Our film
Our film title at the moment is called
'Stalker', it is a working title at the
moment.
Our film is about a man who is
struggling in life and develops an
intense obsession with a woman who
appears to have everything. This
obsession takes over him and kidnaps
her, leading to a police investigation.
Key themes:
• Obsession
• Jealousy
• Resentment
• Kidnapping
• Crime
Character information
One of our main characters is a female
character, played by Sarah Elenge, named
Michelle. As a group we wanted to portray
her as someone is is very independent,
dominant and assertive. We also wanted to
portray her as someone whose life was near
to perfect, to seem as though she has
everything in life. So when that’s all ripped
away it more impactful to the audience as
they really get to see how envious the
stalker is towards Michelle
Our other main character has no name at
the moment but is referred to as 'The
Stalker' to really emphasize the fact that
the stalker is really detached and
disconnected from the rest of the world
and their surroundings. We also wanted
to portray this character as someone who
is mysterious, obsessive and over baring.
We want these different key features to be
a center point of our thriller film
Ideas for title opening sequence
We are hoping to include a range of
different shots in our opening title
sequences which would begin to
establish the thriller genre. For
example, including over the shoulder
shot, showing that someone is being
followed to reassert the fact that our
film is based upon stalker thriller
films.
We also want to include different iconography and
props to show the audiences the clear division of
status in society for both of the main characters. One
being our characters being of a higher status, and the
other of a low status, which begins to form the basis
of our narrative. Showing why the stalker is so
envious of 'Michelle' and begins to show how
obsessive he becomes towards her. This division in
society also begins to depict the kind of lifestyle that
they both have , one living more luxuriously and the
other not living in the best conditions. Allowing us to
build on the type of story we want to convey to an
audience.
Illustration of ideas.
A film that we keep referring back to as it is a
prime example of the kind of stalker film we
want to create is ' Fatal attraction' . Although
our 'Stalker' isn't sexually attracted to the person
they're stalking like in 'Fatal attraction', the
obsessive and intense nature that is portrayed by
'Glenn close' is what we want to capture and
take from this film and apply it to our own.
Incorporating the way in which Glenn closes'
character develops is what is key for our film,
even though it is a title opening sequence we
want the key features of the 'Stalker' character
to come through to the audience
Target audience profile
Our target audience is someone aged 16- 30. Although because thriller is becoming a much bigger genre , with
many different sub genres our film is open to people older and younger than the ages we have specified.
Also our film is targeted at both male and females as we don’t to just segregate the film only to one gender as we
feel like our film can appeal to both genders. We feel as though the type of person we want to attract is someone
who is enthusiastic about a little mystery and suspense. Also someone who wants to delve into the world of our
film and really stay alert and present to what it happening throughout the film, wanting to understand the
significance of the story and really grasp what we are trying to convey .
Further more we want to attract people who are generally interested in TV and film, even if thriller isn't their
favourite genre. It will allow the audience to see the similarities between that particular show and the film we're
trying to create and the story we are trying to get across to our target audience.
Appealing to the target audience
Our film opening will appeal to our target audience in a number of way. First of all we
aim to provide tension and mystery throughout our opening sequence as a way to draw
audiences in. This will allow them to want to further watch the film as it should be
engaging to the audience we are trying to attract.
Feedback
1.How do you think we could improve our film
opening, from what you have just heard?
2.Do you think we have a clear storyline and/or
narrative.
3.From hearing what you have just heard would you
want to watch the film if it were to come out in
cinemas
