This document provides a side-by-side comparison of frames from the filmmaker's short horror film and the movie Texas Chainsaw 3D to show how their film uses conventions of real horror movie genres and styles. 3. Frame by frame
The first two frames represents the introduction of the
characters and the setting and location, this shows the
audience where the majority of the film is set as an
establishing shot to set up the rest of the film.This is
similar to main stream horror films as a lot of the
beginning frames in “Texas chainsaw 3D” as they set up
the scene and the characters in the same way, as per
usual media conventions of a horror film where we get
to know the characters of the film and we have a set
and location within the first couple of minutes of the
film
In the third frame we see the representation of
props and costumes, where we can see a guy
cleaning blood of an axe in a close up, this also plays
by your average conventions of a horror film as you
can see in frame four ofTexas chainsaw 3D, this sort
of convention is used to show the audience what the
main prop is in the film such as an axe or the
chainsaw which is usually shown in a close up.
Frame four represents the special effects that I
used to try and add to the atmosphere of the film
and to make it seem more realistic, this is
common of horror films as it hypes the audience,
this is a very common convention of horror films
as it helps the audience believe in the super
natural as a way of striking fear into the audience,
I did this by using a ghosting effect to simulate
the blurred vision of someone who has been
knocked out, this the same as in frame eight in
the chainsaw massacre collection.
Frame one, two and six shows how the story is set up by introducing the characters and how one of
them get separated this opens up a range of possibility's and we know that something is going to
happen which sets up the story

4. Frame by frame
Frame seven represent the editing and
camera work used in the film as I used a cut
shot to show the bag falling on the group
for added effect this is a convention for
most film as they use camera work and
editing to make the film flow and for it to
run smoothly, it can also help with making
this scarier this is similar to frame 9 on the
Texas chainsaw pics.
Frame eight and nine represent the title
of the film which is one of the most
common conventions of all films, this is
the same as frame 7 inTexas chainsaw.
Frame two shows how the characters
are introduced as two walkers in the
forest, this could be a similar convention
to quite a few horror films as it shows
people who are vulnerable being in a
place that they would consider scary and
unfamiliar.
Frame nine shows the style and font that
I used for my title and that I used for my
intro for my actors, I used this font as I
thought that it looked great and it was
wide so that it could fit well on the trees.
I think that frame one and two shows the
genre and I think that this frame shows
this by the fact that I darkened the screen
and that they seem vulnerable in a scary
area such as a forest where no people are
about this is a regular convention of horror
films as inTexasChainsaw 3d the
beginning doesn’t have any other
characters other than the main ones.
