A list of national Radio Stations
BBC Radio 1. A youth orientated pop music and talk
radio station. Also has T.V Compatibility. Owned by
BBC.
BBC Radio 1xtra. A sister network to BBC Radio 1.
Consists of grime, hip-hop, urban music. Known for the
Fire in the booth series which demonstrates MC’s
talent by having them do a freestyle.
Classic FM. Like it says in the name consists of
classical music for those with a softer taste in music.
3. Local Radio Stations
A list of local radio stations in UK (London).
These are also commercial radio stations which
play adverts to fund for the networks.
Capital London: Also known as Capital FM. It
is owned by Global Radio and has an average
of 2.4 million listeners per day.
Heart FM: soft adult contemporary. Playing
artists such as Lionel Richie, Tina Turner and
Simply Red. With an average of 3-5 million
listeners daily.
4. BBC World Service
BBC World Service is the largest worldwide broadcaster.
Launched on the 19th of December in 1932.It is currently
funded by:
The UK Government.
Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Grant-In-Aid
As of 2014 it will be funded by the T.V licence fee’s.
It broadcasts 24 hours a day and does not advertise. It
broadcasts news, speeches, and discussions in 28
languages.
