PDHPE aims to develop students' knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes needed to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. It focuses on developing movement, problem-solving, communicating, decision-making, and interacting. While there is only 2 hours of physical activity per week in primary schools, PDHPE covers many everyday topics beyond just sport like growth, nutrition, safety, relationships, health and more to encourage healthy choices and community well-being.

4.  PDHPE is a key learning
area alongside subjects
such as English and Maths.
 In NSW primary schools,
there is only 2 hours of
timetabled physical activity
per week.
 5-12 year olds need at least
60 minutes of physical
activity outside of school
everyday. (Department of Health and
Ageing 2004)
