching or studying church history by using their critical thinking skills ( Become a Catholic Priest: Step by Step Career Guide ). Lastly, they must become ordained, when the future priest receives holy orders, a sacrament, from another priest, during a Mass or a celebration of their own ( Become a Catholic Priest: Step by Step Career
  • 3. Super Soldiers And Super Soldier Experimentation Essay Super Soldier Experiments Going through life, at times, one would wonder how vast the greed of human beings is. Is it as dangerous as we think? Wanting something? Desiring something so much that you would risk everything you own and love? Is it as sinful as we are taught as kids to believe? All we have to do is take those desires and create something good out of it. However, when we desire something that affects the rights of other living things, it is extremely bad and these questions will all be answered with a solid Yes. . I will be sharing with you the opinion of many others whom are against such situations; situations such as super soldierexperiments. Butler discusses the diversity of people seen within the colonies that was not only unprecedented at the time, but is still not seen in some countries today. He states that by 1703 there was no ethnic or national majority within the colonies and that in certain areas, a majority could only be found by grouping together all white settlers. This meant that farms were not only producing enough to maintain their household, but were also producing excess crops and livestock that they were able to sell for profit. Farmers in the southern colonies were able to manipulate the economy by diversifying the amount of crops they grew in order to safeguard against price drops in certain crops due to excess

Through the loss, change, and pain Doug both experiences and views, he can always find happiness around him and in the life he lives. Doug experiences many instances of loss during his summer. Between the moving of his best friend to the death of his great grandmother, Doug s life becomes very different than it was before the summer began. These events may cause one to believe that Doug is unhappy with his life, however it is very much the opposite. By the end of summer, Doug is very optimistic about the next summer, saying next year s going to be even bigger, days will be brighter, nights longer and darker (Bradbury 235). Though the very small world of his has been flipped upside down within a few months, Doug is still happy and knows that things are only going to get better from here. One specific instance of Doug overcoming loss is when his best friend, John Huff, moves away. After Doug sees John for the last time, Doug blows up in a fit of rage screaming You, John! John, you re my enemy, you hear? You re no friend of mine! (Bradbury 111). This loss was very hard on Doug because he is very young, twelve years old, and hasn t had to deal with anything like this. After calming down, Doug moves on and is able to find joy in life in things such as going to the local ravine, writing revelations in his journal, and spending time with family. He becomes content with life once again. Change is another prevalent item in Doug s summer that some might believe could hinder his happiness. Many parts of his life that have always been there change over this

A long time ago the only thing that existed was animals called dinosaurs they were the only living things on planet earth. These dinosaurs were unique because they could talk, but nobody could understand them, it was like their secret code language. These dinosaurs lived a happy and healthy life until the small explosion changed the life of these dinosaures. Just a few miles away from eartha fight started between two planets called Sun and Moon. The argument was about who would shine more light on earth. The argument went to the point where they started to shoot fireballs at the moon and then the moon started to throw rocks at the sun. During the fight one the fireballs misses it s target (moon) and made its was towards the earth but apparently there was space ship traveling the universe full of aliens and the fireball came in its path which made space ship crashed on Earth including the huge fireball. The fireball was so powerful that it almost brought everything that came in its path such as rocks, asteroids and much more. • 26. Legal Prostitution in the United States Essay It is rather odd to think that prostitution, which is considered to be the world s oldest profession, would be illegal and harmful in nature. The issue of legalizing prostitution has entered public conversation around the world, which is severely divided. Many, like myself, consider prostitution to be a victimless crime. Despite such opposition to legalizing prostitution, many argue that legalizing it would result in decreased morality issues, increase the economic activity in the United States, and help decrease the number of sexually transmitted diseases among both prostitutes and those who patronize them, The most common argument against the legalization of prostitution is that it establishes sexual immorality. The United States nor virtually any other country has ever been plagued with the problem of too little population growth, also it is not a threat to institution of family. What is left of the moralist argument is that prostitution is wrong morally, only by the religious faith. This point cannot be logically rejected; it must simply be accepted or rejected as an assertive statement. Given that prostitution will continue to flourish in the United States, there are many people who do not accept the religious disapproval and many more who are not willing to pay for the enforcement of these religious rules. Another argument to legalize prostitution would to be to regulated it, and take the woman off the street and place her into a safe environment, for instance: women who are in brothels in Nevada are screened monthly for STD s and are given birth control. Sexually transmitted diseases are a major concern for the women as well as the men and should be a major reason why legalization of prostitution should be pushed. Legalized prostitution has shown that prostitutes who work in brothels practice safe sex and are less likely to contract and transmit STDs. As indicated in the article entitled, Prostitution : George Flint, director of the Nevada Brothel Association, points with pride to the 20,000 monthly AIDS tests that have been performed on legal prostitutes since tests were required in 1986, with HIV showing up only among job applicants. It can be anything from simple pamphlets to actually taking doctors out to dinners to persuade them. An enormous amount of money is spent on this marketing could go to other things, but it is instead used to influence people. It becomes less about the treating a condition and more about making a profit. It even gets to the point where pharmaceutical companies target the uneducated public and try to manipulate them. • 29. Drying Is A Mass And Heat Transfer Process Essay Chapter 1 : Introduction Drying is a simultaneous mass and heat transfer process that converts a liquid, solid or semi solid feedstock into a solid product having lower moisture content. This is usually done by applying heat to evaporate the liquid into a vapor phase. Sometimes drying takes place below the triple point of the liquid to be removed and the solid phase is directly converted to vapor phase via sublimation as in case of freeze drying. [1] As drying must involve a phase change of the liquid to be removed, it is considered as one of the most energy intensive unit operations. This is due to the high latent heat of vaporization, as well as, the inefficiency of using hot air as the most common drying medium. Hence, the operating cost of dryers represents their major cost item. Drying is an important process in many fields such as chemical, agricultural, ceramics and pharmaceutical industries. It may be done to have free flowing solids that are easy to handle, to facilitate the preservation and storage of different materials, to reduce the transportation costs or to achieve desired quality of products. [2] Regeneration of adsorptive beds is an important drying application. The operation of such beds includes three periods. During the first period adsorption takes place till breakthrough. This is followed by steaming period where live steam is blown through the bed to remove the adsorbate from the solid desiccant. In the third period; regeneration period, the hot, moist
