Differences between the Amazon and
Daintree rainforest.

Similarities Differences
 They are located in different places, the
Amazon Rainforest is in South America
however, the Daintree Rainforest is found
in Queensland at Cape Tribulation in
Australia.
 The Daintree Rainforest homes
Aboriginals and the Amazon Rainforests
homes Amerindians.
 Both of the Rainforests are different in
area: The Daintree Rainforest 1200
Square kilometres and the Amazon
Rainforest 5.5 million Square kilometres.
 The rainforests have different problems,
like the Amazon Rainforest has logging
issues for buildings and other things,
where as the Daintree Rainforest as it is a
World Heritage Site and a part of the
Daintree National park it does not have
logging problem but have issues with feral
pigs
• They are both tropical rainforests
near the equator.
• The climate in both the Daintree
and Amazon rainforests are hot,
humid damp and have lots of rain
through out the year.
• They both have the Emergent layer,
The Canopy , The Understory and
The forest floor.
• They both are protected rainforests,
the Amazon Rainforest is protected
by the WWF and the Daintree
Rainforest is protected by the
Daintree National Park.
• There is a river in both rainforests
which takes excess water to the
sea.

First of all the Amazon
river is 6,437 km long.
It is home to approximately
10 million species of
animals, plants and
insects.
It produces more than 20%
of the world’s oxygen.
The are about 3000
different edible fruits in the
rainforest.
The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the
world.

Daintree rainforest:
The are over 1200 different
types of insects in the
Daintree rainforest.
The Daintree Rainforest is the
oldest continuously surviving
tropical rainforest in the world,
thought to be the 165 million
years old.
It is home to 663 species of
vertebrate animals, 230
butterfly species, 135 dung
beetle species and 222
species of land snails.
The “Daintree” was named after the 19th
century Australian geologist and
photographer Richard Daintree.
One of the exotic fruits to try in the Daintree
is the Chocolate Pudding Fruit.
The Daintree Rainforest receives more than
400,000 visitors annually, from around the
globe.
