2. It was important that we
discovered the demographics
of our audience, so we asked
a question regarding gender.
A significant 85% of our
audience are female. This
means our music video will
mainly cater and appeal
mainly to a female audience.
3. All respondents of the
questionnaire fell between
the ages of 16-20. This will
be helpful when conducting
our music video, as we
know roughly the age group
of our audience (which in
this case is a young
audience)
4. We then moved on to asking
psychographic questions, which all
involved choice and individual
preferences. We asked the
audience what in particular
defines our chosen artist for them.
Two of the most popular
definitions we received were fun
and unique (the screenshot shows
only a few responses). This is
useful, as will can help in creating
the image for the lead star in our
video.
5. This helped us to establish
what the audience would like
to see visually. The two most
popular answers were a party
like scene, as well as poolside.
In terms of evaluating this
question, my group and I are
aware that the poolside
option would be dependent
on the weather during the
time of filming. If it is not
possible to do a poolside
scene, we will instead film on
a sunny day which was the
third most popular option.
6. Around 42% of our
audience find that the
costume is the most
important factor of a pop
video. This will be useful
when it comes to
deciding what elements
to include within our
music video. We will
make sure to pay
attention to the costume
choices for the actors in
our video. We will
research further into
typical pop costumes,
that are commonly used
in pop videos (especially
Kesha’s)
7. The three most popular
associations with a Kesha pop
video were alcohol,
flamboyant costumes and a
club scene. We are well aware
that many of the actors within
our music videos/our target
audience are underage.
Keeping this in mind we will in
no way be condoning or using
actual alcohol. Instead we will
use replacements such as
coloured soda or pop. In
addition the other two options
(flamboyant costumes and
club scene), will help us
establish setting the scene as
well as the costume for the
lead in our video.
8. This question shows that the
most popular effect for our
video that our target audience
would prefer, is bright. This
would help in constructing our
video, as we will opt for the
bright effect.
9. The two main themes that we
will focus on for our pop videos,
will be humour and partying
which will be expressed through
the narrative and other
elements. These two themes are
particularly what our target
audience would want to see.
10. This question was helpful, as
in terms of lighting we will
try and ensure that our
choice of setting has mainly
bright/colourful lighting.
11. A large 70% of our audience
would prefer fast paced
scenes, with costume and
background changes. This is
not only typical for Kesha’s
pop videos, but it is also
typical of many pop videos
in general. This will be a key
element of our music video,
as it will be important to
have frequent
scene/costume changes
throughout.
