QUESTION 5
How did you
attract/address your
     audience?
Relating to the main character
I think what’s good about our thriller is how we have used a
teenager as the main character. Because of this, people can
relate to the situation she is in, being home alone and hearing
noises; a situation many people have been in. It is also very
realistic as we have set the thriller in a very realistic location, a
home, therefore the audience may think it could be likely to
happen to them.

Following this, the beginning of the our thriller is mainly filming a
daily routine of a teenager being dropped home, going to her
room and running a bath, it’s a very common thing everyone can
relate to.
The location
we filmed at:
As we previously stated, the location where we
filmed, a normal home, would attract viewers
because everyone, especially teenagers and young
adults know the feeling of being home alone and
hearing creaks and noises. Everyone is aware of
this, therefore, the storyline of ‘Psychosis’ may
sound more appealing as people may be intrigued
to find out more about what happens to the
teenager in the film.
During filming, the house was a perfect choice
because we were able to get a variety of shot
distances and camera shots with the amount of
space. This plays an important role of attracting
the audience as the shots not only creates
suspension for the viewer but also films the
surrounding in the home and not just one scene so
the viewers believe the beginning of the thriller is
leading somewhere.
The main
  character:
The main character being a teenager can
attract young viewers because they are able
to relate to her situation more, people are
also more likely to put themselves in her
position. We Chose Felicia D’Tomaso, as she
studies drama we thought she would be
ideal to film-keeping a serious face. Felicia
did well, the pace of her movement and
actions were slow and effective. She fitted
well with the teenager we had in mind to
film, and we wanted her to be as natural
and realistic so teenagers can relate to her.

As a widower tries to piece together his life in the wake

imaginary friend.
This thriller is similar to our film ‘Psychosis’ as in ‘Hide
and Seek’ the daughter has an imaginary friend and in
our thriller the teenager has a mental problem where
she is imagining things in the attack. Making people
realise how ‘Psychosis’ is linked to other brilliant thrillers
may encourage them to watch ours, creating a trend
and gain popularity.
Others:
There are similar themes in Alfred Hitchcock’s thrillers as he specialised
techniques in suspense and psychological thrillers. The main reason we link his
work with ours is because the main character is hearing noises, she goes to the
attack to find out, and the rest of the film would be the teenager dealing with
these noises and how she is being tortured by herself due to the psychological
problems.
