Motivation
According to the outcomes of National Literature Survey conducted in 2005,
Malaysian typically only reads two books a year. In the efforts of promoting reading
habits among the youths through digital medium, ChampFactor Achiever Club was
formed as a result of the trio collaboration among Celex Media, Zinio LLC and
LifeChamp to make popular digital magazines and books more affordable and widely
accessible to the masses. Looking at the ultimate tremendous benefits and relevance
of such initiative, it is hence well supported by the government agencies like Digital
Malaysia and Malaysia Digital Enabler Centre (MDeC). At university level,
ChampFactor Achiever Club is put under the care of University of Malaya
Entrepreneurship Centre (UMEC) and has gained the recognition from the Vice
Chancellor Office.
About Us
Champfactor is a non-profit organization that is set up to promote a culture of reading
in Asia. Subscribers gain access to 51 international digital magazines that worth
RM18000 alone & exclusive e-books. We aim to expose the youths of South East
Asia to broaden their view by reading international journals and magazines such as
Bloomberg, The Economist and National Geographic. To achieve this objective, we
are the promotion partner of Koperasi UiTM Berhad who provides the digital library
service.
Our key aim is to expose local youths to the world at large by focusing on the digital
library movement, where people have access to a wide array of e-books at their
fingertips. Our digital library can be accessed on any mobile device, smart phone,
tablet or laptop.
We further cultivate and expand student learning by setting up communities inside
universities, thereby promoting social networking and leadership skills among
students.

As per conversation with one of your librarians, Main Library in University of Malaya
currently has 13540 digital titles which incurs a large sum of library expenditure of
RM13218223.27. Some titles like Architectural Record, PC Magazine and National
Geography which are currently covered under University of Malaya incurred a higher

supports 3D features. The pricing for each title derives from the comparison of multiple deals
available and can be considered the lowest price, and is converted into USD currency, as of
April 2014’s rate. To view the genre and publication, please see appendix. Titles in RED font
are unavailable in Asia Pacific regions.
From the table shown above, the sum of annual digital and physical subscription fees
of all titles is nearly RM 5,000 and RM 10,000 respectively after the currency
conversion. Therefore, it is wise to switch to another more competitive, committed

Breeds New, Refreshing Interest among the Students and Staffs
It is timely to bring in new, interesting magazine titles and books to create the reading
interests, particularly among the undergraduates and postgraduates. ChampFactor
offers a wide range of titles; some are for leisure whereas some are academically

inclined. Titles such as Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Discover, National
Geography are highly recommended for students and staffs from engineering faculty,
geology faculty and science faculty. Reader Digest have long been opted by students
who wish to improve their command of English, which are therefore beneficial for
students coming from Teaching English as Second Language (TESL) and English
Language Department. Not to forget to mention how architectural students normally
get design inspiration by looking at various unique building structures exist around
the world. They can now read 2G: International Architecture Magazine, Architectural
Record and even Outdoor Photography and Popular Photography can be a good
sidekick for them.
Save Spaces
With the already existing high volumes of books, academic reserves, newspapers,
magazines and journals, University has to plan its layout of its library carefully and
constantly update the coordinate system of the location of the reading materials with
barcodes. Now, with ChampFactor’s digital magazines and books, the librarians can
now save the hassle of storing piles of reading materials that were not read and then
thrown away at times, as well as in supporting green causes.

publication company based in America, University of Malaya Library could simply
win the title of 24/7 Virtual Library as its book service works similar to a physical
library. Each book is limited and each copy can only be borrowed by 1 person at a
time. Besides, the book service has a queue system to place the unavailable book in
your wish list, and once it is available, the system will inform you.
Our book service works similar to a physical library. Therefore each book borrowed is
subject to a time frame to return, which is up to a maximum of 7 days; each account is
limited to borrowing 2 books at a time. As the book will be automatically returned to
the library once it expires, there is no fear for students to be fined in anyway.
Alternatively, if you have finished reading a book, you can always manually return

billion smartphones in a matter of four years. Tablets are showing faster adoption

rates than smartphones. It took smartphones nearly four years to reach 6% penetration

1. How to view the e-magazines?
The digital magazines may be viewed directly via website or, for a better experience
via a tablet or, for convenience via a smartphone with Zinio application.
2. Are the e-magazines complete?
Yes, there are. All the 51 titles are complete and are exactly the same as the physical
copy.
3. Do I have to return the e-magazines?
The e-Magazines are yours completely once downloaded. There is no need to return
the copy of the magazines.
4. How to contact you if I am facing any problems?
You can contact us via the support email, support@celexmedia.com.
5. Will I get the latest issue?
Yes, you will get the latest issues, normally quicker than the print copy.
6. How will I know the latest issues are available?
Please visit Champfactor.my often to ensure you do not miss out any issues available.
Some magazines are weekly or monthly.
7. What happen if I miss out an issue? How do I get a copy of that issue?
Just click on the “Back Issues Available” link to view all back issues available for you
to view/download.
8. Can I read it offline?

Yes, you can read the contents offline if you have the Zinio application installed on
your device. Please note that you have to sign-in into your Zinio account to enable the
sync of e-magazines collection.

1. How does the book service work?
Our book service works similar to a physical library. Each book is limited and each
copy can only be borrowed by 1 person at a time.
2. What are the available titles?

3. The book I want to borrow is currently not available. What can I do?
The book service has a queue system. Just place the unavailable book in your wish list,

5. How to return the books?

No, in order to be fair with everyone, you will have to re-borrow the book ok after it

9. How do I read the books I borrowed?
The book can be read via your browser, but for enhanced reading experiences please
download the Overdrive application, it is free and available in most platforms.
10. Will there be any new books?
Yes, new book title will be added every month, depending on demand.
11. There is a book I would love to read, can you make that available?
Book titles are selected based on popular demands, if there are many request for a
particular book, then that book will be added.
12. Can I read it offline?
Yes, offline reading can be done via the OverDrive application installed in the devices.
