What have we learned about
technologies in creating our
         product
The Camera

This was the most important tool in
creating our film, and while we were
novices in using it at first, we learned the
various basic skills needed to fully operate
it during the film’s creation.

For example, we learned how to use the
zoom function, how to import/export
footage from the camera, how to attach
it to a tripod and stabilise it, and how to
manage lighting in conjunction with
camera angles.

During our first time filming, we did have
issues with both lighting and our choice of
camera angles, though this problem was
resolved as we learned how to manage
both, by learning how to perform certain
angles, and by relying more upon natural
lighting.
Phones

While they didn’t actually play a major
part in the creation of the film, phones
served as important tools within filming as
they were a way for Fiona and Simon to
communicate to each other, which is
significant as only Simon’s inner
monologue is ever heard.

They were also used as a means to
pragmatically confirm the teenage
nature of the characters, as the phones
the actors use within the film are modern
and give a wider implication as to the
time and setting of the film as a whole.

Perhaps more notably, Simon’s phone is
the factor that shows Fiona that he is
obsessed with her via the picture has
taken of her in secret, which is one of the
biggest plot points in the film.
Adobe Premiere Pro

After we had all the footage we
needed, we then used the editing
software, Adobe Premiere Pro. Will
was already knowledgeable in
using the software, so the rest of us
had the most to learn about using
even the basic tools from the
program. However, we all gained
from using it, as we were also able
to implement special effects into
our film (such as texts appearing
on screen), and thus make it look
even greater than what we
originally intended. We arguably
spent the most time editing during
the film’s creation, those this was
to make sure continuity was kept
and that no bugs or errors
appeared when splicing shots
together.
Music

For all our musical needs, we used
Imcompetech.com, which is a site that
provides downloadable, royalty free
music. They feature a wide selection of
over 2000 songs, and we usually searched
the ‘dark’ and ‘intense’ sections for
appropriate music. The songs we used
were called, and we believe these fitted
very well in all the parts we placed them
in.
Reception from different websites

The two pictures to the right are
comments that we have received from
people on Facebook and Youtube
about our film, as we found that
distributing the film amongst multiple
platforms benefited us in our audience
size.

Overall, the reception we have
received has been quite positive, with
many people citing that the film had a
good story and a suitably creepy
atmosphere, especially caused by
Simon’s character. On Youtube, the film
has already gained 271 views, 6 days
since it’s release, and the team hopes
that this will surely rise in the following
weeks.

  • 1. Question 6 What have we learned about technologies in creating our product
  • 2. The Camera This was the most important tool in creating our film, and while we were novices in using it at first, we learned the various basic skills needed to fully operate it during the film’s creation. For example, we learned how to use the zoom function, how to import/export footage from the camera, how to attach it to a tripod and stabilise it, and how to manage lighting in conjunction with camera angles. During our first time filming, we did have issues with both lighting and our choice of camera angles, though this problem was resolved as we learned how to manage both, by learning how to perform certain angles, and by relying more upon natural lighting.
  • 3. Phones While they didn’t actually play a major part in the creation of the film, phones served as important tools within filming as they were a way for Fiona and Simon to communicate to each other, which is significant as only Simon’s inner monologue is ever heard. They were also used as a means to pragmatically confirm the teenage nature of the characters, as the phones the actors use within the film are modern and give a wider implication as to the time and setting of the film as a whole. Perhaps more notably, Simon’s phone is the factor that shows Fiona that he is obsessed with her via the picture has taken of her in secret, which is one of the biggest plot points in the film.
  • 4. Adobe Premiere Pro After we had all the footage we needed, we then used the editing software, Adobe Premiere Pro. Will was already knowledgeable in using the software, so the rest of us had the most to learn about using even the basic tools from the program. However, we all gained from using it, as we were also able to implement special effects into our film (such as texts appearing on screen), and thus make it look even greater than what we originally intended. We arguably spent the most time editing during the film’s creation, those this was to make sure continuity was kept and that no bugs or errors appeared when splicing shots together.
  • 5. Music For all our musical needs, we used Imcompetech.com, which is a site that provides downloadable, royalty free music. They feature a wide selection of over 2000 songs, and we usually searched the ‘dark’ and ‘intense’ sections for appropriate music. The songs we used were called, and we believe these fitted very well in all the parts we placed them in.
  • 6. Reception from different websites The two pictures to the right are comments that we have received from people on Facebook and Youtube about our film, as we found that distributing the film amongst multiple platforms benefited us in our audience size. Overall, the reception we have received has been quite positive, with many people citing that the film had a good story and a suitably creepy atmosphere, especially caused by Simon’s character. On Youtube, the film has already gained 271 views, 6 days since it’s release, and the team hopes that this will surely rise in the following weeks.
