2. After conducting further research into psychological thrillers I began looking closely into Target
genders of psychological thrillers and have discovered the target audience tends to be a mixed
gender of 18 -35 years but more popular with women, because of the amount of mystery and
the depth of the plot.
Psychological thrillers tend to usually focus on the conflict of the mind and also the deeply
emotional and mental struggle of a specific characters (Protagonist)this being the core factor to
why a large fraction of psychological thriller audience consist of female this is because as they
may contain brutal violence in this genre but overall deeply focus on emotional and mental battle
in which takes place within a protagonist mind This playing a key role in mainly attracting the
female audience for e.g. black swan 2010 and psycho 1960. Usually the target audience of most
psychological thrillers is 18+, this is because they contain many disturbing characters with
psychological illnesses. However a majority of psychological thrillers attract primarily
females, aged 18-35. Research shows that women are more attracted to psychological
thrillers, because they enjoy the mystery and story behind events that take place in thriller films. It
has been shown that females prefer the intellectual side of the mental illnesses and strange
psychologically challenging behavior that features in psychological thrillers.
However psychological thrillers also target and attract a large male audience aged 18-35 due to
them containing scenes of violent nature and also death associated with the typically male
protagonist psychological problems in which appeals primarily to a male audience as males are
more or less attracted to the physical battle within psychological thrillers and less of the mental
struggle.

After conducting my target audience research on (IMDB) I have discovered that
Psychological thrillers allow the audience to play detectives along with the film to
solve a mystery so the audience need to be attentive and have a focused mind
therefore being a key reason to why this genre in which may not ne ideal for
younger audience. A psychological thriller can include some psychological issues
which may be disturbing for younger viewers, however it tends to be a mental and
emotional conflict rather than violence. For psychological thrillers, the target
audience tends to be a mixed gender of 18-35 years, because of the amount of
mystery and the depth of the plot.

4. Daniela is a 21 year old Girl at university student currently studying film
and has a keen interest in cinema. She has a part-time job at Starbucks
so she doesn’t have much disposable income. She illegally downloads
films but prefers to pay for quality. She lives with a house mate in a flat
so most of his money goes towards utility bills, food and rent and
therefore cannot attend the cinema quite often. His favorite films are
‘American Psycho, The Secret Window and Psycho’. she likes these
films because they appeal to her desires of mystery and depth within a
narrative . Daniela finds out about new films through reviewing websites
and magazines for example empire. she actively follows actors and
directors on twitter to find out about a new project. Like majority of teens
Daniela has a IPhone which never leaves his hand, he socialize a lot
through social networking sites her favorite has to be twitter
