Race Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Race Essays" can be both challenging and thought-provoking.
The complexity arises from the vast and intricate nature of the subject, which encompasses a
multitude of historical, social, cultural, and scientific dimensions. Exploring the concept of race
requires a comprehensive understanding of its evolution over time, the impact it has had on
societies, and the ongoing discussions about race and identity.
One of the challenges is navigating the sensitive and sometimes controversial aspects of the
topic. The history of race is deeply rooted in issues of discrimination, inequality, and power
dynamics. As a writer, addressing these issues with sensitivity and objectivity is crucial, while
also acknowledging the different perspectives that exist on the subject.
Furthermore, the interdisciplinary nature of race essays demands a thorough examination of
various academic disciplines, such as sociology, anthropology, history, and psychology. This
requires extensive research to provide a well-rounded and informed perspective. Sorting through
the myriad of theories and perspectives on race can be a daunting task, requiring a critical
analysis of scholarly articles, historical documents, and contemporary debates.
Crafting a coherent and compelling narrative that weaves together historical context, societal
implications, and current debates is another challenge. It requires the ability to synthesize
complex information into a cohesive argument, all while maintaining clarity and precision in
writing.
In addition to the intellectual challenges, there's the emotional aspect of addressing a topic that
can be deeply personal for many individuals. Being mindful of the potential impact of the essay
on readers and respecting diverse experiences and opinions is an essential aspect of the writing
process.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Race Essays" demands a combination of
research, critical thinking, sensitivity, and clarity. It's a task that requires careful consideration of
the historical context, social implications, and the evolving nature of the discourse on race.
Despite the difficulties, navigating this complex topic can lead to a more profound understanding
of the subject matter and contribute to the ongoing conversation surrounding race and identity.

Utopian Society Examples
Utopian Societies Do you know what s a utopian Society? A great example of an
utopian society is 2BR02B by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. On the other hand some people s
opinion differs ,they believe The Giver represents a better utopian community.
2BR02B represents a better quixotic society than The Giver. The best example of
an utopian society is 2BR02B. In the story it states, All diseases were conquered .
so was old age (Vonnegut pg: 1). As the quote suggest that in the story all of old
age was gone no one grew old and there was no illness at all this shows the society
is perfect because all of the harm was gone because one thing is guaranteed death, but
not in this society. According to Leora Duncan That sure is a beautiful picture , she...

In the Giver it states , It was considered rude to call attention to things that were
unsettling or different individuals. (Lowry pg. 26). In other words everyone is
getting along because there is no conflict with anyone because the judgement is
not present. However, even though they have a perfect trait for being kind and not
causing conflict, this doesn t mean they are perfect, their population has no control
and they usually end up breaking the rules. In the text Asher and the narrator states
, I apologize to my classmates and Everyone obeys (Lowry pg. 5 Back) . This
further explains that there is no conflict in The Giver and everyone has to
apologize in order to keep it that way. Everyone is to obey the rules no matter
what. These statements may be true but, when it says everyone obeys that is not
true because if so they wouldn t have been released because what s the reason to be
released if you so call follow the rules. Thus, proving that 2BR02B better represents.
2BR02B better emblematize a Utopian civilization than The Giver. An amazing
example of a utopian community is 2BR02B . Whereas some people believe The
Giver better represents. These stories affect people in believing these societies
shouldn t exist because of their perfectness going wrong and their harsh and not
humane
What Was The Failure Of The Peace Process
Another particularly significant consequence of the failure of the peace process was
the development of rapid changes among military relations. The guerrillas, as
previously explained, slowly increased their membership, largely to the credit of the
demilitarized zone. The paramilitaries developed during this time as well, actually
gaining dominance in coca, oil, and agro producing regions. This enabled the
paramilitaries to gain an upper hand in drugs and arms smuggling. Similarly,
government forces were increasing in size and strength, having benefitted from the
United Statesnewly implemented Plan Colombia.
The Colombian government s strategy shifted, however, as the United States

Thus amidst the crumbling peace talks from 1999 2002, the war in Colombia shifted
from a counternarcotics focused War on Drugs to a counterterrorism focused War on
Terror.
The Uribe Administration: 2002 2010
The failed peace talks officially concluded in 2002 following the FARC s hijacking
of a plane on which Senator Jorge Gechem Turbay was aboard. This proved to be
the last straw for the government, so the military reoccupied the demilitarized
zone this signified the conclusion of the peace talks. The Pastrana administration s
vision of peace, though initially directed by the public, had grown to be vastly
unpopular. Therefore the public elected President Uribe, who promised to conquer
the guerrillas as well as drug traffickers via military intervention by 2005. Further
than advocating military intervention, however, Uribe actively opposed peace talks
with guerrillas, arguing, it is impossible to negotiate with guerrilla groups that
have not shown any signs of ending their ongoing war against the Colombian state.
This was a popular position, given the fact that the FARC, throughout the entirety
of the failed peace process, had continued to wage war against the government,
killing thousands of civilians in their wake. Uribe s election was significant, as it
would be Colombia s only first round electoral victory of a third party candidate.
Uribe s victory was largely aided by Colombian s loss of faith in the peace process.

Colon cancer The large intestines are a part of the digestive system (Colorectal
cancer, 2015). The large intestines (large bowels) are made up of the colon and the
rectum (What is colorectal cancer, 2016). The colon is five feet long muscular tube
that makes up the majority of the large bowel (What is colorectal cancer, 2016). After
food goes through the small intestines, of the digestive system, the colon absorbs the
salt and water from the food that remains and the waste matter (feces) is the
byproduct (What is colorectal cancer, 2016). The feces is then expelled from the body
through the anus (What is colorectal cancer, 2016).

The localized stage is stage where cancer is only found in the part of the body
where it originated from (Surveillance, epidemiology, and end results program,

(Cancer in Virginia, 2014). The 2012 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System
(BRFSS) survey reported that 69% of Virginia adults age 50 or older reported that
they have had a colon cancer screening (Cancer in Virginia, 2014).
Guaiac based Fecal Occult Blood Test
The guaiac based Fecal Occult Blood Test (gFOBT) is a screening test for
colorectal cancer (A guide to FOBT, n.d.). The guaiac based Fecal Occult Blood
Test uses the chemical reagent guaiac to detect the presence of heme in stool (A
guide to FOBT, n.d.). Colorectal neoplasms can cause blood (heme) in the stool
because the blood vessels on the surface of colorectal cancer and/or colorectal
polyps have fragile blood vessels that are easily damaged when feces pass through
the large bowel (A guide to FOBT, n.d.). A small amount of blood from the fragile
colorectal polyps and cancer vessels merge with the stool (A guide to FOBT, n.d.).
The small amount of blood that is combined with the stool from the colorectal
polyps and cancer vessels is not visibly noticeable in the stool (A guide to FOBT,
n.d.). Consequently, Fecal Occult Blood Tests, such as gFOBT, can be used to
detect the small amount of blood that can be found in the stool if a person has
colorectal polyps or cancer (A
Re Evaluation Appointment Essay
A re evaluation appointment should be conducted four to six weeks after treatment
has concluded, to determine tissue response (PERIO BOOK PG 385). This time
frame is not exact for every patient, but a minimum of one month allows the tissues
time to heal, permitting the clinician to evaluate tissue changes, and eliminate any
local factors that may have been overlooked during the initial appointment. Like any
other appointment, the first step of a re evaluation appointment is to conduct a
medical history update to confirm that there had been no changes in health or
medications. Next, a complete periodontal assessment will be performed, reassessing
pocket depths, recession, bleeding on probing index, mobility, and furcation

Fidel Castro Influence
Fidel Castro is one of most famous communist dictators that ruled Cuba from 1959 to
2008 and made Cuba the first communist country in the Western hemisphere. Castro
is most known for his time in power where the relations between Cuba and the U.S.
were completely severed, which caused a complete trade embargo between the two
countries and almost resulted in nuclear war during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Some
scholars believe that Castro always sought out good relations with the U.S, but it was
through U.S. aggression that Castro was radicalized into communism and allied with
the Soviet Union whereas the other position held by scholars believe that Castro
always planned to sever relations with the U.S. in order to nationalize the Cuban

However, there is proof that this is false because in 1953, which were the early years
of the Cuban Revolution, Castro made a speech called History Will Absolve Me,
which shows that when Castro was a political prisoner he carried the teachings of
Marxism and Jose Mari everywhere and believed that the people of the revolution
were the workers and peasants that were exploited by the United States. Also, in
Castro s speech History Will Absolve Me, Castro already developed and laid down
five revolutionary principles that called for the nationalization of the Cuban
economy, which shows that Castro s writings in 1953 matched his writings later on
about his formative years. This shows that in the early stages of the Cuban
revolution that Castro s ideological beliefs of nationalism found in Marxism and
Jose Marti, match the writings in his later life about his formative years where
Castro claimed that he was always a
Modern Day Black Woman Analysis
Black women of America through time have stood faced with the loss of virtue and
individuality. They have had countless obstacles placed before them in their attempt
to obtain freedom: mentally and physically. Although the journey for freedom is still
underway, the effort has gained more progress than ever before. The photographer of
this image is conveying the message that the modern day black woman in America
has the ability to experience freedom in environments that in the past have been
symbolically and literally oppressive using color, setting, and symbolism. Colors
often hold significance and meaning in certain visual contexts. They evoke emotions
in the viewer that aid in the overall meaning of an image. The color blue can have

James H. Cone s God Of The Oppressed
James H. Cone s God of the Oppressed is his examination of the origin,
development, and significance of black theology as it relates to how he and the
black Christian community view God. For Cone, in an America seemingly
dominated by white theology and the white Christian community s views of God, it
is imperative to acknowledge and attentively listen to the voices of the theologies of
other races and what Godmeans to them, especially that of the black community.
Cone asserts without hesitation that the God that is referred to in the Bible and
black religion is a Deliver of those held captive by the bondage of oppression. Cone
not only asserts this viewpoint of God as the Freer of oppressed people, but he
validates this assertion through the use of Scripture, the black experience, history,
and tradition. Overall, the central theme of this book is that a plethora of factors
continually shape and construct a people s theologyand how that theology is
significant in regards to how they see God, the world, and themselves.
In the eyes of Cone, two of the most foundational factors that help to shape a person
s theology and their image of God is their identity and experiences. In the Preface
of God of the Oppressed, Cone quickly identify himself as black (one who lives the
black experience). Given that the black experience is one of struggle, he sheds light
on his identity and his experiences in order to explain why he reads and interprets the
Bible through the perspective of

illustrate a way to cluster similar news articles based on their term frequency. We will
using python and nltk to recognize keywords and subsequently using hierarchical

Aggregation means clustering like documents from different sources. There is fast

can be considered a multilateral platform of interconnection [1]. In principle, news
aggregators can be a substitute or a complement to the news outlets who invest in the
creation of news stories. A policy debate centers around the decrease in the incentives
for news creation that results if readers choose to consume their news through
aggregators without clicking through to the news websites or generating any revenue
for the outlets [2]. Getting these two ideas in perspective our ideas is to get a small

Living On Campus Vs. Living Off Campus
College students have multiple options when it comes to deciding where they
would like to live while they are attending school. Students have the choice to live
on campus in a dorm or live off campus. Deciding where to live when attending
college can sometimes be a difficult process because there are a lot of things to
consider whether if it s the environment, the people, or even the cost. Both living on
campus and living off of the campus has its pros and cons, but it is entirely up to the
student, each student has a different situation and the decision made should be
thoroughly thought out. Personally, I feel that living on campus may be the best
option for most collegestudents since it is more beneficial for students and their needs.
Becoming a young adult can be difficult, it is a stage where being independent is
very important. Some students who are living off campus will state that it is a
great feeling to have a place of their own, they feel as if they are more independent
because they can create their own rules and live as they please. When living off of
campus students are given more privacy, because in a dorm students have to share a
room with at least one other person. Students are able to personalize their own living
space with the decor of their own choosing. Not only does the student gain
independence, but they will also become more responsible. Living off campus is
thought as paying a monthly rent and other utilities, so the student will have to work a
Financial Markets
A.In finance, the financial system is the system that allows the transfer of money
between savers (and investors) and borrowers.[1] A financial system can operate on a
global, regional or firm specific level. Gurusamy, writing in Financial Services and

financial institutions, markets, instruments, services, practices, and transactions.
Functions performed by a financial system are :

With primary issuances of securities or financial instruments, or the primary market,
investors purchase these securities directly from issuers such as corporationsissuing
shares in an IPO or private placement, or directly from the federal government in the
case of treasuries. After the initial issuance, investors can purchase from other
investors in the secondary market.
The secondary market for a variety of assets can vary from loans to stocks, from
fragmented to centralized, and from illiquid to very liquid. The major stock
exchanges are the most visible example of liquid secondary markets in this case, for
stocks of publicly traded companies. Exchanges such as the New York Stock
Exchange, London Stock Exchange and Nasdaq provide a centralized, liquid
secondary market for the investors who own stocks that trade on those exchanges.
Most bonds and structured products trade over the counter, or by phoning the bond
desk of one s broker dealer. Loans sometimes trade online using a Loan Exchange.
Function
In the secondary market, securities are sold by and transferred from one investor or
speculator to another. It is therefore important that the secondary market be highly
liquid (originally, the only way to create this liquidity was for investors and

democrat and republican parties Essay
The Democratic Party at its worst is better for the country than the Republican Party
at its best. This was a statement made by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1955. Lyndon B.
Johnson of course was a Democrat. Is this quote true today? That is a question that
can only be answered after a careful analysis of the philosophy of the Republicanand
Democratic leaders that help to run this nation.
Neither of the two major parties is made up of people who are all of one mind. Each
party is a coalition of many people with diverse interests who come together to get
their candidates elected to public office. (Political Science textbook) If this is the

Republicans want to limit the number of social programs and encourage the
individual states to be more active in their own social welfare. Democrats feel that
more government is better, where the Republicans feel that the individual states
should have more power. Democrats favor gun control legislation most of the time.
Republicans do not seem as interested in that issue, and many Republicans can be
viewed as pro gun advocates. Democrats favor affirmative action for minorities and
women. Republicans favor helping the entrepreneur and tend to give tax breaks to
big business. Democrats champion the cause of labor unions, while Republicans
realizing that union votes are important, at the same time feel that labor unions have
too much power and cost big business too much money. The next set of political
differences about the issues of capital punishment and abortion rights are quite
paradoxical. Democrats favor a woman s right to choose, at the same time they are
against the death penalty and want to rehabilitate prisoners. Republicans, many of
them are pro life as well as in favor of capital punishment and being tough on crime.
Democrats want the government to be more involved in public education, and want
more money dispersed for student loans. Republicans want the states to take the
responsibility for educating their children and also want to provide vouchers as an
alternative to public school. This issue is also tied to how Republicans are

Some examples are white sand on the coliseum floor, gold and brown coliseum
walls, and red rose petals falling around Maximus. Without this use of colour change
the audience would find it more difficult to tell that the hero experienced a radical
journey from a general to a slave to a gladiator, then a hero. As the trailer begins,
slow images combined with Written Words are used to give the target audience time
to familiarise themselves with the story of Maximus. For example the first few shots
are of Russell Crowe as a general, then a slave, then a gladiator. This makes it clear
to the audience who the main character is and helps to set the scene. Then the
images start to become faster and more exciting. This is achieved by using rapid
cuts which increases the viewer s excitement. For example the viewer now sees
images of sword fights, fierce tigers and overturned chariots. A shot of a chariot
overturning and the image of a horse jumping through flames have also been
included, but slowed down because they are exciting stunts and the director doesn t
want the audience to miss them. Also by encapsulating a shot of Commodus
screaming at his sister the audience can tell that the film will be dramatic. By making
the scenes faster and more violent, the director has gripped the audience so they will
go and see the film. Another important element of the trailer is the sound. Throughout
the trailer tense, exciting music is played to draw the
Gdp Composition of India
India GDP Composition Sector Wise
The Gross Domestic Product or GDP is the indicator of the performance of an
economy. According to the estimates of 2008, India s GDP is $1.209 trillion and
this is slated to make improvement in the coming times. It is estimated that India s
GDP will grow by 6.5% in the year 2009. In 2008 the country s GDP was 9%; the
slowdown that has been witnessed this year in the estimates is largely due to the
slowdown witnessed by the agriculture and the industrial sectors. A look at the India
GDP composition sector wise throws up some interesting figures. The agriculture
sector contributed 17.2%; industry contributed 29.1% while the service sector had a
contribution of 52.7% according to 2008 estimates.

Age Of Nuclear Power Essay
The American people found themselves beholding a new heaven and a new earth,
to which they somewhat dazedly tried to adjust themselves (Boyer, 2000). America
was entering the Age of Nuclear Power . The first full scale test of atomic energy
was conducted in 1945. The application of this new technology was not used for the
purpose of human advancement, but for the purpose of human destruction through
the implosion of an atomic fission bomb exploded in a remote section of New
Mexico (Groves, 1945). While this explosion was a test and had no direct human
casualties, the purpose was for the future use during the Second World War against
the Empire of Japan. The explosion was beyond expectations; the effects could be
seen for over a hundred miles. The overwhelming consensus was that they had all
witnessed and been present for the birth of a new age, The Age of Atomic Energy

The Battle Of The Somme
(1) The Battle of Somme The Battle of the Somme started in 1916 in the month of
July and ended in the month of November and was the British and the French on
one side vs the Germans on the other. It was an offensive type of battle . The
British and the french got around 7 miles of ground and lost thousands of men in
the process of the battle. It is considered one of the largest and bloodiest battles of
WWI. The French and the British had agreed on a bunch of plans to attack the
Central Powers . The majority of the battle was the French army. On the first day
of the battle the germans were beat and were forced out of their positions. The
battle was also the first battle that planes and tanks was used . When the battle had
ended, the British and the French gained around 6 miles of German territory. (2)
Airplanes, Gas, And Tanks Three popular weapons of WWI are airplanes, gas, and
tanks. Airplanes were sometimes made out of canvas, wood, or wire. They were
made at first to only spot enemy troops from above until the Germans got the idea to
arm planes with machine guns. The countries that were allies of the Germans also
armed their airplanes with machine guns . The Germans also were the first to use
gas in any type of war. At first
Hesiod The Creation Analysis
The repetition of circles and spheres in the image is the most intriguing and likely
among the most important repetitions in the image, particularly the spheres. The
large sphere in the background resembles the frame of a globe, as in the world. The
sphere that hangs from the deity s sickle explicitly resembles the Earth(our world, not
the deity), complete with engraved continents. This particular sphere almost
explicitly states that the spheres in the image refer to our world. Now, turning
back to the golden frame of a globe in the background, we will notice that it appears
to have fallen. Because we know that we are talking about our world, it can be
inferred that in the image, the world has fallen or is falling. Could this be the end of...

Her significance is revealed to us in the very beginning. In Hesiod s words, she is
the ever sure foundation of all the deathless ones who hold the peaks of snowy
Olympus, . This, of course, means that she is the ancestor to all the gods of Mount
Olympus, who are important beings, to say the least. Now, imagine how a mother
could conceive so many children of such power and importance. One of the most
intriguing strands in the piece is the referring to Earth as wide . This occurs on
two occasions: Earth is introduced first as wide bosomed Earth, and is then
referred to as wide pathed Earth when she bore Tartarus. While she is referred to as
wide bosomed , the significance of her recurring label of wide likely does not lie
with her physical shape, but rather with her role. She has a large role in the
Creation. She starts as one of the only beings in existence, along with Chaos. She
then spawns two children, Pontus and Heaven. She made Heaven equal to herself,
and mated with him to produce her future offspring. However, Heaven was cruel
with his children and locked them away upon birth, and Earth herself could not
defy him outright. She plotted against them using her children, and her son Cronos
took action. When Heaven came down on Earth one night, Cronos sprang from
her womb and attacked his father. The blood that came forth from the
dismembering of Heaven s members impregnated Earth, and she bore more
children. Her offspring went on to live as beings known as the Titans, and as we
know, the Titan Cronos proceeded to give birth to Zeus, king of the Olympian gods.
By interpreting it this way, Earth may have nearly single handedly brought about the
Creation. This may be the focused tale that is hidden amidst the obscurity, and the
one that Hesiod may have been trying to convey. Earth certainly did have a wide
role in the proceedings, and the recurring use of wide to describe her may have been
Mauritanians Research Paper
Prior to colonization by the French, Mauritania was a land that was inhabited by
two populations. The Moors and the Mauritanians. The Moors descended from the
Berbers who came from North Africa and they speak Hassaniyya Arabic, which is a
dialect of Arabic. They are of the Muslim religion and make up about 70 percent of
the population. The other 30 percent of the population comes from the black
Mauritanians.1 The Mauritanians contain sub groups of people known as the
Soninke, Wolof, Fulani, and Bambara. Although some of these sub groups are
scattered throughout Africa they are also present, be it in a large percentage or small,
in Mauritania. Like the Moors, the Mauritanians are Muslim as well.

always been steady but really grew with two key events. One was when the Yemeni

Major Personality Differences Between Baldwin And
Basinger
There were some major personality differences between Baldwin and Basinger.
Alec is an extrovert, whereas Kim is an introvert. The Myers Briggs personalities
for Baldwin and Basinger show major differences as well. Kim Basinger is an
INTP logician and Baldwin is an ESTP Entrepreneur. Both personality types have a
tendency for insensitiveness and a lack of agreeableness, both of which can put
strain on a relationship. Kim and Alec both come across as very neurotic and both of
them have been reported to call the other narcissistic. (socion2.narod.ru, n.d.)

She relied very heavily on the advice of her lawyers during their divorce, rather
than trying to settle things more personally with Baldwin. I believe that in their
case, the wrong kind of mediator was brought in to help them settle their disputes.
(ABC News, 2008) I believe that while lawyers were necessary to some degree, it
is very likely they manipulated the situation to gain more money. A better mediator
to start with would have been a couples counselor. If Baldwin and Basinger both
had sat down with a relationship/marriage counselor and discussed their issues,
even though they might still have gotten divorced, I believe it might have been
made less painful and more productive. As it was, there was a lot of anger and
disagreeableness surrounding their divorce, as well as a rather hostile climate in
which to attempt conflict resolution. I also believe that a lot of the issues with their
relationship were caused by a great deal of self centeredness. I believe that they
both were so concerned with their own wants and need that they could not find
common ground. They were also very unwilling to compromise and had more
dominating approaches to handling conflict. This made it very hard for them to
reach a positive conclusion to their conflict. The best alternatives I could imagine for
their situation are as follows. 1.) ideally, the two of them never get married to each

Interview With A Graphic Designer
I have chosen these questions to ask my Interviewee Neville Brody who is a very
famous Graphic Designer who is well respected in his field and internationally
known because I feel it is very important to understand the thought process that
goes into designing some of the worlds best pieces of work ever created. I would
like first hand knowledge coming from Brody himself and not any online articles
or journals that I might have read up on. The thought process of design thinking is
a very independent thing, you can only learn by repeatedly attempting day after
day of new methods of research and how you apply them to your idea. I feel that a
lot of people such as fresh students who seek guidance, also young graduates and
even sometimes professional graphic designers who have been seen as an expert
in their field lack the knowledge of understanding a great design thinking strategy
or need aide in this domain. Design thinking is all about the design specific skills
that a designer applies during the process of designing, not specifically needing to
be a graphic designer as this thought process can be applied to a lot of people in the
creative industries such as interior and exterior designers, game designers and even
architects. Design thinking has now come to be characterised as fusing the
appreciation of other designers and people that can produce beautiful projects and
incorporating it into your own work. It s the imaginative concept and the coherence

efficient, high quality radiology department will increase patient satisfaction as a
result of its ability to improve patient care. Regardless of whether the organization is
for profit or nonprofit, a well ran radiology department immensely increases a
hospital s profitability.
Historically, a radiology manager has been someone with excellent technological
experience and business acumen. However, this is not enough any more. Today, in
addition to being technologically savvy, they must have surpassed communication
skills to relentlessly motivate staff to produce at maximum capacity. After a generous

and coordinates all activities of the department and oversees the operations. He
reviews work schedules and assigns duties to workers to maintain the patient flow
and achieve production goals. Moreover, he evaluates the accuracy and quality of
images, provides technical assistance to staff, all the while demonstrating new
techniques, equipment, and procedures to personnel. The role truly requires a
wide degree of creativity and latitude. It was short after my first couple questions

however, four special admissions slots remaining, but Bakke was ineligible for

Havn Fun Family Entertainment Center (HFFEC) is in the industry of Family
Entertainment Centers also known as FECs. Family entertainment is a very
profitable business because families are always looking for affordable local facilities
to enjoy their time together. We want to help restore the broken bond between
families caused by many outside forces, the busyness of life, and common
distractions that drive them apart. We plan to make fun cool again. Starting out in
Beaumont, Texas we have the advantage of entering into a place where strong family
values are important. As a child growing up in this city I remember there were
many places to go to have fun. Places like Putt Putt Golf, a skating rink that was off
Highway 105 where after the skating stopped at midnight it would turn into a dance
floor where people could dance, mingle, have good clean fun until they closing time.
There were also a small amusement parkwith children s amusement park, rides and
games. There was also a Go Kart riding place for families to just ride around the
track laughing and smiling. After moving away from Beaumont, I moved into bigger
cities where I saw family fun on a greater level. Visiting six Flags in Atlanta
introduced me to plenty of fun, excitement, and amusement on a grand scale.
We want to bring that same kind of family oriented fun, love, and excitement to the
city of Beaumont. We will have some of the latest technology in the Family

New Woman Fictions
Introduction
The final two decade s of the Victorians age eyewitnesses the origin of a shift in
social s attitude s regarding s genders connection, which is noticeable by a steady
move away from the arrangement of paternal male predominance and female reliance
toward the moderns patterns of gender equitability. One of the demonstration of this
movements is the appearance of the New Woman fictions.
The Woman Question
The Woman Question, relievo by Mary Wollstonecraft in her leaflet, A Vindication of
the Rights of Woman (1792), effected the mid and late Victorian feminists. In the
1850s, Harriet Martineau prolonged forcibly the Woman Question discussion in her
polemical writings. She advised upper class women to obtain a real teaching and
occupation in order to make themselves economically free. Charlotte Elizabeth Tonna
distribute with the Woman Question in her volume The Wrongs of Woman. She
censored women s industrial occupation and cultivated native feminism. Frances
Trollope and Elizabeth Gaskell advised upper class women to grows active in the
common sphere. Charlotte BrontГ« and George Eliot censured communal
marginalisation of women.
An amount of Victorian feminists, counting Emily Davies, Frances Power Cobbe,
Josephine Butler, Barbara Leigh Smith Bodichon and Millicent Garrett Fawcett,
resuscitated the Woman Question discussion in their crusade for women s rights,
counting the right to higher learning, property, employment and franchise. The

Two Associated Systems
Two Associated Systems:
Two associated systems with the eye are the nervous and muscular systems. The
eye is a part of the nervous system because it is responsible for sending, receiving,
and processing information sent through the nerve impulses. The optic nerve is a
part of the eye and part of the central nervous system. As humans, we see something
through our eyes and react to it. If we see someone is going to hit us, we flinch. If
we are reading something, or seeing a picture, we see it and process it. By seeing
the world through our eyes, it allows us to react and process our surroundings. The
eyes are also associated with the muscular system; it has a special system of muscles
that allow the eyes to move. Movements of the ciliary muscles ... Show more content

If you are born with it, you will have to live with it. However, there is medical
research going on to try to cure color blindness. They are using gene therapy on
monkeys to get them to see color. Researchers hope that one day this will help
humans too. Gene therapy helps repair the damaged chromosome that causes color
blindness. If color blindness is caused by something else; like an injury to the eye, old
age, glaucoma, or certain medication side effects, you must treat the underlying cause
to fix the non genetic colorblindness.
Prevention of Diseases: To prevent glaucoma a person should first off know about
their family history. If glaucoma runs in the family, a person can be more likely to
develop it. Some other preventative measures are to go to the eye doctor regularly,
take prescribed eye drops, wear eye protection, and exercise safely. In order to
prevent corneal disease one must avoid smoke, wear protective eye gear, take
frequent breaks from computer use, eat food that promote eye health (leafy greens
and fish), and have the eyes screened regularly. By following these preventative
measures, not only can a person reduce the chance of getting this disease, but they
can also support good eye
Free Wi Fi Is An Impressive Method For Retaining And...
Free Wi Fi is an impressive method for retaining and attracting customers.
Additionally, everyone wants free Wi Fi, especially when mobile social networking
has tremendously grown over the past decade. Therefore, due to the explosion of
mobile devices, consumers are now more connected than ever. Thus, they have come
to expect businesses to offer free Wi Fi. Further, free Wi Fi can be an effective
businessstrategy, and has proven to be a competitive advantage for a company that
decides to offer it. However, first a business must decide if the service is going to
be free to all, free to only a select few, or a monthly charge. Consequently,
businesses that decline to offer the free service, are at risk of declining foot traffic
and sales. Although some of the businesses that decide to offer free Wi Fi, may
discover that the service can, increase brand awareness, increase the time that a
customer spends on the premises, and increase foot traffic, which in turn, can
translate into sales. Free Wi Fi is currently available at some public and private
businesses. However, a consumermay decide not to frequent a business that does not
offer the free service, instead, choosing to shop at a business that does. Nevertheless,
offering free Wi Fi can produce additional benefits and advantages for a business. For
example, the business can ensure that the company s website is the home page of the
connection, share real time offers, and create business specific ads. Ultimately,

When Mark Cuban was 12, he sold garbage bags door to door to pay for a pair of
expensive basketball shoes he wanted. Cuban is now an extremely successful
entrepreneur with a net worth of about 2.6 billion dollars. His fortune came mainly
from a business he created called Broadcast.com, originally Audionet, which he
sold to Yahoo! for 5.7 billion. He now owns the Dallas Mavericks NBA team and
stars on Shark Tank. After making a comment about a referee that he wouldn t hire
to manage a Dairy Queen, Cuban went to work at one for a day. Mark Cuban is an
admirable person because he is determined to make money and is charitable towards
people who need his help, and leads his companies through the hard economic times.

I can see this principle in action from what he says about politics. In an interview
with Business Insider, he says, I don t want to be a Democrat. Until things change,
I ll sit in the middle and think for myself. Unlike the Republicans. When I was
young, my mom always told me to be a leader, not a follower. Cuban directly
explains this concept from what he says. He will not believe what everyone says
just to fit in, he will tell then what he thinks. And if they won t let him join their
party because of it, so be it. Just like other great leaders such as Martin Luther
King, Jr and Abraham Lincoln, he isn t afraid to say I disagree . Another way he
shows that he understands how to be a leader is in another quote from the same
interview. He states, Leaders are not dogmatic. They are principled and know that
change is never easy, but when it s necessary, they must lead. Nobody can
understand principles unless they themselves are principled. Cuban also reveals
his leadership through the way he runs his companies. There are a lot of
companies that are under his authority, such as the Dallas Mavericks, AXS TV,
Landmark Theatres, and Magnolia Pictures (markcubancompanies.com). He doesn
t appoint CEOs, so he himself does a lot of work. Mark Cuban s personality is full
of principles that every billionaire should have. He is determined to make money.
He uses his wealth for good instead of evil. Cuban also isn t afraid to tell people

Women During World War 2 Essay
During World War II, the percentage of women in the workforce from 1940 to 1945
increased from 27% to 37%, which includes 350,000 women who served in the
armed forces. Most women had to get jobs due to the men having to fight in the
war. Women took jobs as nurses, engineers, chemists, photographers, message
decoders, spies, made airplanes and atomic bombs, and most of them, about 84%
worked in factories. The opportunity for women to get jobs allowed them to get
paid good money and gain job skills. For example, Lieutenant Elsie S. Ott was an
air nurse who helped with the transportation of wounded soldiers from India to
Washington D.C. so the soldiers could receive help. This was Elsie S. Ott s first
time riding in an airplane and caring for hurt soldiers, and she had no proper
training with transporting wounded soldiers. Lieutenant Elsie S. Ott was given not
only proper nurse training, but also was given the Air medal. She was the first
woman to get such a medal. Then, Margaret Bourke White was a photographer and
became the first female photographer for LIFE magazine. She took pictures of
events that happened during World War II and she was the first female to ride in the
airplane with a military combat crew. Further, during World War II, there were

Shutter Island Movie Review
In our society, almost all of us take a person only for face value. Rarely do we ever
look past the actions of a person and actually consider their motives or mental state.
This is most likely because doing so requires a lot of understanding and knowledge of
the phenomena of the human mind. This is where Psychology and Psychiatry come
into play. Through these fields of study we are able to expand our knowledge and
understanding of the inner works of the human mind. It s crazy if you think of it
this way; but we just use our brains to study themselves, I mean what better way
better way is there? Unfortunately, in this field of study this kind of logic has been
taken to the extremes many times. In the past, psychological research ranged from
simple personality tests to experiments in isolated institutions for the mentally
unstable. Nowadays, it would be hard to find good examples of this but thanks to
modern day media we are able to see this extreme kind of research in full HD with

Sexism As A Scientist Or Engineer
In the long history of sexism in science, technology, engineer and mathematics
(STEM), women have been discrimination of being unfit or not apprehensiveness
enough for being a scientist or engineer by men who have high doubtful on women or
mocking women working as an engineer that they would destroy something.
Determining or judging the action of the genderin different position and the thinking
of discrimination from the superior race or gender to the lesser is what it called sexism
. Sexism is most common in science and engineer especially women is the most
affected.
In my desired job position in the world of Biotechnology, I have an inferior

something that seems not right. I don t see any women in the lab, just men. I asked

The Effects Of Child Labor On The Chocolate Industry
The Effects of Child Labor in the Chocolate Industry: December 6, 2015, was an
important day for many Americans, as it marked the 150th year since the abolishment
of slavery when the U.S. authorized the 13th Amendment to the Constitution to end
what can be described as the darkest chapter of American history. Many in Western
Society seem to be unaware of the contemporary slavery still plaguing many
developing countries, particularly involving children. The 2010 documentary film
called The Dark Side of Chocolate explored the modern day slavery that is occurring
within many West African countries, where children are being exploited and
trafficked in order to harvest chocolate. In fact, the United States Department of State
estimates that approximately 109,000 children in the Ivory Coast s cocoa industry
work under the worst forms of child labor (Mustapha, 2010, p.3).
By exploring the use of child labor in the chocolate industry in West Africa, this paper
will present the argument where I will argue that the unethical use of child labor has
led to impoverished families, negative health impacts among children, and has
affected economies in West Africa. In order to overcome this situation, there is a need
for enforced policies, government action, and corporations taking accountability in
order to put an end to child labor. The first part of the paper will discuss how the
cocoa industry affects families, the health of child laborers, and the economy,
followed by various

In today s world, a more common and modern form of baby transport is the stroller.
These strollers allow parents to stay close to their kids in the most comfortable
manner.
The InStep Safari Double Swivel Stroller, with its front wheel manual locking,
allows you to navigate through several terrains. Unlike other strollers out there,
this swivel stroller gives its rider full control and a firm grip. Speaking of firm grips,
this stroller comes with a slip resistant grip component made of rubber. Even if you
are an overly protective parent, you can be rest assured, that whoever is driving your
baby has a firm grip.
Some babies are born to be adventurous and this means they just love to be out of
the house. Carrying the baby on the body can sometimes be physically exhausting.
With this swivel stroller, you get to take baby to see the world and also save some
strength for other pressing baby matters if you know what I mean!

The Encoding of Contextual Fear Conditioning
The formation of new memories requires protein synthesis dependent changes in
synaptic structure and plasticity in the hippocampus. Studies in humans and animals
suggest that these memories are initially stored in hippocampus but later transferred
to cortex for permanent storage. This phenomenon is described as systems
consolidation of memories. While the specific role for new proteinsynthesis in
hippocampus in early encoding of memories is established, whether protein synthesis
in medial prefrontal cortex play a major role in encoding of memories is unclear. To
address this question, we used contextual fear conditioning (CFC) of mouse, a
behavior training that induce long lasting memories. A single training session
produces robust lifelong memory(8) that can be measured using automated procedures
(9). Several studies have used CFC training as a model to study hippocampal cortical
communications and mechanisms underlying systems consolidation of memories.
Contextual fear memories are initially stored in hippocampus and then moved to
medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) for long term storage.
We assume that if encoding of contextual fear memories require protein synthesis at
both hippocampus and PFC, we will be able to identify translationally active mRNAs
in hippocampus and PFC. Because RNAs associated with polyribosomes indicate
translational activation, we first isolated polyribosomes from mPFC and
hippocampus at two time points (one hour and six hours, hereafter T1 and T2
Animal Jealousy In Animals
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that animals become jealous too, just like humans.
Going beyond tales exchanged by pet owners, scientists are now studying and
identifying emotions in animals.
Live Science noted that research is beginning to suggest that jealousy in a primordial
emotion that people and some animals share. But for the jealousy to be felt, the person
or the animal must have the cognitive ability to recognize the importance of a
relationship and to assess potential threats to that relationship which is a tall order for
some animals.
Inborn emotion
According to studies, infants as young as six months old showed jealousy when their
mothers interacted with another baby which was actually a realistic looking doll.
The situation suggested that jealousy is an inborn emotion that is not learned and it
had evolved to protect any type of social relationship from interlopers. It may also
exist in other social animals.
Animal experts now believe that dogs, for instance, become jealous when their
owners give too much attention to a rival animal. Dogs were more likely to snap
and push their owners if the pet felt it was being excluded for the affection, according
to University of California researchers.
Professor Christine Harris, the lead researcher, said that the study suggested it is not
only dogs that engage in what seems to be jealous behaviors. The pets also seek to
break up the connection between the owner and its perceived rival.
She noted that many
Law Of Non-Contradiction By Alan Darley Analysis
In Alan Darley s article Does Aquinas Notion of Analogy Violate the Law of Non
Contradiction? he hopes to respond to Pickstocks claim that St. Thomas concept of
analogy violates the law of noncontradiction. He does this through answering three
specific questions. The first question: Did Aquinas intend that his notion of analogy
be understood as violating the law of non contradiction? The answer is, of course not.
Darley points out that St. Thomas agrees strongly with the Aristotelian epistemic
foundational concept of the law of contradiction. He further points out that Aquinas
does not hold this for merely created things, but also the Creator. For He Who Is
cannot be He who is not. The ineffable nature of Godas the transcendent one cannot
contradict the laws of being for He is Being. His nature cannot contradict reason for
He is Truth. St. Thomas, according to Darley, then moves to Scripture as evidence
that God cannot break a fundamental law of His own Being. After going through the
writings of Thomas, and various other Thomist, Darley concludes his argument by
saying that analogical language of God does not break... Show more content on

The approach serves as both a critique of Pickstock s argumentation, a clarification of
St. Thomas, and an explanation of St. Thomas s teaching on analogy. Besides
conveying concisely that Aquinas upholds and affirms the law of noncontradiction in
his writings, Darley also articulates that the law of noncontradiction is a result of God
being transcendent Being. God is He who gives finite beings their being. Two insights
I found especially compelling are: the notion that the law of identity for creatures,
which is based in the law of noncontradiction, is analogous to the Tetragrammaton and
that the law of noncontradiction participates in He Who Is Being. These insights
represent a statement about the core principles of understanding having their root in
the Creator of all
Philadelphia Convention Essay
The main idea of the article is how there are now groups that want to alter the
constitution through a convention that includes all 50 states of the U.S. This idea is
mainly being pushed by conservatives that are being financially backed by supporters
such as the Koch brothers. The main reason they want this convention to happen is so
that they can add an amendment to the constitution that would require a balanced
federal budget. However, many believe that if a convention was called to amend the
constitution it could get out of hand very quickly especially since there is no
precedent to it. All of this is made possible due to a clause in the constitution called
Article 5, which allows states to draft their own constitutional amendments without...

When the Philadelphia convention took place in 1787, the participants originally
believed that it was being held in order to fix the Articles of Confederation. None of
them expected that a whole new constitution would be devised and ratified. There
is a chance that this may occur within the convention that is now being called to
require a balanced federal budget by passing an amendment. This is what is truly
scary, since there is no telling what may happen inside the convention, and how
different the country may become after it. However, change is not always negative,
and the convention may have a positive effect on America and its citizens. On the
other hand, this could be very detrimental to America and Americans since all the
groups pushing for the conventions such as the American Legislative Exchange
Council are backed and funded by rich conservatives such as the Koch brothers.
The Koch brothers are obviously keen business men and they would not fund these
groups if there was not something in it for them. This is what is scary since they are
obviously thinking about their own monetary gains and this may cost the average
American, and the country as a whole. Also, limiting the federal budget may not
turn out to be so good after all since it would take away any possibility of
Augustine Question
Paper 1 Augustine Question Augustine is a human being like the rest of the world s
population. As a young man grows he will hit a point of his life where personal
desires bubble to the surface. These looming desires not only stem from your own
needs and wants but also from outside influence. Augustine was the son of Patricius,
a landowning roman male who is also a pagan, who follows the roman gods such as
Zeus and other roman mythologythat were popular at the time. Also, the son of
Monica, a woman of catholic faith which was not the normal faith teaching of the
time. Monica was the house keeper as well as the head of the house servants.
Augustine was born on November 3rd in the year of 354 C.E. in the city of
Thagaste, which was a pagan heavy location. As a baby, Augustine s father did not
allow his son to be baptized to follow his father s own beliefs . Growing up he was
covered with the vail of paganism while attending school in Thagaste.... Show more

They were convicted to do these things by a form of peer pressure, the act of
shaming, taunting, coercing, or guilting an individual to do the act or deed for an
attempt to fit in or to be accepted in to the group. This is not limited to small social
circles but of the societal behaviors of the community. If it is socially acceptable to
perform an act or action, that others from a different location deemed unacceptable,
then why the populace care if they themselves see the act or action as normal.
People have been pushing each other in to preforming acts that went against their
own moral code of ethics years prior to Augustine birth. People found out that some
who desired to be part of something, be it a small gang or large organization, were
more willing to do the things required of them. The more they desired joining
something the further they were able to push themselves to achieve that
The Impact Of The Spanish Conquest Over The Mexica
Empire
The conquest over the Mexica Empire by Cortes and his conquistadors was a
remarkable feat. On the surface the victory of what began as 500 Spaniards against
the vast Mexica Empire appears to be an underdog tale of the ages. However, there
were a number of important factors that helped shift the odds in the favor of the
Spanish forces. The three most important of these factors were the technological
advantage that the Spaniards held over the Mexica, the massive devastation
caused by the diseases that the Spaniards brought to the New World and the
support of indigenous allies. In order to demonstrate the effects of these three
factors this essay will first give an overview of Mexica culture. Then it will
examine the specific technological advantages held by the Spanish and the effects
that these advantages had on the battlefield. After this it will examine the impact
that the spread of smallpox and other diseases had upon the Mexica s ability to
defend themselves. Finally this essay will demonstrate the size and impact of
indigenous allies on the Spanish conquest of the Mexica Empire. Through
examining these three factors this essay will attempt to illustrate how the Spanish
were able to face the far more numerous Mexica Empire and why the results were in
no way as surprising as the numbers would indicate. The Mexica People In order to
understand the context of the conquest of Mexico it is important to take a brief look
at the Mexica society that the Spanish would face.
Rob Kardashian Analysis
Rob Kardashian is making a comeback and he may be rejoining the cast of Keeping
Up With the Kardashians. Radar Online, Sept. 22, 2015 reported that Rob lost
over 25 pounds. His mother Kris Jenner is so happy with her son that she wants
him back on the Kardashian reality show. To show Rob how pleased she is with
his slimmed down body, she had the production company offer him $500,000 to
come back to the show. She thinks that this will help Rob to continue with his
weight loss. An inside source admits that it is a good chunk of money, but Rob isn
t anxious to accept it. He doesn t want to come back to Keeping Up With the

Bringing Light
December 12, 2014
Abstract: This experiment was conducted to determine if the light of a glow stick
can be affected by the temperature of water. In this the researcher will try to find
what temperature of water makes a glow stick glow brighter and how long it will
stay lit. By proceeding in the experiment, the data collected proved the hypothesis to
be correct. Warmer water caused the glow stick to glow brighter than it had before.
On the other hand, the beaker with colder water made the stick stay lit longer and the
room temperature water didn t affect the glow stick as much. Glow sticks are
popular products that are used for fun and entertainment. Everyone knows what they
are. But we really don t know what they are. Glow sticks are plastic tubes with a

When the temperature changes so does the results. The blue stick, hot water, stayed
lit for 112 minutes (an hour and fifty two minutes). The green stick, which was room
temperature water, stayed lit for 96 minutes (an hour and thirty six minutes). And
lastly, the pink stick, in cold water, stayed lit the longest for 122 minutes (two hours
and two minutes).
The experiment could have had better results if done with multiple glow sticks. Make
sure that the thermometer is correct in the measurement of the water s temperature. It
is important that you get your data correct.
Conclusion
In the experiment, it was discovered that glow sticks will show more light and glow
brighter in water with higher temperatures than lower or room temperature. The
experiment proved that the hypothesis was correct in saying that warmer
temperatures would make a glow stick glow brighter. Though the hot water made the
glow stick brighter and dim faster, the cold water caused the stick to glow longer,
and the room temperature water didn t affect the green glow stick in any significant
African Storytellers, By Chinua Achebe s Things Fall...
African storytellers utilize a variety of techniques as a way to convey a message to
the intended audience. Illustrating the specific gender roles dictated by African
society while explaining why they must be broken is a technique used to validate the
importance of women in society. While most African societies are male led or
dominated, storytellers craft social commentary to establish the relevance of feminine
influence on the success of these societies. Both Chinua Achebein Things Fall Apart
and Sembene Ousmane in God s Bits of Wood employ the technique of exploring the
defined genderroles while pushing their limits to achieve success as a society.
While Achebe focuses on a male character, Okonkwo, and Ousmane focuses of a
group of female characters, both storytellers are using the technique to reveal the
same message; the importance of femininity in African society. The technique
employed by both storyteller s is essentially the same, despite the fact that it is
being applied to characters of opposite genders. The storyteller examines the gender
roles set forth by African societies while making arguments for why these roles must
be challenged. In the case of examining a male character in Things Fall Apart,
Achebe portrays what occurs if these gender roles are kept as society dictates. In
contrast, in God s Bits of Wood, Ousmane depicts a potential outcome if women
challenge their gender roles. While these situations are very different, both
storytellers reveal

Exploring the concept of race requires a comprehensive understanding of its evolution over time, the impact it has had on societies, and the ongoing discussions about race and identity. One of the challenges is navigating the sensitive and sometimes controversial aspects of the topic. The history of race is deeply rooted in issues of discrimination, inequality, and power dynamics. As a writer, addressing these issues with sensitivity and objectivity is crucial, while also acknowledging the different perspectives that exist on the subject. Furthermore, the interdisciplinary nature of race essays demands a thorough examination of various academic disciplines, such as sociology, anthropology, history, and psychology. A great example of an utopian society is 2BR02B by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. On the other hand some people s opinion differs ,they believe The Giver represents a better utopian community. 2BR02B represents a better quixotic society than The Giver. The best example of an utopian society is 2BR02B. In the story it states, All diseases were conquered . so was old age (Vonnegut pg: 1). As the quote suggest that in the story all of old age was gone no one grew old and there was no illness at all this shows the society is perfect because all of the harm was gone because one thing is guaranteed death, but not in this society. In other words everyone is getting along because there is no conflict with anyone because the judgement is not present. However, even though they have a perfect trait for being kind and not causing conflict, this doesn t mean they are perfect, their population has no control and they usually end up breaking the rules. In the text Asher and the narrator states , I apologize to my classmates and Everyone obeys (Lowry pg. 5 Back) . This further explains that there is no conflict in The Giver and everyone has to apologize in order to keep it that way. Everyone is to obey the rules no matter what. These statements may be true but, when it says everyone obeys that is not true because if so they wouldn t have been released because what s the reason to be released if you so call follow the rules. Whereas some people believe The Giver better represents. These stories affect people in believing these societies shouldn t exist because of their perfectness going wrong and their harsh and not humane
  • 3. What Was The Failure Of The Peace Process Another particularly significant consequence of the failure of the peace process was the development of rapid changes among military relations. The guerrillas, as previously explained, slowly increased their membership, largely to the credit of the demilitarized zone. The paramilitaries developed during this time as well, actually gaining dominance in coca, oil, and agro producing regions. This enabled the paramilitaries to gain an upper hand in drugs and arms smuggling. Similarly, government forces were increasing in size and strength, having benefitted from the United Statesnewly implemented Plan Colombia. Thus amidst the crumbling peace talks from 1999 2002, the war in Colombia shifted from a counternarcotics focused War on Drugs to a counterterrorism focused War on Terror. The Uribe Administration: 2002 2010 The failed peace talks officially concluded in 2002 following the FARC s hijacking of a plane on which Senator Jorge Gechem Turbay was aboard. This proved to be the last straw for the government, so the military reoccupied the demilitarized zone this signified the conclusion of the peace talks. The Pastrana administration s vision of peace, though initially directed by the public, had grown to be vastly unpopular. Therefore the public elected President Uribe, who promised to conquer the guerrillas as well as drug traffickers via military intervention by 2005. Further than advocating military intervention, however, Uribe actively opposed peace talks with guerrillas, arguing, it is impossible to negotiate with guerrilla groups that have not shown any signs of ending their ongoing war against the Colombian state. This was a popular position, given the fact that the FARC, throughout the entirety of the failed peace process, had continued to wage war against the government, killing thousands of civilians in their wake. Uribe s election was significant, as it would be Colombia s only first round electoral victory of a third party candidate. Uribe s victory was largely aided by Colombian s loss of faith in the peace process. Shortly after his

The large intestines (large bowels) are made up of the colon and the rectum (What is colorectal cancer, 2016). The colon is five feet long muscular tube that makes up the majority of the large bowel (What is colorectal cancer, 2016). After food goes through the small intestines, of the digestive system, the colon absorbs the salt and water from the food that remains and the waste matter (feces) is the byproduct (What is colorectal cancer, 2016). Guaiac based Fecal Occult Blood Test The guaiac based Fecal Occult Blood Test (gFOBT) is a screening test for colorectal cancer (A guide to FOBT, n.d.). The guaiac based Fecal Occult Blood Test uses the chemical reagent guaiac to detect the presence of heme in stool (A guide to FOBT, n.d.). Colorectal neoplasms can cause blood (heme) in the stool because the blood vessels on the surface of colorectal cancer and/or colorectal polyps have fragile blood vessels that are easily damaged when feces pass through the large bowel (A guide to FOBT, n.d.). A small amount of blood from the fragile colorectal polyps and cancer vessels merge with the stool (A guide to FOBT, n.d.). The small amount of blood that is combined with the stool from the colorectal polyps and cancer vessels is not visibly noticeable in the stool (A guide to FOBT, n.d.). Consequently, Fecal Occult Blood Tests, such as gFOBT, can be used to detect the small amount of blood that can be found in the stool if a person has colorectal polyps or cancer (A

Castro is most known for his time in power where the relations between Cuba and the U.S. were completely severed, which caused a complete trade embargo between the two countries and almost resulted in nuclear war during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Some scholars believe that Castro always sought out good relations with the U.S, but it was through U.S. aggression that Castro was radicalized into communism and allied with the Soviet Union whereas the other position held by scholars believe that Castro always planned to sever relations with the U.S. in order to nationalize the Cuban economy.... Also, in Castro s speech History Will Absolve Me, Castro already developed and laid down five revolutionary principles that called for the nationalization of the Cuban economy, which shows that Castro s writings in 1953 matched his writings later on about his formative years. This shows that in the early stages of the Cuban revolution that Castro s ideological beliefs of nationalism found in Marxism and Jose Marti, match the writings in his later life about his formative years where Castro claimed that he was always a

Cone s God of the Oppressed is his examination of the origin, development, and significance of black theology as it relates to how he and the black Christian community view God. For Cone, in an America seemingly dominated by white theology and the white Christian community s views of God, it is imperative to acknowledge and attentively listen to the voices of the theologies of other races and what Godmeans to them, especially that of the black community. Cone asserts without hesitation that the God that is referred to in the Bible and black religion is a Deliver of those held captive by the bondage of oppression. Cone not only asserts this viewpoint of God as the Freer of oppressed people, but he validates this assertion through the use of Scripture, the black experience, history, and tradition. Overall, the central theme of this book is that a plethora of factors continually shape and construct a people s theologyand how that theology is significant in regards to how they see God, the world, and themselves. In the eyes of Cone, two of the most foundational factors that help to shape a person s theology and their image of God is their identity and experiences. In the Preface of God of the Oppressed, Cone quickly identify himself as black (one who lives the black experience). Given that the black experience is one of struggle, he sheds light on his identity and his experiences in order to explain why he reads and interprets the Bible through the perspective of

We will using python and nltk to recognize keywords and subsequently using hierarchical clustering algorithm. This method can be used to build news aggregation backends. Aggregation means clustering like documents from different sources. There is fast moving data and heterogeneity of sources in news aggregation scenarios. We need to remove the duplicates arising due to heterogeneous sources. General Terms Hierarchical clustering, algorithms, aggregation, news, text mining et al. In principle, news aggregators can be a substitute or a complement to the news outlets who invest in the creation of news stories. A policy debate centers around the decrease in the incentives for news creation that results if readers choose to consume their news through aggregators without clicking through to the news websites or generating any revenue for the outlets [2]. Students have the choice to live on campus in a dorm or live off campus. Deciding where to live when attending college can sometimes be a difficult process because there are a lot of things to consider whether if it s the environment, the people, or even the cost. Both living on campus and living off of the campus has its pros and cons, but it is entirely up to the student, each student has a different situation and the decision made should be thoroughly thought out. Personally, I feel that living on campus may be the best option for most collegestudents since it is more beneficial for students and their needs. Becoming a young adult can be difficult, it is a stage where being independent is very important. Some students who are living off campus will state that it is a great feeling to have a place of their own, they feel as if they are more independent because they can create their own rules and live as they please. When living off of campus students are given more privacy, because in a dorm students have to share a room with at least one other person. Students are able to personalize their own living space with the decor of their own choosing. Not only does the student gain independence, but they will also become more responsible. Living off campus is thought as paying a monthly rent and other utilities, so the student will have to work a

As the trailer begins, slow images combined with Written Words are used to give the target audience time to familiarise themselves with the story of Maximus. For example the first few shots are of Russell Crowe as a general, then a slave, then a gladiator. This makes it clear to the audience who the main character is and helps to set the scene. Then the images start to become faster and more exciting. This is achieved by using rapid cuts which increases the viewer s excitement. This particular sphere almost explicitly states that the spheres in the image refer to our world. Because we know that we are talking about our world, it can be inferred that in the image, the world has fallen or is falling. Could this be the end of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her significance is revealed to us in the very beginning. In Hesiod s words, she is the ever sure foundation of all the deathless ones who hold the peaks of snowy Olympus, . This, of course, means that she is the ancestor to all the gods of Mount Olympus, who are important beings, to say the least. Now, imagine how a mother could conceive so many children of such power and importance. One of the most intriguing strands in the piece is the referring to Earth as wide . This occurs on two occasions: Earth is introduced first as wide bosomed Earth, and is then referred to as wide pathed Earth when she bore Tartarus. While she is referred to as wide bosomed , the significance of her recurring label of wide likely does not lie with her physical shape, but rather with her role. She has a large role in the Creation. She starts as one of the only beings in existence, along with Chaos. She then spawns two children, Pontus and Heaven. She made Heaven equal to herself, and mated with him to produce her future offspring. However, Heaven was cruel with his children and locked them away upon birth, and Earth herself could not defy him outright. She plotted against them using her children, and her son Cronos took action. When Heaven came down on Earth one night, Cronos sprang from her womb and attacked his father. The blood that came forth from the dismembering of Heaven s members impregnated Earth, and she bore more children. Her offspring went on to live as beings known as the Titans, and as we know, the Titan Cronos proceeded to give birth to Zeus, king of the Olympian gods. By interpreting it this way, Earth may have nearly single handedly brought about the Creation. This may be the focused tale that is hidden amidst the obscurity, and the one that Hesiod may have been trying to convey. Earth certainly did have a wide role in the proceedings, and the recurring use of wide to describe her may have been

A better mediator to start with would have been a couples counselor. If Baldwin and Basinger both had sat down with a relationship/marriage counselor and discussed their issues, even though they might still have gotten divorced, I believe it might have been made less painful and more productive. As it was, there was a lot of anger and disagreeableness surrounding their divorce, as well as a rather hostile climate in which to attempt conflict resolution. I also believe that a lot of the issues with their relationship were caused by a great deal of self centeredness. I believe that they both were so concerned with their own wants and need that they could not find common ground. They were also very unwilling to compromise and had more dominating approaches to handling conflict. This made it very hard for them to reach a positive conclusion to their conflict. Interview With A Graphic Designer I have chosen these questions to ask my Interviewee Neville Brody who is a very famous Graphic Designer who is well respected in his field and internationally known because I feel it is very important to understand the thought process that goes into designing some of the worlds best pieces of work ever created. I would like first hand knowledge coming from Brody himself and not any online articles or journals that I might have read up on. The thought process of design thinking is a very independent thing, you can only learn by repeatedly attempting day after day of new methods of research and how you apply them to your idea. I feel that a lot of people such as fresh students who seek guidance, also young graduates and even sometimes professional graphic designers who have been seen as an expert in their field lack the knowledge of understanding a great design thinking strategy or need aide in this domain. Design thinking is all about the design specific skills that a designer applies during the process of designing, not specifically needing to be a graphic designer as this thought process can be applied to a lot of people in the creative industries such as interior and exterior designers, game designers and even architects. Design thinking has now come to be characterised as fusing the appreciation of other designers and people that can produce beautiful projects and incorporating it into your own work. The special admissions program at Davis was reserved for applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds, and these applicants, who were required to be from a racial minority group, were evaluated separately from the other regular admissions applicants. In both years that he applied, Bakke s GPA was close to the average for regular admittees, but significantly higher than that of the special admittees. His MCAT scores were well above both averages. The Effects Of Child Labor On The Chocolate Industry The Effects of Child Labor in the Chocolate Industry: December 6, 2015, was an important day for many Americans, as it marked the 150th year since the abolishment of slavery when the U.S. authorized the 13th Amendment to the Constitution to end what can be described as the darkest chapter of American history. Many in Western Society seem to be unaware of the contemporary slavery still plaguing many developing countries, particularly involving children. The 2010 documentary film called The Dark Side of Chocolate explored the modern day slavery that is occurring within many West African countries, where children are being exploited and trafficked in order to harvest chocolate. In fact, the United States Department of State estimates that approximately 109,000 children in the Ivory Coast s cocoa industry work under the worst forms of child labor (Mustapha, 2010, p.3). • 42. The Encoding of Contextual Fear Conditioning The formation of new memories requires protein synthesis dependent changes in synaptic structure and plasticity in the hippocampus. Studies in humans and animals suggest that these memories are initially stored in hippocampus but later transferred to cortex for permanent storage. This phenomenon is described as systems consolidation of memories. While the specific role for new proteinsynthesis in hippocampus in early encoding of memories is established, whether protein synthesis in medial prefrontal cortex play a major role in encoding of memories is unclear. To address this question, we used contextual fear conditioning (CFC) of mouse, a behavior training that induce long lasting memories. A single training session produces robust lifelong memory(8) that can be measured using automated procedures (9). Several studies have used CFC training as a model to study hippocampal cortical communications and mechanisms underlying systems consolidation of memories. Contextual fear memories are initially stored in hippocampus and then moved to medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) for long term storage. We assume that if encoding of contextual fear memories require protein synthesis at both hippocampus and PFC, we will be able to identify translationally active mRNAs in hippocampus and PFC. Because RNAs associated with polyribosomes indicate translational activation, we first isolated polyribosomes from mPFC and hippocampus at two time points (one hour and six hours, hereafter T1 and T2

Going beyond tales exchanged by pet owners, scientists are now studying and identifying emotions in animals. Live Science noted that research is beginning to suggest that jealousy in a primordial emotion that people and some animals share. But for the jealousy to be felt, the person or the animal must have the cognitive ability to recognize the importance of a relationship and to assess potential threats to that relationship which is a tall order for some animals. Inborn emotion According to studies, infants as young as six months old showed jealousy when their mothers interacted with another baby which was actually a realistic looking doll. The situation suggested that jealousy is an inborn emotion that is not learned and it had evolved to protect any type of social relationship from interlopers. It may also exist in other social animals. Animal experts now believe that dogs, for instance, become jealous when their owners give too much attention to a rival animal. Dogs were more likely to snap and push their owners if the pet felt it was being excluded for the affection, according to University of California researchers. Professor Christine Harris, the lead researcher, said that the study suggested it is not only dogs that engage in what seems to be jealous behaviors. The pets also seek to break up the connection between the owner and its perceived rival. She noted that many

Law Of Non-Contradiction By Alan Darley Analysis In Alan Darley s article Does Aquinas Notion of Analogy Violate the Law of Non Contradiction? he hopes to respond to Pickstocks claim that St. Thomas concept of analogy violates the law of noncontradiction. He does this through answering three specific questions. The first question: Did Aquinas intend that his notion of analogy be understood as violating the law of non contradiction? The answer is, of course not. Darley points out that St. Thomas agrees strongly with the Aristotelian epistemic foundational concept of the law of contradiction. He further points out that Aquinas does not hold this for merely created things, but also the Creator. For He Who Is cannot be He who is not. The ineffable nature of Godas the transcendent one cannot contradict the laws of being for He is Being. His nature cannot contradict reason for He is Truth. St. Thomas, according to Darley, then moves to Scripture as evidence that God cannot break a fundamental law of His own Being. After going through the writings of Thomas, and various other Thomist, Darley concludes his argument by saying that analogical language of God does not break... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The approach serves as both a critique of Pickstock s argumentation, a clarification of St. Thomas, and an explanation of St. Thomas s teaching on analogy. Besides conveying concisely that Aquinas upholds and affirms the law of noncontradiction in his writings, Darley also articulates that the law of noncontradiction is a result of God being transcendent Being. God is He who gives finite beings their being. Two insights I found especially compelling are: the notion that the law of identity for creatures, which is based in the law of noncontradiction, is analogous to the Tetragrammaton and that the law of noncontradiction participates in He Who Is Being. These insights represent a statement about the core principles of understanding having their root in the Creator of all
