PAPER PLASTIC GLASS METAL
DID YOU KNOW?
When all types of materials are collected together, they are
often exposed to food residue and other particles
that soil the materials.
Recycling is most effective when the materials
are kept separate.
DID YOU KNOW?
To keep our recyclables clean, we will be
sorting each material by stream:
Cardboard
Commingled (Glass, Aluminum, Plastic)
Mixed Paper
Compost
MSW (landfill)
TIPS FOR
RECYCLING
PROPERLY
Rinse out the jars &
containers you recycle
1
Break down your cardboard
boxes to save space in containers
2
For tips on properly ‘breaking it down’.
When in doubt, throw it out
If you don’t know whether something
is recyclable or not, throw it in the landfill
container to avoid contaminating the rest of
the bin.
3
LOOK OUT FOR THESE COMMON CONTAMINANTS!
A single contaminated material can end up sending an entire
batch of recyclables to landfill!
LOOK OUT FOR THESE COMMON CONTAMINANTS!
Always do your best to avoid placing these items into the
recycling container(s):
X ELECTRONICS + SMALL APPLIANCES
X FOOD + LIQUID RESIDUE
X GREASY PIZZA BOXES
X PLASTIC BAGS
X HOSES, LIGHTS & EXTENSION CORDS
X USED NAPKINS, PLATES, CUPS, TISSUES
X NON-RECYCLABLE PLASTIC
X YARD WASTE
X STYROFOAM
X HAZARDOUS WASTE
X DISPOSABLE CUPS
X PLASTIC FILM
X COFFEE PODS
X CERAMICS
X PLASTIC STRAWS
X BROKEN GLASS
X TEXTILES
View the guide to avoiding common contaminants.
COLLECTION POINTS
When recycling, please place your materials in
the appropriate containers throughout the office.
Common collection points are near the kitchen, in the lobby,
and other high-traffic areas.
C O L O R M A T C H I N G
Z O N E S Y S T E M :
Each clean stream is labeled
with a color, which will be
used consistently to capture
these specific materials
at all points across the facility.

materials throughout the office:
ECO-AMBASSADORS
Staff and faculty play an important role in supporting, sustaining, and
analyzing the overall success of the recycling program.
Eco-Ambassadors are responsible for:
Serving as an educational resource for colleagues
Identifying new goals and objectives
Designing and enhancing the recycling program
Recruiting new participants
Reporting diversion and contamination instances
Updating educational signage
Leading training workshops
ECO-AMBASSADORS
If you’re interested in becoming an Eco-Ambassador, please
reach out after the training!
