Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

3. HOW HAVE YOUR SKILLS DEVELOPED
AND WHAT BENEFIT HAS THIS HAD ON
YOUR WORK?
My skills have developed in many ways. Before hand I only knew the very
basics of how to use new technologies such as Photoshop, InDesign, and
Paint. I had only used them for a few things and did not really understand
how to work these software's. However now after using them in my main
print magazine task I have been able to watch YouTube clips, and
information from friends to help me discover more advanced things on
these software's.
It has benefited my work because it has made it look more individual and
professional. For example Photoshop has allowed me to change the
colour, size, and shape of my photos. InDesign has allowed me to design
the layout of the pages in the format I want. And Paint has allowed me to
crop down images to focus in on what I need.
4. DID YOU PRODUCE WORK MORE IN LINE WITH
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE AS YOU HAVE A MORE
DETAILED UNDERSTANDING OF THE FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?
• Yes, I think I did because after researching what my target market
wanted to see in the magazine I found myself putting these things
in of every page to keep them interested. For example when
looking at professional rock and roll magazines I realised the
statement colour of red, black, and white were constantly being
used. I also noticed gold stars were usually somewhere to be found
on the page. And all the images were action shots or of some kind
of musical instrument.
• I copied the use of the colours red, black, and white to base the
colour scheme and placed gold stars on each page to draw
attention to certain images. When taking the photos I also made
sure every picture has some type of musical theme. So I made sure
the model was either playing a musical instrument, holding a
musical instrument. Or holding something to do with a musical
instrument (e.g.. Amp).
5. DID YOU MANAGE YOUR TIME
BETTER?
• Compared to doing the initial print task I feel I
managed my time a lot better because I set myself
deadlines for when I wanted tasks to be completed. For
the initial task I didn’t really set myself deadlines.
Maybe because there wasn’t as much work to do, but
also because I found it harder to actually research and
produce for due to the fact I wasn’t sure on how to
work some of the software, and sometimes I didn’t
even realise that type of software was available.
• For the main task I feel I managed my time better
because I met deadlines and planned ahead in advance
instead of just thinking on the spot.
6. WAS YOUR WORK WELL PLANNED?
• Yes. I defiantly feel that my work was well planned out. We were
given a checklist of everything that needed to be completed. This
helped organise my work because I was able to see the workload
and what I needed to complete. On top of this I made on paper my
own checklist of additional things that needed to be completed
such as posts to go onto the blog, and pictures I wanted cropping.
• I made sure I put dates on things for when I needed them
completed and I think this is the main thing that kept me on track. I
would also dedicate a lot of my free lessons to working on this
coursework because I didn’t have all the technology on my own
computer at home. I also estimated how many hours I thought I
needed on certain tasks which meant I had to make sure I dedicated
my time to this. To conclude I believe my work was well planned
because every task was met to the deadline.
• However if I was to do this task again I would change the way of
order I approached tasks because sometimes this held me back
because I need to proceed onto the next task but hadn't done
something before this to allow me to do it.
9. HOW DID YOUR SKILLS DEVELOP USING
SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE AND HOW THIS
HAS IMPROVEMENT BEEN EVIDENT IN YOUR
WORK?
• By using software and hardware my skills
developed. Beforehand I did not have very much
understanding of some technology on the
internet and would of not been able to interpret
these onto my magazine. However now after
watching YouTube clips (which I have attached
to my blog) and reading question and answer
sites I was able to teach myself.
