Production Evaluation 4
The Core audience for my opening sequence/film ranges from the ages of 18 to 25 and is
predominantly male.
Age - The age of my target audience is from 18 to 25 years old, this is the age bracket that horror
movies/films have the most success in and make the most amount of money. Additionally, this is the
age group that is legally allowed to view the content and they will understand most of what
happens in the movies/films as they are adult themed.
Gender - The most common gender to watch horror movies/films are males. This does follow the
stereotype of the male role being masculine and not getting scared at a movie whereas women
have a more fearful approach. Another reason Males are the main target audience for horror
movies is because of the over sexualisation of female characters, this means men are more likely to
watch horror movies and therefore more profit will be generated.
Ethnicity – There is a wide range of ethnic diversity within the audience of a horror film/movie,
horror movies have large success in the US which is a hugely multi–cultural society very similar to
the UK.

Audience Profile
• On the previous slide we can see two ideal audience profiles for my
film/movie. These are stereotypical audiences members made from
observing my research more carefully. This target audience is
therefore going to be roughly around the age of 18 to 25 and have an
average income of about £19,000 to £20,000 per year. The next slide
illustrates the audience data that will be watching my film/movie.
Audience Data
This pie chart shows us the different
percentages between a male and
female audience watching horror. This
data directly correlates to my audience
research as we can see that the horror
genre is generally preferred by males.
This allows me to include more male
orientated themes and thus works to
my advantage.
This pie chart illustrates to us what
type of sub genre within horror is
more popular. This is helpful data as
it allows me to create a story that
comfortably fits into that sub genre
and thus give the best outcome from
my audience. Additionally, the data
gives me a strong indicator of what I
should include in my film/movie for it
to be successful.
This chart is focused upon the film
audiences age. As stated in previous
research I conducted this shows how
the prim horror age is between 19-
24. This means adult themes will be
prominent and that I can include
everything I desire to in my film as
my audience are mature. Finally, this
data means I can specifically focus
my work on my audiences
preferences and therefore making it
more enjoyable for them, the
consumer.
