WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?
Gender: Male
Action films are typically targeted towards a male audience as the generic
conventions of action such as, violence, guns, cars and explosions tend to be
preferred by males. It is stereotypical that males are drawn to violent films such
as Action. Our film opening features guns and drugs therefore, a male audience
would get what they would have expected from our film. Furthermore, usually
action films feature women which is going to appeal more to a male audience
than a female audience.
Age: 15-40 years old
This is generally the age bracket of people who consume Action films. Most
teenage males enjoy watching films filled with action as the generic conventions
expected from the genre is appealing to this audience. The interest in action
films can stretch into their later life usually up to around 40 years old however,
the genre can be enjoyed by all ages. Our film, really targets teenage males and
young adult males as we would expect our piece to be most popular with these
two groups.
Similar Films: Spectre
Spectre is another action film that features a hero and a villain which is a typical generic
convention of action. Furthermore, guns and violence are also seen in Spectre therefore, it is a
similar style piece to our film. Similar to our film Spectre is a mainstream film that targets a mass
audience and therefore, attract audiences that want to watch a movie, possibly for escapism.
Adrenalin seekers who want to feel a rush of adrenalin will want to see our film as maybe they
lack action in their life. People that have interest in action and crime films that also like guns or
hero and villain based scenes will enjoy our film as these are two generic conventions included
in our film opening.
