The Trump International Hotel & Tower

Veterans' Glass City Skyway Bridge
The Veterans' Glass City Skyway bridge in Toledo, OH opened in 2007. It features a unique 440 foot tall glass-faced pylon and innovative stay cradle technology. Background: Dated and In Need of a Revamp,
But It has to be Business as Usual...
BAA Airports Ltd. was tasked with the refurbishment of Terminal 1, a
40-year-old building within Heathrow Airport, the busiest international
airport in the world, whilst constantly keeping the terminal open to the 20
million annual travellers.
In 2004 BAA and the Star Alliance network, established in 1997 as the first
truly global airline alliance to offer worldwide reach and seamless service
to the international traveller, signed a memorandum of understanding that
would result in Star Alliance moving into Terminal 1 at Heathrow Airport.
Terminal 1 had previously been for short-haul European destinations only,
but the introduction of Star Alliance meant that international passengers
would now also be using the terminal.
This work was required to facilitate the move by a number of Star Alliance
airlines who were moving their operations from Terminals 2 and 3 to
Terminal 1. The successful completion of this project was the enabler for
the complete transformation of Heathrow Airport that is used by more than
90 airlines, which fly to more than 180 destinations worldwide.
As well as a commitment to completing the project within a very strict
deadline, health and safety issues were also a big concern given that the
project had to be delivered within a live operating passenger terminal. Any
interruption to the operation of the terminal building, and the stakeholders
or passenger experience would likely result in delays for the airlines
operating from Terminal 1 and as such, significant financial penalties for
BAA. Public and media perception of BAA would not be enhanced should
such a situation arise.
David Buisson, PMP, was chosen to lead the project. Mr. Buisson is a
certified project manager with more than 13 years experience of managing
complex and challenging projects by implementing the standards set out
by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) through A Guide to the Project
Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)—Fourth Edition.
Under his direction, a team of professionals from a variety of backgrounds
and industries tackled one of the most important transport projects in the
UK, keeping it ahead of its European competition.

BAA Airports Ltd. was tasked with the refurbishment of Terminal 1, a
40-year-old building within Heathrow Airport, the busiest international
airport in the world, whilst constantly keeping the terminal open to the 20
million annual travellers.
In 2004 BAA and the Star Alliance network, established in 1997 as the first
truly global airline alliance to offer worldwide reach and seamless service
to the international traveller, signed a memorandum of understanding that
would result in Star Alliance moving into Terminal 1 at Heathrow Airport.
Terminal 1 had previously been for short-haul European destinations only,
but the introduction of Star Alliance meant that international passengers
would now also be using the terminal.
This work was required to facilitate the move by a number of Star Alliance
airlines who were moving their operations from Terminals 2 and 3 to
Terminal 1. The successful completion of this project was the enabler for
the complete transformation of Heathrow Airport that is used by more than
90 airlines, which fly to more than 180 destinations worldwide.
As well as a commitment to completing the project within a very strict
deadline, health and safety issues were also a big concern given that the
project had to be delivered within a live operating passenger terminal. Any
interruption to the operation of the terminal building, and the stakeholders
or passenger experience would likely result in delays for the airlines
operating from Terminal 1 and as such, significant financial penalties for
BAA. Public and media perception of BAA would not be enhanced should
such a situation arise.
David Buisson, PMP, was chosen to lead the project. Mr. Buisson is a
certified project manager with more than 13 years experience of managing
complex and challenging projects by implementing the standards set out
by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) through A Guide to the Project
Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)—Fourth Edition.
Under his direction, a team of professionals from a variety of backgrounds
and industries tackled one of the most important transport projects in the
UK, keeping it ahead of its European competition.

Sky View Parc
An elevated platform was constructed on top of an existing parking structure in Flushing, New York in order to build two tennis courts and a multi-sport court. The existing parking structure had inappropriate slopes and weight restrictions that prevented adjusting the slopes through traditional means. The elevated platform used rigid foam insulation boards and plywood to adjust the slopes to suit tennis courts while staying within weight limits. A post-tensioned concrete slab was then constructed atop the platform to withstand the loads and movements of both the platform and underlying parking structure.
Glacier Skywalk
The Glacier Skywalk is a cantilevered glass walkway located 280 meters above the Sunwapta Valley in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. The 30 meter walkway juts 35 meters over the cliff edge, supported by trapezoidal steel box girders anchored to the cliff face. The structure required complex post-tensioning and anchoring both during and after construction to counteract forces trying to overturn the cantilever and provide stability. It offers visitors spectacular views of the unique Columbia Icefield ecosystem.
Fallingwater Residence
Built in 1937, the Fallingwater Residence stands to this day as one of the greatest architectural achievements of Frank Lloyd Wright. Over time, the structure has endured a number of structural issues, which included cracking and deflection at the cantilever terraces. To ensure its historic value, contractors used post-tensioning systems to rehab a portion of the deteriorating elements. Post-tensioning allowed for hidden repairs in the floor cavity between the girders, making rehabilitation virtually invisible from many viewpoints. With repairs completed in 2002, the post-tensioned systems used proved to be a durable solution for the Fallingwater residence.

San-Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge New East Span: Skyway
The Skyway project summary describes the construction of the longest section of the new East Span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. It involved replacing the original span damaged in the 1989 earthquake. The Skyway utilized innovative seismic design like hinge joints and piles driven 300 feet deep using offshore oil industry technology. San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Headquarters
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Headquarters project in San Francisco, California featured an innovative post-tensioned concrete design that replaced two structural steel designs and resulted in over $30 million in cost savings for the $200 million project. The post-tensioned concrete core shear walls provide superior seismic resilience allowing the building to self-center and be reoccupied with minimal damage after a large earthquake. The original design called for base isolation but budget constraints led to a redesign using vertically post-tensioned concrete shear walls and composite link beams that met goals of immediate reoccupancy, low cost, and reuse of the existing floor plan allowing the long-delayed project to be completed.
2201 Westlake/Enso
The 2201 Westlake/Enso building in Seattle combines residential condominiums, retail space, and office space into one building through an innovative structural design. The building uses a combination of post-tensioned slabs, high-strength concrete and reinforcement, and minimal interior columns to accommodate four different uses stacked vertically. This structural solution allowed for open floor plans while keeping construction costs within budget.

DEEP LEARNING FOR SMART GRID INTRUSION DETECTION: A HYBRID CNN-LSTM-BASED MODEL
As digital technology becomes more deeply embedded in power systems, protecting the communication
networks of Smart Grids (SG) has emerged as a critical concern. Distributed Network Protocol 3 (DNP3)
represents a multi-tiered application layer protocol extensively utilized in Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisition (SCADA)-based smart grids to facilitate real-time data gathering and control functionalities.
Robust Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are necessary for early threat detection and mitigation because
of the interconnection of these networks, which makes them vulnerable to a variety of cyberattacks. To
solve this issue, this paper develops a hybrid Deep Learning (DL) model specifically designed for intrusion
detection in smart grids. The proposed approach is a combination of the Convolutional Neural Network
(CNN) and the Long-Short-Term Memory algorithms (LSTM). We employed a recent intrusion detection
dataset (DNP3), which focuses on unauthorized commands and Denial of Service (DoS) cyberattacks, to
train and test our model. The results of our experiments show that our CNN-LSTM method is much better

A SYSTEMATIC RISK ASSESSMENT APPROACH FOR SECURING THE SMART IRRIGATION SYSTEMS
The smart irrigation system represents an innovative approach to optimize water usage in agricultural and landscaping practices. The integration of cutting-edge technologies, including sensors, actuators, and data analysis, empowers this system to provide accurate monitoring and control of irrigation processes by leveraging real-time environmental conditions. The main objective of a smart irrigation system is to optimize water efficiency, minimize expenses, and foster the adoption of sustainable water management methods. This paper conducts a systematic risk assessment by exploring the key components/assets and their functionalities in the smart irrigation system. The crucial role of sensors in gathering data on soil moisture, weather patterns, and plant well-being is emphasized in this system. These sensors enable intelligent decision-making in irrigation scheduling and water distribution, leading to enhanced water efficiency and sustainable water management practices. Actuators enable automated control of irrigation devices, ensuring precise and targeted water delivery to plants. Additionally, the paper addresses the potential threat and vulnerabilities associated with smart irrigation systems. It discusses limitations of the system, such as power constraints and computational capabilities, and calculates the potential security risks. The paper suggests possible risk treatment methods for effective secure system operation. In conclusion, the paper emphasizes the significant benefits of implementing smart irrigation systems, including improved water conservation, increased crop yield, and reduced environmental impact. Additionally, based on the security analysis conducted, the paper recommends the implementation of countermeasures and security approaches to address vulnerabilities and ensure the integrity and reliability of the system. By incorporating these measures, smart irrigation technology can revolutionize water management practices in agriculture, promoting sustainability, resource efficiency, and safeguarding against potential security threats.

referred to as the "New Great Game." This research centres on the power struggle, considering
geopolitical, geostrategic, and geoeconomic variables. Topics including trade, political hegemony, oil
politics, and conventional and nontraditional security are all explored and explained by the researcher.
Using Mackinder's Heartland, Spykman Rimland, and Hegemonic Stability theories, examines China's role
in Central Asia. This study adheres to the empirical epistemological method and has taken care of
objectivity. This study analyze primary and secondary research documents critically to elaborate role of
china’s geo economic outreach in central Asian countries and its future prospect. China is thriving in trade,
pipeline politics, and winning states, according to this study, thanks to important instruments like the
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the Belt and Road Economic Initiative. According to this study,
China is seeing significant success in commerce, pipeline politics, and gaining influence on other
governments. This success may be attributed to the effective utilisation of key tools such as the Shanghai

Project Highlights: • Design/construction team used a variety of post-tensioning repair techniques to provide the most environmentally responsible solution to the owner. • In the process, they had to overcome many misconceptions regarding PT repair, which they did in a methodical and professional manner. • The overall success of this project is a shining example of how the common myths of the impossibility of structurally modifying PT structures are unfounded. - 4. Project Overview: This project involved removing a significant portion of an existing post- tensioned airport parking structure to allow the airport owner to move a roadway closer to the parking structure. This would allow expansion of a terminal building that was landlocked by runway offsets and roadways. The portion of the structure removed was an 8 ft wide by 555 ft long cantilever. The project involved cutting through all 22 main post- tensioned (PT) beams, each of which had 11 unbonded PT tendons that had to be detensioned safely, repositioned to allow new anchorage, and restressed while keeping as much of the existing parking structure in operation as possible. With this strategy, the remainder of the parking structure could be saved and continue in service, thus producing the most environmentally responsible solution for the owner. The alternative was to tear down the entire existing parking structure and rebuild a new, somewhat smaller structure—a much more costly, wasteful option. - 5. Project Overview Continued: The initial discussions about the project included some typical misconceptions (myths) about PT structures. Some of the parties had serious doubts about successfully removing a significant portion of a PT structure while leaving the remaining portion intact. The engineering firm for the project battled this misconception by laying out a methodical plan to determine the most cost-effective yet practical method to use. In addition to all of the technical challenges and the important environmental impact of the project, the overall success of this project is a shining example of how the common myths concerning the impossibility of structurally modifying PT structures are unfounded.
