5) How did you attract/address
       your audience?
Target Audience
• When making our Thriller we tried not to have an age restriction however
we feel ages above 15 would be able to relate the most to ‘Beneath the
  Shadows’
• This mainly comes down to how the audience relates to the main character
(Niall Ballinger.) There are a number of ways the audience can relate to
him but from the short two minute opening the way in which the audience
can really relate to him is through his clothes. The clothes that are worn
are very modern and are worn by the majority of teenagers
What aspects of your film would
        appeal to your target audience?
• The main reason would be the music that is displayedin the opeining two minutes. Through
our research we found that many thrillers begin with music to help create an atmospere as
well as keeping the audience interested while the opening titles and credits are playing.
• An example of this is James Bond-Casino Royale where they Chris Connell’s ‘You Know My
    Name’ throughout the opening sequence
• The music we used were uncopyrighted which we found on youtube, which were given the
link to download for free http://www.mediafire.com/?b1b06yuviks1b The songs we chose
to download were: The Glitch Mob- ‘Nalepa Monday’ and The Blue Stahli- ‘Shotgun Senorita’
• We believd they fitted our target audience as its relatively modern with instruments such as
guitars, drums and bass. The Glitch Mob’s song was verysynthesized and techno which the
    younger generation would enjoy
• However, we’re not saying the older generation wouldn’t appreciate the choice of music as
they may enjoy the mysterious atmosphere to our physiological thriller
• Another reason why the film would appeal to our target audience is the strong way the
    audience can relate to thriller.
• It’s a day to day morning routine that everyone experiences but with a twist.
• There isn’t a murder or the main character isn’t a police man; he is an average teenager that
our target audience can get attached to.
How would the audience be drawn to
                your film?
• Our thriller is a physiological thriller which attempts to keep the audience on the
edge of their seat. There are certain aspects in our thriller that confuses the
audience such as who these men are? And why are they following him?
• These questions will draw the audience to our thriller.
• As our main character is a average teenage boy he will attract sympathy from the
audience as they don’t understand yet what he has done to be followed and they
feel sorry for the situation he is in
• The music will draw the audience do our thriller as it creates a desolate
    atmosphere.
• The hand held Point Of View shots help create a scary, sinister mood as the
audience don’t know what is going on behind or around the character, just is view.
Who are the audience asked to relate
                 to?
• Our audience are asked to relate to our main character (Niall
Ballinger) from the beginning, which is mainly due to the fact
that all the attension is on him in the beginning of the thriller
• They have to witness the two men coming out of no where
  and follow him
• Its hard for the audience as sometimes the main character
doesn’t even know he’s been watched or followed. Eg the
beginning when he turns the corner the two bad guys are
  behind him
